Dealership couldn’t diagnose it... Mechanic shop told me it was internal... needed a new engine/drive it til it died. $6K I spent 20 bucks on a ratchet extension and 5/8 plug socket. Tightened em up. Sound left completely and driving like a champ. 😂 Thank you for this video -2014 Chevy Sonic RS Turbo-
I'm having the same issue on the exact same car. Except mine only starts squeaking when the coolant temp reaches over 160 degrees. Doesn't squeak on startup, and doesn't squeal at all until it goes about that temp. And its not horribly loud, but its obvious. I CANT FIND THE SOURCE. And honestly I'm fucking sick of it. Do you think it would be the water pump?
You just solved the issue for my friends 2011 Chevy Cruz. She had the loud sound. Replaced the water pump and alternator lately, sound was still there. we came across this video. while going to check the spark plugs this morning They found out the coil pack was loose now the sound is completely gone! what a blessing! The mechanic that replaced the water pump had her thinking that her motor was failing!!!! You just saved this little family so much money
Wholyyy crap. I’ve been through multiple mechanics, and two valve cover replacements myself. This annoying chirp never would go away. It was the spark plugs indeed. Not “loose” but they really need to be snug. Lifesaver. Thank you for posting this!
When this problem came up on my wife's car, this video wasn't up yet. I was a set to just start replacing stuff until it went away because I couldn't diagnose it. Did one last search before I dropped the cash and holyyyy crap man you saved me a bunch of money and a Sunday afternoon. 5 minute repair once I had the tools out, and 5 bucks for a socket. THANK YOU.
Just used this video to fix the same chirp... Has been annoying me for weeks! Looks like the spring in the electric block I removed where twisted up and not straight aligned on the pin heads... As soon as I loosened it the noise stopped... Straightened all the spring and tighten right back up... No chirp!!! Thank you so much!!!
had that noise on my sons car, checked and found number 2 plug loose could turn by hand, hardest part was to find an extension to tighten up, thanks saved me a fortune at a garage
Had this noise a year ago. Replaced the camshaft cover and that took care of it. Now the same noise came back. Had a doubtful feeling that a loose plug would be the problem. One plug that wasn't torqued enough took care of the noise. Thank you for the video
Got this squeak after fixing the PCV issue with a home made "Cruzekits" solution. Replaced the terrible leaking Dorman Camshaft Cover and the squeak continued. Chevy didn't care to diagnose. They just said its a PCV issue... Turns out it was just loose sparkplugs!! Thank you so much for the solution. So glad I didn't have to replace the Crank seal!
This video is a life saver. My car was seating for nearly 8 months couldn’t figure out this problem. In my case I replaced belt tension, serpentine , water pump and a bunch of other shit. I just tie down my spot plug and that chunky chuncky chunchy sound went away. Thank you for making this video.
I heard a chirping noise coming from my 2015 Chevy Cruze and was told it was the water pump needing to be replaced, a friend told me about this particular video and I checked my plugs after watching your video and come to find out two spark plugs were loose. After tightening down the plugs my chirping noise disappeared. Thank you for the help!
I had the same problem with my Cruze, had 2 mechanics tell me it was something with the engine and I was better off getting rid of it because it was going to be so expensive to fix. My husband watched this video & gave it a try & the noise is gone! Thank u so much for sharing this!
I am so glad I found this video. I replaced the intake manifold the valve cover and the PCV line. And it just kept getting worse the squeaky noise. I did what you did and checked the spark plugs, and yes one spark plug was loose. I tightened it up and the car is back to running normal. Thanks again. The valve cover and intake needed to re-be replaced anyways as they have their own internal issues
You are a life saver!!! This was my exact problem, and I am so thankful that I ran across your video!!! Mine sorta sounded like a chirp, but when listening closer, it was a loud tick, or popping sound in the valve cover area. Sure enough, my plugs were not as tight as they should have been. I torqued them all, and the one far on the passenger side was the loosest. I did not have high expectations that I did anything to help the situation, but i was very pleased when the sound went away after torquing the plugs. Great video, thank-you!! I last changed my plugs at 113,000 miles with Iridium, and I'm at 189,000 now, probably due for another change soon. No anti-seize, since plugs now have metal plating. 2013 1.4L Turbo Darren
I'm at 186000 on my 2011 and I'm still on original plugs. I can't believe these things still are pluggin along(Pun intended). I'm afraid to change them for fear I'll strip those just like the valve cover bolts! Ugh.
This was happening to my 2016 Cruze Limited. It was only chirping from 1500 to 2000 RPM in 4th and 5th. Seems to have fixed the noise so far. Thanks for your video.
Dude…. This was exactly the issue on my kids 14 Cruze. I’ve been noodling on the issue for months but hesitant to do anything. Thanks so much. 10 minute fix.. Unreal!
Been fighting this issue for about 3 months now. Just replaced my tensioner pulley. Was about to replace the alternator pulley. My coil packs were replaced about 3 months ago because 2 went out. I never did replace the spark plugs, I looked at them today and they could be replaced. Going to the parts store in the morning to grab 4 new ones. They weren’t loose, they were actually super tight. Will update tomorrow. Praying this will fix my issue and headache.
