That ending gave me goosebumps all over. The title Silent Hills may be referencing an infinite set of SH dimensions. With the popularity of Bioshock Infinite and Tel Doro/Kojima at the helm, I wouldn't be surprised if this game would incorporate some kind of multiverse angle.
To address some of the questions about the phone call, at this point we had done the infinite hall way, got all the pieces of the picture and had a couple more bits of writing appear on the screen also, the hanging fridge and gouging the picture frame were both done very early for us. We were walking around for a long time before basically giving up, we were stood at the clock for a while before the phone going off. So honestly I can't really say how to trigger the phone call as we never had a yellow screen like some are saying and everything seems to happen in a non linear order.
Yellow screen? Which are you referring to? There's the end part where it simply changes a bunch of colors, like red, green, blue, or yellow (though stops after a while, and I don't know why), or there's the part before this area where it's all yellow with random text. I saw another video in which is was red instead.
Lieutenant Enema I think the video I saw, that screen was white and black letters in different languages. That's pretty cool, sounds like no one seems to see the same demo in a sense. I wonder how the game will be. How many ways the game could go depending on how you find things maybe?
It's so weird how there are little elements of this still in Death Stranding. So happy it happened, even if poor PT died, at least we have Death Stranding.
My favorite theory is that the reason "Silent Hills" is plural is that it was planned to include online gameplay elements and cooperation between players, similar to what we got in Death Stranding. The more you think about it, this really does feel like an early prototype of the game Kojima intended to make all along. I would have loved to see what Silent Hills became, but I'm also glad we got to experience something totally original instead.
I'm going to be real here....I didn't like Death Stranding. I know, blasphemy. But I really didn't. Graphics and atmosphere was incredible by the way, even though I had almost 0 fun with it. Konami made a long term decision. The executives probably looked at the consumer data trends and saw that console games are a diminishing share of the market and decided to downsize their game development division accordingly. I suspect what happened is that Konami ordered Kojima to rush the game understaffed and then release it half-baked. Kojima refused and was fired, while Norman Reedus's contract was left to expire without an extension, thus killing the project.
This probably wouldve been my favorite game of all time, a great director taking over an amazing series with one of my favorite actors of all time as the lead, it brings me literal pain to watch this again
A dear friend of mine had no clue about this, even though we have finished previous Silent Hill games back in our teens. Anyways, I watched this vid to then send it to him. I got chills and cried like if I experienced the reveal again. Man….. this cut will never be healed
I cannot wrap my head around the fact this was almost 10 years ago now. Literally feels like a few months ago, where the fuck did all those years go? Also, the gaming sphere was on fire when this came out, then it was on firr again when it was cancelled and Kojima got fired from Konami. Then the whole Pachinko Machine thing happaned...
I'm looking forward to 2 Remake, as with Townfall & F, but I gotta say that it just still doesn't compare. 2 ( I played the 'remaster', so technically I've never played SH2 as intended) was goddamn phenomenal, even on XBox One. So imagine Silent Hills. I'm still happy to maybe get 2 Remake if I can afford it, but Silent Hills spoke to me, man. Shame it was killed. I swear if Konami reannounced it that would have been the only thing bigger than 2 Remake. I just hope it comes soon. The world still needs Silent Hills. And man, I'd pay top dollar. A man can dream. They're probably just playing safe with 2 Remake to test the waters and see if Silent Hill can survive in the modern world. Side note, I got a top 5 here for horror games. 1. Silent Hill 2 (2001) 2. Silent Hills (PT, of course.) 3. Dead Space (2008) 4. Alan Wake (2010) 5. The Suffering (1 & 2, considering 2 was basically just a more expansive first game) Honorable Mentions: Darkwatch, Undead Nightmare, Layers of Fear. Resident Evil doesn't make the cut, not because it's bad, but I can't think of a single one to decide upon. Otherwise Alan Wake wouldn't be on there, because it falls under a 'Psychological Action Thriller'. The second Alan Wake will, though. Hopefully. Evil Within also doesn't make the list, because a top 6 simply doesnt sound right. Or simply RE's reason. Thanks for reading, reader.
The speech is Hideo Kojima, telling konami how they messed up, and how he will return with new games... And the best of all he used one of the most beloved franchise to do so...
