Lisa Sloane your welcome and we perform ECG’s and send the results to the health care provider
It's going to depend on your facility. Where I work (major hospital) technicians do not perform EKGs or even draw blood. Lab Assistants or phlebotomists draw blood, and nurses/nurse techs perform EKGs. We don't even learn how to do that in school here (GA)
Marhia Abbuhl exactly I’m a nurse tech we do ekgs. The nurses don’t even know how to do them. And phlebotomists draw blood not lab technicians. Truly depends on where you work or the location. I live in Maryland btw.

Electrodes are placed on your chest to record your heart's electrical signals, which cause your heart to beat. The signals are shown as waves on an attached computer monitor
Idk if you had to take all these chemistry courses in school when you went... but if you did, then how helpful is it in the field?

You have to take a 2 year associates degree program in a Medical Laboratory Tech program! 😁

@@landellcomputer1672 mine is in applied sciences and I was a vet tech before switching to lab tech. There are lots of routes to becoming a lab tech!

I really want to be an MLT, but I don't think I could draw blood. The thought of it makes me queasy lol.
Hospital I work the phlebotomists do that not lab techs. I think it depends where you work but you’re taught how to do it in class.
I’m a MLT who still draws blood from time to time. You’ll get over that feeling I promise.
Why placing the tourniquet for so long? This might cause hemoconcentration leading to false positive results....

For the people who has their bachelors like in biology biochemistry and more, you would be a technologist/scientist not a technician because technicians are people with associate degrees

No. The bachelor’s degree in MLS (Medical Laboratory Scientist) does.

Hello, just finished my school as medlabtech and wr on same school. Still waiting for placement and bcoz of this covid kinda difficult to find a place. Please help..wondering if you know somebody to contact to do placement. The college says if we found some clinic to do our placement as still on hold for dynacare. We don’t know when is gonna be available.

You would have to go school for the 1 year but may be able to transfer credits over. Depends on the school.
Girl you could be more than a technician cause you have your bachelors so you would be a technologist/scientist you probably already know that though
