I have had my Crown Limited for a month and love the vehicle. The ride is library quiet and so comfortable. Go test drive a crown and see for yourself. It has consistently exceeded the EPA mileage ratings.
So tired of many reviewers of the Crown crying about its not a sedan and its not an suv. Who cares, I don't. After years owning Honda accords, we wanted a more quiet and smoother ride. Went looking at Lexus and similar sedans, because my wife, who this is technically her car, doesn't want or like SUV's. Yes that's an unpopular opinion in todays America, but it is what it is. Anyway, the Lexus hybrid sedans don't offer awd, and they sit too low. Climbing in and out of this car is great, not the oh my knees and back trying to get in and out, it is much easier than sedans, without the hassle of climbing into an SUV, which due to some mobility issues, my wife just can't get in some SUV's. We drove the new accord hybrid, which again is not awd, and it is still a noisy rougher riding car. We opted for luxury plus awd and for us, a preferred ride height. We absolutely love our Crown limited.
I agree with your assessment perfectly!! The Crown is considered near Luxury, as apposed to Lexus full luxury. The small price differences he is talking about is a Fully Loaded Crown versus the base ES Lexus Model. The actual $$$ difference is quite a bit when you measure fully loaded versus fully loaded. And, the Crown offers features that the Lexus ES currently does not offer, including a raised platform which I do like. The car is also smoother riding, quieter, and more luxurious than a Camry, regardless if they have the same base platform. There is nothing wrong with the Camry at its price-point, but you have to pay a little more to have more features, quietness and comfort. I prefer a Sedan over an SUV because I can put a lot of stuff in the trunk and then close it off from the rest of the car. If you have a SUV, all that stuff is sitting with the passengers, which is something I don't like or want.
I think everyone is missing the obvious point and potential appeal of this car…in the snow belt states this is a win! All wheel drive and raised up suspension but not an SUV, much like the old AMC Eagle of the 80's. I think it will do well.✌️
Yea ok, maybe where you live. Maybe you should move. Yes I would have sales tax of 4k, sure as heck dont have another 11k in "fees". Prob a few hundred in plates, that's it
You know how some people look 'meh' online, but in person, they look surprisingly way better? Same situation for Crown. Looks pretty mediocre online, but in person, that 50K price tag all of a sudden makes a whole lotta sense.
@matw1x I agree 100%. My husband showed me the Crown online last year and my response was “Ew. No.” Yesterday he pointed out (the Crown) on the road and I said “I really like that!”. We subsequently test drove and fell in love. We were actually in the market for another SUV, not a passenger vehicle or sedan.
I’m eye balling this as an eventual replacement for my SHO. This is a close as anything has gotten o that car. A relatively tall, relatively luxurious, relatively speedy sedan.
The more things change, the more they stay the same. I'm kind of aging myself here but, as soon as I saw this thing it made me instantly think of the old AMC Eagle SX/4.
But with modern styling, dependability, sportiness, big size, lots of power, luxury and efficiency. Actually the complete opposite of a AMC Eagle. Your thinking of a Subaru Outback maybe. Maybe you should buy an SUV so you can't find it in the store parking lot because everyone else has the same looking POS. Wait, you probably already did and you already have that problem.
I bought a Crown platinum and love it. I love how it sits higher, and it drives beautifully and is so fun to drive. I like the room inside and how fast it accelerates. The seats are super comfortable, and I get so many compliments on it. My last 2 previous cars were Camrys.