Curious if you fixed the issue I cannot diagnose my issue I so far replaced ac compressor and water pump my car is a manual 1.8 but as soon as it’s out of gear the car makes this goofy noise
2012 chevy cruze eco 1.4L turbo. Just started making terrible noise. Noise was coming from top of engine. I removed plastic cover and pushed on coil pack and sound quieted. Three plugs were loose; 2 center just barely, left very loose, almost a full turn. Tighened and my 300,000 mile cruze is quiet again. Thanks for your video.
I finally found some business to take to a local mechanic that saved me last summer when my car traction went out on me. Anyway, the dealership has convinced me I have a nearly blown head gasket. And it’s a 2014 Eco. Thank you. I’m going tomorrow because I was just thinking I needed to replace the head gasket and wish for the best that it wasn’t worse.if I say anymore, I’m gonna start crying.
Just had the same noise on my daughter's Cruze,102,000 miles. 2 plugs on left side of motor were loose. Didn't even need a rachet to take them out. Removed all spark plugs, checked threads on plugs, all good . Reinstalled plugs, started car, and noise is gone.
I got the same chirping issue on my 2013 chevy cruze after I installed the new engine cover. I found two spark plugs were loose. I tightened them up and the noise was gone. Thanks for posting the video.
RIght on the money. Previously did the same diagnosing and came to no conclusion. Found this descrition and low and behold, it was a loose spark plug. Did not spend any dollars diagnosing (just time) for about a month. tHANK YOU!!!!!!!
I have this same noise with my car. I told everyone it sounds like a bird in my car. Im going to get the spark plugs checked tomorrow. Thank you sooooo much
My guy! Thank you. Honestly this solved my issues!! I have a 2015 Chevy Cruz I replaced all the PCV system (intake manifold, and crank case breather hose) they both contain a check valve for the pcv system. Did water pump, new serpentine belt, and I still had the ever annoying squeak. After watching this video I checked my spark plugs they were jetted bad and were hand tight loose?? I put new ac Delco plugs in with anti cease grease, tightened them to spec and fired it up! Boom! Noise was gone. Thanks for the video.
I had problems with that too. I thought it was the lifters. I kept hearing a chirping sound which sounds like a ticking noise. There was a loss of power and fuel efficiency, sometimes it would get louder. until one day, when the engine was running I decided to loosen the screws to the coil pack just a bit. When I rock the coil pack side-to-side the sound would get louder or softer. I was able to adjust the coil pack just enough that the sound went away.
I was skeptical but thought hey couldn’t hurt to try… i can’t believe this worked… chirping sound at idle and when accelerating there was a clicking that stopped when stopped accelerating. This clicking sounded like a bad speedometer cable in an older car.. read things about idler pulley, valve, possibly turbo going out…. Number 2 spark plug was discolored and the boot on the coil pack was discolored and had oil on it.. replaced plugs. Made sure they were all tight.. and car runs quiet.. drove it around… still quiet… thank you so much
ank you for this video!!!!!!! My 2014 Chevy Cruze 1.4L Turbo had a chirping sound coming from the head above 2nd cyl from left to right. I tried multiple times to identify the issue but over past 6-8 months it went from chirping to a very LOUD Screeching sound. 2 days ago a stranger said it sounded like a hammer 🔨; so I had it looked at by another mechanic and was told my cam shaft was about to go. Realizing the enormity of this I went on a hunt again for any solutions. Neither Chevy forums nor web searches or other videos were regarding my issue until your video. I immediately bought 4 new plugs and sure enough the spark plug was very loose and I spun it out by hand. The spark plug well was a burned oil brown and carbon black. All other plugs were tight as could be but I added anti seize to all 4 new plugs, installed them and 1st time in 5,000 miles it now purrs like a kitten. Super job sir! Again, thank you so much for sharing your knowledge/tutelage. Perfect Diagnosis!
I had this issue on my 2012 Chevy Cruze and the spark plugs were very loose causing the chirping. I didn’t believe it was the cause of the chirping but I tightened the spark plugs to spec and the chirping is gone. Thank you so much for this video! This was so helpful!!
Holy crap, I had my doubts this was it. Hours of playing with Cam, rollers caps, cover before I found this video. 3 of the 4 were loose. Thanks for the video.
Thank you sooooo much for this video! I have a 2012 Cruize that started that “chirping”. I knew it probably wasn’t something major since no warning lights came on plus I only have 20,000 miles on it. (Was elderly mothers car.) Hubby was ready to tear into it but luckily I found your video first! He said you saved him a major headache of diagnosing the problem. He checked the spark plugs and they weren’t loose, but he took them out & re-seated(?)them……problem fixed!! Hallelujah! 👍
2011 LTZ ....Chirping like you said....changed with RPM...,,,, I would have bet $$$ it was coming from the valve train...figured the same as you no way coming from the plugs but what do I have to lose...#1 tight #2 loose #3 ready to fall out #4 tight.....took all out & put right back in...FIXED FIXED FIXED....run smoother & better throttle response....WOULDNT HAVE BELIEVED IT IF SOMEONE TOLD ME....THANKS
Yes I was already in panick mode , and was pricing engines ( not cheap by the way ). After ruling out the accesories I had little to no hope for the spark plugs being the problem. I know it was one of the happiest moments when tightening the plugs fixed the issue. I am not kidding when I say its like someone dropped the plugs in there and turned them like a turn and a half. Thank you very much for sharing and the feedback. Thanks for watching.
