I dont know all that went on, and its not my business but I can see that your Father was a very charismatic man but very hard to deal with. It may not be the popular opinion but I know 2 people in my life that have been like this, so I get it. You seemed to have patience with him but I know that when the cam was off life got real, on both sides..I just think that the law spoke, you weren't charged and he wasn't allowed to say your name. I couldn't watch it all. Jan kept winding him up to show him at his worst. When she was laying up against him he said he was in pain. She didn't care. He was an elderly gentleman who behaved like a lot of people do at the age. He didn't want to sing so she sang until he did. It's a bit of a "poor me, look what I have to put up with while living off his fame" show. Can't have it both ways. If you really loved the man you'd keep his secrets and let him go into that goodnight as a beloved star. This isn't done with love.

Families fight, argue and have falling outs, there's no secret or surprise. We'd just like to imagine the love, fun times and great memories abound for the ones we all love, cherish and admire for the happiness they've given us on TV, the stage and theater. Mr. Rooney is/was and will forever be an American icon. Unfortunately most of his family and associates were just cons. I pray he's resting in peace, God knows he's earned it 1000 times over.
Regardless of who did what to whom for whatever motivation this is serious dysfunction on many levels. So sad for all involved. Sometimes you just don't want to see behind the curtain.

He had a history of being abusive, except in this relationship the tables are turned because she is twice his size.... But they look like they get along better than people have you believe they did. In Mickey's eventual Elder Abuse Complaint, he said he was denied food at home. Thi seems to be verified at the 9:34 mark, in the restuarant he is finally sitting by himself and calls the waiter and says "I'm still hungary". There are a LOT of hints and evidence in these videos if you really listen to how Mickey said they opearted and how Micky acts in these videos, this was the only venue where he could fight back.

I enjoy his movies, and saw him in New York (Sugar Babies) and he was great. Since I never lived with the man, I truly don't know exactly what's going on. But one thing stood out more to me than anything else. In all his Biography type shows, it says he proposed marriage to all his wives immediately after meeting them, first date and BOOM! ... He's proposing marriage. It's not a good sign of someone you want to marry anyway!

One thing which annoyed him was that Jan honestly thought she was a better singer than Frances Ethel Gumm - Rose - Minnelli - Luft - Herron - Deans - (aka, Judy Garland). You can witness this in her many singing outbursts throughout the videos...

Hi Carol Cogbill you would have had to been there. I was with Mickey day and night for 40 years. This is a pilot for Mickey to make Hundreds of thousands of dollars, and he was having fun for most of the 3 weeks we filmed. When I first met Mickey as a child he was living with us in my moms house (when we first met him). Sorry you feel that way. You weren't there and you weren't part of his family so you wouldn't understand. Go read the book "was mickey Rooney murdered" written by an LA prosecutor

Jan was not really attracted to him. It was his *Star Quality and *Who He Knew and *His Access To Other Stars and Important People that attracted her. There might have been an attraction at one point but no one could deal with his sometimes aggressive mood swings and narcissism.

I met Mickey and Jan around 1979. A friend of mine was installing a Jacuzzi for them, and I was tagging along. I noticed then that Mickey had a low irritability threshold back then. Jan had asked me what I did, and I told her I was a Singer and Musician, but that I had just finished Cosmetology training as my fall back day job. I guess that Mickey thought this conversation had gone on a little too long, and had nothing to do with him, so he became somewhat irritated and derailed the topic. A few weeks later, I saw Jan's name on the marquee of The Sterling Inn on Ventura Bl, and I stopped in for dinner. Jan was very welcoming and even allowed me to sit in with the band. In viewing these videos, I would say that Mickey has Intermittent Explosive Disorder. A disorder where the emotional explosion is way out of proportion to the perceived slight. Quite sad. By the way, I still do hair...