The Crown is not a fancy Camry... It is a fancy Prius. The Camry has always been this car that is just the exact middle of the road. Middle Power, middle steering, middle everything. The Prius has always gotten attention (often for the worse) and is off of the middle. The Crown is the same way. It is different but netural. It is like a well refined Camry but has benefits of Lexus and benefits of something like a Prius. I prefer the look of the Crown Hybrid Sedan but that would not sell well in America (and really it should just be sold as the new es300h) so they brought the raised sedan and now the wagon (marketed as an SUV so people will buy it). I think the interior could have a few more materials and features for the price (at least the limited trim). When you look at something like a 2016 Buick LaCrosse Premium 2 you are getting a true luxury vehicle. We own a 2016 Leather 4d LaCrosse and drove the Limited and a looking to upgrade. Its price seems high for what you get. The Buick Premium 2 had: that the limited Crown does not... HUD (Color) 4 way lumbar rear sunshade 12 speaker Bose (may be better than the 11 speaker JBL) 304 HP (Trade off for MPG- 22) Amazing Ambient Lighting Built in Nav (now very outdated) curve assist headlights (Crown only adapts vertically) Better overall lighting (center console light etc.) Household outlet (WHY doesn't the Crown have it... It is a hybrid?) 4 way headrest. 10 way power seats (with the 4 way lumbar in addition) And MUCH MORE This is why the Crown needs to be its own brand in America- so we can get the features without them having to step up to a Lexus. We are talking about an eight year old BUICK (Not Cadillac) that has better features than a similarly priced flagship sedan. That Buick in that trim was about 39,000 and considering a Limited starts at 47,000 (2025) and goes up to 51,000 with the advanced tech package I think it should be better. We bought our LaCrosse 4d Leather for about 35,000. That is about 45,000 adjusted for inflation. Aside from the infotainment screen the cars are not really that different. The Buick has hood struts and an auto-lift tailgate that the Crown should defitenly have! -Just looked up what that $39,000 LaCrosse would be in todays money. It would be about $51,000. Sure- you don't get auto park but you get all the stuff I mentioned above that the Crown should have considering it is 8 years down the road. With the advanced Tech Package you might be getting 21's but the Buick had 20's and on 245 width tires. The Crown is stuck with 235. I Love the Crown for the range (600 miles) and overall MPG fun of driving it but that of-course is traded for the sound of the CVT and other hybrid things. In addition to that, you get to deal with some of Toyota's annoyances like crazy beeping and other features that are not fun to deal with. I Love the Crown so very much but I think it can be better for the position in the lineup and price it has. Even the 22 Avalon had a power tilt/teloscope wheel, dynamic turn signals, and other things. I guess it just sucks when you feel like upgrading but unless you spend a crazy amount of money you don't actually upgrade. Edit- Sorry for ranting to you.
I've recently seen 4 in my area. I can tell you I always get asked what car it is and they respond what a beautiful car!! I love mine. I ordered it in red and picked it up last August. My job location changed and I am driving further and it is so comfortable. Thanks Toyota!!
I also bought the Platinum, The best vehicle I ever owned love the instant power and ride quality and the layout for storage & functionality is awesome. I have owned a few sport cars and full size sedans & sport suvs and this is the perfect middle ground with phenomenal gas milage. I hear all the time people say save money and get a camry or get the es300 or es350. I did test drive all those and let me tell you the es350 is nothing like the older es350 i heard wind noise and rattles on 3 different 2024 models that is bs they are not the same as they once were.
I drove the Platinum Crown for 4 days (310 miles). Really great car. Looks like a crossover but drove like a Lexus sedan on lifts. Car will not fail as equipped (and its fast). If it fails, it will fail like most sedans as the market remains SUV-centric. People will except less luxury appointments to stay within budget for an SUV. Nissan Maxima was a great car (minus the CVT). It failed because sedans have fallen out of favor. Toyota is trying something new w/ the Crown (and the future Crown crossover that looks like a Genesis GV70). Let's see how it goes.
Considering the Platinum Crown is 70k including taxes and fees, it better be a really great car. It's way overpriced and it's smarter to buy a Lexus or Benz for that price.
@@braetonwilson4296 Can't disagree. Put a Lexus badge on it (similar to doing the same on a Venza), get on a blindfold and it may be tough to say it is a Toyota. Even sitting in a top of the line (anything) Chevy and you might think it's a top of the line Buick. Main stream manufacturers once catering to blue collar folks have been stepping up their value.
I went to the dealership and test drove one of these. My bf hated it when i was showing him reviews and photos on line. He saw it in person and drove, now he loves it and it considering trading in his nissan. I am definitely getting one. In person, this Crown is so beautiful, comfortable, fast and perfect height. I just wish it had a digital rearview mirror. But other than that, no complaints.
Same. Online photos didn’t do it justice. Saw it in person and after driving it knew it was “the one”. We were in the market for another SUV, not a passenger/sedan type vehicle.
You don't really need the digital mirror unless you are often going to have people in the middle rear seat. Unlike an SUV where to get that claimed space (20 Cubic Feet Plus) that often means you are stacking items way past the window towards the roof- this blocks out vision out of the rear. It is at that point that the rear view mirrior becomes helpful. I don't think it does much in a sedan unless you have a person in that middle seat.
