It sucks that this game died. It really could have been amazing. Could you imagine how terrifying it would be if there had been some creature models left in the map and they could respond to you just floating around out there? It's pretty cool that there was programming to react to a player getting out of the main looping hallway map. That scared the shit out me.
Creature models couldn't be left around the map, since the map lacks basic Physical simulations, such as Collision (Detection and Response) and TOIs. The floor doesn't have any axis aligned surface, so, a ragdoll physics-based model would just fall indefinitely into the abyss. But, although fairly rare nowadays, the game could store a few of the models preloaded as Mipmapping out of bounds in the map, for faster RAM recall. You could float around everywhere with collision set to off and free camera. You might get lucky, and find something else.
@@CodexSan Oh thanks. Derrrr. I hadn't considered the lack of collision physics. I'm just still blown away that by changing some code he was able to see and explore the map and show it. Dang cool.

Idk about the best horror game ever made. I bet if it fully released, some Silent Hill fans would find holes to poke through it because of plot issues with the original games and some would say best game.
since kojima productions and sony are friends now, and team siren still exists internally within sony, i hope toyama and kojima corroborate on a new forbidden siren game! toyama created silent hill, and kojima has tweeted about his interest in making horror, so my fingers are crossed.
@@lilithaensland5566 no? team siren (now team gravity? they are the guys doing gravity daze) is founded by the original director of SH1, but most team silent remained in konami... some of the people worked on MGS4, some people from team silent did founded the team behind Rule of Roses. mind you that Toyama have VERY DIFFERENT ideas on what Silent Hill is, probably even from the original sequels...
I always found the ending cutscene incredibly well done, everything from the lack of music until the stinger, to the echoing steps of Norman Reedus' shoes against the road and the general feeling of isolation you get as you watch him calmly soldier on down the street, towards some unknown adventure. Even little details like some of the street lamps and bedroom lights still being on despite the obvious abandonment really added to the atmosphere. The street itself looks rather nice and serene, yet you know something is coming. I was so enamoured with it when I first saw it that I even imagined myself walking down that same road. The only thing I can really liken it to is Frank Darabont's 'The Mist' (quite appropriately). Watching this briefly brought back that feeling for me. Hell, for a few moments, I was able to suspend my disbelief and it almost made me feel like I was watching a new Silent Hill game.
Quite appropriately is right! Still mad about the Mist. I mean, I understand Everything revolves around money, but I still don't get it. How can you start something and not finish? I'M MAD I TELL YOU
I knew there would be no scares in this cut area, but it's frightening all the same. I would love a new atmospheric SH like this...What a work of art! Thank you for sharing it with us Lance, and for all your hard work!
Knowing Kojima, I wouldn't be surprised if he hid something scary in inaccessible areas even though he could never predict the game being cracked like this.
It was like an episode of one of those ghost hunting "reality" shows. You know nothing real is ever gonna happen, but the spoopy music and atmosphere makes you feel like it might.
@@TheJayson8899 I think they were saying that this is what silent hill was all about, and "screw konami for not letting it happen" Edit: Nevermind, you were replying to someone else and I'm just an idiot. Which is more than can be said for some pieces of work.
The Lisa death animation jumpscared me, even though you did mention that she was going to show up. Dammit. I feel like this area was meant to be part of the full game. Maybe they were in the process of making a location in the game and decided to stick it into the demo. There's a lot of detail to this and it sucks that all their work went to waste. :/
This is typical in game development. You put a lot effort into something and then only a small part of it will be viewable / accessable to the player. A lot stays behind closed doors or will never be reached without leaving the boundary.
Actually Kojima is working on creating "the scariest horror game", he said in a tweet. He's watching dozen of horror movies to "awaken his horror soul", and maybe get the inspiration for a new game
This is why its the only horror game i wish i could go out of my way to play. Yes lisa did the jump scare shit but i have a feeling this game wouldve been more atmospheric in its terror
In a very weird way, this, final rendition of Silent Hill is really a fitting end to Silent Hill. A desolated, abandoned, foggy, eerie town. Where there was never any monsters. The only real monster was always you, wandering alone with your thoughts, guilt, and mental baggage. That's why you always saw what you wanted to see. That's how it always was, and that's how it ended. Just an empty town , stuck in a void, where the lost souls we met in the games went to face their worst enemy, their own mind.
To this day, I am still unbelievably upset over this! There was so much potential, the story would of been amazing and I'm sure later parts of the game would of been absolute nightmare fuel. We could of gone back to that town...Silent Hill...but now, we'll never beable to go there... Also thank you for the amazing video, I'm very happy people are still looking into the demo and finding more secrets and such~^^

