- After many long years, the classic psychological horror franchise Silent Hill is finally back with Silent Hill f. Silent Hill f is the first original Silent Hill sequel in years. In the trailer we see odd blood vines, and a Japanese Torii gate. The blood blossoms around a girl to reveal what looks like a creepy inner disease. Silent Hill f is written by Ryukishi07, creature & character design from kera, and produced by Motoi Okamoto. Silent Hill f has yet to receive a release date.

For anyone wondering the flowers shown growing out of the pours of those dead bodies are Lycoris Radiata, or Red Spider Lily’s. Which symbolizes death, final goodbyes, abandonment and bad luck.

I love the end how her face falls off giving a Shintaro Kago look to it. I absolutely love that people are putting alot more unsettling/semi disturbing artistic asspects in games now.

@@uraszz Yes. 2 of their visual novels (Higurashi and Umineko) are top notch in terms of narrative. Higurashi in particular is literally longer than the bible lol.

Ryukishi07 is the creator of the 'When They Cry' series, including Higurashi no Naku Koro ni, which the trailer really reminded me of before I saw his name. 'Silent Hill f' looks the most promising of the upcoming games...

@@spritsfal5088 I think the Siren series would be a great place to see a Japanese-Western game work. Siren started Japanese and switched to Western on the third installment. It kept most of the original elements but reworked the cast and monsters into an American lens. It's also made by people from the original Silent team!
I think a Japanese SH could actually do very well the same thing. Not to mention the original SH was made by Japanese people in a Western setting. I personally think they could still retain the western SH feel even if they did add in Japanese elements.

@@Grom-rl8bm Whether the gameplay is good or not is still be to be seen but the story is guaranteed to be one of the best in all of horror; it's being written by Ryushiki07 who has written some of the best VNs ever made. Of course I am hella biased for this guy so honestly I could just be blinded by stardom.
Put gameplay and officially released stuff aside, talk about creativity, this is the creepiest thing I've seen recently and it's not a movie or a show, but relating to the video game industry. They may or may not release the game, but it does put other creators to push their horror game ideas.

This strongly resembles Siren game series, creator of which split from Team Silent after completing original Silent Hill. If anyone remembers SH1 used siren alarm to mark the shift to underworld. That idea moved completely to Siren series. Also, 1st and 3rd Siren games took place in Japanese village, main characters of the first were students on a school project. What they witnessed were people around them turning into insects and swarms which is pretty close tie to flowers.
Sorry, im not familiar with the siren series, what are the second and third games called? I thought there was only 1.

I’ll never forget being young (arguably too young) and stumbling across the siren games. Those faces and settings are burned into my brain

And ascension, they set up world building for the cult and the sadako/babayaga figure.essentially the silent hill reality is hitting critical mass with negative energy and pretty soon like in stephen king's the mist is about to flood our reality. Not sure if the red god is the witch or not

When I heard ryukishi07 was going to be the one writing this I literally freaked out, The higurashi and umineko they cry series is so wonderfully written and has a lot of mystery and good horror elements to it where I literally can’t wait for this game to come out.
When SH and The writer of Higurashi no naka Koro ni join together on a same game. You know this will be something awesome ❤️

Ryukishi07 is a writer for When They Cry, one of the most traumatic horror anime/novel you can watch/read. So this might have a potential to be good.
higurashi wasn't THAT traumatizing. watched it when i was 11, played when i was 12, and im reading the manga now

Very excited for this one especially since Ryukishi07 is on board. That was a good hire from Konami to say the least.
silent hill in a japanese setting? dude, thats their home play. they already brought some of the scary japanese superstitions and lores into the first games (toilets in sh1 and sh2 for example). imagine now that gets cranked up to 11. also, loving the unique setting and theme. those flowers are as beautiful as they are deadly. and then the sh1 theme at the end played with tradional japanese instruments. just bravo konami, youre finally on a good track. next step is to finally get silent hills done
Yeah, it looks and sounds interesting but why call this Silent Hill when it's obviously not taking place in Silent Hill or near it? The town itself is a character and crucial for a SH game. Maybe there is a way to teleport you to SH similar to "The Room" but other than that this doesn't make sense. Rather give it a new name and create a new IP when it has nothing to do with the town. But of course the name brings more money even when it makes no sense.
Don't get me wrong I like the setting and the visuals of this trailer but this has nothing in common with Silent Hill. Really nothing! Just like Metal Gear Survive has nothing in common with Metal Gear Solid. It only shows that the people in charge at Konami don't have any clue about their franchises. They just want to make as much money as possible. The pachinko machines and mobile games are the best example for that.
4 new games at once sounds to me like Konami didn't learn from their mistakes they did after the original 3 games. Pushing the franchise in directions that don't make sense and potentially lower the quality. Let's see if besides the remake any of the others will be something decent. I'm particularly really skeptical about the online game.