I test drive Toyota crown it’s absolutely beautiful car. No one bad word you can say about it. And with high mpg is amazing. Inside is so beautiful and car looks from outside amazing. It’s my dream car
I am likely in the minority- but I really like the look of this car - especially in the two tone. Great review guys! The Giulia is definitely better looking and driving, but a Toyota/Lexus driver will actually want their car to work consistently 😂
I completely agree. This car in person is amazing. We drove a camry then the crown back to back. No comparison! The crown blew away my expectations! Love the ride height. Love the MPG with AWD!
I recently purchased the platinum trim. I traded in my Hyundai Palisade Calligraphy for it. I didn't need a 3 row SUV. The only thing I don't like about the Crown is the headroom. There's none, and i have to be careful about entry and exit. I'm 6'3. If you're 6' tall or taller, be prepared to be inconvenienced getting in and out. I don't take many short drives, so it's a minor issue but also noteworthy.
I agree, it's not weird looking at all. I think it looks Stunning, and can't at this time think of anything I would change about this car. And, you get much more luxury for the price-point than just about any other car I can think of. I don't want to pay Lexus prices, and even if I did, the current ES equivalent size model has not been refreshed for several years, and thus does not offer what this car offers!!!
I think Toyota knows what they’re doing … it’s really targeting younger audiences . I’m 25 and I’m thinking about trading in my 14 Cadillac CTS for this crown … a lot of it is the style and the fact it’s an awd hybrid .
The best Crown review ever. Love to hear all the different in term of taste and views of the car. I want this car for the weirdness, and for being like nothing on the road. I'd go for the Platinum.
The Avalon was a great car but you just sat way too low to the ground for the intended audience. This is exactly the vehicle I think a lot of people would like. It's like Subaru taking the Impreza and lifting it up and making a Crosstrek.
Not only does it look good it's reliable & with a unique shape it's so good that people are trying to find fault in other videos with it they just can't stand this car because it's got style & it stands out a mile from all other makes of cars you can tell they're so jealous because it's such a dam good looking vehicle & that's the truth the real truth.
I think the crown makes sense. Gets good gas mileage and sits high enough that it won't bottom out on steep inclines into parking lots or poor roads. Seems like a more usable Avalon to me. Also, the Platinum makes the least sense to me. I would take better gas mileage over more power.
really? the belt line is so high, the windows are so small. Makes it look ugly and fat.Way too overpriced too, it will cost 70k including taxes and fees. For that price, I'd rather buy a Lexus or Benz.
@@braetonwilson4296 Yeah, I like it. Looks sleek & sexy to me. I'm not the target audience for it, as I couldn't spend that kind of money on ANY car, but I like it OBJECTIVELY. If I somehow came into one, I wouldn't be disappointed at all.
Got the platinum magnetic gray can’t complain got it brand new for 39k no mark up it’s super fun 2.4l turbo love the engine it replaces the Nissan Sentra sr turbo and I have way more reliability behind Toyota no issues must have car 😏
"It's that thing with wheels!" "SedanUV!" Man, you guys are on fire! Dying here. And thank you both for not doing the mealy-mouthed, namby-pamby, "But NO-ONE is buying sedans anymore" schtick. Genesis G70 and 6MT Accord Sport (2013) owner here. Personally, I find this Crown thing kind of intriguing. As long as it's a great cruiser and has a nice ride, has lots of giddy-up, who cares?? I wish Toyota well on this thing. But I'd still rather buy an Integra Type S or CLA 45 for my third car, not this.
You guys for an excellent job on reviews. I think this vehicle is in a niche. The people who buy it, will probably love it… but at this price point… it won’t be s huge hit. I like it… stepping out from the norm, with innovation & flay; but i also realize not everyone thinks that way. Great review
I really like the looks of the Crown, and it will be on my list of cars to look at in the next few years. Especially with the Limited Model you get a ton of features for the price point, and it sits higher than the average Sedan. As I'm not a lead foot I don't need the Platinum model power, and would rather have 10 MPG more mileage. But, I do want more luxury as I'm getting older, but without having to pay Lexus prices. Unlike most of America, I actually prefer a Sedan where I can put a lot of stuff into it and close it off from the rest of the vehicle. So, I'm glad that Toyota is making the Sedan model, and didn't just skip directly from the Avalon to a Crown SUV.
