But without the tape deck transformation it’s not as displayable, even the g1 soundwave looks better in robot mode. The only problem is how expensive the g1 figure is or else it’d be 100% better in every way

I'm planning on getting two of these personally, I wanna give soundwave his classic battery gun, and the second gun will make his "tank mode" more like brawl from the FOC games which is a big plus
Then with the spare second figure you can keep it as a permanent glider for a Green Goblin figure lol.
They came out in some stream where they showed concept art for the BBMV alt modes, and this is meant to be a hover car. Except it looks barely anything like the art. The issue to me was that they wanted to make their big, square, G1 Soundwave into a smooth and sleek and smooth car without thinking about how it would really work. Side note I picked Ravage up yesterday from Walmart despite having zero interest in Soundwave and he's fun.
Yeah, either the toy designers should have worked more on getting the Soundwave figure to transform into something far more close to the concept art, or they should have changed the concept art of his alt mode into something more akin to his WFC/FOC alt mode.
@@jaydonmagan4694 I don't think making it look like the concept art would've been possible. Besides I'm pretty sure the design team made the alt modes in general, they could've just made the alt mode something that makes more sense for the design or would work better for the toy.
@@TheFourteenthPrime The way I could have seen that alt mode design working is if the toy designs actually got the arms to come forward and form that front of the alt mode like it showed in the concept art. From there, they could work on bringing the legs back to form the back and sides of the alt mode. It wouldn’t have been perfect with the concept art, but it probably would have been better than what we got with the toy alt mode.

@@TheFourteenthPrime One of my biggest complaints of the alt mode is why they didn’t have the shoulder cannon on top of it behind the cockpit instead of just on the side. It would have looked much better like that.
Making Soundwave a glider instead of another Megatron-esc hover tank would have actually been pretty cool. We have tons of earth mode/future tanks and future/space jets so making Soundwave a platform for other Deceptions to fly around on would be pretty funny.
Thing is, I keep seeing/listening to people crap on this alternate mode for being a "slab of nothing"... I honestly don't think they're looking at it hard enough. If you look through the clear plastic of the 'fake chest' at the top, you'll see that there are seats and control panels on the inside. That's because it's not meant to be a fake chest, it's a dang cockpit. This isn't just a slab of metal or a hover tank missing parts, it's a stylized dropship, especially with how the chest-door is oriented downward so that it could just drop his partners like Ravage into a battle.

The cockpit feels slapped onto a brick to justify it being a vehicle, the entire rest of his "altmode" just looks like a folded up robot
I understand where you're coming from, but I have to disagree. The same could easily be said of most of the jet modes we'd gotten up until recently, simply folded up robot under jet. (Looking at you, SS Blitzwing. I know that one could've been done so much better...)
While people may not exactly like that the designers didn't try to make him a beefy van or tank, I honestly prefer the dropship motif. Leagues better than just disguising as a lamp post any day, and it makes use of the ability for him to launch out his partners in crime.
Exactly! He's a dropship my dudes, and I think that's an amazing fit for a Soundwave alt mode. I've tried telling countless people that this design didn't just come out of nowhere and there is a real basis for it.

I just picked up this figure, and although the vehicle mode is, like Emgo said, a flying slab, I still think it's one of the best bumblebee movie figures. Just a fantastic robot mode. Wish his hands moved, though.
The shoulders are hot rod shoulders, SS86 hot rod is VERY significant
Found him at Walmart yesterday! I was so shocked when I saw multiple on the shelf. I was able to pick the best paint job from what I could see of the robot mode. I did have him preordered on Amazon but wasn’t gonna ship til April

The concept art made it look like a speeder of sorts and looked more sleeker than the toy. I guess the design didn't translate well to plastic.
Did you seriously call arcee bad? Studio series bee movie arcee is easily one of the best official arcee figures. She’s got a smooth and satisfying transformation and has some of the best backpack management on any arcee figure.
Cool intro with the piano playing the Green Goblin theme song. Yes, I heard of the meme of the BB Soundwave alt mode being the Green Goblin's glider. But the chicken cutlet and Luke Skywalkers binocular memes is new to me. I never really mind this Soundwave hovercraft design. Sure I wish it was more like the concept, were it looked like a hovercar, but it's a alien world. But the fan mode of making Soundwave into a hovertank, definitely looks better. Like how the weapons look more here, than on the sides in hovercraft mode.
The alt mode since it's cybertronian,why not just call it a patrol hovercraft like the seige/kingdom version? I got confused when I got my seige/kingdom Soundwave and saw that unlike most cybertronian vehicle moves it was the weirdest to me but it's cool because it'll still turn into the light post,walkman,and a cybertronian pistol like shockwave at one point and g1 Megatron

Regarding the Hot Toys Green Goblin, consider looking into the Toys Era 1/6th scale Green Goblin, it's a 3rd party release but is of Hot Toys quality. Maybe watch Justin's Collection's review on him and the Thunder Toys Tobey Spider-Man.
And I would LOVE to see someone repaint Soundwave into GG's glider!
Also, I'm in the UK, and Ratchet is actually available now, as is SS86 Perceptor! So weird!