Konami was such a drag... Always making the same business deals, making the same games. Yeah, it was just that kind of company. Then one day Konami decides to screw us all - and they couldn't even be original about that. I'm not complaning, I was dying of boredom anyway. But guess what? I will be making Kojima Productions and I'll be making some new games with it.
I can't believe it has been 10 years since I played this! God, I still remember when news came out that it was canceled, and Kojima had left Konami. Crazy how fast time goes.
Here I Sit on September 4th of 2022..... This pops up on my home page and now I Am lamenting the loss of a game that will never arrive and cursing Konami for shitting for bed this hard.
Now that I think about it, I think the game was gonna be about Norman here trying to forget what his father did to his family. I think the story went: the dad shot the mother in the belly along with the baby in it, shot the daughter at point blank... and can't remember what he did to the son, but it would make sense that he survived and went to Silent Hill to deal with his demons of the past in the enbodyment of his father, who says "I'll be back with my new toys". That's just what I think but it doesn't matter because the game is never coming back. I wish someone would ask Kojima what was his vision for Silent Hills.
Is bet the things I he character norman takes on are way things like trauma, depression, ptsd, maybe even more than I could think of, I only discovered this game now but holy smokes, even now I'm pretty upset to vent if I never played a konami game ever. Konami really screwed up, they weren't thinking how good of an investment of a game silent hills was, I'm going a bit far but it would've sold more than either 1 or 2 mil units, charge the game at a reasonable 60 usd, and you've just saved you damn business, but no konami wanted to stick to the lunacy which is that dragon game which was full of little price tags. Hopefully Kojima will outsmart Konami, and they will learn the lesson to not play a wrong move on the board like that ever again.
That playable teaser show how scary this game could have been. Its not easy to make such a nightmare only from a fucking apartment... imagine how scary would have been the main game considering it had all silent hill map to work on
"Dad was such a *drag.* Every day he'd eat the same kind of food, dress the same, sit in front of the same kind of games..." "Yeah, he was just *that kind of guy.* But then one day, he goes and *kills us all!* He couldn't even be original about *the way he did it."* "I'm not complaining... *I was dying of boredom anyway."* "But guess what? I WILL be coming back..." *"And I'm bringing my new toys with me..."*
Look at all these people whining and moaning about it not being scary, del Toro's involvement, or it being too repetitive. I think this excerpt from a Vulturebeat article on the subject can provide a proper response. "It was the final Reedus reveal that caused people to change the way they were playing the teaser and and was ultimately what hurt the brilliant advertisement. After discovering the Reedus ending, it was only natural that players wanted to see it for themselves. Dialing it into RUclips wasn’t enough, though. They wanted to feel the “I beat this obtuse puzzle - I’m so clever” feeling. As such, people began to see the teaser as a game to be beaten, not an atmosphere to be explored and terrified by. The goal became to achieve what could be looked at as the “win state” of the teaser. But that’s not what this demo is trying to be. The puzzles become arbitrary pixel hunts and are eventually based on chance. People say that this makes P.T. bad - that it makes it boring and not scary anymore. Of course, you’re going to become bored and immune to the scares if you run in circles for hours. The point was never to make a game you were supposed to “win.” P.T. was an opportunity to show that the franchise is in good hands. Horror hounds and Silent Hill fans could rest easy knowing that the new talent clearly understands what it takes to be truly terrifying - and that the franchise is ready for revival. This teaser reminds us that the scariest things are the things you don’t see or completely understand - the ominous thumping upstairs, or the radio static telling you to turn around when you’ve been standing still for too long. Being afraid to round a corner or open a door are the things that made the golden era of Silent Hill so incredible and are precisely what have been lost from recent installments. Getting caught up on beating this interactive teaser is like dwelling on beating a quick-time event. Yes, you could do it, but that’s not the point. People dissecting the systems and getting angry that they can’t overcome what they weren’t meant to in the first place is what is ruining their experiences. Just play P.T. (or, more realistically, watch someone else play P.T.) - and try to enjoy being scared for a little while."
Hideo Kojima eh? And I thought Silent Hill storylines were messed up and complicated before lol. At least one of the Saints is in it. Should be an awesome game.
It's probably meaning none what was featured in the teaser like gameplay or even that entire house is going to be in the game. They probably put it there to let the fans know it's not just going to be a loop in one area.