I'm the "proud" owner of a 15' Chevy Cruze and today it's not making me so proud!! I love my car. I know tons of people say it's shit, but I'll be honest, this has been a great car to me. All vehicles will go through it's wear-n-tear moments, but overall I wouldn't change it. With that being said, my Cruze just started doing the whole "chirping noise" tonight and my check engine light came on. I can't wait to see if this is the case with mine. Let's pray that I only need to tighten my spark plugs. Thank you for the video!! I'll keep you posted.
Well, one of my spark plugs were in fact loose, but it's a deeper problem I'm afraid. I'm getting oil in the spark plugs..🤦🏼♀️ it might be time for an upgrade.
You just need to replace the valve cover and gasket. The oil will need to be cleaned out of the spark plug wells. Your coil pack may work once the oil is removed ( that is causing the hesitation) but I would recommend replacing it as well. Here are the links. I also have a valve cover gasket replacement video in my Cruze playlist. valve cover amzn.to/4dtKF3R ignition coil amzn.to/4ftGuqF
Wowowowow my friend I just finished up doing what you said and my chirping is gone, I tell I’ve been trying to figure that out for years I promise you, I cannot tell you How Happy I Feel Thanks to YOU!!!!!
I typed to this before I watched the video. It's for sure something with the spark plugs. I just got done changing them drive for ten minutes or so and that's when u noticed the chirping noise.
Hi I'm a auto tech I ran into this this morning I read the tsb concerning pcv and crank seal but it was a loose number 2 plug it was loose and discolored from combustion gasses leaking out...thank you for taking the time to upload this.
My 2016 Chevy Trax was having this same issue. Could barely hear it when it started. Then it started getting louder each day. Then, OMG!!! Thank you for this video!!! Thought I was gonna have to take the car to a repair shop. After watching this video, I went to Autozone [they loan out tools] the next morning and used the tools mentioned and found that the spark plugs was so loose, if the car was upside down, they probably would have fell out. I tighten all four of them up and the car runs as if it just came off the showroom floor. The chirping noise is now gone. Thank you soo very much for the video.
This was my problem as well. One of the spark plugs holes was quite dirty with what looked like old oil. I removed it, cleaned it with paper towel and a wire brush, put it back in and the chirping vanished. Thanks, and I wish I found this video a year ago. 2015 Chevrolet Trax LTZ (Ecotec 1.4L Turbo)
Appreciate all the feedback , I encourage everyone to continue sharing their success stories or if not successful , I would love to hear your feedback. Fixing these Chevy Cruze one squeak at a time. Lets get this video to 100k. Thank you all.
I’m pretty sure your video is still saving 1.4L turbos 3 years later.. got my fingers crossed but I put a socket on my spark plugs and they were hand tight. Literally almost sounded like a lifter was letting losing and a slight squeak/squeal.. everything seems to be sounding good so far!!!!!
Oh, man! Thanks for sharing this. My son's car was making the chirping noise, I thought it was the belt tensioner. I found your video before we changed the tensioner, checked the plugs and found them loose. Easy fix, we're very grateful!.
I'm flabbergasted! I saw this yesterday and decided to try it this morning. My 2011 1.4T was chirping/ squealing. I pulled the pack and boom! Cylinder 3 is filthy, and lose!! Tightened it and boom! No more chirping!!
You just save me a whole lot of money my vehicle was making so many different sounds that I thought it was the wheel bearing I thought it was pullys I just now tightened one that was really loose now I don't hear any noise now that I'm riding it
You don’t know me. But I fucking love you, chirping stopped instantly. I thought there was a 0% chance that it was the spark plugs. You saved me a ton of time and money by not switching the belts!
My girlfriends 2014 was sounding pretty bad had a dealership look at it said it be $1k to do the cam bearings. I watched this went to tsc and for a ratchet and two sockets it was fixed in the parking lot. Thanks my man
My son purchased a 2011 Cruze LTZ w/ RS package brand new It was the worst piece of garbage I had ever seen. From day 1 ownership, it spent more time at Elkins Chevrlet then him driving it. It was a good thing that the vehicle was covered by a GMPP for 6 yrs/100k miles. My son drove that boat anchor for close to 6 yrs and finally traded it in for a 2017 Subaru Impreza also brand new. Since he has had the Subaru it has not been in for repair beyond regular maintenance. The boat anchor Cruze was the last GM product this family has owned. I own 2 Subaru's myself and other then maintenance, they have never been in for repair
Check out this video , when you have time. I spent 2 months on and off , trying to track down this intermittent issue. This car really tried my patience , but I was certainly happy to solve the problem. Thank you for sharing , much appreciated. ruclips.net/video/Pbahvfk0z98/видео.html
I bought the 2014 Cruze LT brand new back in 2013....we have a love/hate relationship that sounds similar to what your son experienced with his! I laughed at the boat anchor comment, so true! I should have listened to my dad when he told me not to buy a GM, he had a few back in the 90's/early 00's that had so many issues. This will be the first and last GM purchase for me, though I am learning a lot about fixing things :D
So thankful for this video. Same issue on a 2016 Buick Encore with the 1.4L Ecotec engine. Watched a few other videos, but they were mostly focused on PCB issues. I decided to watch one more video because the noise didn’t change when I removed the oil fill cap. This one hit the mark exactly. As soon as I pulled the coil pack, I could see that one of the holes was brown from blowing air around the spark plug. Sure enough, the plug was very loose. The one next to it wasn’t fully torqued either. Torqued them all up, and no more problem. I’ve got a happy wife again! I sent a Super Thanks!
