  • President Ronald Reagan speaks to the American people to announce that the U.S. military has launched air strikes against the African country of Libya. A very eloquent speaker whether giving a speech or holding a press conference. Whether you agree with his policies or not, Reagan presented himself better than preceding and succeeding presidents.

He didn't say that the "bombings" were badass.
He was referring to the total badass who made it happen.
Anything with detonated explosives is going to be violent.
No different than the two planes that hit the World Trade Center.
That violence killed many more innocent Americans than innocent terrorists.

5:00 so long as I'm in this office. Mastery. Total confidence and sterness. No wish wash politically correct nonsense. This made me feel a little patriotic today as I haven't had that feeling in some time. That feeling has been eroded over the years bumpy elbows with the "guests"we have today in this country with no sort of history or patriotism. Regan, like myself and my grandfather(a world 2 b-17 pilot 37 missions over Berlin) were born on February 6. I feel kind of blessed as to share the birthday of two heros in my life. RIP Nancy. A true patriot as well who helped Ronald in times like this.

Um...no. His policies secured north Africa with the response to Qaddafi (who largely behaved after the attack on his compount) and support for Mubarak (a secular Middle East strongman who kept the peace). Mubarak enforced the Camp David accords, which secured the Nile River delta region.
Reagan's continued support of the mujahideen in Afghanistan (from the Carter administration) subverted the Soviet Union there and drove back their sphere of influence. You would correctly argue that this empowered the mujahideen (today Al Qaeda), but that was a mess that HW Bush and Clinton should've addressed.
Care to guess what happened with Obama's policy in both countries.

I remember this day. I remember when the news alert came on television with a Statement from President Reagan in the Oval Office. What a statement! I am not a Historian, do not claim to be. I do know that Ronald Reagan was the first President I ever voted for, and to this date, the greatest President I have personally voted for, IMO.
This news alert was strong ... that cannot be denied. One thing is clear, after Vietnam, Watergate, Jimmy Carter, the hostages in Iran ... Ronald Reagan made us proud to be American again. We were a Yankee Doodle, Flag waving Nation again, proud to be born on the 4th of July. Will Ronald Reagan go down in the History books and with Scholars as the greatest American President of the Twentieth Century? I don't know. But in my book, absolutely. And so far, I am none too impressed with the Twenty-first Century and its Presidents; who seem to thrive on the divisiveness we now have. Briefly, after 9/11 We, as United States Citizens, came together as One ... briefly. However, the divisiveness gets worse with each passing day. We need another Ronald Reagan to unite the United States and Her Citizens again. Make us one again. And Proud to be American. I miss you, 'Ronnie'.

Another example of a perfect speech and delivery for President Reagan. He explains clearly and rationally but without asking for forgiveness. He does not mince words; he is direct and to the point without being bombastic and arrogant. You can tell he means business, and you can tell his convictions are complete and irrefutable. Again, all without the "look how tough I am" show many politicians like to put on (ahem, Trump). This guy was such a great leader.

Actually they missed the target, one of the U.S planes was shot down and Gadaffi survived. But he's not going to tell you that.

It doesn't matter if they missed their targets, what matters is that Libya was bombed and Qaddafi got a real warn

That was mins after the strike, how could he know that quick! With all do respect I think ur talking out of ur bottom end!
What about Qaddafi's daughter? I would venture to say she wishes her father never ordered the disco bombing? Smart bomb took her leg off!

Money and weapons alone do not make a country a superpower. It's also the will to respond with force when challenged. The military is not a showpiece. When challenged, use it.

So did I Boyd! I loved the '80's and it still looks so natural to see President Reagan speaking from the Oval Office or from a podium with the presidential seal. Mr. Reagan loved America more than himself and that is a trait we have not seen since he and George Bush #1 served.

God bless you Reagan even tho I was a little kid when you were in office you were the best president we ever had and I'm hoping Trump will be a 2nd Reagan we need more republicans in office but no matter how good the next presidents are we will never have another Reagan he was truly an American legend R.I.P. Reagan

You better go back and get your facts straight before you comment. Yes, some civilians were killed, unfortunately. But what you failed to say is that military targets were also bombed. As for your comment about Americans, I hope you aren't living in this country, if you are, then by all means LEAVE!!!!
