- A much easier way to replace the knock sensor on a base model Chevy Cruze.
I only removed the air box and the throttle body. I didn't have to disconnect any other lines or hoses. Disconnect your battery of course!
Remove all 7 bolts (2 on each side, 3 across the top) from the intake manifold. Use something to hold the intake manifold up and away from the knock sensor to give you clearance. Don't force it, it's plastic. Firm but gentle gets it done.
Just watched a 40 min video on replacing the knock sensor, waaaayy more work than what's needed, I thought lmao so thanks for this
Got to it from the bottom. Disconnect O2 sensor n remove a small bracket for room n it’s right there. A little tight but got done
Which side would be best to access it?
Fixxing to do the damn thing. Top or Bottom . I'm on the fence. ? ? ?
U were very helpful i just removed the air box and filter and used a 1/4 drive with 10mm and wiggled my arm in there 10 seconds now to put in in
Used 1/4 drive 10mm. 30 seconds got to wiggle arm in there thanks you helped alot
Thx bud now my turn only got 36,000 mi and it's bad shout out to the ATL just move back to Texas from there after 25 years Stone mountain ✌️
I'm from Texas and I live in Stone Mountain now. 🤠
@@DeWente69 wow what a small world.....i sure miss the state and area but like I say it's a small world so it ain't nothing but a hope skip and jump
I’m in atlanta , please help me do this 😭😭😭
I have the 1.4 and went from the bottom didn’t remove anything
Just so happens my part arrived yesterday do it today just replace the mass airflow about 3 weeks ago the cars only got 38000
How in the world did you undo the plastic clip in the middle of the line once the sensor and electric clip are undone? It's super hard to reach
Try from the top or the bottom. I'm sure I had the car jacked up.
It took me 5 minutes and I took nothing, Abolutely Nothing, off the engine. All you do is approach the car over the passenger side fender, reach down behind engine between the engine and firewall and over the top of the alternator, and you will be able to feel for the knock sensor. It has a single bolt through a rounded sensor. You can take a 3/8” short wrench and just loosen the bolt a little, then you will be able to remove the bolt and sensor together with the wired plug still attached. Bring it out from under the intake and into sight and remove the connector by squeezing the tab and disconnecting. Then take the new sensor, plug it in while it visible, put the bolt through the sensor and screw it back into place and tighten finger tight. Finish with just snugging it with the wrench. And your done. Easier than changing a spark plug and absolutely nothing taken off the engine. I honestly do not understand these videos that take someone Dow a rabbit hole they do not need to venture into.
Same. I did exactly what you did. It's an easy fix.
What year is your chevy cruze. My cruze is 2013 1.8l. Will this procedure work with my cruze
@@celialopez759 What year is your chevy cruze. My cruze is 2013 1.8l. Will the procedure work for me. Thanks
@@antonioficca3639 I have a 2014 1.4L LT Chevy Cruze Yes, it will work for you.
My son and I just did this on his 2013 Cruze 1.4L engine. Having two people helped so he could guide me to get the socket on it and also during re-installation getting the bolt back in the hole. You have to get your arm in and around the alternator (all the way to your elbow) but it was manageable. We had enough room to get an E12 socket with 3/8 ratchet. Less than 20 mins start to finish, not including scrubbing my arms clean all the way to the elbows lol.
What was the problem it was giving u? A mechanic told me to replace it because It has potencian problems
My engine was cooked, so I got a new engine. But I replaced all the parts my scantool said were bad. I didn't know the engine was shot.
Did you remove any fuel lines at all?
Sorry. Never got any notifications for this video. No. Didn't remove any fuel lines.
Man plz i need help
I have the same engine
It works ok but whn i drive it suddenly shut down turns off!!! Wt should i do
How long does it drive before it turns off? It may be your variable valve timing cylinders. I had to replace mine.
Sir i need your help to see the drain flug and refill flug chevy cruze 2011 model manual transmission.i dont see it. Tnx for your aswer.
I don't know how the manual transmissions look under the hood. The coolant drain plugs may be built in the same way, at the front on the passenger side of the radiator. The drain at the bottom, the fill whole in the middle.

How do you get the plastic piece out for the knock sensor?
You go under the car to unplug it. It's a rectangle plug a little smaller than your finger. It may have another piece in the middle of the chord that is a hold in place snap thingy.
@@DeWente69 thanks for responding.
Is this a 1.4 or 1.8?
1.4 I'm sure. Basic Chevy Cruze LS,
How much would u charge to do it for me bro???
What happened and why do you think the knock sensor needs to be changed?
@@DeWente69 My engine light turned on for this. I wanted to do it but my wife insisted on going to a Pep Boys. Paying $177 for it. This looks really easy smh
Faster to jackup car and change underneath the car.
Not everyone has a jack they can do that with.
