Ive been cutting my own hair since I was 13. DIY haircutting videos can really be all over the place. This was super informative and very easy to follow and understand. Thank you!
This is how I wear my hair and finding this video has just changed my whole world!!!!!! It was not intimidating at all to give it a try. My hair dresser doesn’t listen to me and so it always results in my hair being cut too short. I just tried this and I’m officially my own hair stylist. This was easy to follow along and the results were amazing . Just what i needed
wow that is so amazing im gonna give this a go next time i need my hair trimmed 😊
I am also always disappointed when I leave the hairdressers, that's why I started cutting my hair myself too
Same. I started cutting my own hair years ago because the hair stylists never listen!!!!!
Best video I’ve seen yet on how to cut layers seriously
You are saving our money, time, AND confidence with these tutorials. And yes, beautiful hair does make me feel more confident! So, your contribution here is both to the physical AND mental/emotional. I can't tell you the amount of times I've walked out of the salon feeling terrible due to the unsatisfactory haircut. And the feeling lasts for months until my hair grows out. Thank you for saving me from ever having to feel that again.
It’s messages like this that make me feel so happy to know sharing my passion can help others in such small yet significant ways!! Thank you for taking the time to let me know xo
I always come back to this vid, I’ve used it a few times now! Hairdressers kept disappointing me so I just learnt how to cut my own hair myself during lockdown! Thank you :)
This showed up in my feed today and I can't thank you enough! I have been cutting my own hair since Covid and had been really wanting to add some layers. This was explained and demonstrated so well. Very easy to follow. And yes it works just as well on shorter hair! I cut very little off, but now have a soft bang and angled layers around my face. Perfect!
I got new professional scissor, long enough hair, the BEST tutorial on RUclips so...I think I'm ready 🤩
I have to say thank you!!! Since learning how to trim my hair and do these layers, I haven’t been to the salon! No more haircuts that I hate and saves me money! I appreciate this video more than you know! Just did another trim tonight 😊
6:00
Just putting this time stamp up for myself lmao
Ty
Thank you…ugh!
Thank you. I’ve been cutting my own hair for years and always surprised to find an new way that works! I really like this style and technique.
THANK YOU SO MUCH. I’ve done this cut three separate times and I absolutely love it. I’ve been growing my hair out and haven’t gone to the hairdresser since Covid began. Everyone is always impressed when I tell them I cut my own hair!
Love this!!
Thank you! I had bad layers in the front and this fixed them. My haircut is so flattering now! I always wondered how people had layers that matched their face shape and were not choppy. I love these layers because they will grow out really well.
This video saved my hair from a truly disastrous haircut so bad my plan was to wear braids for a year until my hair grew out. Your detailed explanation and demonstration helped me cut the right layer length for my face shape. You are a goddess! Thank you!!
This is amazing! Thank you! Thank you!! Thank you!!! I am so tired of people, even other professionals, doing some crazy method that would never be used in the salon to make these type of videos and it leaving so much room for error.
Wow, so pleased with how this came out. Great job explaining the process. I was conservative since it’s my first time, but next time I will try to do the back as well. Had to make some minor adjustments once it was dry, and if my stylist ran into me on the street she’d probably SHH, but I’m really pleased! Now onto roots tomorrow! Thank you!!!
"watch this video multiple times so you know what you're doing"
me 10 minutes in: welp I should be fine lets do this
ME
Like air sign people
Exactly. Quit talking and cut!
I watched several videos on face framing cuts with layers. This is by far the best video I’ve seen. Amazing You are a great teacher.
messed up my curtain bangs last week and just did the exact same thing with this tutorial my hair turned out to be so good 😭 thank youu!!!
Fantastic!! Had the blues & needed a quick change. I finished the look with some pointcutting & now I feel like a new woman. Thank you, sweet lady. 🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆
I really needed a haircut, I did this one and it's so Good! The next time I will do the entire head as you do in another video, so it's more complete the haircut. I feel fresh. Thank you!