This worked!! I searched for months to find the cause of this noise. I changed the tensioner. I changed the belt. I was about to go to the dealership when I saw your video. Thank you very much!
Wow can’t believe it actually worked on my 12 Chevy Cruz. I was skeptical at first but said why not it’s not gonna affect me in anyway to check so I did and damn it literally went away!!!!!! Thanks man!!!!
Thank you for this video! I too had the same problem with my daughters 2014 LT. I would have never believed this would cause the chirps and assumed it was a pulley. All four of the plugs were half a turn loose. Problem solved! Thanks!!!!!
Actually it's still doing it now. It's a result of a bad vacuum regulator diagram in the valve cover. When I pull the dipstick while running it stops. Luckily GM knows these are junk and is covering it for 10 years 120k miles so taking it to the dealer tomorrow.
Yay!!!! Thank you so much. I was searching RUclips before taking the car in tomorrow and found this, saved me a headache and surely a bunch of money!!!
Thank you, thank you, thank you! You probably saved me a ton of money. My two middle spark plugs were loose on my son's 2018 Buick Encore. Problem now fixed. I can cancel my Wednesday appointment with the dealership.
If you found this video helpful please share your experience. Also show some love clicking the subscribe and like button. Thank you all for getting this video on the road to 100k views.
DUDE. Thank you sooo much for this. Dealer diagnosed it as the crank seal, so I replaced my crank seal. Nope. I thought I had a vacuum leak somewhere, checked everything. Then I came across this video. Two middle spark plugs were loose as hell. Cleaned and tightened them and fixed the issue!
Mine was under warranty and had this fixed three times… told me it was crank seal each time. Doing it again out of warranty, just started tonight. If I would have known this I would have just fixed it myself.
That damn chirping sound is so embarrassing going through the drive thru. Putting it in neutral sometimes helped. But if this fixes it, you’ve figured out what MULTIPLE mechanics couldn’t. I even thought it was the belt and bought belt lube for it!
Yet another thank you! I have a 2017 Chevy Sonic w/ 1.4 and was worrying I would need to do the Water Pump (which I did a year and a half ago) or worse yet the turbo. Also was worried about a potential cam bearing. Viewed this and figured "what the hell, I will give it a shot". Sure enough, I pulled the coil pack and noticed what appeared residue around the outside of the #2 plug boot. It was just a pinch loose. Tightened down and checked the rest. Reassembled and problem resolved! 👍👌🤙
Absolutely amazing Had the same problem took it to the shop had a new belt put on still squeaked saw your video gave it a try and it worked perfect. Thank you!
Thank you! This worked. Was really tired of hearing it and every thing that has gone wrong on this car has taken $800 - $1000+ per trip to the mechanic to diagnose. Followed this and what do ya know, one spark plug channel was brown and nasty. Sure enough. Loose. The other 3 were clean and tight. I'm amazed the car didn't throw any codes about this. So, stupid. 2016 Chevy Cruze Limited.
Opel Astra J with the A14NEL engine like this one. 2011 model with 173k km. Started this sould a week ago. Went to the Opel garage here, couldn't find out what is was. Told me that cause I have an LPG kit installed, maybe its coming from it. I went to LPG shop. Nothing wrong with the bi-fuel system. But they sent me to an Opel shop they trust. Went there. When the mechanic sounded it, he smiled and told me "watch this". Comes back 1 min later with a screw driver and a torque wrench. I was baffled that a spark plug can become loose! None of them charged me anything.
Brilliant! Local shop had our ‘16 Trax (same 1.4L engine) for 3 days and couldn’t diagnose. Dealer was most recent service, so I assume Huffines didn’t tighten the plugs completely at the 95K mileage service. Frustrating! Your vid plus 5 min saved us a whole heap of additional service fees. Thanks!
Hi, I have a 2016 chevy cruze lt 1.4 turbo. I just had thr cam shaft valve and valve cover replaced due to check engine codes. Now I been noticing a sound like tons of crickets after you drive the car for awhile and when you accelerate. If I turn off the ac the noises go away. The car doesn't over heat, I do know if I start the car then turn on the ac the radiator fan keeps staring and stopping then I hear a chirp each time..please help..no check engine light on after I got valve cover replaced.
