You Need To Know This Before RV Camping In Quartzsite Arizona
Quartzsite, Arizona 2024 is an RV campers dream or worst nightmare. Depending on what you are prepared for and what you were expecting, you will either love or hate LTVA boondocking in Quartzsite. I am a full-time nomad living in a travel trailer with my two dogs and we have Boondocked in Quartzsite many times. I will share with you everything I think you should absolutely know before you attempt RV camping in Quartzsite yourself.
I did a video about the proposed Quartzsite LTVA price hikes: ruclips.net/user/live9e_om_4XNIs?si=15zKkM3MygDBvkp0

    Keep it coming! Love the info! I watch a LOT of nomad channels, you're the first one to mention that there's a separate area for dumping blue-boys (that I've seen, anyway, lol). Does the RV show usually have a lot of smaller trailers that can be towed by a mid-sized truck, or is it generally mostly large units? I've been toying with the idea of coming to Quartzite with just my truck, and then going to the RV show. (Winter hasn't even started yet and I'm already sick of the cold and snow, haha!)

    The price increase also includes the other LTVA areas. They all need maintenance as well as more ranger presence due to the uptick in population. I don’t disagree with a price increase. But maybe not quite so extreme! Quartszite has become far too sketchy for my taste. I prefer the Imperial Dam area near Yuma.

    • @GotOut

      I think everyone is ok with a moderate price increase if services and upkeep and security are increased.

  • @cdlund2840
    @cdlund2840 3 часа назад

    I actually believe they are raising prices on the LTVA's so many people will not come. It's getting so popular (or necessary) to be a "nomad" that they probably would like to reduce the crowd. Although I don't know if you kick all those people into the two week areas how you are going to enforce the 25 mile move?

    I've done an in depth series of videos on my channel on the price increase and the situation in Quartzsite. Most people have decided they're going to camp in the free area after the price increases next year. I've used the water in the LTVA. It tastes like a copper penny even when filtered. The water in town is $1 for five gallons. You can dump your trash for free at the town transfer station. The $5million dollar Rv dump and water fill station is still not operational. The majority of vault toilets in the LTVA are vile and disgusting. Only the people ones close to the office are kept clean. You'd best bring Lysol wipes with you as well as your own toilet paper as they're frequently out. There are far too many people in Quartzsite during the season. The ATV's are particularly bothersome with the clouds of dust they stir up. I decided not to stay there this year and I've been much happier for it. Peace and solitude are a beautiful thing. Far enough to not have to deal with the insanity but close enough to pick up my mail and packages.

    Just so you know, BLM or the forest service says 25 miles straight line as in GPS to GPS location on a map. That is the distance you have to move every 14 days. My father found out by driving 31 miles away, but it was only 19 miles in a straight line. Luckily, he was not ticketed, but scolded.

    For sure, some bear gel would be great to have. I like to carry a small airhorn when I'm hiking. Nice to keep it in the camper as well. I'll also grab a couple rocks and bang them together when I walk. Feels a bit more normal than talking to the critters and they make a quick weapon. The biggest thing that causes anxiety in an area like that is there is sooooo much for your brain to process. You could sit in one spot for a month and not take it all in. So many rocks, nooks, crannies, shadows. Even the juniper trees look snake like and have dozens of hiding spots. It would be stupid not to be cautious and Eko knows it too. Smart dog 🙂 Good luck on the journey to Quartzite. I can see why you are taking a few days in that spot. Very nice!

    No matter what you choose for protection be sure to get educated on the use of it. I myself prefer a good handgun. I have Military training, and have also done my CCW training and practice often. If ever comes a time to use any form of protection training and muscle memory is Key to the safe usage of your choosen form of protection.

    This is an example of the types of places we want to explore when we start traveling. Concerning your comment about defense, DEFINITLEY hook yourself up. The bear gel sounds good. We have heard of the spray, but the gel sounds better. We'll be picking some of that up. There are also "non-lethal weapons" (just gifted myself one of those for Christmas 'cause I've been a good girl). Ordered mine from a company called Byrna, legal in all 50 states, no license required, they were running a Black Friday sale and I went ahead and bought it for various reasons, but will definitely be bringing it on the road. Once I logged onto their website, I was sold when the description said something along the lines of 'your target will be convinced they are shot, but they will be ok'. The point is this: there are various types of threats any RVr will face on the road, but the HUMAN threat is the most common. I have watched enough RVr traveling videos to know that there are a lot of sketchy characters out there, I just don't want to go to jail for murder for having to shoot one of them. Long story short, when it comes to a bear or mountain lion, the bear gel might be better. When it comes to smaller animals, or a person, the non lethal weapon might be better. We already have regular weapons that are registered and legal, but I'm not out to kill animals or people if I can at all avoid it. I just want to defend myself.

    I wasn't thinking wimp, I was thinking if I wanted to avoid mountain lions I wouldn't go anywhere near those cliffs or caves. LOL! Great tip about the gel vs. spray! Letting Echo lead the way home reminded me of my youth when we would go bar-hopping on horseback. One time a very grumpy cop stopped us, but I was able to talk him out of giving us DUIs by convincing him the horses had auto-pilot and knew the way home. LOL!