I've had my crown for about 50 days now. Got into a deer accident 15 days in and haven't driven it since... I just want my car back. Sadness aside, I remember liking the height a good amount. Yea i know its not something specific, but why does it have to be? Just an interesting hybrid with good creature comforts, awd, and great millage. The specs on paper are amazing past the body.
For us older folks, we have already owned dozens of different types of cars and trucks over the decades. Some were a blast, (Mach 1 , Pontiac GTO, Sunbeam Tiger,) utilitarian, family oriented, pos, newest fad or what ever we could afford. Been there, done that mentality. So yes, now I want a vehicle that is a reward to own and drive, not something that's forced
Test drove a base model, its all dealer had. Very nice. Love the look. For the money it should have an adaptable suspension system. Had a 1997 Lincoln Mark V111 LSC years ago. It had a airbag suspension system that was awesome. At 50mph the car would lower 1" and it would sense the distributed weight to level car plus it would stiffen the suspension in the mountain curves or soften the ride on the long freeways. I could take 30mph curves @ 55mph with no body roll! Loved when you opened the door the steering wheel retracted, lifted up, seat slid back, then when you closed the door it returned to the drivers set positions. It had a 2 person memory. When you put it in reverse the door mirrors would automatically lower so you could see your rear tires. Great feature when parallel parking. It hada 4.6 v8, 290 hp, 2K towing capacity and got 26mpg highway! But alas, i gotta say at 120k the airbag went bad, 5k repair (didnt do that) and around 150k little things started going south, so sold it @ 180k but the engine and 4 speed tranny still worked great. Used about a 1/2 qt of oil between 3k mile changes. But it was $40k new, which is $76k in todays money.
Great review as usual guys. I like your opposing viewpoints as well. Personally, I drive an SUV and I choose it for the convenience; being able to haul oversized stuff etc., but I love cars. There is a sleekness and maneuverability that you get in a car that is lacking in most SUVs. I find this Crown interesting because it's different and slots between car/SUV. I would prefer that the trunk had a hatch and for me, a more conservative one tone color, but love the performance figures and capability. There aren't much out there in this size category that is getting 30mpgs and the Toyota predictably reliability would make this a great choice.
The dual tone color is an option. This has a hybrid and a turbo which makes working on it worse (when it needs it). Also, this sedan has less cargo space than something like a chevy Trax which has a much smaller turning circle and is more maneuverability.
I have bored to see same type cars. I had test crown and es300h same day crown looks better and different than others. Just lexus ride was better because of 18" tires crown had 21". I have driving 2023 model d class suv but boring nothing special they are everywhere. My opinion these days all cars more better than average so which is different which is makes u feel better and special just get it.
It's an MUV "Medium Utility Vehicle" it Reminds me of the infiniti x45 i drove with an 8 cylinder. Great power, good room but sporty and not too low or too high. I think there's a market for this medium height vehicle with decent power and handling while getting good mpg. Im not too keen on the front and rear facial but then again I drive a 95 Porsche 993 so I want everything to have perfect curves without any sharp angles. 😅
How do you say "The Homer" in Japanese? Smh. Like the Buick Regal TourX, Ford TaurusX, or Honda CrossTour before it I'll give it 3-5 years before Toyota pulls the plug.
yeah i just did a 500 mile road trip in my dads 2017 accord hybrid touring and it got 45 mpg on kinda knoby not eco tires. so this new hybrid getting 30 or less is really bad.
That vehicle does 0-60 in 6.9 seconds. This does it in 5.7, they're intended to be completely different beasts. Compare the Touring to the Crown in Limited trim and the Crown is listed at 41 mpg, but almost everyone driving one gets well above that, myself included. I've been getting 46.9 in the city.
Toyota making a hybrid "lukewarm" Subaru Legacy...and creating a new niche...I propose sedUV (seh-doov). Also, Paul's CEO/Marketing Director/whatever explanation just seems to be how companies make things where people just go "what were they thinking"... I don't think people will buy lots of these...I'm with Todd here
What if the Crown is the fourth turning of cars and represents the near death of the SUV? Will we look back ten years from now and praise the Crown as the harbinger of better times?
Crown window belt line is too high and windows are too small. Looks ugly. It will cost 70k including taxes and fees, way too overpriced. Sedans should be low and sleek.