It sounds to me like the bearings on the ac clutch , that would be the most likely source since its occuring with the ac on. The fans will run with the ac on , now I supppose the fans would be the next suspect once I ruled out the ac clutch. The easiest way to isolate the clutch is to remove the belt and run it very briefly. If it is in fact the ac clutch then the way I would handle it is by replacing the compressor. I know they offer replacement clutch kits to save money but usually requires removal of the compressor etc. I have also found great deals on low miled used ones from ebay. Anyways I hope this helps out and thank you for watching.
Exactly the problem! Thanks. The only thing better than a cheap easy fix is a free easy fix. Ps this was the first video I watched. So you did in fact save me a ton of time.
Dude I haven’t taken them out and verified yet but I have this very consistent chirping noise from the top of my motor that I thought was for sure was the belt. But it only does it when I’m idling or at low rpms. Like I said I haven’t verified it yet but as soon as I took off the plastic cover on the motor it was instantly louder so I think it’s a plug leaking by. Which explains why it is a consistent thing and not a once in a while. Also explains why my car feels like it has lost some power
YOU NAILED IT, this was exactly my issue and tightening the plugs fixed the squeaking. I was very fortunate to watch your video before i was going to rip off intake or even the valve cover. THANK YOU!!
WOW! THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR POSTING THIS VIDEO! My Daughter's 2012 Cruze has been making this noise and I can't believe that was the problem! I don't know how that engine ran with the #3 plug completely loose. The others needed torqued down as they were coming loose. I guess the plug boots must have held in enough compression for the engine to run okay. I replaced the Turbo thinking it was the problem. Then I thought the A/C compressor was going bad because it stopped squeaking at first when I turned the A/C off. I don't feel so bad about replacing the turbo because the coolant lines were leaking anyway and that finally stopped the coolant leaks.
MY CRUZE JUS STARTED THIS CHIRPING NOISE YESTERDAY, DID MY RESEARCH AND FOUND YOUR VIDEO , EASY FIX MY GUY ! payed nothing but a few sweat drops from my head cause its +35 here lol
Great Video. Thinking it was a belt noise I saw your video, and sure enough the middle two spark plugs were loose. Tightened them and the noise went away. I am truly amazed that this was the cause of the chirp.
I have a 2012 Cruze Eco and my car recently started to make this loud chirping noise when I drive and when I'm idle.. it's embarrassing honestly. When I'm idle it's quieter, but still annoying. I'm saving this to show my mechanic or hopefully fix it myself.
Had a chipping sound on my 2012 when starting and right after shutting it off. Also chirped when I would slowly raise the rpm. Watched this video, pulled the coil pack off and checked the plugs. They were all tight. Replaced the coil pack and 5:04 tightened securely. Chirping sound is gone. I didn’t pay attention to how tight the coil pack was when I removed the bolts but the spark plugs were tight. I believe my problem was a loose coil pack.
I have had a 2014 Chevy Cruze for 13 months and I don’t know how common it is but loose spark plugs is definitely a known issue on these cars. Also you need to change the valve cover gasket.
You saved my life, they were charging 1.5K to replace turbo, thanks to you it only took me literally 5 min, you just gained a new faithful follower 😁🙏🏻🙌🏻👍🏻
Thank you so much for this video! Was very worried that I would have to replace something very expensive. Turned out all I needed was my toolbox and a couple of turns on the plugs.
Dealership couldn’t diagnose it... Mechanic shop told me it was internal... needed a new engine/drive it til it died. $6K
I spent 20 bucks on a ratchet extension and 5/8 plug socket. Tightened em up. Sound left completely and driving like a champ.
😂
Thank you for this video

Thank you for the great feedback.
Thank you so much. That was exactly the problem with my son's Cruze and fixed it for free. Thanks so much. Andrew in Surrey British Columbia.
@@LongboardManiac yes
@@LongboardManiac did u syill try to tighten the spark plugs?
You just solved the issue for my friends 2011 Chevy Cruz. She had the loud sound. Replaced the water pump and alternator lately, sound was still there. we came across this video. while going to check the spark plugs this morning They found out the coil pack was loose now the sound is completely gone! what a blessing! That is awesome. Thank you for taking the time to share this and thank you for the great feedback.
2016 Chevy Cruze belongs to my son. Can't tell you how much we appreciated this video. This fixed the problem for my son!!!
Thank you for the terrific feedback.
This is the issue every time I have seen a Cruze chirping. It's almost always the inner two plugs that get loose. Great video!!
My man, you may have possibly saved me from a nervous breakdown. That is exactly what the problem was.
Thanks for this awesome video!
Thank you for sharing . Another success story. I appreciate the feedback.
Wholyyy crap. I’ve been through multiple mechanics, and two valve cover replacements myself. This annoying chirp never would go away. It was the spark plugs indeed. Not “loose” but they really need to be snug. Lifesaver. Thank you for posting this!
Thank you for watching and the great feedback.
Just did this on a friend's 2013 Cruze and I've been chasing this noise for a year. All fixed no issues. You freaking rock my friend!!!!
I wish you would’ve had the video of the noise. Did it sound like it was coming from the belt?
When this problem came up on my wife's car, this video wasn't up yet. I was a set to just start replacing stuff until it went away because I couldn't diagnose it. Did one last search before I dropped the cash and holyyyy crap man you saved me a bunch of money and a Sunday afternoon. 5 minute repair once I had the tools out, and 5 bucks for a socket. THANK YOU.
