  • Thank you so much for over 200k views !!!
    First of all I want to apologize for video quality, at the time i didn't know what i was doing with camera and editing.
    In this video I'm showing how to install inline water filter for refrigerator that doesn't equipped with one. Some refrigerators comes with ice makers but don't have any kind of filtration and dirty, unfiltered water can get into your ice and ruin your drink. You can easily install inline water filter that will help to remove odor, bad taste bringing you clear look and better taste.
    Warning!!!
    I'm not responsible for any damage that can cost while and after water filter installation.
    Thank you for watching!

    Thanks for the idea of hiding it in the fridge itself. I will have very minimal clearance behind my fridge and this is a nice way to save those crucial couple of inches!

    Thanks! That was really easy to follow, and should be easier than I thought it would be to remove the "fishy" water taste from our ice cubes. We've been doing ice by trays for past year. This will be nice to skip that. :)

    My own filter for the fridge is way down the basement while the refrigerator is upstairs and this will be first replacement after buying the house.
    I just was surprised that I don't have an in-built filter compartment instead will change the filter far away from the fridge.
    What a task.. But thanks for the video anyway-that's helpful.
    Is ok to send u the pic of my filter to show u how it looks?

    brilliant video.
    question: How do you change this filter since the tubing cannot be reversed out?

    • @IvanRossS
      @IvanRossS  8 лет назад

      you just unscrew feelings out old filter, replaced it with a new filter or you can just remove the whole quick connector out of pipe and install new filter with a quick connectors on it.
      those quick connectors that I'm using and in general quick connectors like that, don't seat tight on the pipe, there easily twist so it will be easy to just unscrew the whole connector out of old filter.

      +Ivan Rossinskiy
      Thanks man.
      This was very helpful. I actually got the filters with quick connectors on it, so i guess i would have to leave enough room to cut and install new filter.

    • @IvanRossS
      @IvanRossS  8 лет назад +1

      +Venod Maharaj yes and make sure you cut hose that goes from the refrigerator valve up to ice maker!! not the one I'm cutting from water supply to refrigerator valve and this filters with a ready quick connector build in, you just pull out pipe from this quick connectors and stick pipe into new connectors with a new filter, you don't have to cut it every time.

    not all in line filters have the ability to just shove the hoses into the filter, these are VERY hard to find. Can some one provide a link to purchase this specific type of filter in the USA at a reasonable pice?

  • @JeaneGenie
    @JeaneGenie 7 лет назад +1

    That is a good tip by first flushing the carbon residue from the filter into a bucket before connecting the line to the refrigerator.

    Is this approach cheaper & better than an internal filter, Samsung in my case, which runs out every few months?
    How long will this filter last?

    • @IvanRossS
      @IvanRossS  7 лет назад

      James Chuaycham ป้อม ศักดิ์ชัย this refrigerator never had internal or external filter. there are tons of refrigerator on the market that does not have a filtration system but do have ice maker. if you already have internal integrated filtration system, just change your filter

    City water = clorine.. water is actually cloudy and tan so chlorine makes it look clear. Some places add flourine which many are worried about. Who knows what else is added? Ground water here in South Florida has a lot of Iron, and will stain your washer and shower / bathtub reddish brown. And who knows what seeped into the water table like fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides, and chemicles used for farming. And there are chemicles people just pour out back or someplace that seep into the groundwater. Even dirty oil after a driveway oil change someone will just pour out on the ground. You have to use a water filter. Refrigerators today have a fiter inside them that you can replace but are expensive. You can add another filter to the water inlet behind the refrigerator, giving you 2 filters. I would never drink straight tap water.

    • @IvanRossS
      @IvanRossS  7 лет назад +1

      James Hightower I never drink tap water too unless it's being boiled like in the soup or in a tea or coffee but even with that I've been using the bottle water or filter water. but This filter does work water will taste much much better and the water will be much cleaner. it's not going to kill bacteria or will remove iron, but the taste will be much much better.

      I put in a filter but pushing the fridge back in the copper tubing to the outlet to the fridge end leaked. I want the copper tubing out to try again. I redid the filter and tubing as not to jar it pushing the fridge back againts the wall, but I need to stop the leak where the copper tubing goes from the fridge to the filter. I took the plastic clip off, but do not want to yank the copper tubing out, and there are plastic parts that go over the tubing and do not want to damage that. What do you do if an end of a filter leaks after pushing in the tubing? I try it with the water on low at first becuase of the water on the floor, then try full pressure.

    • @IvanRossS
      @IvanRossS  7 лет назад

      First of all, you need to use different type of fittings for a copper tubing, the fittings I was using only for plastic tubing !!!!!!
      Thouse fittings are only one time use when you tight them you would have to cut the copper hose off to redo it.

      Chlorine does not affect turbidity. Chlorination is to disinfect.

    Does this method works on any brand of refrigerator with just an ice dispenser.

    • @IvanRossS
      @IvanRossS  5 лет назад

      Yes of course. They all build the same and you will find hose in the back. It's up to you where you want to mount that filter. Do not ontall this filter to the hose that coming from the wall make sure you intall this filter to the little tiny hose that goes between refrigerator valve and to ice dispenser

      if im not mistaken, its filter by Osmosis, u can buy over ebay or Amazon. for like $10. just changed it every year.

  • @monisamontoya1968

    How frequently must this filter be changed? With my GE the machine tells me when to change. My refrigerator is installed within the cabinets in such a way that it is no easy task to pull it out frequently so i am trying to see if this is an option that I should take.

    • @IvanRossS
      @IvanRossS  7 лет назад

      MONISA MONTOYA just change it every 6 months and you'll be just fine it's also depends on what water u on. if you're on city water it have a bleach So 6 months will be ok! now if you don't on well water and it have a lot of iron and other crap I would recommend it to change it every 3 months if you're using your ice a lot. but believe me taste of ice is so much better after I installed it filter !!

    If the filter connection leaks on one end, how do I remove the copper tube to try again?

    • @IvanRossS
      @IvanRossS  7 лет назад

      James Hightower why are you saying copper in the video I use only plastic, if you're using copper hose and the plastic fitting that's not going to work, that's not what you need. you have to buy special fittings then you screw, that was made for copper hose only

  • @barryrabin1461
    @barryrabin1461 9 лет назад

    When you change the filter, do you have to cut the water line again? If so, wouldn't you eventually run out of water line?

    • @IvanRossS
      @IvanRossS  9 лет назад +1

      No! U have two chooses, just unscrew quick connectors and reuse them with new filter, or when u pull quick connectors just be careful not to break them otherwise they were leak!but with that step u will need to cut hose just a little bit on booth ends.

    is your filter normally on the inside of the fridge?mine is inside and was wondering if I can do like this to save money

    • @IvanRossS
      @IvanRossS  8 лет назад

      no, this fridge didn't had filter at all !!!!. u just had to removed your original filter (see if it still pass water through with removed filter) and just like I did, install
      in-line filter for $10 :)

    • @dennisjohnson2726
      @dennisjohnson2726 8 лет назад

      Rebecca, do a search for a water filter bypass plug if it leaks after you remove the filter and then you can do it. But be very careful the in-line filter doesn't leak or else it will rot out your floor and cost way more than you will ever save. Another way to do it is to get a water filter pitcher for your drinking water, but your ice cubes may taste cllorine if you're sensitive to the taste.

    If the outlet side of the filter with copper tubing leaks, how do I get the tubing out to try again? I sanded and reamed the end of the copper tubing flush, but did not seem to snap in like the other side did, the inlet to the filter tube did fine.