@@braetonwilson4296 how the fck does one pay 15k in taxes and fees? You mean interest? You have to pay interest on anything no matter the MSRP. You probably paid 200k for your 50k house.
richard, just the sales tax on a 56k car can be 5k, so that brings total to 61. Another 3k for doc fee, registration, and titling. So now total is 64k. Now add in pre-installed accessories like paint protection, nitrogen tires, mug guards, floor mats etc. and you have 70k.
@@braetonwilson4296 It still doesn't add up to 70k. You have to tell them you don't want the additional BS. It's not any different than buying a 55k Buick made by spoiled fat UAW workers that make lower quality vehicles in Lansing MI. My friend from work bought a new RAV 4 yest. and paid sticker plus tax, nothing more. FYI you have to pay tax on any kind of vehicle.
A miss. We are seniors. We are probably the target audience. No more trunks. Hatchbacks are much more user friendly. With a hatchback this would be my next car.
Why won’t anyone review the audio system? I’ve looked at 20+ Crown videos and only one referenced the music system. JBL is not known as a top quality audio system. What does it sound like to you!
I am not a Toyota/Lexus buyer. I look at this thing and don't understand its appeal. But Toyota sells more cars than anyone; obviously they have a good read on the market. So I wouldn't bet against it being successful. It'll be interesting to see how it does. Then again, the execrable bz4x shows that Toyota can occasionally swing and miss. But given how clear it is that they rushed that half-baked design to market because they felt they had to I'm not sure it counts for much.
I think the BZ4X is an intentionally low-volume EV. They didn’t want to risk a big costly mistake, such as VW having to idle ID4 plants due to poor sales, or GM suffering with the Bolt fires/Ultium production troubles. The BZ4X will sell just enough to test production strategies and get dealership sales/service familiar with EVs.
@@TheEquationSlayer I don't disagree. And it makes sense for a company to take a 'piloting' sort of approach to introducing a new product based on technologies that it isn't familiar with. Still, it's SUCH a bad design, clearly at least 3-5 years behind the industry, that I can't help but think they panicked and rushed it out. You can't make me believe a company with Toyota's prodigious r&d, engineering, and manufacturing chops would market such an inferior product unless it felt it just didn't have time to improve it and had to get something in the market post haste. I think this the most likely explanation for the bz4x especially given how Toyota has pretty much done a fast 180 on its announced EV plans since they shipped it, with lots of publicity about how class-leading its next-gen platform will be when it's ready in the latter half of the decade, after years of rather loudly downplaying the need for the industry to move rapidly in this direction.
@@MLHunt I haven’t driven one, but most reviews seem to state it’s similar to the ID4/MachE/Ioniq5, just slightly worse range/charging speed. It’s got more ground clearance than its competitors too.
Hi, from Japan!! Oh, Toyota badges are put on the car instead of Crown badges. I wanna know why. Buying Crown was the one of goal for fathers in Japan in old days. Now, they shift their thinking to Lexus.
Toyota is smart. Being totally electric is stupid. You gotta tell me out in the middle of Nevada or Utah. I'm gonna find a charging station every 300 miles. I know a section of road in California. You can go a 125 miles. And that's between gas stations, we're simply not. Ready for the hybrid? Excuse me for the fully electrical vehicle. If anything electric is the wrong choice, we need to go hydrogen vehicle if they're trying to clean up the atmosphere. Toyota is Toyota is smart. The rest of the companies haven't figured it out yet. But Toyota has. And I've never owned a Toyota in my entire life. But if I was going to buy one, it would be a hybrid from Toyota. I've already made up my mind. That will be the owned everything that the 3 major companies in the United States plus foreign countries. Nissan and Korean countries as well in my life, 61 year lifetime. Never bought anything from toyor no, that will be my next vehicle. If I buy when i'm ready to buy
If it would have had a liftback, I’d be considering it. Come on Toyota! A #missedopportunity to go with your #hiddencompartment and your #wirelesscharger
The Avalon wasn't exactly a sports car to begin with, and the core demographic wasn't trying to make it one. This didn't need to be a sports car to replace it. The Camry TRD V6 or the IS is still around for that. Eventually the proper sedan version of the crown will replace one of those. But just acknowledging the existence of the X6 and the GLE coupe monstrosities ruined my day. But that trunk "cutout" is so strange. It changes for no reason, and its hard to tell of it's black paint or glossy black plastic that will be swirled and scratched immediately. Just keep it uniform.