Don't worry. Kojima's been teasing on Twitter that his next project is going to be a full-fledged horror game. I know it won't be Silent Hills, but he'll probably get a chance to show off all the unused/unseen scares and atmosphere from it.
@@Caffeinated-DaVinci Which is nice and all, but for those of us hoping for another entry into the SILENT HILL franchise that doesn't fail to capture the things that made it great, it doesn't help much... @@Adam-cj2jg Because it's a shame this project got canned and wiped from existence except for the lucky ones that still have it un-updated on their consoles. P.T was just a demo, and yet it revitalised the horror genre as a whole near single-handedly. The amount of untapped and wasted potential in this project is insane.
not a demo tho, a "playable teaser": a demo is normally something taken from a game mid or late production, slapped into a "complete experience" and released. this means you can find a TON of stuff into demos and alphas/betas (that are like "production demo" to test what is done). for example the original "F.E.A.R" demo was 3 parts of 3 different levels adapted into one. but this is a "playable teaser", that kinda is very rare, and of course they maybe put pre-production stuff in it, but it could very well be all original assets made for the teaser... I mean, asset speaking the only 2 very complex things in PT are Lisa and the main character's models...
1r0zz good point, I’ve never really thought about the difference between a demo and PT, but the way you describe it makes a lot of sense. I guess that means in a PT there’s a lot more that’s subject to change
@@weekenddrew3330 gameplay wise PT was never representing the game or it's systems... kojima said this MANY times. hell, I do not even think Itou designed Lisa (surely does not look like it as there is no body horror nor humor), it's probably the best design of the easiest monster for a fast project. by watching at the assets of this video I'd say few assets looks placeholder/early production assets and the majority are just made for the PT and would not be used for the full game.
"Playable Teaser" is a marketing buzzword, chief. Calm down. You dont need to define a new term every time a creator does something slightly different from the norm.

@Bk Blindside Honestly, Konami doesn’t give a shit about RE’s recent successes. Their profits have risen since they kicked Kojima to the curb, as they continue to invest in low budget projects and reap high rewards off microtransactions and their shitty pachinko machines.
@@UndertakerU2ber that's cause Kojima would use way too much money for his projects, sadly. He blew funding on a couple projects, especially MGSV. Now whether this is cause Konami gave him a low budget or Kojima was a little TOO creative, I'm not sure of.
So, if this is the area the cutscene plays in, and the cutscene is actually a fully rendered in game event, now that you can do this what are the odds you could trigger it while out there and perhaps get us a new view or angle? This just makes me even sadder that Silent Hills never became a reality. Kojima clearly loved SH2 and was paying tribute to it in numerous visual elements in this build- the apartment building exteriors, the trail of blood so reminiscent of the one James follows to the place where he encounters the first monster in SH2. What a missed opportunity.
@DoomerCritic HAHAHAH good joke man, Kojima ruined Konami, by wasting money on doing things then scrapping them, that's what happened on MGS 5, having to cut the game due to lack of funds. Its kind of impossible for a dark game to have an audience. And on top of that, it was intentionally killed by Konami. Truly Sad and Depressing. :'(
I mean, If you compared this to Capcom did with Inafune, From the original vision of Mega Man X5 segues the X series into the Zero series before he was forced to change it, after Capcom made Mega Man X6 as a complete cash grab follow up to X5 to Cancelled five games related to Mega Man (4 were already known by the masses, while the fifth was shown nine years afterwards, it was sequel to Mega Man star force 3). & it shows. (I should note that in my opinion, i like the idea of a sugues from the X to zero series and it would awesome if Capcom brought back did the Inafune version as a AU timeline with X turning himsef into a genocide maverick himself becoming what Zero was, with Zero facing the real X twice, Once with his real self as and another as a copy in an alternate Zero 3 timeline) But at least the acceptation of Mega Man Univerese's cancellation, Protodude of RockMan Corner is digging up info and recovering new bits and pieces regrading Mega Man Universe nearly 6 years after it was cancelled and I'm looking into the real reason on why it was cancelled + the Wii and IOS ports that the game was going to have. The way, Konami treated those people shows that people should stand up from the abuse, quit their job ASAP and search for better things in life.
It sad to think that this is as far the progression of this project will probably ever go, but this was really cool to see how much they've done to what is left of the game. There's just so much to see!! Awesome video!
For some weird reason, whenever i see these boundary break videos i get this uneasy feeling of fear and loneliness,as if i was actually a video game character and seeing this i realise I'm living a lie...like Truman show Edit:well after all the responses I've received I'm kinda relieved there's so many people who feel the same way.i couldn't explain efficiently what I felt-this weird, uneasy feeling- and i why but i was sure i am the only one!