I did my all my hair and I love it! I've only tried cutting my hair at home once and it was awful but this method made it so easy and I love the shaping! Thank you!!!
I have been cutting my own hair for around 10 years now and have tried different cutting methods. I keep coming back to yours. It’s the best! Thank you
Thank you for the positive feedback!! So happy it’s been working for you!
This is by far the best video I have found on RUclips to cut face framing layers. Very detailed and you explain every step and why. Thank you so much for sharing!!!
This video was ah-mazing. Went from hating my hair to loving it again
I love this tutorial, it was super easy to understand and follow along with. I followed this tutorial and loved the way it looked afterward and I'm not that good at hair so it was awesome!
Oh my, I am so surprised. I don't even know how to cut hair, and this is the first haircut I have liked in a long time. It looks great. I even used conair scissors from Walmart. I have been trying to find a good hair stylist and they keep wrecking my hair, so I just appreciate you Melissa for this method because it is not too complicated and you don't have to cut by pulling your hair above your head. I can believe it even lays right if you let it dry without styling, but with styling, I got my Farah Faucett hair back. So awesome. thank you. I will add a pic in a bit.
This is hands down the BEST haircut at home video I have ever seen! Girl you are out here saving our out home covid hair disasters, thank you thank you thank you
This is the cut I’ve always wanted but never new the steps. Thank you so much for sharing and being thorough. 🥰
This is the best hair cutting video I’ve seen. I’ve got a side swept fringe that I’ve been growing out and I’ve just cut my hair like this to blend everything in while it grows out a bit more. After almost two years of hating my hair I feel like I finally love it again. Thanks so much!
This video is a lifesaver. I recently got haircut and something was off. I could not tell what , but my hair looked so flat and heavy. This video came to my rescue. Turned out better than I was hoping for.
I am 38 and madly in love with a man who really loves me au natural. That being said I have the longest and most natural colored hair I've had since I was 17yrs old, silvers and everything! I feel beautiful, however I really need a refresh so I am going to try a COVID DIY face frame using your tutorial video. Your video is the most informative I've been able to find, so thank you. I'll let you know how it goes...fingers crossed!!!
Thank you so much for this video. I was cutting my hair today and kinda messed it up. Once I applied your instructions I was able to fix my hair. Thank you :)
You and your hair are so beautiful! I’ve been cutting my hair since lockdown and haven’t been Over-directing…so now I know what to change. Thanks so much!
Thank you so much! I cut my hair after I watched your tutorial and the result is absolutely great!! ❤️ I’m very happy 😊 thanks and lots of love! X
Darniiiitttt... was going to use the scissors I use for everything 😆
Hello appreciate you for the video...I learned from your first video but I couldn’t get into RUclips to write a note. Because of your video I was able to grow out the front of my hair and have nice face framing layers....thank you again 😊
Ok! The BEST EVER! I have long very THICK WAVY hair. I tried a different tutorial and ended up with blocky chunks. I watched THIS, And I have a better fit than the hairdresser!!! My very first time! I kept going all the way around my head and my suggestion for thick hair girls is to straighten hair then cut. My curls kept distracting me, so I am going to try a dry cut but the wet cut worked fine. Thank you so much, I hated going to the hairdresser, they always look scared at my hair and one side is always longer. But NO MORE! I FINALLY HAVE A STYLE! 🙏🥰😁
Great video, I always cut my own hair, just have never had a salon cut I'm happy with. So I've been watching many videos on how to do the face framing layers, this one has been extremely helpful but I wish I could find one that shows how to do it with bangs, I have bangs and trying to find some guidance on how to do it or if there's a different technique or do I just go by the same premise of what you did on here. Again great video!
I got a bad hair cut and needed to fix the front and this video helped me make it perfect!!! Thank you so much!