This is why the Crown needs to be its own brand in America- so we can get the features without them having to step up to a Lexus.
The car is good looking.. dont listen to these old heads
I agree. I love the look and style. I’d buy the LTD trim for the gas mileage and some of the higher features.
I love the ES 350. I have owned an Avalon since 2000. I don’t like SUVs . I love the Crowns looks. I don’t think it’s weird at all.
We got rid of our Highlander for our Crown. Reason #1, doesn't look like everything else!
And, what it does look like is Stunning, at least to me!
It's a practical solution, hybird, reliable, refresh, seat higher than sedan, comfortable overall. Great new proposition !
We just took a 300 mile trip and averaged 39.5 mpg's, that's great with all the power it has. Toyota hit a home run with this car.
I think I just had an epiphany: You guys are the Frasier and Niles Crane of car reviewers 🤯
🇺🇸 the more I see the Crown... the more I like it. Waiting for the Crown SPORT! That will be a WINNER for sure.
Crown, reminds me of those air fresheners back in the late 80’s that were in everyone’s car. 👑
That's the only way to go, for me anyway.
I like it and I’m buying one. Don’t like SUV’s. Not everyone wants a sports car either.
The Avalon was a great car but you just sat way too low to the ground for the intended audience. This is exactly the vehicle I think a lot of people would like. It's like Subaru taking the Impreza and lifting it up and making a Crosstrek.
The Lifted Up Sedan (LUS) is the future of Sedans.
Yes, it is so easy to get in and out of, marketing at its best.
You are exactly right, I fell in love with it the first time I saw it.
focus group failure is spot on. that being said, i don't think it's that bad
I think the crown makes sense. Gets good gas mileage and sits high enough that it won't bottom out on steep inclines into parking lots or poor roads. Seems like a more usable Avalon to me. Also, the Platinum makes the least sense to me. I would take better gas mileage over more power.
I think it's beautiful.
really? the belt line is so high, the windows are so small.
I suggest you go see your eye doctor 👨⚕️
paulm LOL
Its the only non suv, awd hybrid with great gas mileage, and large sedan like
We recommend looking at Volvos line up as well. Plus the new Camry (this year) will be both hybrid and AWD. Thanks for watching!
I'd love to have one of these)
Got the platinum magnetic gray can’t complain got it brand new for 39k no mark up it’s super fun 2.4l turbo love the engine it replaces the Nissan Sentra sr turbo and I have way more reliability behind Toyota no issues must have car 😏
Great price!! We’re negotiating tomorrow for this exact vehicle (platinum magnetic gray)
Glad you enjoy what we do. Thanks for watching!
I'd love to have one of these, it's a unique car to drive 😍😍
We need the sport version they are selling in Japan. WAGON
I want one badly. Fixes 90% of the awkward styling of the sedan.
@@twinturboray the problem of wanting the wagon?
Just got this exact car, we love it!
Not everyone wants an suv. 😢The crown sedan is a great choice 😂
It is Lexus ES300H Ultra Luxury money at $55k. You get a better vehicle and dealership experience with a Lexus.
It's raised. The camry isn't, perfect for people who want easy ingress and egress without the stupid suv
The Toyota Cressida was great during it's time .
Waiting for the Crown Sport which will have a hatch back like an SUV.
I like it
It's not for me, but can see older people loving the idea of a lifted sedan.
I can see older people in an SUV before this really. God I hate SUV's.
I want one sooooo bad
This reminds me when Volvo had the S60 Cross Country. I don’t think they’ll sell many of these especially at the price they’re charging for them.
Paul! Toyota took your Mach E fix and made the crown…
I'm so torn on this. I like the idea of hybrid calibrated for power, but I'm not a fan of a jacked up sedan. It is interesting though.
"Sedan-UV" Thank you. 😂
Alfa Romeo vs Toyota? RELIABILITY. The main reason you would not simply buy a Lexus IS is because it is a lot more cramped. It is a compact sedan.
try crown sport if it gets here
How do you say "The Homer" in Japanese?
Wouldn’t that be interesting
Couldn't disagree with Todd more. It's got old school Eagle sedan vibes & makes it kind of cool. "Lifted sedans" are rad.
This is dumb. Sedans should be low and sleek. You want lift, get an SUV. why does everything have to be some Frankenstein amalgamation?
BZ4 is a first gen product.