It’s been awhile since I played the games but I played through most of them and I’m pretty sure it’s mainly the people in silent hill who made it turn so evil. Especially the order trying to incarnate their “god”. Which means there could easily be other places like silent hill. In a way this could be an origin story to silent hill. I really don’t see it taking place in Japan as a big deal or even as a money grab. Coming from someone who has strongly disliked Konami since they effed over kojima.

Here’s hoping they do well. Silent hill is at its best when the monsters and word are themed off the characters past and trauma. Stepping away from the old look is a good sign and I cannot wait to see more.
Though i do wonder if it will be connected to the other games at all or will basically be its own thing
I enjoy the cult aspect more so from the first and third game as opposed to the second. Makes the actual town feel more authentic and not so much a fever dream

I love the inclusion of the note forte in music and title. It really brings meaning as to what is going on in the trailer. The girl turning into the flower is only the beginning of her excel into power.

Dude Konami is making 4 silent hill games (well rather commissioning 4 teams round the world to do it) this is in development right now. However, this is also all we know about it. They are also making a movie based on the second game

I come back to this once in a while. Just so much that i love about it. Its going back to the Silent Hill roots of being disturbing rather than "just scary". And a Japan rather than Western take. Thats where in wondering where the Silent Hill comes in.
But either ways, if this comes to fruition i hope it comes back in a crazy way.

I like the idea of a Silent Hill story taking place in another country. I'd have to image the Otherworld is everywhere (and nowhere) and not just in Silent Hill.
A while back, I had an idea about a guy traveling to his family's ancestral homestead in Wales only to discover the town, Bryn Tawel, was just like Silent Hill.
So might as well set the next Silent Hill in Han Dynasty era of China. Where does this ridiculousness end?
This concept was already well established since Silent Hill 3 though? As the Otherworld is present even though (half of) the game does not take place in Silent Hill, or Silent Hill 4, which doesn't take place in Silent Hill at all.
Turns out that the real Silent Hill, are the friends we made along the way.
@@lauson1ex i always feel it was Alessa and Walter's powers that turns the setting into the Otherworld. Regardless, the games had very strong ties and even played in Silent Hill in certain parts of the game. The town itself is the biggest character for the plot. In this new one, it looks to have nothing to do with the town and it would make no sense to either. Therefore it's not Silent Hill. Forbidden Siren is technically Silent Hill in terms of its atmosphere, multi dimension, and plot(religious cults reviving their god). Yet it isn't Silent Hill. It stood on its own. This new one feels like a money grab. Instead of being its own, it slaps the SH label on.
If they wanted to go back into history, why not do what was already a part of Silent Hill history? Why not make one based on the Native Americans that inhabited the land before it was Silent Hill and explain its origins? Instead we get a Fatal Frame Siren with SH label.

@@hangguy209 Why can't the same events that happened in Silent Hill (supernatural native american burial grounds) also have happened in a small town in Japan of all places, which is rich in occult and supernatural folklore? Alessa can't possibly have been the only supernatural child in the world. If anything, this is the freshest idea they ever had for Silent Hill and I'm glad they're rising the stakes and expanding its universe. Japan and Central America are the places that make the most sense.

Was impressed from the start with the visuals and style but when those hands had holes in them, genuinely gave me goosebumps which no other horror franchise has done to me, I honestly hope this game will come out and be amazing!!!!!

It's nice to see the series back and trying something NEW. What this series needs as well as a comeback is a breath of fresh air to it. I'm far more optimistic about this than I am for the SH2 remake (which wasn't really necessary), but then again; KONAMI....

The music featured in this REALLY reminds me of the music used by another VN producer called Innocent Grey famous for their Kara No Shoujo series of VN and specifically the composer MANYO who works with them.
Does anybody know if MANYO is involved in this? Normally I'd say it's absurd but if they're bringing Ryukishi07 onboard it's possible and MANYO does the classiest OST's in the VN industry.

@@Oenizei Cult storylines are so uninteresting. That's why SH2 deviated from it.
How much of a story can you tell about a cult? It's very cut and dry there's nothing to it.

But I definitely love this take so far, but then again I'm a fan of Japanese Horror themes.
At first I didn't think it looked good but after I saw the flesh plants that look like grasping hands it really started to grow on me and gripped my attention.
This commercial has me excited. The execution reminds me of Junji Ito's Uzumaki. There's an ordinary setting with an ominous atmosphere occupied by a menacing and sinister force. It also reminds me of an episode of Yamishibai, now that I think of it.

I'm optimistic about this, but I'm also very anxious to see how this connects to the actual town of Silent Hill and the main lore. Even Silent Hill 4 had sections set in the actual town, whereas f seems to be set in Japan.
In Japan, there is a place called Silent Hill.
Shizuoka Prefecture is written in kanji as 静岡, which literally means Silent Hill.