That's why Coraline was so scary for me. The "other" world is just her house and a forest. That's all, and you know it ends there, there's nothing else more than what you see there. I love that feeling.
I heard somewhere that Kojima was actually talking about the game with Junji Ito and well if you know a little about him, then you know things could have been really spooky. Just imagine them Guillermo del Toro, Kojima and Junji Ito. At last, we can still dream.
What would be nice is to have kojima buy the rights to silent hills from Konami seeing as they don't appear to want to make any new games in the series
I think this game being canceled is the biggest and most heart breaking thing in video game history for me personally. Silent hill has always held a special place in my heart when it comes to gaming, this video was very cool and I appreciate the work you put into getting outside of the play area possible. Hopefully this video gets well over 1 million views so it is noticed by all who started work on the game and maybe there will be a light of hope for this amazing franchise yet!
AGREED! :) Also, finally when vr tech has come out. What a shame. Playing SH in vr would've been epic. As for SH, I loved the first 3 games and the soundtracks. I personally think Konami is stupid for not perusing development on more SH games because, as you said... there IS huge demand. I know there was drama within the company as for "why" it was cancelled, but SH is the best. I'll forever be sad if it's not brought back. Nothing even comes close in the horror gaming industry as SH. Resident Evil 7 was a close competitor, but it still wasn't the same.
There are ways to "legally" redownload it through use of changing your home network into a VPN and connecting directly into the Playstation Network to download the file from their archive.

Just Some Dude On The Internet ikr?

The amount of untapped and wasted potential in this project is insane.
It was a good game. What a rotten way to die.
I wonder how much more is there to see in that one demo.
Not much
not a demo tho, a "playable teaser":
a demo is normally something taken from a game mid or late production, slapped into a "complete experience" and released. this means you can find a TON of stuff into demos and alphas/betas (that are like "production demo" to test what is done). for example the original "F.E.A.R" demo was 3 parts of 3 different levels adapted into one.
but this is a "playable teaser", that kinda is very rare, and of course they maybe put pre-production stuff in it, but it could very well be all original assets made for the teaser...
@@weekenddrew3330
gameplay wise PT was never representing the game or it's systems... kojima said this MANY times. hell, I do not even think Itou designed Lisa (surely does not look like it as there is no body horror nor humor), it's probably the best design of the easiest monster for a fast project.
by watching at the assets of this video I'd say few assets looks placeholder/early production assets and the majority are just made for the PT and would not be used for the full game.
"Playable Teaser" is a marketing buzzword, chief. Calm down. You dont need to define a new term every time a creator does something slightly different from the norm.

& it shows.
(I should note that in my opinion, i like the idea of a sugues from the X to zero series and it would awesome if Capcom brought back did the Inafune version as a AU timeline with X turning himsef into a genocide maverick himself becoming what Zero was, with Zero facing the real X twice, Once with his real self as and another as a copy in an alternate Zero 3 timeline)
But at least the acceptation of Mega Man Univerese's cancellation, Protodude of RockMan Corner is digging up info and recovering new bits and pieces regrading Mega Man Universe nearly 6 years after it was cancelled and I'm looking into the real reason on why it was cancelled + the Wii and IOS ports that the game was going to have.

