    RUclips is cruel sometimes and you end up getting less views than you deserved, but I would suggest you to make a lot of shorts(from the longer videos) and post them regularly. Shorts is one of the many ways to get noticed(I just got one of your videos there and subscribed). Love from India.

    I got smoked out last year from the creosote build up as well. Same issue with the spark arrestor. We had to take the stove out of the tent. Not the best thing to happen at the time, but it sometimes makes to the best memories. I was curious on the pine needles. I would have thought they might dry out and start on fire. Might be more of an issue on a multi-day trip.

    Hey Marty, great video and what a fun dad you are. After melting a few items in my own hot tent I found a solution. I bought a couple sections of wire garden fencing at the dollar store. It’s light and I fold it down and put it in the bottom of my sled for transport. The wire pokes down nicely into the snow to keep it secure. Doesn’t block any light or heat from the stove. I also hot tented last weekend with someone new to winter camping so I was the keeper of the fire through the night; I had a chuckle at that part of the video. Processing wood and keeping the stove going is a lot of work but I love it.

    • @martymorissette
      @martymorissette  Год назад +1

      Hey! Thanks for stopping by! Not a bad idea with the fence... I will look into it! :) And yeah it is nice to keep the fire going all night even though it comes at the cost of not sleeping much... hahaha

    The tough part of winter camping with a stove in the tent is the constant waking up and adding wood to it. Sleep less for warmth.

    You probably have alot more time behind the handle of an axe than me, but I like to kneel when using shorter axes, especially if I need to hike out. Evidently alot of injuries at parks are due to hatchets hitting lower extremities from a standing position.

    • @martymorissette
      @martymorissette  Год назад +1

      Smaller hatchets are more dangerous I like 20-24 inch shafts because they are way safer to wheeled

    Hello I'm a new subscriber from minnesota. I just wanted to say a huge congratulations that ur kids r out in the wilderness and not homebound just in front of screens on tablets. This is the biggest issue I feel for the next generations. What will going outside be like now that technology has killed the wild and forts and bike jumps and snowmen etc etc. I'm 44 and oh do I remember the old days!!! Rotary phones and wooden forts sleeping outside going to boyscout camp and traversing the wilderness. Or just bike riding with friends....what is to come next!!?? Good for u guys!! Even just a little matters.

I'm sooo glad to know I'm not the only one who in the middle of something in the winter...stops and sighs, moans, and takes a deep breath before going back to the task. Ha ha. Used to think, if I have enough energy to sound exasperated, then maybe I really aren't exhausted. Nope. Now I know, it's a coping mechanism. Ha ha