His mandibular implants were too large - (ill-fitted). This hurts the jaw. He was very uncomfortable speaking with that super white implanted denture. They look like they might have been "porcelain" which nearly triples the price. Looking closely he looked as though his teeth were in a painful situation. As far as his abuse is concerned, well, that was for a trial to decide. Mr. Joseph Yule Jr. - (aka, Mickey Rooney) was not always a good husband. Akin to the likes of Mr. Bernard Schwartz - (aka, Tony Curtis) Mickey Rooney lusted after younger more shapely women. Using their fame to seal the deal. When you choose that way, without substance, commitment, or compatibility it won't last and all his marriages ended up failures due to narcissistic tendencies. Sometimes on both sides. Abuse should never have been permitted by the spouse or the stepson. That's the wife's fault.

im sorry but i dont see her abusing him at all...he sure does have a short temper tho.He was worried about his wifes health and her fat self didnt care...I think her weight is what made him so ill tempered alot...he even hit her in the back.I think he had a violent streak in him....makes me wonder if he killed his 4th wife and her lover..and got away with it.I mean he even married his 6th wife the same year...weird.
I read that the 6th wife was the best friend of the murdered 5th wife. Marriage #6 lasted 100 days...
It's so unfortunate that he was a victim of elderly abuse and still adored by the whole globe. And still made it to a fantastic age and died of natural causes. A man for the ages. Sadly missed and forever loved. Rest in peace Mickey Rooney

Less than one minute it took me to see she is a fraud!!!!!! I can't imagine the pain this man, who brought so much love laughter and poinient moments to the screen and his fans for how many years????? So terribly sad.

This is awful. He’s obsessed with money and business and was incapable of understanding either.
His wife is loud, annoying and likes to push his buttons....She talks way toooo much....I wouldn't be able to stand her. I could listen to Mikey for hours...It's nicest when it is quiet around him....His talent, mind and memories can come out when he isn't interrupted. She laughs at stupid things, interrupts, and doesn't let quiet happen. ...He gave me so much joy......I can still see him jumping over hedges, singing,dancing, smiling,....so full of life, fun, talent.....forever young in my memories....Once in a lifetime, one in a million, Noone will ever be as multi talented as Mikey Rooney. Rest in Peace.❤

I loved seeing these clips - I presume a pilot for the reality show..The Rooneys; did it air? Mickey Rooney was a great actor in his day with a brilliant mind - and plainly stressed with his old age ; perhaps depressed. Certainly upset and bitter about money. Jan is lovely : marvellous, patient and entertaining . Their bond is reflected well. Chris shows great patience at Mickey's outbursts at him, tantamount to bullying; probably though Rooney's own frustrations. I am sure it was not necessarily personal (after all Chris is the son of his wife); speaking from experience. When one cares for ageing loved ones, the ailing one often takes out their frustrations. I would love to see more episodes, if they were filmed. I hope that Jan is keeping well , I am sure she was sad the way everything ended with Mickey's passing. He shouldn't be having to deal with all these issues. By the time you're old and have worked hard your whole life, you just want a simple restful life where you can be you. Yes he's grumpy and picky but he's scared. They've taken his security, his world. His values and life that made sense and swapped it with very lazy indulgence with no class, Ono brains, no real service, and no respect. You wouldn't even want to be alive because it's so wrong and foreign to you. I'm 47 and I love living, I love old days films, and I loved Andy Hardy. He was funny. Someone that good shouldn't be treated like a silly child, driven about spontaneously like your tagging your puppy along, to visit Lindsey Lohann. It's just stupid. I would be annoyed. Plus, no one cares about a classy quality world he was part of - business. You know who understands? DONALD Trump!!!!!!
Jan thinks its all about her and she is very passive aggressive. She knows how to push Mickey's buttons when he is not in a good place mentally. Jan does not belong on the Hall of Fame at all. Mickey was a wonderful talent no one could touch him! He deserved more in his old age. The more Jan aggravated Mickey, the better she liked it! This is hard on the viewer...nothing but discord!