If you carefully look in 3:02, you can see that there's nothing behind.
May we take a moment of silence for the masterpiece we lost
The potted plant it watching you
Foreshadowing the final boss I bet would've been an epic battle
It's Alllllways watching you...
Imagine if instead of the plant, it was Lisa watching you...
@@GioGR F that!
Triffids confirmed?
Deleting this game was a mistake. Thanks for the content!
I never got to play it, I feel your pain.
There are ways to "legally" redownload it through use of changing your home network into a VPN and connecting directly into the Playstation Network to download the file from their archive.
I used this guide and redownloaded it for Halloween this year. www.eurogamer.net/articles/2016-04-18-theres-a-slightly-fiddly-way-to-re-download-p-t
@@KagatoAsuka yeah but doesn't do much good if you did not have it yet. I literally bought my PS4 because it had this demo on it. LoL
@@oldhunterraziel5327 That is true but for those who have it saved on their account and did have it in the past they can use that to redownload it like the person who made this post or myself. Hell I even redownloaded it on a completely new PS4 because I originally had it before the PS4 Pro and now its on my Pro.
This is absolutely amazing.
Your technical skills are beyond me, so kudos for that.
But to explore this area, it’s so bizarre, like trying to lucid dream, as though examining it too closely will cause it to fall apart.
Stunning
Release this video december 20th make it the most unexpected christmas gift ever !!!
Thank you so so much for this surprise walk in Silent Hills.
Wow, I suspected that last scene may have been in engine, but to be honest I was a little bit skeptical because it looked so insanely good. Very well done! Now I'm sad again that we'll never see this game come to pass. I've heard Kojima is interested in making a horror title next and potentially working with VR in the future so even if it doesn't have the silent hill name I know whatever gets made will be mind bending and terrifying!
Thank you so much for finding this and making such an awesome video about it. What a fascinating dive into something we never thought possible to explore. So cool to see how much atmosphere and stunning detail was put into this game, even just for a cutscene!! All the little details like the apartment windows and the textures on the road, the bloom effect on the lights... man... you can really see the beginnings of what probably would've been an amazing game. It's such a shame to see what could have been with Silent Hills. It's cool to see something that Konami doesn't want us to see all these years later!
So excited for this! Thank you for all your work
Man, even when nothing happened, this game is *reallllyyyyyyy* scary. The music plus creepy town at night aesthetic got me real spooked D:
I wished this was real, damn you Konami...
they also too scared to let the team finish it
@@dan_noo it's because to them Kojima asked too much money for his works, that's why Hideo has his own studio now
Be careful what you wish for
Even if they still have most of the old kojipro, it was impossible to finish Silent Hills, why? because absolutely nothing of the game was done beside PT. even Junji Ito confirmed no concept arts were even done.
another SH game was canceled before PT, a SH5, canceled in a latter state, but no one talk about it because there was no Kojima....hypocrites...
I wish my dead friend could see this. He would love it. He was the one who showed me P.T and made me exited for horror games.
I’m so sorry for your loss
Just know that as long you still remember him he’s never truly gone 🖤
Best Christmas present. I feel like I finally have some closure on this thing I’ve obsessed over for years, thanks for all your hard work!
Closure? I find this teases the actual game even harder than the playable demo itself. I'm now even more pissed off at what happened to this project.
finally i've got to see a beautifully high graphical version of silent hill in action thanks to you. thank you so much!
More discoveries of Silent Hills = more hatred for Konami as a whole
The potted plants are a metaphor for how blooming mad I am that Silent Hills was cancelled.
*Hahahaha!!!!*
*Underrated Comment!!!!*
I also love how, even after what, 5 years? This game has secrets constantly being discovered. I wonder if the school from the other trailer is in there somewhere
Wait I just thought of this, if Lisa is always pinned to the character, shouldn’t she be behind me during this entire time 💀
Yep, somepeople have modded it into 3rd person. She is in fact behind you the entire time
That bitch is scary ngl
I'm shocked the ending cinematic is done all in real time. I thought it was just a hi resolution cutscene 👀
kojima known to that he always use in game engine for his cut scenes