Thank you very much for the great feedback and thank you for watching.
Excellent feedback , thank you for sharing.
Thank you very much for sharing , glad this solved yours as well. Thank you for watching.

Thank you for sharing your experience with this issue , and thank you for the great feedback.
I had the same problem with my Cruze, had 2 mechanics tell me it was something with the engine and I was better off getting rid of it because it was going to be so expensive to fix. My husband watched this video & gave it a try & the noise is gone! Thank u so much for sharing this!
I really appreciate you taking the time to share your success story as well , glad this could help save you money. Thank you
I am so glad I found this video.
Great job on repairing all of this, and thank you for the great feedback.
Thank you very much for sharing , glad this worked.
My daughter 2014 is making the same noise just started a few days ago.
Greatly appreciate the feedback, thank you for watching.
Over 6 months of trying to find why my car was making this noise, 2 mechanics and constant google searches. AND THIS FIXED IT. I love you 😂
Awesome feedback, thank you for sharing , and thanks for watching.
Dude…. This was exactly the issue on my kids 14 Cruze. I’ve been noodling on the issue for months but hesitant to do anything. Thanks so much. 10 minute fix.. Unreal!
Thank you for the terrific feedback , much appreciated.
Hope this fixes yours .
Thank you very much for sharing the experience you had with yours. Thanks for watching.
I hope all goes well , and it is nothing major. Keep us updated and thank you for sharing.
Just had the same noise on my daughter's Cruze,102,000 miles. 2 plugs on left side of motor were loose. Didn't even need a rachet to take them out. Removed all spark plugs, checked threads on plugs, all good . Reinstalled plugs, started car, and noise is gone.
Thank you for sharing and thanks for watching.
I got the same chirping issue on my 2013 chevy cruze after I installed the new engine cover. I found two spark plugs were loose. I tightened them up and the noise was gone. Thanks for posting the video.
Another great sucess story with this issue, thank you very much for sharing and thanks for watching.
RIght on the money. Previously did the same diagnosing and came to no conclusion. Found this descrition and low and behold, it was a loose spark plug. Did not spend any dollars diagnosing (just time) for about a month. tHANK YOU!!!!!!!
Thank you very much for sharing your success story , I appreciate the feedback.
I have this same noise with my car. I told everyone it sounds like a bird in my car. Im going to get the spark plugs checked tomorrow. Thank you sooooo much
Thank you for watching.
My guy!
This is awesome feedback, I love to hear success like this. Thank you very much for sharing and the great feedback, it is truly appreciated.
Made sure they were all tight.. and car runs quiet.. drove it around… still quiet… thank you so much
Thank you for sharing your experience and thanks for watching.
ank you for this video!!!!!!!
Thank you for the outstanding feedback , I am glad to hear it is running great again. Thank you for watching.
Holy cow this TOTALLY worked! All four spark plugs were loose, one way more than the others. THANK YOU for sharing!
Thank you for the terrific feedback , it is much appreciated.
You sir deserve a mechanics Nobel peace prize! Exactly the fix for my grand daughter's Cruze! I can't thank you enough!!
Thank you very much for sharing and I am glad this could solve your issue as well. Please continue to share with others . Thank you again.
You deserve an award for making this video! Thank you so much!
Thank you for the great feedback I appreciate it .
I had this issue on my 2012 Chevy Cruze and the spark plugs were very loose causing the chirping. I didn’t believe it was the cause of the chirping but I tightened the spark plugs to spec and the chirping is gone. Thank you so much for this video! This was so helpful!!
Thanks for sharing and the awesome feedback , much appreciated.
Holy crap, I had my doubts this was it. Hours of playing with Cam, rollers caps, cover before I found this video. 3 of the 4 were loose. Thanks for the video.
Great to hear , thank you for watching.
Hallelujah! 👍
Glad this helped fix another cruze. Thank you for sharing your experience and thanks for watching.
Please continue to comment . Also like and share the video if this helped fix your chirping. Thank you all , hoping to get this to 100k views soon.
Hope all goes well , thank you for taking the time to share .
Well, one of my spark plugs were in fact loose, but it's a deeper problem I'm afraid. I'm getting oil in the spark plugs..🤦🏼♀️ it might be time for an upgrade.
It's hesitating bad and almost acts like it wants to stall out.

Wowowowow my friend I just finished up doing what you said and my chirping is gone, I tell I’ve been trying to figure that out for years I promise you, I cannot tell you How Happy I Feel Thanks to YOU!!!!!
Thats great and I felt the exact way . Im glad to pass this information on and really appreciate the great feedback. Thank you for watching.
After I changed out a few parts including the spark plugs it started making the chirping noise. Literally after I did work on it
I typed to this before I watched the video. It's for sure something with the spark plugs. I just got done changing them drive for ten minutes or so and that's when u noticed the chirping noise.
Fixed my Cruze in 5 mins after following your video. No chirping noise now. Thanks for the Video boss!
Great to hear! Thank you very much for the feedback.
Hi I'm a auto tech I ran into this this morning I read the tsb concerning pcv and crank seal but it was a loose number 2 plug it was loose and discolored from combustion gasses leaking out...thank you for taking the time to upload this.