One of the best diy layered haircut tutorial I have seen on RUclips so far.
My hair turned out great !
If anyone here is hesitant to cut their own hair, just follow the steps and you will love the end results.
You Rock Melissa! xo
Excellent video!!!! Looks great.
When you were saying to watch it a few times... I'm like, yeah. I'm good. Then around 16:45 , changed my tune to well, it wouldn't hurt to watch it one more time....and while cutting! Much appreciated!
Love your hair black. Looks amazing.
Thanks Melissa! I have waited for your video for decades! Great simple technique and beautiful result! Saves thousands on haircuts . Huggs!
Thank you for the detailed information. Looking forward to cutting my own hair.
Thank you so much for showing the difference between cutting in the center of your face vs across. Now I understand how to cut my layers/bangs.
Thank you! I tried to make long bangs and messed it up, so this helped me add layers to blend it in better. Thank you thank you!!
Thank you!!! i just followed along as i cut my hair and it looks so cute!
Thank You it looks amazing on my hair !!!!
Wow! Thank you. Great video! My hair is naturally curly but looks wavy right now because it's too long. I'm going to try what you did.
You are best. I watched both of your videos and they both were extremely knowledgeable. Thanks a lot . Keep up the good work!!!
I just finished this tutorial, my hair came out absolutely perfect! I was so nervous, but thank you so so much!!
that was soo well explained amazing!
You’ve given me the confidence to try this tomorrow- thank you so much!
I did this and did it 6 months ago…and I’m ready to do it again today!! It worked really well, so fingers crossed it works again 🤞🏼
Beautiful! I wish I could get my hair cut by you. Could you do a video of your favorite products?
You explained this so well! Thank you so much!
Best explanation video I’ve seen. Great job 👍
LOVE LOVE LOVE YOUR DEMONSTRATION OF YOUR LAYERS, PLAN TO REPLICATE YOUR FACE FRAMING TECHNIQUE!!!
Thank you! You just saved me 50$!
You MUST be a hairdresser! You are way to good at this!
I am yes lol 😊❤️ thank you xo
Does the hair have to be in a middle part when cutting it, even when you want to wear it in a side part afterwards?
Great tutorial, thank you so much ♥️
Love from Germany xx
This is very helpful, thank you! ❤️
OK. Ready to do it. I took notes. My part is on the side but that doesn't seem to make any difference. Good video. I have to work around my shorter bangs but I can manage and now I know how to hold my fingers. Up or down. And I'm starting with the middle part and just pretending the bangs aren't there. Thanks for doing this. At last instructions that are clear and can be followed step-by--step.
Question for you... In your older videos where your hair is much longer, were you doing this exact cut as well or were you doing more layers? I am assuming that you were at least doing a small trim to the length at that time? I would love to see a tutorial on that. The way you have your hair in your sexy and sultry hair tutorial video where you did the loose waves with a wand and pumped it with texture spray is my hair goals. My hair now is almost to my bra strap and mostly one length but I do have bangs. I am definitely going to use this video to add in some face framing layers, but I would love to know how to maintain my length as well to get to how your hair was in that video.
Thank you omg. I didn't even do it that well imo but it still looks perfect. Just the way I always wanted it.
Thank you ! I did that on my curly hair and it looks amazing !
Pic please
This has been the best hair cutting face frame video I’ve seen! 😁
I was looking EXACTLY for this. Thank you!
awesome thank you love iiit 👏👏👏 I’m cutting mine right now!
Beautiful!! Love it!!
Excellent explaining - do you recommend the same process for long layered hair, with bangs above the nose?
Looks fantastic I am gonna try it isa💗🙏🏼
Best video.. love you so much for giving this life saving hack🤗
You explained this so well! I've watched SO many videos & this is the best one for sure! I will be doing this tonight! Can't wait!
