- The late Tim Rooney and brother Mickey Rooney Jr. are interviewed about their lives and careers and their famous father in this 1987 appearance with cable TV host Skip E Lowe.
I met mickey rooney sr. at a book signing in the 90s Skokie il, he spoke for nearly 3 hours and told amazing stories.
His father was said to be most talent actor in hollywood by many famous actors. They said he could do it all; act in comedy ;drama; dance; sing etc.
Says a lot about Mickey's character when his two oldest children have nothing but compliments and good opinions of their father. Loved Mickey Rooney and appreciate his sons taking the time to talk about him.
God bless Mickey Jr. for keeping a good attitude every time he gets cut off. I'll bet he's had lots of practice.
😪
Mickey Jr. had to be the most patient man alive.
Love Mad Mad World.
That's what it's like coming from a big family.
R.I.P. Mickey Jr.
Tim Rooney has his dad's eyes...and even his same eye movements...It's uncanny...I see Mikey in those eyes come alive...
had. they both dead
Tim Rooney! My,Best Friend for many years! We,had some great time’s together back in the late 60’s and 70’s.Hanging out with Tim,Mickey Jr,and their dad Mickey Rooney! Wow,what fun we had! I have some Great memories! RIP, Tim! You’ve,left us Way too soon buddy! Ron Roman
I was friends with Mickey and Laura in NB for years and after Laura died Mickey was never the same. He moved to hemet then Sr died. Im sure that took a toll on him. I really miss my good friends Laura and Mickey. I drive past their apt all the time and think of them. RIP!!!
R.I.P. Mickey Rooney, Jr. (July 3, 1945 - July 16, 2022)
Each son has attributes of their father. Timmy's eyes, and Mick Jr. face shape
Tim looks and SOUNDS so much like his Dad...amazing...
Great interview the brothers are close and both sweet. Loved both of the brother's dialogue. This is such an old interview, I wonder how they are today.
Not only does Timmy look like his father, he also looks like the Kris Kringle character his father voiced in Santa Claus is coming to Town.
Tim acts, looks and sounds like his father.
Micky had really great kids. Enjoyed the interview so much.
Tim looks like MR and interrupts everyone like his father
Both of these sons look like their dad... very handsome.👍😊
They are all Christians.
That makes my day.
Mickey was a miracle
Tim looks like his dad. Junior looks like his Mom. Tim does like the camera but his Dad was a showman he hated the camera not being on him.
Tim does look a lot like Mickey. I just saw Tim in an episode of Adam-12 (Season 3 Episode 1). It has always been a favorite episode of mine because of the character Tim played. I never knew he was Mickey's son.
Timmy is his father's clone.
thinking the same no DNA check he is the dad.
I remember TIMMY ON MY THREE SONS. IN SEASON SIX AND. ONE OF TEEN REBEL IN. VILLEGE OF GIANTS
Also looks like Donavon Leitch from boomer days.
moontheloon5 And being his father’s clone is not a good thing.
@@janethartwig774 why is that ? Was he troubled ?
R.I.P Mickey Rooney Jr.
Hey people this interview was done in 1987. I don’t think they’re trying to live off of their fathers name.
Tim looks more like Mickey than Mickey Jr does. Also has more of his mannerisms.
Man that Tim really likes the camera time. When his brother starts to talk or tell a story he has to jump in and over Mickey jr.
karen plumlee Has his father's energy.
The camera man would have accommodated that by not leaving his camera on Micky jr while M.J. was STILL speaking.
Tim was a very obnoxious man. Just wanted him to SHUT UP!!!
His father great as he was did the same thing
yeah, too bad he cut in on the Judy story. oh well, younger brothers job.
Two delightful guys.
Tim's resemblance to his dad is so evident. Nice to see him...see and hear the young Micky in him. Mickey Rooney Jr. polite. Both appear to be very approachable and likable. Wonderful they are born again Christians.
Tim sure looked like his dad.
_Skip E. Lowe_ reminds me a lot of _Beverley Leslie_ and Tim is *_constantly_* cutting his brother off and _not_ letting him finish answering a single question.
Geez, Tim is obnoxious. Mick had issues with his father, that would have been far more interesting to hear about, than Tim’s self-indulgent waffle.
His Dad was the same way he talked to much
@@robertahubert9155 : Thank you, and in his old age, Mickey blew his own horn too much.
