    Can you make a separate video how to receive flick serve from each side of the court if... -> flicked down the center line, flicked to half, flicked to corner?

    great video and footwork. excellent discussion of china vs malay jump. you dont talk about this but you can see in the video your aggressive stance in the serve receiving position. this can make your opponent feel pressured and give you opportunities from a weak flick serve. if you have practiced returning the flick serve, it is difficult for your opponent to serve a flick that will not create a disadvantage for him. so reaching as far toward the net as possible when receiving service is an important aspect of service return no matter how your opponent will serve. maybe you an cover some low service return techniques as well

    Really helpful, but Al, one of the difficulties I have is turning my body into the overhead position if the flick is to my left side. Since I am receiving with my right food behind, how do I generate the power to pushoff to turn my body for around the head?
    Because of this problem, my receive position is always too far to the left, making my short forehand return too passive since my step has to be so big.

      Hi
      Mistable good question. So in your case that there are 3 steps to help you.
      Step 1 : Shifting your weight to the back foot from front foot
      Step 2 : Use back foot to generate power
      Step 3 : If you fast enough then can try just jump up and hit shuttle but if not then can try do one more shuffle to help you reach the shuttle.
      Practice it and test it out then let me know any questions you have.
      Thank you very much

      @@ALLiaoBadmintonCoaching Ahh, that makes sense. Thanks Al!
      I need to strengthen my legs and practice to make my jump bigger from my back foot so I can turn for scissor kick in around the head.

    I dont mind flick serve but I really hate when the server serve from high position. I mean, the racket is as high as their chest area. That is illegal. But no one complaint because no service judge in the club.

      Ikr, and they serve so flat, towards the back of the court, it's impossible to return lol

      You don't need a service judge. You should call them out yourselves, tell them to keep it at waist height at the maximum.
      The official rules right now cant be followed without a special device and someone to use it. But the old rule "at waist height" can totally be done in any setting.

    Some players cheat by driving the shuttlecock low to the back instead of flicking.
    The shuttlecock drops very fast from the drive, making it very hard to return...
    I chose not to argue with the cheating opponent...Is it a legal serve?

    • @ALLiaoBadmintonCoaching
      @ALLiaoBadmintonCoaching  4 года назад +1

      Drive serve is legal serve, but you won't see too much in the professional match due to service judge sometimes will fault that kind of serve. Because this serve is more between the grey area, so that is not illegal serve. Good question.....

    • @xxWidex
      @xxWidex 4 года назад +1

      For intermediate and above, drive serve may backfire if the opponent reacts fast enough and hit offensive shot as the shuttle is facing up like a flick.

      @@tckchannel4435 yeah, but if I remember correctly, 9 out of 10 times the receiver will hit a fast drive back.

      I see that sometimes professionals use this. Mostly in intense points, they drive serve to make receiver surprise and return with mistake.
