    I love the way these videos are made. Quality is top-notch! Key details are highlighted to be shown via text on-screen, audio crisp and clear, video has great angles and relevant to the topic; there's enough explanation to fill not only the what and how, but also the when, where, and why. Y'all are awesome!

    Remaining relaxed before the point of contact is something I definitely need to practice. It’s also a surprising to know that bigger muscles actually hinder your swing speed. Really great video, can’t wait to start trying these tips.

    • @streetninja23
      @streetninja23 2 года назад +5

      It's more than that.. bigger muscles can give you more power but you will have to train them for a faster/stronger SMASH.
      Simply bulking up won't automatically improve the shot.

    • @Koozwad

      More mass could theoretically improve power but I also think it depends on the person. If you have a naturally fast swing speed then you likely wouldn't want to reduce that advantage by adding mass. Then again I wonder how much difference it would make at the end of the day, because the swing speed could power through regardless. Don't think there are any rules set in stone but there's always an optimal result which will be different for everyone. There have been plenty of top doubles players with big arm(s) and strong smashes. The Korean guy(Ko?), Praveen Jordan and Fu Hai Feng come to mind. Just start with what makes you feel most comfortable. Can't really go wrong with having a solid all-round physique foundation with focus on bodyweight exercise mastery. I find that lifting weights adds too much 'useless' mass and makes one too big. Focusing on slow bodyweight reps will really give you crazy strength relative to mass.

    Alright, Let's address the featherless goose in the room.
    This has gotta be one of the best, if not the best, badminton channel on RUclips. The clear commentary, the demonstrations, cutaways, extremely high brow humour and all round quality of the videos is brilliant.
    Thank you to everyone involved in the production of these videos. They are a joy to watch, on top of providing some very insightful knowledge.

    The guide is extremely good, regarding the "stay relaxed before shuttle contact" tip, I cannot competely agree. The core needs to stay strong so the players movement doesn't collapse, also having a too loose grip (for non-professionals) is straight up dangerous. Teammates might get injured due to the racket flying out of hand. Emphasising a relaxed shoulder might be a better alternative than straight up mentioning "stayrelaxed".
    I think both those points were covered in your smash tutorial, but I just wanted to point them out.
    Very nice video, keep up the good work!

    • @BadmintonInsight
      @BadmintonInsight  2 года назад +1

      Thanks a lot Yichen! Engaging your core just before you hit is important yes. When we say have a relaxed grip we are talking about your preparation, as soon as you strike the shuttle you need to squeeze it firmly - firstly to create power and secondly, as you mention you don’t want to let go of your racket 😂 Keeping your shoulders relaxed is a good tip too you’re right! We mentioned this in our smash video also as you say 😊 thanks a lot for the comment - we always want feedback!

    Great video as always! But before improving my attack, can I make a video request on how to set up the rally/pace of the game so we get more of these opportunities to attack? How do I get my opponent to make errors? Sometimes I find myself always defending in doubles, and at most drives. Ex: Should I do more hairpins, deceptions, net serve returns, etc.? Thank you!

    • @Ztormrageheero
      @Ztormrageheero 2 года назад +2

      Use the whole of the court would be my number one tip.
      Second one would be to play shots to the weaker player. Weaker player should give you weaker shots to return.
      Third tip would be to vary your shot selection. If you get stuck in a drive situation you can angle your racquet to change where the shuttle goes or hold it a bit softer to block it to the net.
      Final tip. Work on your serve and return.

    if possible pls do a explanation video or RUclips shorts

    • @therealbennaldbaconismaxim3315
      @therealbennaldbaconismaxim3315 2 года назад

      if you have lots of time, you look briefly before you hit, but all of your plays should be based on moving them around the court. You should be able to push them closer to where you want, know their last position and hit a shot based on where you last saw them/where you have been pushing them.
      Looking is not necessary, for example watching lots of men's singles matches you will notice how infrequently they look at opponent before they hit. They know where their opponents are based on previous shots.

    Once upon a time I was a heavy Smasher, i used to buy the heaviest and stiffest racquets & hog the rear court... then I met people with impregnable defence, people who don't lift at all, people who challanged me to a 'NO SMASH' game, partners with non existent net play, played on courts with increased net height & of course have days when every smash from rear/mid/front position lands outside the line or into the net.
    And all of that pushed me to become a more balanced player.
    Conclusion:- Don't be a One - trick pony.

    Hi guys, great video as usual. I am sorry but I didn't understand what you meant by "range of motion". Do you mind explaining a bit more please?

    • @BadmintonInsight
      @BadmintonInsight  2 года назад +1

      Range of motion refers to how far apart you can stretch a part of your body! Hope that helps 😀 🏸

    If you and your partner are opposite-handed, one is left-handed and the other right-handed, how would you incorporate channel shots? Would you have to play more cross shots to set up your partner's forehand?

    • @BadmintonInsight
      @BadmintonInsight  2 года назад +1

      Good question Dylan! Possibly yes but you can also attack straight from your round the head side to set up their forehand 😀

    Yeah I find myself making it far to easy for opponents to defend. I have a very strong smash but almost always hit it to places where it'd be easiest to hit them back. These days I actually try to aim my smashes(huge difference). There's a realisation that really helped me - from hitting hard you won't really improve, but from aiming you definitely will. Attack with a plan. Aiming is so incredibly important because even if you have the hardest smash in the world it won't make much of a difference as the shuttle slows down so much anyway over time. Good accuracy will work wonders for everyone, while pure smash power won't really make much difference against better/faster players.

    So when shall we use the clear in doubles? Or do we always just drop and smash?
    Because whenever i only do drop and clear my rubbish partners complain saying i should do clears

    How to avoid lifting in men's doubles? Whenever my opponent plays an attacking drop shot, I always tend to lift it back, instead of playing a close net shot or a drive. How to rectify this? Thanks a lot.
