I am also in my 30s and I am going back to school to become a Lab Tech 2 year degree program here in the US. I’ve also been searching for Medical lab tech videos not many... thanks for the video and good luck on your journey.
Thank you for uploading this video. We have a lot in common. I also worked with young children and I quit because of the pay and quite frankly I wasn't happy. Now I'm doing some research about becoming a lab technician. It's time for me to get my sh*t together and make something out of myself
Yass girl!! I'm applying to become a medical technician/technologist not sure which one yet! But I'm happy I have a fellow canadian tech to follow and watch 😊
Hello!!! I'm in my 2nd year of Mlt school it an associate program. I'm so happy to watch your videos and you are right there is not much info about this field on RUclips so thankyou for bringing awareness to our field. GOODLUCK with your studies...
Hi! And thank you for this info. I’m 31 with no degree. But I’ve been working as a CNA for 10+ years and I have no desire to pursue nursing so I was thinking of doing MLT.
That was the same struggle I was having at the beginning. Deciding between this field and nursing. Nursing can be extremely exhausting at times so I’m glad I took this route. I would say go for it. It’s very rewarding at the end. Btw from what I’ve been hearing the job market in the next couple of years looks pretty good because of the baby boomers
I need some advice on how I can afford and get the time to go back to school, I hope this question isn't too personal. Did you simply save up enough to take the year off work and go to school? Or do you work and study at the same time?
Fortunately I was able to save up enough to take a year off work. Everyone’s situation is different but you can always work part time and do school full time. Good luck!
What are the qualifications needed to get into the course? Would I need to have specific science subjects from high school or SATs? I have no science subjects, I am switching from a completely different career. I am a graphic designer.
Same here I’m 29 and a RN and I don’t like it for four years I’m a introvert and would rather do MLT I’m going to see the qualifications for the program here
Hello. I'm from Ukraine. Thanks for the video☺️. I have one question Where can I find documents about this profession? Cuz I don't know where I can find it(
Hey Raeda I was wondering since I'm in a biochemistry major would I be able to work in that field after I graduate... it would difficult to switch now since I'm in my third year. Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks
Salma Chamma If you live in Canada I believe you can challenge the csmls certification exam after completing your degree program. This will allow you to become a medical laboratory technologist. check out csmls.org for more information.
In the USA you can work in a lab as a specimen processing specialist for four years and then you qualify for taking the Medical lab scientist license exam.

Hello Ms I am medical Laboratory Technician having 12+years experience is that any chance to get job in Canada right now am working in Oman. Outside people can apply licence in Canada without entry directly form present country can u send me the details
The job market for the field is pretty good. If you work as a lab technician in Oman your experience would greatly help you here. However, you would still need to go to school for the 1 year to get your diploma.
Ms, Thank you so much for your reply, But if I have completed my Bsc (BMLT) in india but still I need to do study for 1 year in school for diploma? How much IELTS score required to get admission? and How much the cost approximately for 1 year in school? can u please suggest me the reasonable school in Canada for Lab Technician. Thank you so much again really appreciated..💐🙏💐
Amit my favourite Dalvi yes to work as a technician you would still need to complete the 1 year diploma. Centineal college, Anderson college, and Medix college are some of the schools here in Ontario.
Is that possible to do PLA (Prior learning Assistment through CMLS) and in case after approval From CMLS we can counduct exam directly to get licence as Medical Laboratory Technician in Canada is that possible for out sider like me please give some advice Thank you🔬💉🔬
