Diecided to do another run with brand new HTRZ II Sumitomo tires. Times were about the same as last time. around 4.5-4.9 sec. Mods are K&N air instake and GHL Bullets coming soon.
These type of pulls on access roads etc are my favorite. Stoplight drags. 0-80 mph you are only .8 seconds slower than my stock 01 Z06 with the same type of launch basically off idle. Back when it was warm out I had a video of my car miraculously managing a really hard takeoff and getting like a 4.0 second 0-60. I was not expecting the car to actually hook, it caught me off guard and really put me in the seat
i love fast cars and bikes and the c5 is a bargain and a winner for sure.ive got a mostly stock 03 zo6 and for a passenger car its rediculous quick and has been super reliable as well has way more power than you can want for the street and will take out most sports cars even in 2018 without even trying whats not to love about one,not bad for a 15 year old car.can only imagine what a 2018 zo6 is like.love the c5 and would only sell it for another newer zo6 its that good.
Yep, that’s where you lean torque, obviously it’s your car, don’t let me tell you how to drive it, but peak power hits at 5400, if you want just take her up their and see how she feels. Your engine should be fine but do what your comfortable with.
@@ryanrake2714 Yep, those ls are solid. My 5.3’s in my Silverados are redlined everyday with 300k miles. No maintenance on motor except routine tune up.
@@TheAsianHammer I agree. If an engine cant handle being pulled to redline regularly(or your uncomfortable doing so for mechanical reasons) you need a new car. Sure I don't redline my car daily, but I am within a couple hundred rpms daily(210k miles).
@@joefriesen5296 yeah the autos are dogs. I blame the gearing… first going to 60mph with a car that generates “only” 345 horsepower is unreasonable for performance. I ain’t the best shifter but .18 seconds 3rd to 4th gear is pretty good.
I have a 98 C5 that I need to get tires for(rear) for now. It has Kumho's on there now. Any suggestions. This is my first on a Vette but i'm pretty sure it won't be EMT's
The HTRZ II Sumitomo tire isnt the most sophisticated tire, but its get the job done. I Never have trouble with traction (when I dont try to break loose on purpose lol). I dont know why people hate on them. Just get a pair and you can thank me later. inexpensive and will last you a long time.
Grant Mitchell Im debating whether to get the Nitto 555's or the HTRZ II...which do you recommend for daily driving and some spirited driving every now and then.
Nittos will give you better grip, but will have significantly more softer rubber, and significantly more expensive. If you want tires that will last and give you mediocre grip, go with HTRZ, they are cheap and they will perform fine at track days.
Grant Mitchell Got the htrz man, so far I'm happy with them! I have two friends one with a 2014 mustang gt (Manual) and one with a 2014 camaro ss (auto) that want to go to the dragstrip and race the 1/4 mile for fun...My vette is a 99 coupe (Manual)...any suggestions? none of us have gone before. and do I have any chances? lol
Most reliable car ive ever owned. However, if its a big ticket item you break like a transmission or engine, it will be expensive compared to other cars.
Yea, dont be afraid to pick one up for high mileage. They run with little to no drama, and are extremely reliable. You will pick one up for super cheap too. Got mine for 11k. Just change out the water pump and spark plugs when you get it.
Grant Mitchell how is it on gas LOL... as if he asked... Hey how is it on insurance too? And what does an oil change cost? And can you tell me how much washer fluid is for this car? I'm thinking of buying one but if washer fluid is too expensive I'm going to have to pass...
Why You cant do proper acceleration ? to at least 124mph (200kmh) ? Cars with over 300hp get more wheelspin than acceleration..its easier and more reliable to show true acceleration showing how it goes from 100-200kmh (62-124mph) than 0-60...
Lays rubber for half a block "I don't wanna make too much noise" lol

I was thinking the same thing.

Yeah i moved onto a c5z too. Crazy car for the money.
Holy wholeshot on that first one
This is a base model 99 ttop. Chevrolet didnt make the Z06 until 2001.
he never said it was a Z06. Also not a T-top, but a targa.

You get it ?
I just bought a 99’ with 99k miles for 7500!!!!
Damn that's fast af haha
Found one for like 8k lol leather too. I should buy it. My trucks eating 100 per week in gas
I never took mine that high on the tach. I DID notice that around 4000 it really rips! (2001 6 speed)
Yep, me neither.

2nd run was 4 seconds flat to me
If only it could hit 60 in first it'd be soo much faster
Who cares?? Only to be able to say it reaches 60 quickly?? Its about the pull between shifting.
@@jortepap Lol i commented this 2 years ago. And my comment still stands. What you said is true but irrelevent.

I do think a little more clutch slip will be of some benefit. Say about 3k rpm. I may be wrong too 👍
Would you recommend the K&N intake? I'm considering getting a C5 soon and might go with this setup
Speedaholics I would recommend the Airriad system, I have it on my c5z and it is really good.
Good shifts bro
Some damn good driving there
Thanks for the video!
Like that 1st one baby hell yeah!!!
Is this a non zo6
tito04srt4 a NON Z06?? You mean a regular corvette? 🙄
4.2 Seconds. Very nice.
How is this so much faster than all the rest of the C5s on RUclips, were you going down a hill?? Lol
It’s a manual, but also I haven’t seen that many c5s that are any slower.
@@ryanrake2714 must be your good shifting then. Yea most are autos and those are dogs

this isn't stock, right?
Xyrron just a cold air intake and HTRZ sumitimo tires
Awesome.
50mph in first gear is crazy but wouldn't that mean 2nd is too tall for rippin around?
Eh, second go’s to about 75-78mph or so. Depends on what roads your driving.