Thank you for leaving the great feedback , I appreciate it. Thank you for watching.
What’s the tab number??
My 2016 Chevy Trax was having this same issue. Could barely hear it when it started. Then it started getting louder each day. Then, OMG!!! Thank you for this video!!! Thought I was gonna have to take the car to a repair shop. After watching this video, I went to Autozone [they loan out tools] the next morning and used the tools mentioned and found that the spark plugs was so loose, if the car was upside down, they probably would have fell out. I tighten all four of them up and the car runs as if it just came off the showroom floor. The chirping noise is now gone. Thank you soo very much for the video.
Thank you very much for the great feedback and great job repairing this yourself. Thanks for watching.
Your solution worked like a charm. Bravo! The loud chirping completely went away after tightening the spark plugs. Awesome, dude.
Excellent! Thank you very much for sharing and thanks for watching.
Thanks for sharing , glad this solved your issue as well. Thank you for the feedback.
Great to hear , thank you very much for taking the time to share and thanks for watching.
Oh, man! Thanks for sharing this. My son's car was making the chirping noise, I thought it was the belt tensioner. I found your video before we changed the tensioner, checked the plugs and found them loose. Easy fix, we're very grateful!.
Really appreciate you sharing another sucess. Thank you for watching.
I'm flabbergasted! I saw this yesterday and decided to try it this morning. My 2011 1.4T was chirping/ squealing.
I pulled the pack and boom! Cylinder 3 is filthy, and lose!! Tightened it and boom! No more chirping!!
Thank you very much for sharing . I appreciate hearing another success story. Thanks for watching.
You just save me a whole lot of money my vehicle was making so many different sounds that I thought it was the wheel bearing I thought it was pullys I just now tightened one that was really loose now I don't hear any noise now that I'm riding it
Thank you very much for sharing , glad this was able to fix your noise as well. Thanks for watching.
@@s33therfan I'm super happy thanks again
Thanks. #2 spark plug loose. 2012 Chevy cruise 1.4T
Thank you very much for sharing , glad this helped fix another one.
You don’t know me. But I fucking love you, chirping stopped instantly. I thought there was a 0% chance that it was the spark plugs. You saved me a ton of time and money by not switching the belts!
Thank you for sharing your experience and for the terrific feedback. Greatly appreciated.
I would like to thank you this was the problem with my wife’s car. Your video was very helpful.
Thank you very much for sharing , glad this could solve your issue as well. I love the feedback.
My girlfriends 2014 was sounding pretty bad had a dealership look at it said it be $1k to do the cam bearings. I watched this went to tsc and for a ratchet and two sockets it was fixed in the parking lot. Thanks my man
Thank you for the excellent feedback , it is much appreciated..
Great to hear . I appreciate you taking the time to share this. Thank you.
This worked!!
I searched for months to find the cause of this noise. I changed the tensioner. I changed the belt. I was about to go to the dealership when I saw your video. Thank you very much!
Thank you for the amazing feedback it is much appreciated.
Wow can’t believe it actually worked on my 12 Chevy Cruz. I was skeptical at first but said why not it’s not gonna affect me in anyway to check so I did and damn it literally went away!!!!!! Thanks man!!!!
Thank you for the great feedback , it is much appreciated.
Thank you for this video! I too had the same problem with my daughters 2014 LT. I would have never believed this would cause the chirps and assumed it was a pulley. All four of the plugs were half a turn loose. Problem solved! Thanks!!!!!
Thank you very much for sharing , and great to hear this solved your issue as well.
Actually it's still doing it now. It's a result of a bad vacuum regulator diagram in the valve cover. When I pull the dipstick while running it stops. Luckily GM knows these are junk and is covering it for 10 years 120k miles so taking it to the dealer tomorrow.
I can't believe this worked. Thank you so much for putting this up. Saved me hundreds of dollars
Thank you for the great feedback.
2012 chevy cruz squeak fixed!!! #2 plug about 2 turns loose. Thank you so much brother!!
Thank you very much for sharing , glad this fixed another cruze.
THIS FIXED MY PROBLEM! ONE SPARK PLUG WAS LOOSE!
THANK YOU SO MUCH!
I appreciate you sharing , hope for many more success stories and contunuing to share this video.
Yay!!!! Thank you so much. I was searching RUclips before taking the car in tomorrow and found this, saved me a headache and surely a bunch of money!!!
You're welcome!! Thank you very much for sharing your success story and thanks for watching.
Thank you, sir, this video was such a blessing. The chirping stopped.
Great to hear this fixed your issue. I appreciate the feedback , thank you.
Thank you, thank you, thank you! You probably saved me a ton of money. My two middle spark plugs were loose on my son's 2018 Buick Encore. Problem now fixed. I can cancel my Wednesday appointment with the dealership.
Great to hear, thank you very much for the feedback.
Fanstastic feedback , thank you for sharing , much appreciated.
Hope this fixes the chirping for yours, thanks for watching.
Hey can I ask you if this actually fixed your issue!!? I have the EXACT SAME PROBLEM going through drive throughs and it’s embarrassing haha
Lukas and Nick
Did this work for you?