This interviewer sux !! He is horrible !!
Just Me, Now Voyager NE, and TLS Sand---Negative much?
its great to know that theyre saved too
Skip E. Lowe is the inspiration for Martin Short's comic character Jiminy Glick.
He's a dandy, isn't he?
OMG! how am i just learning this? how do you parody someone who practically is a parody of any sane person? thanks for the info
absolutely !!
I thought everyone knew that.. I guess not..From: Kimmy Hawk.. using my exes phone for you tube..
I looked up Lowe and learned that just a few minutes ago. I loathe Martin Short's character, and i equally loathe this repulsive Lowe.
Would love to hear more details one on one w jr. meeting other stars; what they were like and life w Dad. Great actor in so many memorable movies.
The young look more like his father he even has his gestures. To the oldest man have his name but the second one looks just like him.
When Skip said at the 15:15 mark that their dad has every right to be mad at Hollywood because, Hollywood is not Hollywood like it used to be! How these words ring true! I personally do not care for the Hollywood of today! I do not go to see the horrible movies that have been coming out of late, which include both bad story lines and a lot of bad acting! At $16.95 a pop! By the time you have bought your movie food, and sit down inside the theater, you may have already spent close to $30.00. Plus the kicker is if the film fails to bring in a certain amount of profit, within a specified time, Netflix or Amazon acquire the rights to show it.
You're right going to the movies was/is a massive rip off Despite that I miss going to the movies 😞 In my defence I only went if the movie had good actor's.( they get the best scripts therefore 90% chance of seeing a good movie ) Oh well at least we have Netflix . Such are the ( tragic) times we now live in.. It sucks ! 🥴
I remember Tim as one of the giants in the movie "Village of the Giants" along with Beau Bridges and Kevin O'Neal (Ryan O'Neal's brother). Ron Howard also starred in it.
Tim Rooney should be JR he really looks like his dad more than the lighter hair son. That's the way I see it. Watch all the Hardy series and loved them. Never knew he had children until watching this video thanks this is a delight. Who is the mothers or mother. What ever Mickey Rooney did in show business he always did a great job that's why so many enjoyed him so much.
I would have preferred to hear more from Mickey JR. than Tim. Tim kept cutting off his brother and did not let his brother speak just RUDE.
A SHIBA I found him as obnoxious as his father.🤮
They’re siblings!! I enjoyed both of them
@@michdoug1 , good on you. Don't expect me or the other 19 people who clicked thumbs up to feel as you do.
They don't understand. The story is supposed to go: "My father was the Pope and my mother the Queen of England, but I didn't have any help, I did it all on my own."
Wow, Tim looks a lot like Larry Hagman.
Tim was terrific.
Mickey Jr. had some wig.
Hey Tim, let Mickey speak. Very interesting video despite the intolerable Skippy!
Definitely inherited his father's personality, center of attention. Hard time letting others speak.
Mr5thWave He is hyper!!
I think he's high actually
The only reason why I think that Tim kept cutting in and interrupting his older brother is because I think Mickey Jr. had planned to say things about their father that Tim didn't want included in the interview? For what ever reason. Nobody is born perfect, we all have our faults. The good in our hearts will always shine!
Okay, I have to admit that the first thing I thought was that Tim's hair was colored and Jr was wearing some sort of hair piece in the front, but then figured out that they were both in their early forties so maybe not.
I thought Mickey had his hair bleached blond. Can see brown underneath.
Mickey Rooney Jr was an outstanding R&R singer. I strongly recommend viewing his performance on Shindig. He was actually held back by his name. His name opened doors but put a limit on how successful he could be. The same can be said for the sons of Merle Haggard and Buck Owens all of whom are really fine country music singers. Sometimes a famous name cuts both ways.
WHY DIDN'T THEY SAVE THEIR FATHER FROM THE ELDER ABUSE MICKY ENDURED AT THE HANDS OF HIS LADT WIFE AND HER SON?
TO SAY ALL HIS WIVES WERE WONDERFUL LADIES IS LAUGHABLE.TO SAY THE LEAST. MOST PROBABLY WERE BUT THAT LAST ONE. TELL THE TRUTH.THAT POOR MAN SUFFERED.
Tim had health issues that eventually killed him in 2006 8 years before their dad , plus the last wife kept everyone away from Mickey , its how those control things work. Plus they spent more time with their Mom
Even sounds like his father
Good interview with one exception...Skippy he’s simply annoying!
you're being kind. he's a real pukemeister!