The high-riding sedan body reminds me of the also awkward BMW 3 and 5 series GT cars. Also focused grouped, also a market fail overall.
I don't get it I feel like they just made Avalon worse. Avalons are sweet as hell they just don't have a great reputation for some reason.
They sold only 28k Avalons in 2019, down from 95k in 2005. More and more customers were leaving for an SUV/crossover, so Toyota had to do something.
It looks nice and stand out everywhere it goes. I can’t wait for its SUV ferrari.
I agree with the focus group theory.
Hi, from Japan!! Oh, Toyota badges are put on the car instead of Crown badges. I wanna know why. Buying Crown was the one of goal for fathers in Japan in old days. Now, they shift their thinking to Lexus.
hada kano onna! konichiwa! Toyota is well known in USA but no one knows what Crown is which is why Toyota badge is used, shinigami
@@braetonwilson4296 I don’t know why you are saying a naked woman and the grim of reaper in Japanese. LOL. But thank you for your message!!

@@braetonwilson4296 Oh, from Japanese anime Bleach!! Thank you for being interested in Japanese culture.

The rear end is reminiscent of Lucid Air. Trunk design is also similar between the two. Both should have been fastbacks.
What’s the sales numbers on these. I see none on the road.
Nice hashtags #dickweed
Lovely episode. This car reminds me of BMW 3 or 5 series GT not a sedan but not an SUV also. We know what happened to those.
Todd, it looks like you weren’t buying what Paul was selling.
This thing needs a hatch style lift. Not a trunk
Swiss Army knife - i'm sure they'll make an offroad version of this with some more body cladding.
If I had one I'd drop it at least 1" on coilovers
Looks like an electric shaver with wheels!
Sport Utilty Sedan. Subaru and Eagle did it first.
Lost me when long haired guy started talking about an Alfa. Come on man, people who are interested in Toyotas don't want something that isn't going to last 100k miles. Better all AROUND? Clown TAKE.
After 150 years of cars we're all going back to driving the equivalent of covered wagons 😅
I miss square cars.
Toyota should bring the Crown Sport (which looks like the Ferrari Purosangue) instead of this.
Wrong, the alpha does not get 30 MPG. It gets 33 highway, but the combined rating is well bellow 30. more like 27.
Subaru Legacy SUS...it was either ahead of its time or proof the raised sedan just isn't what people are looking for.
Does anyone think a vehicle with this type of power train will last as long as the power train they used to put in something like the old GX 470?
Prius has been around and it’s powertrain is bullet proof.
@@paulm6481 True about the Prius. But I’m not sure you can extrapolate that reliability to other vehicles that are much larger, heavier, and may be designed to haul more stuff, people, or even tow. You certainly could be right though.
@@Closertotruth2 this same powertrain is already proven in many other Toy's, the e-cvt is almost bullet proof...much different than your standard CVT and more reliable.
I don’t understand… is this car naturally aspirated or electric?….
It’s a turbo with a hybrid system.
Needs to just be a damn wagon. People have no damn taste
Test drove a couple of Crowns. Was tired of SUVs; wanted a sedan. Loved the way the car drove. Loved the interior. But, just couldn't get past the Nike "Swish" on the doors and the grill. Ugly. They look OK when sparkling new and shining. But we all know what happens to glossy black plastic after exposure to the elements for a few years. Nope. Especially for the price. Nope.
this was hilarious to watch.
Glad you enjoyed it. Thank you for watching!
For $55K you can get a fully loaded Lexus ES. This is just an absurd price to pay for a Toyota sedan.
honestly the loaded ES300 is more comparable with the limited crown which is still 5000-9000 cheaper. The platinum is only there for the hybrid max.
This thing really needs a wagon rear-end... a la ... oops, just saw they're already doing it in Japan! 🤣
Nobody is doing blacked out front fascia? How about BMW?!?
It's exactly like the old Venza, but that name is now being used by the Lexus wannabe.
AMC Eagle... That's all I'm saying.
Would make more practical sense if it were a liftback.
Even at that price point, still it's equipped with hood prop.
I think for reliability. I get a new car ever 2-4 years. I haven’t opened a hood in over a decade. The only person that opens my hoods are mechanics. And I’m sure mechanics like a traditional prop that works every time.
Prop rods are lighter and 100% more reliable, they never have to be replaced unlike gas struts.
