I do like the way he walks you through the trouble shooting process instead of going right to the issue like most other videos I have seen. Especially with people who are not mechanical experts like myself 😅.
My squealing rivals the most annoying car alarms. The A/C bypass pulley. Had to order a new one. In the meantime, my neighbor's new wake-up time is 5:15 am.
It’s crazy because every single time I hear or feel something wrong with my car not knowing what it is, 1A auto somehow always matches the exact problem I’m having.. you guys are wizards or something
I always keep the old one for emergencies if new one comes off or is defective. You won’t be stranded. Keep your old belt if not broken or missing most ribs it will get you home or parts store
You helped us diagnose the problem with my Dad's 2017 Chevy Malibu LT it was making the EXACT same engine noises as your truck was. So we took it to our cousin's friends place and are waiting to hear back from him this morning on his diagnosis! Thanks again @1A Auto !!!!
You are a life saver…because mines been making the noise slightly … I can hear very well … and sometimes when I accelerate it gets a little louder…but not noticeable to anybody but me…I’m going to get it looked at soon because I knew something was wrong .
A worn bearing in any pulleys i.e. pumps, alternator, AC, idlers, or tensioner can cause a cascade of problems to other systems...too many people overlook this until it's too late...
my 3.7 v6 started doing this just today. wondered about the belts, then i wondered about the clutch. by the time i got it home, it was squealing when idling, when at highway speeds, when the clutch was engaged, when it released, when disengaged. and when i popped in for a look, i could see a pulley at the very bottom wobbling. so i think thats my issue. this video helps a lot to confirm my suspicions.
Yes I did watch the video with the sqeaky coming from the water pump bearings , my ford taurus 2005 has the same issue . Great video know I understand better about vehicles.
mechanics couldnt figure out my issue and even said they "checked my fluids" charging me for washer fluid and got my car back just for it to be out of coolant and overheating the next day. this helped
you guys do not have to speed up the video when removing the water pump. I'd like to see that in real time with commentary, even though i'm not doing this job. I just like learning.
That’s absolutely the sound that I heard under my hood when I was doing 65 and I took my foot off the gas to see what the heck was going on and then there was a trembling in the steering wheel check engine light temperature gauge goes up I’m looking all over for a safe place to stop all of a sudden there’s a rest area I pull over I get out belt hanging from the bottom, coolant all over the ground. I am asking my Mechanic to add a new thermostat to this he replaced it not long ago but it all this house to come out this is a good time to put in a brand new one
2017 ram 3500 with the 6.4 hemi here. Flushed the coolant out which was nasty and helped some with heat. But it still didn’t heat well. Then changed the thermostat yet still hasn’t improved the heat. But I can hear some noise occasionally from the engine bay. I’ll try flushing it again when the grass starts to green again.
That only happens to me on rainy days, or if I do a start up after some rain. It lessens and goes away after a few minutes. It never happens for me on days with no rain.
I thought noise was a water pump bearing, but after using my listening scope..it seems to be a idler pully...which is right under water pump, but much easier job.😊
Heard the whining noise and ignored it next day it was leaking coolant, had the air on high, radiator blew , my car started steaming ,radiator was cracked, ended up having to replace tension belt radiator and water pump ,learned my lesson
Does this sound only happen in Park/ Neutral? I have something similar but only hear the squealing when in P/N. If anyone knows what it might be it would be so appreciated. Great video!
Since it has been cold the past few days that's exactly how my truck has been sounding I have a 2004 Cadillac Escalade. When I put my foot on the brakes 2 Change gears it gets louder
i really like your explaining it clearly mentioned we have to inspect all moving parts not disiding change water pump then you fond the nois still there however thanks sir saeed from Saudia arrabia
I replaced my tensioner with an “oem” one and this one has a metal wheel instead of a plastic one and it left metal flake on my serpentine belt. Is that a problem?
I was thinking that to on my tacoma just now. But I grabbed the water pump pulley and wiggled like the gentleman in the video and mine wiggles too. Looks like I got a water pump to buy.
Well being a aircraft mechanic working on cars as more or less my own personal hobby, very well put together video. Although for the layman I don't know if a stethoscope going down there while the fans moving I get the warnings but you know people that don't have and I'll say expertise however mild that might be with moving parts you may want to consider taking it to somebody like A1 Auto 😎 and no I live in Florida so I don't get any snow😁 on the ground or compensation just saying well put together video
Yeah, I'd rather take the belt off and check everything out rather than trying to do it with everything moving, Murphy's law, is always at play, especially with moving parts.
Why’s my 1993 GMC Sierra is heating up when I turn my A/C on? I ready remove thermostat and still heating up, whit the thermostat off doesn’t heat up, thanks God Bless you
+777spit We wouldn't be able to diagnose an issue like that here, you may want to have a local mechanic take a look at it. Thanks for checking us out! 1aau.to/m/Shop-1AAuto-c

Question i know its my water pump bearings, but ugh i drove like 2 miles at low speed to get home, it finally said nah last night when i stopped, is the only thing i have to replace a water pump bearing? Or the whole water pump? I have a 2018 silverado
My F150 started it same thing very similar I'll post a short on my channel. Today being Christmas I've got to drive elsewhere I wonder and hope it's safe? Can't really get it fixed to replace today if it's a belt.
Is he saying that you MUST replace the radiator and heater core? The previous owner already replaced the radiator, I feel like I don't want to buy so another one.... don't mind the thermostat. Didn't cost much. But the radiator can get pricey.
I’ve found that I can remove the belt an physically inspect the bearing/pulley. Once the bearing is far gone enough to create the noise in the video it can be felt. For me pry bar and stethoscope is the last resort.
I did this, narrowed it down to the alternator, and then the new alternator was making a horribly noise even worse than the old one! My luck. 3rd one worked great though.
I have this noise happening now but what if I have just changed my water pump before this noise started happening but didn’t change the idler pulley to it?