But Skippys hair is absolutely fantastic
Tim reminds me of Micky. Takes over the conversation. I guess that’s DNA. IDK. Lol. I wish Jr. could have injected more.
I LOVE MICKEY ROONEY JUDY GARLAND MOVIES. His sons are cool.
I think the practice of zooming in on faces during interviews has somewhat gone out of style. I hate it.
it adds TMI! i don't want to see wrinkles, nose hairs, etc. eewww!!!
Skip E. Lowe, now that's a name out of my performing past....fun
Skippy is a goofball!.....Marin Short nailed him perfect!
Now I know where Jiminy Click character comes from (Martin Short) listening to Skippy! Lol
I wish Jr.'s brother hadn't interrupted him when he was talking about meeting Judy Garland, because he didn't get to tell about their conversation.
Timestamp?
I never seen so many stars in one place with the exception of the Oscars.
I heard during Mickey's last year's, he was subjected to elder abuse and bankruptcy; by his last wife (#8?) and a son. If Tim or Mickey Jr. were not participants, why did they not come to his rescue❓☹️
Tim had his own heath issues and died at age 59 in 2006 so like 8 years before his dad died in 2014
@@califdad4 I was wondering when he died, because if Tim had been able to I think he would have stepped in , even if he had to load the gun and put under his pillow ☺. It sounds like Tim was a lot closer then Mickey jr. Was Mickey jr. The oldest son? Wow Mickey Sr. Must have went down after loosing Tim thank you for sharing your knowledge about them
@@elbeejay2820 that's a scary thought 😱
By a step son, not a son.
elbeejay my sisters and I are going through the same thing as I type this. And this woman we had known all my life. There's nothing the bio kids can do. Our step mom and I use the term loosely, has kept us from our father for 21 years now and our dad is dieing of Alzheimer's.
Was this before or after their father was abused by his stepson? Where we're all his children when their father was tortured by his stepson?
I was thinking the same thing !
@Robert Gardea It's quite sad how someone who was top Hollywood royalty ends up old and helpless, at the hands of an abusive nobody family. C'mon on nowwww, he was married to the most gorgeous woman, Ava Gardner. Smh
Kelly came out with the truth about those leeches. BTW, it was the media that killed her mother. I would hate to be famous.
@@A358M Mickey Rooney was married to that woman for 37yrs ! So to imply he was a "victim" to such a horribly abusive wife is not just an insult to his character but to his basic intelligence. He had 37 yrs to get out of that union if he WANTED too.! .Sorry but the fact he was married 5 times says it ALL (EG: he was an expert on divorce 🙄) Fact is karma's a bitch .. ( much like his last wife ) .The irony 🙄 Oh well" Rest in peace" Mickey Rooney. Died at 90 + ?! That's a win 👍
Where was Rooney for his (many) kids when it really counted ? Not much !So why the hell should they be there for ol Mickey when " it counted" ? It is what it is ! Anyway Mickey was always a drama queen right up to the ( apparently 🙄) bitter end !
Is this guy where Jiminy Glick came from?
yes, I believe so
Yeah, how'd you guess!!
Yes but i feel also james lipton.....james lipton did the so and so shares a birthday with you and the ambush surprise element . I see this guy would be inspiration but also james lipton
*I think Tim has same condition as Mickey Sr. Talktoomuchitis LOL. I would have listened to Mickey recite the phone book. I'm sure he had fascinating stories*
Boy Tim really has to have the attention. He cuts his brother off every time Mickey Jr. tries talking.
between Tim and Lowe, Mickey Jr didn't stand a chance.
Sibling rivalry. all like that.
Ruined the interview.
@@janethartwig774 I agree. I finally got so pissed I shut it off.
Tim hogs the conversation. He's cute & interesting, but I wanted to hear the end of sentences by Mick Jr. and Skip. Tim's a lot like his dad...super energetic & a camera hog. This interview gets me nervous.
Tim Rooney and Liza Minnelli showed have made a movie together years ago😁
The one brother reminds me of bill Clinton. Lol
Oh, Skipp E ....,.............. For Gods sake, let someone else talk. Tired Ol' queen.
I also noticed a bit of Bill Clinton in Tim
CLINTONESQE
I think he looks like a young Robert Redford ,,
Great interview.
