I might be going crazy, but I think both Greg and Jenny's voice seem deeper than usual in this vid. Might be the speed of the video or something, they seem to be talking at a slower pace than usual. I checked my video and it wasn't slowed down, so was probably on their end. Great video, regardless!
I love the energy that is somehow low-key. Having movement such as throwing the shuttle into the shot, transition to the backhand grip etc. gives a lot more engagement for the video. Keep it up!
Great video as usual. I personally don’t got many problems with my flick serve but it is still good to know on what i should focus more to get an even better flick
I've just started at a new club and they use feathers instead of nylon and this tutorial was perfect. Also Gregg couldn't help but notice you sound a little under the weather? Get well soon!
Great tutorial! I really appreciate the clear and concise instructions and the slow motion shots. The backhand flick serve is such a useful shot to have in my arsenal and now I feel much more confident trying it out on the court. Thank you for sharing your expertise. - Unknown31
Another great video - many thanks indeed. I hadn't considered the advantage of flicking cross-court in terms of moving the opponent the furthest away. Keep up the great work and all the best in your matches.
Happy New year Greg, Jenny and all the badminton insight community !! 🎉🎊 Hope you all had great holidays ! Thanks for thé video as usual 😉 and best of Luck in Kuala Lumpur 💪
Great video! I have been trying to work on the power of my flick serves but its still low on height and hardly gets to the mid-court of the opponent, making it an easy kill. Any recommendations to increase power?
Thanks for this video guys. I was struggling to get the proper technique for the flick serve but this helped me get better. God bless you Greg for still being in the video even though you sound a bit under the weather. Get well soon. 👌
I am good at flick serve but didn't know ONE THING till now that is the shuttle positioning, slight tilt in position of shuttle gives that much difference and yes thanks for that will definitely notice the the outcome in next matches. THANKS
Great video! squeezing with my fingers to create the power made all the difference in my flick serve. On the side note: how to avoid hitting the rim of my racket in general? Some days seems to be worse than others and I couldn't find a good video to lear how to avoid this.
I find I generally hit the racquet frame when I'm late to the shot or don't get my timing right. If you're in the right position and on-balance, you should find the strings (and sweet spot!) everytime. So work on your footwork and anticipation - the split step is the key!
Happy New Year guys. So happy to see you guys again on Sundays. Finally my course work for badminton is resuming. I am genuinely sad that you won't be playing the India Open. However, all the best for Indonesia and Malaysia open. ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
notable takeways: grip goes from loose to tight, and flick down the center when it's backhand-side is particularly effective (when not expected). near the end greg mentioned how the flick can create an opening on the court because the receiver's center of gravity gets behind him. so, how should the non-receiving partner respond to that?
What adjustments would you recommend making if flicking from a spin serve setup (with a bevel grip and the racket face open, as demonstrated in your video with Marvin Seidel)?
Thanks for this video! Great to know that I’m doing my flick serve right 👍 I just need to practise controlling the backswing/power a bit more. Great video as always 😊
hey could you please upload a video on accuracy and placement of the shuttle within court in smashes since i am a newbie it like takes a lot of time to aim my smashes can't do the the smashes like professionals. BTW love from india bro
Hi great video Are there any trick to determine by looking at the flight of a flick serve that it's away Off course having a idea of your team lines is best Regards vineet
I just found this channel a little while ago and I was certain I had seen Jenny before somewhere. Turns out she looks very similar to Finlands minister of education Li Andersson.
Hi Jenny and Greg, thanks for the video. Can you help clarify something about service rules? I understand the whole shuttle must be below 1.15m, but if your racquet goes above this height on the follow through (which is more likely on a flick serve), is this a fault?
The shuttle leaves the racket at 1.15 m. What you do with your racket after the shuttle is gone, well, nobody cares. Fault is, when your racket hits the shuttle ABOVE 1.15 m while serving
do you have any advice for improving the accuracy of a flick serve? that seems to be my main issue with this serve as I tend to rely on my low serve too much. I guess I just need to practice it more?
slightly unrelated but what an amazing flex it is using BWF footage of yourself as examples haha any comment on pro players preparing with the racquet face facing downwards? I feel like it's a deception thing where the strike always features the raquet face rotating upward at least some bit, so the opponent can't tell if the player is hitting it short, flat or high.
@@hydrofudgezlanimated2237 I think singles players do it more than doubles, usually because they have more time to react to a high serve. And they've probably been watching tennis players, who have a much heavier racquet!
Hmmm... always seem to hit mine out the back... maybe it's cause I play too much singles 😂 definitely will try the flicking out wide to the tram line 😁
Yeah the extra distance the shuttle has to travel will hopefully reduce these mistakes! But also try to use the squeeze of your fingers and thumb to generate the power which you should be able to control more 👌🏼
Are you lefties both or is it my smartphone constantly glitches on your channel? YT shall add a button to correct it. Still I do experience much trouble about such a flick serve. It's very tricky but so much fun to return it.