I learned a lot!
One part of the lesson is related to flushing both my radiator and banking account.

1A auto is a one stop shop - parts and how to diagnose and replace 👍
A worn bearing in any pulleys i.e. pumps, alternator, AC, idlers, or tensioner can cause a cascade of problems to other systems...too many people overlook this until it's too late...
This was the exact same issue my car had, confirmed it when I dismounted the pump.
Thanks again 1A Auto, very helpful as always!

Some of the best videos on RUclips! Great production, videowork and sound. This young man does an outstanding job. Not a time waster. : )
I diagnosed the problem immediately when he said the belt was spinning at 1,000,000 mph. The motor is going WAY too fast
This is by far the most informative and well-made automotive video I’ve ever seen on RUclips
The channel is amazing

Just use slow mo and enjoy.
Thank you for posting your video. This enabled me to complete needed steps to ultimately replace my belts in my truck. Keep up the great work!!
I love this guy he's funny and entertaining. Hey, that's my truck the only truck that out here.
You know its serous when he puts on his seat belt to move the truck into the shop😂

Hello, nice video. I just change my waterpump, but after replacing it starts the same sound as your video, but after a while it goes away..
Question: do you replace the thermostat before or after flushing the cooling system?
Always learning from you videos. Thanks for the time taken on making great videos. Thumbs up
Your visual on this video is awesome
Great tips! I miss when he used to say “vearickle”

This just started on my 06 tahoe with 180k and it's the exact sound you have but no that loud, great video.
That was the first thing I would have checked as I already know that sound!
Very well presented! 👏 Thanks a bunch!
Had the exact same sound coming out of my 2019 Chevy Silverado ended up being the water pump as well 😮.
Thanks for the Info Bro U need your Own Show Todayyyy
I replaced my tensioner with an “oem” one and this one has a metal wheel instead of a plastic one and it left metal flake on my serpentine belt. Is that a problem?
How big of flakes and how many.
I'm hearing that right now on my 4runner. I think it is the ps pulley.
I was thinking that to on my tacoma just now. But I grabbed the water pump pulley and wiggled like the gentleman in the video and mine wiggles too. Looks like I got a water pump to buy.
Changed water pump, crankshaft pulley, serpentine, and alternator bearings still squealing.
What about timing belt? Is that still a thing? Or can you just remove the belt without worries? Thanks in advance
Give him a cup and send him for a drop. I’m never this enthusiastic when car problems occur😂
My trucks the only one running. Lol dude that's the best.
You saved me hours of finding a problem...thats exactly was happening in my car

you know i was making fun of this channel but realized this channel covers the ASE test.

funny how he only makes videos on vehicles that have easy access to components and are super clean....very realistic

Thanks another thing to worry about a 2018 traverse.
I have a very similar noise when engine is idling. When I accelerate, it seems to go away. Could be a water pump or something else?
Did you check the belts?
Did you figure out the problem?
Is it possible to have a bad water pump but my car doesn’t overheat? I have the noise and the coolant leaks when parked but I top it off every other day.
Thank you so very much for the help
Nice Studio 😂 so squeal after heavy acceleration? Bad AC compressor clutch?
Nice Work

I , have in the past replaced the timing chain on my cars , and ending up replacing the water pump depending on the mileage of the vehicle.
He is the Nile red of cars
How much resistance should there be when spinning the water pump pulley? (Without the belt attached).
You are the best 👌

Its a good learning on your channel here.. really liked it. Thank you..👌🥰
Do you have the motor running while you flush the system out?
My 2004 suburban has a roaring noise under the hood. Changed water pump and thermostat and radiator. Now months later a roaring noise.??
What is the torque that I should put in the bolts of a water pump of a gmc sierra 1500 5.3 2018
Very good explanation, thx
I got similar noise in my car but only in high speed. What could be the issue?
If your belt is squealing just spray water on it or brake clean see if it quiets or not that’s an easy way to confirm belt noise
I’ve found that I can remove the belt an physically inspect the bearing/pulley. Once the bearing is far gone enough to create the noise in the video it can be felt. For me pry bar and stethoscope is the last resort.

How long should a water oump last in a truck like that
How do you diagnose the noise using a pry bar
I have this noise happening now but what if I have just changed my water pump before this noise started happening but didn’t change the idler pulley to it?

Could it be a water pump if its only at idle?
Thank you 🙏
Hey do you guys take apprenticeship I needs some practice