Wow! Such a good video! I gotta go in my bathroom! 💇♀️
Your hair is so pretty! Love the colour and cut. Can you do a video on how to pick a good hair colour for different skin tones? I've tried to do black hair before but it just didn't look good for some reason 🤷♀️
it could be because you have warm skin. it’s the same for me. some colours make you look healthier and make your skin pop.
I follow your directions. Thank you very much. I did it🌟
this tutorial is the truth and it works perfectly for my shoulder length hair! question: has anyone tried this with longer hair? I'm currently growing mine out, but want to keep the layers look 🥺
Don’t work on long hair
Going to attempt this tomorrow!! You gave me the confidence. I’ve been growing my hair out for a few months, it was an angled bob. Pretty similar to yours. Hoping it looks as good lol
lmk how it goes!! I want to attempt this lol!
Me too
Thanks for sharing this video Melissa. I just got a haircut from the salon and it was a terrible cut. I just used your video to recut the sides of my hair and it is so much better than the hairstylist did. The only problem is how to trim the back of my hair. Can you please do a video on the best way to cut the back of the hair by yourself? 🙏
Thank you!!! This is exactly what I was looking for! 🤗
This helped me a lot thank you.❤
I don’t know why I thought this would be easy bc I’d definitely mess this up 😭 guess I’m just gonna go to a salon LOL but you did an amazing job explaining!!
This is a great video, and I’ve watched a lot! Wish I found it sooner!
I’d love to make a video following this tutorial! Would you make any adjustments for people that already have short bangs? Also! Is it possible to only layer those front sections and lightly blend instead of bringing to the back? (Super thin/fine hair and I want to keep my hair one length in the back if possible!) Great tutorial, thanks for sharing!! ☺️
I am about to try this. I have bangs, so I hope that will not be a problem. I already have face framing layers, but I am definitely overdue for a trim
Did you end up trying this with your bangs?? I have bangs and I wanted to see if this still works!
In the beginning of the video where you say, " make sure that your hair is super-wet or super-dry", I just cut "Curtain Bangs" and damage from the length the other night and my hair was dry. All of My life I've had my hair cut while wet and when it dries it looks almost 2" inches shorter than what I was going for, like ALWAYS , so, cutting it dry gave me more control of that, because my hair is naturally curly
You're a great teacher, I might actually try this at home.
Fabulous! I’ll be following this to do mine today
It work excellent
Thank you, this was so helpful! You are so beautiful!
Just finished cutting my hair this way and it turned out great, thanks!
Do we need to layer the back as well? Because I wanted to keep my back one length :(
Jasmine I didn’t, I kept my length in the back 😊
@@BlueSunWhiteMoon Gee thanks!! I always wondered if frace framing layers looked ok with one length hair at the back.Do you have any pictures or video posted somewhere? Im about to do it and im paranoid asf 🤣
Thanks! Worked great! 👍
Love this video and your other one the first one I actually like your hair this length it's very pretty thanks I wish I could do this cut really kinda afraid but I might try it thanks God bless
What’s the name of her other video ?
Love sooo much this video ❤️Thanks
Worked so well lol thanks
You have the prettiest hair i’ve ever seen
This is so perfect thank u so much
You have the most beautiful hair I have ever seen 🤩🤩
Great video. Question.. what would you tell your stylist to do to get your hair style?
I saw another video where she elevated the hair at 90 degrees. Would you recommend that or just do what you’re doing? I feel uneasing elevating cause I know that causes more layers, just wanted your opinion, thanks for the video it’s very informative 😊
Yes! Thank you! What a great video. This is exactly how I like my hair cut, but moving from country to country has given me a painful experience in trying to find a hair stylist that will cut and color the way I want, instead of whatever they want to do with my hair... I just had a cut last month, clearly asked for exactly this cut, and yet I ended with a blunt cut from front to back and ZERO layers or texture. Off to the mirror I go! Lol.
Thanks for showing detailed information including how to find yr guide each time! One of the best! Subbed