This could have been one of the greatest horror games ever made
nah it looks like a doritos hotel game

1. Silent Hill 2 (2001)
2. Silent Hills (PT, of course.)
3. Dead Space (2008)
4. Alan Wake (2010)
5. The Suffering (1 & 2, considering 2 was basically just a more expansive first game)
Honorable Mentions: Darkwatch, Undead Nightmare, Layers of Fear.
📻 "I WILL be coming Back"
The speech is Hideo Kojima, telling konami how they messed up, and how he will return with new games...
@@Mitchincredible must read with the xfiles music in the back...
Anyone still come back to these silent hill pt videos?
5.56x45mm: Me, all the time
Holy shit! Norman fucking Reedus is starring in Silent Hills?! Damn just imagine how scary it will be when the game is complete...
Might be coming back 🎉
I can't believe it has been 10 years since I played this! God, I still remember when news came out that it was canceled, and Kojima had left Konami. Crazy how fast time goes.
Dam, would've been a great game. Even fucking Daryl Dixon was in it
listening, hear them calling to me from another plane of existence
This is the greatest reveal of Gamescom so far for me.
Here I Sit on September 4th of 2022..... This pops up on my home page and now I Am lamenting the loss of a game that will never arrive and cursing Konami for shitting for bed this hard.
Biggest tragedy in gaming since ET for Atari
It's been about 8 years now and I'm still not over this. Such a shame.
I nearly pissed myself playing this NO JOKE
Yo the fact that the death stranding teaser came out all the way back in 2014 is nuts
Ikr
If this new game doesn't end with a dog controlling the place the whole time I will be very upset
LOLOLOL
this game ends here, cancellation
don't worry the dog control...but the only problem is NO GAME
Konami is run by a dog probably
Damn this comment was before it was canceled 😔
Still sad about never getting to see the whole game they had planned.
The way they cut the music was really sad 3:41
The greatest game never made.
DERYL!!!!??? WOW.... I'd say he's having Quite a year, Walking dead then accidentally stumbled into Silent Hill...
IT STILL HURTS
Still gives me goosebumps. Curse you, Konami.
It's a piece of art. Simply the most impressive piece of marketing ever to be.
man i rather have this than death stranding i hope when kojima finish ds he make one horror game at this level
hopefully
That playable teaser show how scary this game could have been. Its not easy to make such a nightmare only from a fucking apartment... imagine how scary would have been the main game considering it had all silent hill map to work on
a masterpiece we will never see
I love how the music fade in 3:40
Start playing Yes's Roundabout at 2:38
Ayyyyyyy...we got a JoJo fan here!
The game we never got...
"Dad was such a *drag.*
Every day he'd eat the same kind of food, dress the same, sit in front of the same kind of games..."
"Yeah, he was just *that kind of guy.*
But then one day, he goes and *kills us all!*
He couldn't even be original about *the way he did it."*
"I'm not complaining... *I was dying of boredom anyway."*
"But guess what? I WILL be coming back..."
*"And I'm bringing my new toys with me..."*
All these years later and I'm still mad. This game and Versus XIII will forever live on as what the big what could've beens.
I will literally never forgive Konami. They will never get another cent of my money.
Kojima AND Del Torro??!! Silent Hill is coming back, baby!! WOO!!
It’s been 9 years, almost 10, and I’m still pissed that this game wasn’t made and we got death stranding instead. Truly the worst timeline
The music never fails to give me goosebumps
Hey, Tondre. We should catch up sometime.
Tondra
Yeah, I'm down for that.
Okay. Well, do you have Messenger? My phone is currently off..... :P
Silent hills the greatest game that was never released
Hideo Kojima eh? And I thought Silent Hill storylines were messed up and complicated before lol. At least one of the Saints is in it. Should be an awesome game.
2022.
I got a letter.
The name on it said, silent hill
But that’s impossible. Silent hill died of that damn corporate shenanigan years ago…
What they meant with "It has no direct relation to main title"?
It's probably meaning none what was featured in the teaser like gameplay or even that entire house is going to be in the game. They probably put it there to let the fans know it's not just going to be a loop in one area.
***** I think you're right, thank you!
probably just a test run with the engine and gameplay they will be using. Cant wait to get my hands on this game though.
@Fukonami Damn....still hurts we will never get this game. Smh.
I have a feeling this will be awesome.
Yooo cant wait for this to drop
