    Helmet, cuirass, bracers, and greaves...i know you have a shield, sword, and a bow/arrows. Seems you're fully kitted out. Only thing i can see you're missing is a sword belt and scabbard

    Looks great! You can also wet your leather before dying, it will help it go on more evenly. Or put on a coat of diluted dye, using the appropriate diluter. Alcohol based diluter for alcohol based dyes, and water for water based dyes then add another coat of undiluted dye while its still wet.

    Dude, your page is totally dope! The work you do is great, you're break downs are concise yet informative, the added clips or gifs are on point and I can totally tell you're around my age with the references lol, and you have a great sense of humor!
    What pulled me in is I'm in the beginnings of learning all this leather crafting too and I've also made my own bow...but lamely out of PVC pipe, but it works pretty effectively
    Keep up the awesomeness, if I think of anything down the line I'll be sure to comment! 👍

    Great video as always. Loved the idea for using graph paper for designs. And your method for the template was actually pretty genius.
    Another way you can get that edge border, is with a groover tool. They usually have an adjustable arm, so you can set a distance like the wing divider, but it actually cuts the groove as you're going.

    Lol! Without seeing it anywhere, having used the plasticwraptape-technique in the past I was thinking yesterday about 'Wouldnt foil do an even better job?' Glad to see it worked so well. Also, guess what my next project is? ...yeah... greaves. Hillarious coincidence :D Got to send you a pic once I get done, which admittedly will take awhile given this weekend gonna go to fixing car. Bleh.
    Keep up the good work!

    the other trick for making a symmetric design is fold the paper and work from one half the center of the design with a soft pencil and dark-heavy lines.....then after you are done with the design, fold the paper and rub the outside of the paper with your fingernail or something soft and slick like a piece of a urethane...make sure you can see the design through the paper to rub over all of it....then voila! open and find a perfectly symmetric design

    • @SkillTree
      @SkillTree  4 года назад

      Great tip! I will definately give that a shot. Will certainly be faster than trying to manipulate it with the computer. Thanks!

  • @HikuroMishiro

    Not sure if it's enough to warrant its own video, but it might be cool to add a 'clean up' segment the next time you work with dye and the like. Proper cleaning of brushes helps maintain their lifespan and there might be certain things like acrylic paint where the dirty water might best not be put down the drain.

      Great points to bring up! I have some leather vids that I worry will be short. That would be a perfect tip to add in! Thanks for the idea and for watching!

    Hey, awesome job!, I have been Leatherworking for 2 years now, Check out Dark Horse Workshop he has some good videos that you can learn some more from. A suggestion I would make is getting an Airbrush. I just discovered how freaking awesome it is for dyeing your leather. You can get that really professional looking fades on your leather, Like the dark brown edge to a lighter brown center. Another easy trick to help with your edge beveling, Bees Wax. It works really well and it's cheap.
    I can't wait for your next video!

    • @SkillTree
      @SkillTree  4 года назад

      Great tip! I am definitely going to invest in an airbrush. Do you have any recommendations? I LOVE darkhorse. His artwork inspires me 😁👍. Thanks for watching!

    • @zedzknight
      @zedzknight 4 года назад

      I personally own a few, you average eBay special is good for a starter, I like gravity-fed one (just a cup on the top you pour into). They normally are pretty cheap like sub 100$, aim for one that comes with a compressor, hose, really the whole kit (your paying for the compressor). As for Good Airbrushes, there are a couple good companies, Like Badger, Paasche, Harder & Steenbeck, the one that gets talked about the most is Iwata, I personally own 3 Iwata, 2 Neo-CN (gravity fed, one for SPX Makeup, one for leather) and an Eclipse HP-BCS (siphon or bottle). I really want to get an Iwata HP-CS which is a Gravity fed version of the previous model I mentioned.
      The big difference between a Neo and an Eclipse is the price and quality. The Neo is a Starter and has a really small easy to lose Fluid Nozzle(its threaded and maybe 1/8 of an inch or smaller), which makes clean up and maintenance harder as its hard to clean the paint chamber if you forget to clean out your airbrush. The Eclipse has a larger and much easier to clean fluid nozzle (pressure fit). Shop around and do your research, any airbrush is better than no airbrush.
