Can confirm it's excellent therapy! Have been working cross stitch since 1971 and it never gets old. Only a little way into this and the pieces shown are rather elementary which, of course, is where you start. Once you've got a few years practice (and increasingly complex patterns) under your belt you're ready for what I do: finished pieces on 16 count fabric that are 11" wide x 17" high with every square stitched. Hang one of these babies on the wall, step back a couple three paces and they look like paintings. My average working time is 18 months because this is my hobby, not my job.
I played this video to help me go to sleep, but halfway through I was so captivated that I jumped onto Amazon to order cross-stitch patterns and thread. 😊
Thank you so much for sharing this! I bought a Marie Antoinette (I am obsessed) cross stitch pattern and have no clue what to do. This lady seems so lovely. I would love to spend an afternoon hanging out with her.
Oh my gosh, I am so happy you put this on. I've cross-stitched for years, so I already know what she is saying, but she has the most soothing and calming voice. So if I listen while going to sleep, my brain wouldn't be trying to stay awake to hear what she is saying, and off I can drift.... With visions of cute cross-stitch patterns in my head. :) And, FWIW, I can't just sit and cross-stitch, but I have ADHD, and if I do cross-stitch in church, in classes, while listening to something else, it helps me listen, because the cross-stitch doesn't take much concentration. I only do it during those times, and while it may take a long time to finish a project, I've gotten quite a few projects done over time. It's kind of a meditative, be in the present, don't be so goal-focused, kind of thing. One time in church, I had a woman come up to me who turned out to be a doctor. She said she knits in medical meetings. Haha. For the same reason. So if you think x-stitch is boring, try doing it while you are doing something else. I'm told it lowers blood pressure. ;) In the meantime. Have fun drifting off to this ASMR loop!
Gold plated needles, not threaders :) The reason for it is that there’s less friction when passing it through the fabric, compared to steel needles. This allows you to stitch more quickly and makes certain stitches easier. Also, steel needles can get some corrosion from the oils in your skin. I’ve been working on the same project for almost two years, and my steel needles start to feel “sticky” after a while.
Apparently the Queen was given golden needles for a wedding gift and she was still using the same needles several years ago. I have no idea if she still stitches, but it’s a safe bet that she never lost those needles. I used the same needle for several years and yep I lost it, I was kinda sad, like the end of an era.
This dear woman is a gift! I too came here for asmr, her voice has helped me sleep. I admire her cross-stitching abilities, and it's relaxing to watch. If I were do do it, however, I'd wind up.frazzled! To each their own and I'm happy to watch and listen...

Everything soothing, calming, appeasing can be an ASMR session. I remember when I was 8 and one of the teachers was teaching me how to do the multiplication table I felt such a peace because of her smooth voice and beautiful handwriting I remember this to this date. Thank god for (the good) ASMR.
I came here for the asmr. Instead, I have become inspired to give cross stitching and embroidery a try. I didn’t realize how much I needed a hobby all along, until I started doing it. 🤣 if you’re like me and on the fence about trying it, go for it! This is amazing! I've been dabbling since virus-related lockdown, but seeing that software I'm in awe of the possibilities. It's one thing to just do a project someone else has designed, but quite another to be able to create one's own pattern, or even to copy an image or unique photo. I'm so excited!
This is how I do my patterns and I highly recommend it! 🙂 Plus, I’m not really a fan of all the back stitching, French knots and such, so doing a pattern from a photo which is all crosses is definitely my thing 😁

One time in church, I had a woman come up to me who turned out to be a doctor. She said she knits in medical meetings. Haha. For the same reason. So if you think x-stitch is boring, try doing it while you are doing something else. I'm told it lowers blood pressure. ;)
In the meantime. Have fun drifting off to this ASMR loop!
I really wanted to know why I should use a gold-plated threader :(
Gold plated needles, not threaders :)
The reason for it is that there’s less friction when passing it through the fabric, compared to steel needles. This allows you to stitch more quickly and makes certain stitches easier.
Also, steel needles can get some corrosion from the oils in your skin. I’ve been working on the same project for almost two years, and my steel needles start to feel “sticky” after a while.
@@justkelly2 The more you know.... Thanks!
Gold makes you feel like a royal stitcher
Apparently the Queen was given golden needles for a wedding gift and she was still using the same needles several years ago. I have no idea if she still stitches, but it’s a safe bet that she never lost those needles. I used the same needle for several years and yep I lost it, I was kinda sad, like the end of an era.
@@justkelly2 thank you for your answer !!!
This dear woman is a gift! I too came here for asmr, her voice has helped me sleep. I admire her cross-stitching abilities, and it's relaxing to watch. If I were do do it, however, I'd wind up.frazzled! To each their own and I'm happy to watch and listen...
This is great. I could listen to this woman for hours and hours! Such a relaxing voice.