WISH MICKEY COULD FINISH WITHOUT INTERRUPTION.
Every family has a sibling who listens and one who just has to be center of a attention, usually the older ones let the younger ones do what they do best stay happy.
@@jannetlane9210 I was gonna say... This whole interview is basically me and my siblings talking at the dinner table with my older sister and my brother dominating the whole convo just like what Tim and Skippy were doing here.
This interviewer is awesome
I think the interviewer/camera people are setting this up. Why have both men on if they intend to purposely ignore one and not even have him in the shot. It would be very irritating.
He never got his kudos 💞🙏
Mickey was a great actor though. Check out the Playhouse 90, Comedian. Performed live on TV in 1957. Check out the movie Quicksand.
His boys were pretty cute ..
The boys have bad hairpieces, but their voices are authentic
why didn't someone stop the abuse of Mickey Rooney by the Jan Rooney plus the Jan Rooney boys?Mickey had his money stolen by these 3.Mickey is gone RIP . Jan Rooney is using Mickey's name on face book to make money off Mickey's name.
Vera Brown
Jan kept Mickey's children from seeing him.
Was Martin Short’s character Jiminy Glick based on Skippy
Mickey Jr was just about to tell us about his conversation with Judy Garland when his self absorbed brother cuts in with I shot pool with George Harrison? 🤦🏻♀️
Poor rich kids growing up w everything
Skip Lowe was in "Will & Grace" fairly consistently as the gay guy nemisis to the assistant to debra messing's character.
Sadly. Mickey Rooney, Jr. passed in Glendale, Arizona, on July 16, 2022...
Lowe is the worst interviewer let them speak geez
I thought Mickey Rooney Senior was disappointed by all his kids success that they didn't work hard enough, not sure if this is true or not but that is what I heard he thought of his kids was a disappointment about their success.
@1:14 THE GREAT " Buster Keaton " " Skip. E. Lowe " WHAT A PAIN IN THE ASS !! ......" Who was your favorite step-mother ?" WTF kind of question is that !
No need to put "quotes" around BK's name. D'You ever see "quotes" around Duke Ellington? Nat King Cole? Billy the Kid? etc etc
@@ivanhajncl8833 thanks for the grammar correction 😳
@@ivanhajncl8833 Buster wasn’t his birth name sir.
So what about playing pool with a Beatle....dang stop stealing the interview.
Timmy is like Mikey his dad .. he looked most like him too. Lol loved seeing both these boys and I do know one of your sisters The one who was a daughter of the mother who was killed one of the four kids from her. Amazing life all you kids have had. All of you kid's should get together and write a book with pictures. Those four kids had it the worst I believe being absent a mom.
Tim was on a bewitched episode my friend ben.1966.
Skippy, weird guy. Tim and skippy would not let Mick speak, so rude. Had to switch off
Lol. I see where Jiminy Glick started. Lol
Whoa! I just happen to be watching this on the day Hank Aaron died. 1/22/21
Honestly? Tim is prob some 1 I would've been best friends with. Running mates tearing up bar scene. Fr 21-35.
This interview guy is on drugs or had too much caffeine
Drugs
the 1980’s everyone was snorting cocaine
RIP Mickey Rooney Jr Say Hi To Mickey Rooney And Judy Garland For Me
Holy crap Timmy needs a slap
They look just like they dad
I wish the interviewer would have taken better control of things and not let Timmy monopolize the conversation. I wanted to hear Mickey Jr’s answers, not his ubiquitous mouth. Boring droning. I clicked off.
Geesh ... Tim just didn't like his brother to speak and when cut him off it was all 'we, we, we'
I'm impressed. They seem like nice men.
Who was your favorite stepmother?????
When did Tim die? I noticed in the comment it said the late Tim Rooney.
JANNET lane He died in 2006 at the age of 59; yes, on his father’s 86th birthday. COD was pneumonia, complicated by a muscle disease.
@@UserHunca
So sad...💔
Timmy let your brother talk!
Omgoosh.... Look at the competition between these brothers...
certainly shows how the younger one was very jealous of the older one for having his father's name.
Can't listen anymore....
Ugh, interviews in the 70's and 80's were abysmal.
The Rooney boys were so well balanced. Classy men.
Tim's a talker!
Is Skippy related to Andy Dick?
The guy interviewing is sooo camp.
he's repulsive as hell!