You say Ravage doesn't officially come out until April, but down here in Florida, my local Walmart has about 20 of them along with another 20 Shockwaves.

I live in Florida and I can never find cool/larger transformers at the store s mainly because alot more more want transformers more than other places in the u.s so whenever I go to Georgia to hangout with grandparents I go to the store and there I find so many more options than I would at Florida.
The point is yeah it can be called a tank if that added the peg hole at the top of the alt mode but I do consider it to be more of a hover craft. Now if they would've made the should cannon split in two then it could be placed on the undercarriage of the alt mode and be used as a live action cybertronian walkman using the cannon as batteries like the G1 figure

i dont think they really had a choice about the gun he comes with because in the first cybertron scene when he jumps down and says "decepticons attack" and stuff he has the same gun in his hand
ignoring Core Class Bumblebee Shockwave as he will get a Deluxe Class figure later considering the Studio Series line is meant to evoke the scale of the characters from the screen whether the scale is off or not it is implied that Bumblebee Soundwave is larger than the Bayverse Soundwave in size.
The BB movie figures are slightly upscaled though if that makes sense. For example, I’m pretty sure the official height of Bayverse Optimus is about 30 feet while Knightverse is about 20

WFC (VIDEOGAME) and animated to me did cybertronian alt mode the best. I don't think people would complain if Soundwave looks like WFC (videogame) alt mode.
I have it and I love it, and my only concern is the shoulder articulation but it's actually useful, just weird at first
I did a very simple mod to the shoulder gun peg to make it attach as a turret gun on the top. Looks better cause it's in the middle.

Oh! Ravage doesn't come out until April in Canada. I just got Ravage and Core class Shockwave from my local Walmart three days ago. I was surprised to find them to be honest. My area doesn't usually get most transformers (other than bumblebee and Optimus) until about three months after they get released everywhere else.

i think hes supposed to be a hover tank like megatron and brawl in war for cybertron (soundwave can turn into a cybertronian van and boombox in the game)
Not gonna buy a tf figure for only the robot mode. I'll just gonna buy the Trumpeter Model kit one (licensed by Hasbro). For the same price, you get a more detailed figure, more accessories like hands, better paint, no kibble ( this one doesn't even has but others had like Bumblebee ), no gaps and a stand.

Haven't gotten this guy just yet but I'm really excited to get this guy. I have Wheeljack now and he's a really solid deluxe apart from the horrendous hip balljoints
I don't even hate he doesn't have a proper alt mode, yeah sure maybe they could've given him something, but the Robot mode looks amazing I think it makes up for the alt mode loss, and you can make a really messed up version of that street light mode from the first episode of G1

Plastic isn't truly recyclable. New plastic has to be added to recycled plastic and it can only be recycled in a limited capacity. While it's definitely not bad to recylcle plastic, it's strictly better to use less in the first place.

Honestly the altmode kinda reminds me of G1/origins bumblebee's hover car mode. I think it's fine.
I got him because I had ravage and I don't regret it
I wouldn't mind the vehicle mode as much if they did something to try and cover up those fucking leg joints. The knees plates could have looked sort of like pincers on the vehicle mode, kind of like Vanu vehicles in Planetside 2, but just seeing the joints of the legs and everything else just hanging out at the front ruins it looking like any kind of vehicle.
You know... when a missing port would save the alt mode... and ports are holes, meaning its reducing the cost of production. Someone really screwed the pooch.
Ports actually cost more in the design phase cause it's an extra step added to the tooling and an extra component needed to mill out that port in the tooling process

i also have that and i sorta put him in a radio/boom box mode sorta by folding up his legs to sides with his feet facing up and folding his hands into his arms and rotating his head backwards and then takimg his arms and putting up where his head that's covering the back of his head and i used his guns facing downward in the bck to help stand him up but i rotated them in way to help stand him up because pointing straight down makes him fall over and also how soon will we get a actual studio series soundwave that turns into a actual radio/boom box?
