It feels great to be back in the woods and mountains once again with my dogs. I hope you enjoy today’s adventure. I tried to give a few tips on how to back up a trailer and then I show you how to do it and why you should probably never listen to any of the tips that I give you because I still make a lot of mistakes. But of course it all works out in the end. We have been so lucky living the nomadic lifestyle and it’s been awesome to share it with all of you. Thanks for subscribing and commenting and don’t forget to hit that like button. It really does help the channel. In case you missed our last live stream, you might want to check it out. I answered a ton of your questions and filled you all in about burning man, a mouse problem in the trailer, Starlink, and much more. Friendly tip from a retired Truck Driver that now just RV camps. first Avoid backing from the blind side. Second tip watch where trailer tires are use them to judge exactly where and when to adjust your steering. and biggest tip you did is to GOAL (Get Out And Look) as your backing in alone. or if you are with someone else have them at back of trailer to guide and make sure to let them know to stay where you can see them in Mirror. And let them know they stay where they can see you in the Mirror.
I am 63 years old and have backed equitment trailers for years and Campers and other things but my first times backing them I was around 20 years old and it scared me and I sucked but now it's nateral to me lol
Aw, I just bought a pair of those wheel chocks a month ago. I would've ordered them through your link if I'd known! BTW, you can turn them orange with spray paint. It will chip off the rubber over time, (primer helps), but it only takes a few seconds to refresh it periodically. Good job backing up! No shame in getting out or needing to re-align. I worked for the Department of Transportation as a truck and heavy equipment operator, and trust me, there were GOAL stickers EVERYWHERE. (GOAL=Get Out And Look). :)
I’d need a lot of practice backing up as I have not done so in years. And my only experience is with boats. RVs are another ball game. They make a chock that fits between the tandem tires that has a screw that binds it in between. The dogs are really going to enjoy this spot. You too.
Now THAT was a great video! Very entertaining and made me feel like I was there. Hope that dude doesnt come a knockin’! Scotty P Columbia Missouri GO MIZZOU FOOTBALL
I scouted area campsites and found little "if any" Camping spots able to fit Trailers, 5th wheels which directed me to find and buy a Truck and a Camper to haul around glad I researched what I wanted.
I was backing in to a spot one time and it had a low spot just in front of the concrete slab. Just as the campers tires hit that concrete, which I had inticipated some guy shouted "whoaa whoaa, go back forward". I just knew I hit something even though I had scouted. I came out of the truck and went back there and it was a guy guiding his wife backing in at the spot behind us. lol
G>O>A>L=Get Out AND LOOK Try to avoid "blindsided backing". Make your approach with your destination spot on the driver's side of the trailer. Take your time and don't worry about others-it's your accident, if it happens. Stay safe and God Bless!

I hate backing in. it's a pain in the butt. I rather have a pull though site. I also hate hitching up my trailer. It takes me for ever to line up the ball of my hitch to the tongue jack. You have to get it just right. Do you have any problems with that.? Also my pet peeve is when your driving on the Fwy and your trying to change lanes. Drivers don't have common courtesy and won't let you in.
I’m pretty good at backing up the truck to the tongue. I do have a lot of practice with it. Some people use a camera, but I don’t feel like I need it anymore. And about drivers on the freeway, I have to say as long as I am 20 to 30 miles away from a large city the freeway drivers even the big trucks. I haven’t really had a problem with. One thing I do when entering a freeway, because I usually start out pretty slow getting onto the freeway, is I always put my blinkers on and Vehicles seem to appreciate that and they give me plenty of room to enter the freeway at my speed which is usually about 45-50 mph until I canget up to 60 🌵🌲
I have to ask.... why didn't you use your bike? Or maybe you don't have one I don't know. But yeah as others said, and coming from a retired truck driver, always orient yourself so you driver side back when positioning a trailer. 😊

Yeah it gets easier but you have to attempt it in a lot of different situations first. Worst thing is if there are vehicles waiting for you!🌵🌲

I love watching all your videos and live chats. My favorite ones are with Eco and Dodger.
We appreciate you, Laurie! 🌲🌵🐕🦺🐕
Marking the spot is what the wife's for. Also to help you back in. They do come in handy at times😂
Yeah good point sometimes it’s nice to have a two legged partner! 🌲🌵🐕🦺🐕
My family used to have a travel trailer and mother would drive sometimes but she would not do the backing. 😄
Hey I get this! Nice site. I’m “getting out” in 1 year with my old truck and old camper and I can’t wait!

Those doormats were incredibly commonplace in the 1960s and ‘70s. Now you never see them. I had no idea they they were still around. 🙂

Love seeing the dogs. You cracked me up on your back up process well thought out at the end all good.
Yeah, I have to do all of the thinking for the three of us. I do the best I can and I usually take my time doing it. 🌲🌵🐕🦺🐕

checkout Echo's face at 15:11. It looks like he is smiling for the camera.
Haha I didn’t catch that! He does smile sometimes! 🌲🌵🐕🦺🐕
Never blind side when backing in unless you don’t have a choice it will heave you a lot of time and wasted energy. Safer also
That’s a good tip which I hadn’t t thought about before! 🌵🌲