Yet another thank you! I have a 2017 Chevy Sonic w/ 1.4 and was worrying I would need to do the Water Pump (which I did a year and a half ago) or worse yet the turbo. Also was worried about a potential cam bearing. Viewed this and figured "what the hell, I will give it a shot". Sure enough, I pulled the coil pack and noticed what appeared residue around the outside of the #2 plug boot. It was just a pinch loose. Tightened down and checked the rest. Reassembled and problem resolved! 👍👌🤙
Truly appreciate the great feedback , thank you for sharing.
Thanks a million ! For this video . 2012 Cruze …….. Chirp no more ! One loose spark plug . After I tightened it the chirp was gone .
Thank you very much for sharing , glad to hear another chirping Cruze has been fixed.
Absolutely amazing Had the same problem took it to the shop had a new belt put on still squeaked saw your video gave it a try and it worked perfect. Thank you!
Great to hear , thank you for taking the time to share , much appreciated.
Thank you very much for sharing , glad this could solve yours as well. Appreciate you taking the time to leave great feedback.
Literally just fixed it after watching your video!
Just one spark plug was a tiny bit loose.
Thank you for sharing , great to hear another success. Thanks for watching.
That was very nice of them. Thank you for sharing , much appreciated.
I had one spark plug that was loose, tightened, noise is gone. Saved me time and money. Was dead set on replacing the water pump.
Thank you very much for sharing , glad we can continue to get this information out.
I couldn’t believe it but yes our 2012 had an inner one about a half turn loose and the squeak is gone! Thank you!
Thank you for sharing your experience , much appreciated.
Thanks!
Great to hear! Thank you very much for taking the time to share and the great feedback. Much appreciated.
Dude your a life saver I went through all the things you did too freaking out saw this video they were all loose. No more chirp. Thank you so much!
Thank you for the great feedback, it is much appreciated.
@@s33therfan was your engine chirp like a squeal as if it was the crankcase seal going bust? Was it running rough a bit?
Thank you very much for sharing and I am glad to hear this has fixed another cruze. Thanks for the great feedback.
Also explains why my car feels like it has lost some power
so was that the case?
YOU NAILED IT, this was exactly my issue and tightening the plugs fixed the squeaking. I was very fortunate to watch your video before i was going to rip off intake or even the valve cover. THANK YOU!!
Love this comment , and thank you for sharing . Glad this solved another chirp issue. Thanks again.
Thank you very much for sharing this ordeal and I hope this video can continue to be shared and help others. Thank you for watching.
MY CRUZE JUS STARTED THIS CHIRPING NOISE YESTERDAY, DID MY RESEARCH AND FOUND YOUR VIDEO , EASY FIX MY GUY ! payed nothing but a few sweat drops from my head cause its +35 here lol
Thank you for sharing , glad this worked for yours as well. Hope we can all spread the word and get all these chirps fixed. Thanks again.
Thank you so so much hard to believe spark plugs were causing the sound!
Definitely was the last thing I expected . Thank you for the feedback.
Thank you! Same problem on a 2014 Cruze. I will check the spark plugs now. I thought it was a belt tensioner.
Thank you for watching
Great Video. Thinking it was a belt noise I saw your video, and sure enough the middle two spark plugs were loose. Tightened them and the noise went away. I am truly amazed that this was the cause of the chirp.
Thank you very much for sharing , glad this fixed yours as well.
My 2014 has 90k kms n started the chirping just now....Thanks a bunch for the video man
Thank you for the feedback , it is greatly appreciated.
I have a 2012 Cruze Eco and my car recently started to make this loud chirping noise when I drive and when I'm idle.. it's embarrassing honestly. When I'm idle it's quieter, but still annoying. I'm saving this to show my mechanic or hopefully fix it myself.
Thank you for sharing. I hope this fixes your car also. Thanks for watching.
you dont happen to have video or audio of the chirping do you? visiting my daughter and her 2011 cruze is make a noise
I tried this fix. amazing!!! I cant believe this could be a thing. you saved us a ton of time and money with this post. thanks.
I'm glad this also fixed your issue . Thank you for the great feedback and thanks for watching.
@@s33therfan I made this video as a result of the fix - audio of the noise before and after ruclips.net/video/pJk1wnXOBJg/видео.html
I really appreciate you taking the time to share this and the terrific feedback.
You Will also notice the film of oil in the well. And then the loose spark plugs. Thanks for your posting.
Thank you for the feedback , and thanks for watching.
Thank you
As simple as that
You saved me a whole lot of money bro
All four of the spark plugs was loose.
Thank you again for sharing
Thank you very much for the feedback , I am glad this video has solved another .
Thank you very much for sharing and the great feedback.
Dude thank you this is exactly what I needed my car doesn't make that annoying sound anymore
Thank you very much for sharing , glad to hear another success story.
That fixed my 2011 Chevy Cruze. Thanks a lot sir!!!
I appreciate you sharing you experience , thank you for watching.
Thank you so much for this video! Was very worried that I would have to replace something very expensive. Turned out all I needed was my toolbox and a couple of turns on the plugs.
Thank you for the terrific feedback , glad this solved your issue as well.