Jane is wonderful. So soothing, peaceful. Positive energy.
Jane Napier is like the rockstar of cross stitch. Pushing it to the limit.
Can we all appreciate how lovely her kitchen is?? 😍😍
This makes me feel like embroiding a handkerchief and giving it to that handsome knight who sweared loyalty to our dukal house
I started watching this because of the ASMR title, and ended up watching because of a genuine interest in cross stitching that I never thought I would develop.
I know this isn’t a kitchen video, but I love that range in your kitchen! ❤️
The comments are gold! 😂 free late night entertainment! I want to be like this lady, just spending lost and lots of time doing my special interest and getting really great at it! What a great life, honestly.
She has a great voice. Her enunciation of the English lang. is incredible.
Everything soothing, calming, appeasing can be an ASMR session. I remember when I was 8 and one of the teachers was teaching me how to do the multiplication table I felt such a peace because of her smooth voice and beautiful handwriting I remember this to this date. Thank god for (the good) ASMR.
Was actually looking for a superb intro video to cross stitch and I found it! Cross stitch is so therapeutic!
Her newest book
"Snitches end up in Stitches"
is out now on Amazon!
This is one of the most relaxing videos I've ever watched. Her voice just makes me feel safe for some reason.
I came here for the asmr.
Instead, I have become inspired to give cross stitching and embroidery a try. I didn’t realize how much I needed a hobby all along, until I started doing it. 🤣 if you’re like me and on the fence about trying it, go for it! There are stamped embroidery sets online that has all the supplies needed, which will help you get the feel of it. It’s really relaxing and fun.
I somehow knew she would have an English accent just by looking at her hair.
Misha DiCaprio Why? What does English hair have that Other hair doesn’t?
me too lol brits are so identifiable
Mee to,the head lice gave her away
Rod Stewart hair
Her hair is cross-stitched.
"I wouldn't dream of spitting on the end .. .. .. much." Omg. This woman is legendary. Love her energy. I bet she's a hoot of a friend! :) Thanks for stitching her videos all together!
4:38 I’m crying, this lady is the best 😂
Ikr hahahahahaha, that made me crack UP
I'm starting my project right now. I've been hypnotized into finally doing it, thank u, ma'am.
Damn, I didn’t think this would actually be relaxing, but the second she opened her mouth, I almost passed out like I was hit by a plane! ✈️
I don’t know what I like better - the video itself or the comment thread. Gold!! 😂😂😂
I think Aidas being the Unit of measurement in cross stitching canvas is a great jeopardy question.
Love it!
This is the greatest video to fall asleep with AND this is the most amazing comment thread that I’ve ever seen! So positive and funny. I am a cross stitcher (it is very relaxing and a great creative hobby,) I do hope that y’all will give it a try!
Holy relaxing batman. I'm an avid cross stitcher and when she said "I wouldn't dream of spitting on the thread" I felt exposed! Also, I'm crazy impressed she is able to cross stitch without a hoop or a light. I need a light under mine to see where the holes.
Calm app needs to hire you ASAP. Your tone of voice is so calming and oddly assertive. I just started cross stitch and i got a huge one. And legit sat staring trying to figure out where to start
I listen to this at night regularly. Love it!
I have absolutely zero patience for cross stitching, but I love watching her do it! She's got a very soothing way of speaking.
You introduce us to the nicest people!
Glad this is a new one for ya. She is wonderful. :)
She is an absolute icon! I love her!
Neat lady
Whaat?! I can’t believe I just stumbled upon this RUclips channel. I can learn about a skill I’ve always wanted to try AND be super relaxed? I’m so happy.
Thanks for stumbling our way. Glad you're here! :)
WOW!! 3 of my favorite things got together!! ASMR, crosd stitch... and British accent!!
English accent.
Plus, I’m not really a fan of all the back stitching, French knots and such, so doing a pattern from a photo which is all crosses is definitely my thing 😁
Came looking for asmr, been a cross stitcher for 15 years. Love this
I really like the way she says “chart”. Very pleasing to the ears for some reason.
kinda sounds like she's putting a "W" in there. Chawt
Her voice is beyond enchanting!!!!! Soooo smooth and comforting. She's a gem!!!!!!
If all of her 22 books were made into audio books read by her, i would by them
They aren’t books to read, they are almost all books of patterns/projects
Some people mocking cross stitch in the comments while Jane Greenoff has made an amazing career and business out of it.
Anyone that can make it past 30 minutes without dozing off would be impressive
fell asleep 4 times while editing it. haha
I’m busy teaching myself to embroider again so this is very useful.
31 minutes in 😂
I thought I was going nuts but no it just repeats... 🙈
This is a hobby I could never do. I’d go crazy at the preciseness of it all & Id have to have a magnifying glass to see where to go. But, ooooo, the tingles with the sounds!!! Ahhhhhhhhhh!
