I am Autistic and ADHD and have pretty bad executive dysfunction. Something that helps me is thinking about very small steps. Sometimes it's as basic as: put feet on the ground, stand up, walk to kitchen, drink water... and then thinking about and doing those really basic things can help with even the worst of inertia to do something like put away dishes, clean dishes... and sometimes that will lead into decluttering or a rearrangement of my living room. Also another thing that has helped me is to try and think in percentages. I can't always give everything to every day. But it's an accomplishment even if its 1%, 5%, 20% and I end up having to stop. I like the small chunk methods because it's a lot more doable. The big decluttering cleaning projects just don't happen for me often and I can't force or coax myself into that kind of state because it's a high energy state I don't normally operate at.

Yes things have gone wrong here at times. So many "snow days" here in Canada where I had the kids at home when I thought they'd be at school and I could tackle a big project. 😂 My daughter has become helpful with the decluttering so that helps. Amazing video! How did you know I've been waiting for some decluttering motivation? LOL. This is my life to a T (especially the one with the kids staying home on days I had "cleaning out the garage" plans). Hopefully your kiddo is feeling better!
Tend to multitask because I find more happens to get done and I get to everything (or almost everything). It's known not to be helpful, but it is for me. It's overwhelming and stressful too but it works. The choice paradox gets to me though.
I've thought of other things I've done that were not on my list that didn't need to be on my list... but writing them in and marking them off made feel better. LOL
:) for me, the most challenging aspect of decluttering is chaos about things that I don't know what kind there are. I can sort & declutter almost all, but the last few (or more of course) things. It's like my mind system hung up.
Tomatoes are fruits and vegetables, fruit vegetables 😅 😊 This was new, i just knew about avocados. okay, i just started this video and I'm sure as per usual it's going to contribute to my wellbeing like all your other videos. With that said, the face you made when you turned into "tomato bae" was very fun and cute. lmao
Have you ever been diagnosed with adhd? I’ve watched several of your videos and you definitely say things about how you live your life that correlate to the way adhd people live…. Or struggle to live. You seem to be on a never ending quest for “bettering yourself” which I connect to how adhd people are always having to adapt and “learn” how neurotypical people manage life.
I agree with everything said in this video. Although I never had clutter in my life, I did donate some of my clothes and also gave some to my nephew. What is important though is that once we get rid something, do not replace it; otherwise, decluttering will become meaningless. I am happy to say that without my furniture, I can fit everything I own into a medium size car in one haul. I had to get rid my only pair of running shoes after 24 year, yep, no kidding, 24 years, because the sole on one shoe split in half while I was in Central Park. I guess Nike owes me nothing.🙂
I feel so attacked by this video 😂. But in all seriousness, majority of the videos i watched about decluttering are all saying the same thing. but you tackle the most important parts. thank you for this❤
james cleary - "if you feel lazy or uninspired, get up adn brush your teeth. You will find that once you do that, you will then clean the sink, then the toilet, adn the mirror." A simple trick of the mind that once you do one thing, you will do another, and another..and another
My most spectacular decluttering fail: I put my toddler son in the Jolly jumper at the door to his room while I tackled his outgrown clothes. As I got started, he had an enormous liquid poop, which shot out the back of the Jolly jumper, and down his legs, where it pooled on the cream colored carpet. I spent the rest of the day cleaning!
0:34 am i the only one who always had their work done like 2 weeks before project deadline? Why would i wait all that time to do something stressful that i can get out of the way the sooner the better??? im confused

This is all so sensible! Thank you.... I love this logical and thoughtful approach. I have always operated according to the 'eat the frog' principle, and Newton's first law is especially potent. Kind wishes from the UK.....
Yes things have gone wrong here at times. So many "snow days" here in Canada where I had the kids at home when I thought they'd be at school and I could tackle a big project. 😂 My daughter has become helpful with the decluttering so that helps. My ADHD means I've been terrible with procrastination in the past but timers definitely help. Love this smart video Marissa ☺️
Hey Sam! My best friend was visiting her mom in Nova Scotia and they lost power for 6 days 😱 I’ve been hearing alllll about the weather up there - fingers crossed for “Murphy” and his weather to get lost. ❤️
@@AtoZenLife Yes, we just had an ice storm and power outages all over since Wednesday. Canada likes to keep us on our toes. 😂🇨🇦❤️
@@AtoZenLife That's quite a while! 😬
Your videos are so enjoyable! TY for all the hard work you put into these!! Great info...as always
Great video. I was looking forward to it.❤
Thanks for watching ☺️
Brilliant advice thank you ❤ very informative.
love these secret laws! i love eating the frog. I want these rules in a list. So good!
Where are those gorgeous dining chairs from?! Thank you for the inspiring content!
Sorry, they are from a brand that went out of business two years ago. 😢 Thanks for watching!
Lovely video, thank you 😁
Amazing video!
LOL
Amazing video, thanks!!
That was helpful! Thanks!
Your videos are amazing, incredibly watchable, informative and so original. Love them xx
agreed thank you
:) for me, the most challenging aspect of decluttering is chaos about things that I don't know what kind there are. I can sort & declutter almost all, but the last few (or more of course) things. It's like my mind system hung up.
My mind automatically went to the five second rule that says that food you drop on the floor is still safe to eat for five seconds! Ha!!
Also a very good rule 😉
Tomatoes are fruits and vegetables, fruit vegetables 😅 😊 This was new, i just knew about avocados.
Had to ask ChatGPT and this blows mine mind: Vegetables that are botanically considered fruits:
Green beans Peas Corn Artichokes Capers Olives Chickpeas Lentils Tomatoes Cucumbers Zucchini Pumpkin Eggplant Peppers Okra Corn on the cob Beets Celery Asparagus Broccoli Cauliflower Kohlrabi Fennel Salsify
“Concerning matter, we have been all wrong. What we have called matter is energy, whose vibration has been so lowered as to be perceptible to the senses. There is no matter.” -- Abert Einstein
okay, i just started this video and I'm sure as per usual it's going to contribute to my wellbeing like all your other videos. With that said, the face you made when you turned into "tomato bae" was very fun and cute. lmao
Glad you enjoyed that!
Great, thanks
Thank you ❤
🙏❤️
Eating a frog is similar to the Premack Principle - vegetables first then dessert.
I feel so attacked by this video 😂. But in all seriousness, majority of the videos i watched about decluttering are all saying the same thing. but you tackle the most important parts. thank you for this❤
Thanks so much 🙏😁
Your eyebrows are spectacular.
Thank you 😂
love the videos and that black and white dress lol.
james cleary - "if you feel lazy or uninspired, get up adn brush your teeth. You will find that once you do that, you will then clean the sink, then the toilet, adn the mirror." A simple trick of the mind that once you do one thing, you will do another, and another..and another
My biggest problem is probably decision fatigue.
Tomato bae! hahaha! Love it.
Very nice
Full of time honored quotes today,I like my recent new quote, time to collect the rent new york
It's called 'Sod's Law' in Britain: Anything that can go wrong, will go wrong, at the worst possible time.
Oh man 😭
I'm such a (metaphorical) sprinter. I need short deadlines, now or never. It's the only way I can get my ADHD brain to play ball.
0:34 am i the only one who always had their work done like 2 weeks before project deadline? Why would i wait all that time to do something stressful that i can get out of the way the sooner the better??? im confused
I decluttered my home by getting rid of the car. They take up so much space.
Desicion fetigue is real yall take it seriously after the declutter i was like im gonna sit here and stay still for a week
