It doesn’t matter what people thought of Mickey Rooney. He was a devoted and true actor, as were the other actors of his generation. He did whatever it took to make a living. Might’ve said things here and there he shouldn’t have, but he left this world nearly broke. Yet, he kept his integrity and dignity.

He and Judy were complete opposites when it came to ego's. Mickey's career started to nose dive after he was top box office for I believe the 3rd consecutive year. His reputation with women was not appreciated by the Moms and Dads of the World, so his box office started to decline, and Judy's was rising fast. It didn't take long before Judy past him, for good. Mickey was one of the all-time talents that ever stepped in front of the camera, as was Judy. Judy was one of those very few performer's that had that something extra that ELLEN TERRY USE TO TALK ABOUT.

He couldn't get work in Hollywood movies after the war because he was difficult to work with. When the studio system collapsed Mickey was out of luck

Rooney seems to have had a touch of dementia in his later years, and from experience with a parent who had dementia (also from watching Rooney's reality show) they can dish out verbal abuse but not take any response to it. I'll give her credit for putting up with him far longer than any of his other wives.