Most likely
Your right bro

I'm a complete beginner, so watching and re-watching all your super helpful tutorials. Thank you! 😊
Thanks Sarah that’s great to hear 😄
Great video as usual. I personally don’t got many problems with my flick serve but it is still good to know on what i should focus more to get an even better flick

I like the outtakes at the end. Please continue to include them. 😁
Awesome Video Jen and Greg! Hope your cold gets better Greg!
Thanks Nikhil 😀

Ah, thanks for the nice words! Glad we could help 🏸
I generally have issues with height control on my flick serve, so the information on racquet and shuttle position is going to be very helpful!
Glad we could help 🙏🏼
Another great video - many thanks indeed. I hadn't considered the advantage of flicking cross-court in terms of moving the opponent the furthest away. Keep up the great work and all the best in your matches.
Happy to hear we could teach you something new 😄 and thank you!
I have recently been trying to perfect my backhand serve and was thinking of learning the flick serve so Thank You guys for this
You’re welcome! Hope it helps 😀
Love the details you guys go through! I use this serve a lot and I felt it is most effective whenever I stand at an angle and not close to the T.
Thank you! 😄 just be careful of standing too far away as this can potentially expose some gaps on the court for your opponent to hit into!
What a great catch at 2:46 😂😂 Very eye catching! Appreciate these little production effects that you guys add!
Haha thanks 😂
Great visual effects and acting. Well done!
Haha thanks! 😊
Thanks for the advice on mixing the low and flick. Another informative video
Just exactly what I needed! Thanks a lot!
I have learnt a lot from all your videos...
Love from India ❤
Ah that’s amazing to hear ☺️
Wow, great video as usual, and I can't wait to try this out. BTW, my game has improved greatly since I started watching you guys, so thanks! 👍
That’s awesome to hear 😊🏸
Thanks! Love the bit of humour in the videos!
Nice vid! As a “Friends” fan, you guys being “Gregg and Jenny” made me smile.
So many details, guys.
Thanks a lot!
Welcome 😆🙏🏼

Thank you so much, and happy new year to you too 😄
Its 2023! Cant wait for your new upcoming vids. Especially on summer 2023 😏 iykyk
😂👌🏼
i was literally looking up how to better my technique on the flick serve yesterday- so thank u ^^
Ah great timing! Hope it helps 😀
Great video, highlights all the important aspects and shows me where I need to improve. Can't wait to see what you all have in store for us in 2023 🎉🥳
The keeping racket angle at 45 degree is something I missed. Maybe I will get better next time.
Nice video thanks
Glad we could help 😃
I already know how to do this but i just love watching your videos when i get back from training, loving the content!
Thanks so much, this tutorial videos are sublime! Now I can do it better.
That’s great to hear! Thanks ☺️
Great video! I have been trying to work on the power of my flick serves but its still low on height and hardly gets to the mid-court of the opponent, making it an easy kill. Any recommendations to increase power?
I learnt this in like 15minutes after playing with myself for a bit... Didn't fully master it yet but it's getting more consistent

great video as usual 😇 my gf just started learning the flick serve, and this video just has the perfect timing :D
Thanks 😄 hope this video helps her!
Thank you guys hope you have a good new year 😀
We hope you do too 😀
This is easily my favourite serve along with the short serve
Wooo thanks! 😄

hi there

That’s so kind of you, thanks 😊
Superb explanation bud !🤩
Thanks 😊
Did anyone notice that shuttle catch and script timing. Smoooooth 😎
🤪
Hey guys an awesome video😍 this will definitely help me a lot. A suggestion is can you make a video on all kinds of service faults?
Glad we could help 😄 and thanks for the suggestion!
Amazing video and loved the bloopers. :D
Good stuff ! Thank you both 😊

can do doubles backhand rear court pressure shot tutorials? Is a bit like backhand drive but is done at the rear court.
Nice video! Keep it UP!
Thanks 😃
How much times did it take for you to catch the bird 2:46😂😂😂
Great vid, 👍🏼 Greg sounds a bit full of cold.. 🥶 love the badmo bloopers...
Thanks Andy! Yes he was, but thankfully better now 😊
This is great tutorial Normally i use forehand serve
Thanks!
Im a beginner, your vids are gidsend
Waking up the homies, Badminton insight dropped a new video
🤩🏸
New subscriber here! I like your videos!!
Thank you for mentioning "generally" flicking out wide, it helps a lot 💪
Because the inside flick is much harder 😂
Yes we find it’s harder to get the right height of the centre line flick, and you also need to be more accurate for it to be effective!
@2:46 How many takes?😀
Only a couple 😜
Love ur content
Thank you! 😄🏸

Thump up for all of the top notch face expression & knowledge.
Tough luck on that opening round. But hopefully we could hear you on commentary with Gill!

Haha, he had a cold but still wanted to film 😅
Can we replace the rubber out sole of our badminton shoes?
Which badminton you use
this vid is hilarious great job
Haha thanks 😀
sir what strings and tension did u use on victor thruster FC enhanced?????
Greg uses VBS-66 at 31lbs and I (Jenny) use VBS-68 at 30lbs!

Thanks Daniel! Yeah haven’t been too well 😢 Better now though 😃
Thank you

Can we do wrist rotated flick serve with slight power without violating all the service rules that you have mentioned ?
No one knows the effort for shooting a video, I often make tong twists and multiple retakes all the time 😂
Lol greg messing up at the end also thanks for the tutorial
😂
Thank you for the video!
By the way, are you using a new microphone? Your both voices sound lower now :)
Nope! 🧐 Greg had a bad cough/cold, maybe that is it?
@@BadmintonInsight Oh, i hope he recovers quickly!
Why do people (people who aren’t serving) hold their racket with two hands in the beginning? Only after the serve do they release
