    There is a Black content creator that says "Black Excellence is exhausting, I embrace Black mediocrity follow me for more tips and advice" and once I processed what she said I stepped off my high horse/soap box, feet kicked up, resting, relaxing on the couch. No more overdoing it for myself or anyone else either. When people say BW take the cape off, that includes the Black Excellence cape!

    I subscribed to your channel over a year ago...maybe 2 years ago. I rarely watched your videos because I was afraid that it would challenge everything that I thought for over 30 years. I also joined your Facebook group and tangentially sat in jealousy of all of the women who were taking control of their lives. I'm 55 years old, unmarried, childless, unemployed, and my passport is expired.
    Today I watched your video all the way through and I cried, but I am also inspired. I'm not afraid.
    Thank you. ❤

    I've always hated the terms....
    "Black girl magic"
    "Black Excellence"
    "Strong black wine"
    Suggests that if you haven't achieved XYZ that you aren't worthy of that "title" or you aren't successful.
    Almost 3yrs ago I started over at 53yrs & moved from Detroit where I grew up to Myrtle Beach where I had never been. I'm starting my speaking career!

  • @dwn2earth260
    @dwn2earth260 5 месяцев назад +24

    Well, I'm 54 and I've always been a late bloomer. I had a "good" job that I didn't like, but it paid well. I decided to bite the bullet and buy a house for stability as I grow older. Pre-approved for the house, laid off last year and still looking. Living with relatives, some are happy to help, some aren't. This definitely isn't how I imagined my life at this stage, but it's time to reimagine things. To all who are starting over, you're not alone in your anger, disappointment, sadness, or uncertainty. I'm sending prayers for doors and opportunities to open for you, hold on ladies, take a deep breath, cry, and pivot. Things will work out well for us. ❤

    • @lulu07Lulu

      Buy a house NOW while you have W2's reflecting you worked. No one is asking for 2024 taxes to prove employment. They are going of last year. So buy the house now. Once you have the keys, RENT those rooms out. Look into a!rbnb. You can rent 1 room while you live in the other on the other side of the house and that will pay your mortgage.

    • @ahnraemenkhera7451
      @ahnraemenkhera7451 5 месяцев назад

      GO with instinct every time! Don’t “pause” & let some Nutter come along & talk you out of your best life. People believe they’re sane because they’re just meeting all watermarks (house/apt/car/-job/children).
      What they never admit is that monkey-see/monkey-do is NOT a key to happiness. What they never display-out of fear & guilt-is that the whole society wants them to drop dead of exhaustion! So they can all emotionally release & feel like they did the right things rightfully.
      But when you reflect, ask yourself, WHO has ever been trained or educated to “care” about BW? WHO is best-qualified to be executive director of my own life? Almost all of us can compare notes & scars, anytime, about how, “Girl! I just soldiered-on!” “I didn’t let him/her stop me! (from slaving-away for a paycheck!!)” “We’re STRONGER than that!” etc., etc. JUST to get right back onto a treadmill that was never intended for us to be rewarded, treated, thanked properly, or even given a nice break on.
      Listen to that heartfelt clarion & let your God & the universe lead you out of Collective Insanity into Clarity, where few of us go. IF you let the world STOP, right where you are, your own mind will take you where you SHOULD be. And it isn’t despair, drudgery, or misery with people trained to sell us exactly that-trained by TV, by internet, by every definition they “know” of how to watch us suffer, then laugh about it. Which IS KRAZY!
      I know you’ll come out of the current slump! But don’t LET it be to get into another one afterward by systemic design. Break out of the grind by letting “things” you’re supposed to care about go! Don’t wait for a survey of approval & don’t TELL people what they have earned no rights to know. Just map out a plan, quickly, quietly & secretly (safely though) & keep powering-through that-as if your favorite boyfriend depended on it! Don’t tell him, either, though.
      When you look up again, you’ll be back in-charge, working your plans step-by-step, & well on your way to better-no disruptions & emergencies allowed. I was 40 once. It doesn’t come back.
      Best Wishes & Best Regards, Sincerely. 🌸🌷

    I'm planning a sabbatical and normalizing free time has been a great step toward that. I let go of extracurriculars, commitments to groups/people... Sometimes i feel bad but honestly it feels so good to just be still.

    Great video!!! I took a sabbatical last year after quitting my job and having my husband walk out of our marriage! I just needed time to rest and as much as I wanted to travel or just pack up and leave, I didn’t! I just took time to cry, reflect, deflect, etc. I know I’m
    not going to work myself to death for the foreseeable future! I’m waiting to get my youngest off to college so I can figure out my game plan for myself. It’s MY time (almost) and time to move on and forward!!! I will be 49 this year and I’m just taking it day by day!

    This is me and I am determined to make my neww life work. . I do feel people I care about judging me: how did you end up here- a person like you, or you should have planned better, or XY and Z? I usually handle these comments with silence or simple and truthful responses that people really do not want to hear. They have their minds made up about MY life. So, I keep my sense of self and humor. Ive no time for convincing folk about anything really. That said divorce and breast cancer kicked me off the ladder of success which I was steadily climbing despite the odds for a Black woman, " aperson like me." I simply refused to give in. I am still here and so thirlled to know this community of women. I exult in all your successes because it means I can still do it. Im listening! Ive banished shame and guilt and say, " Congratulations to ME."
