Ajinkya Tarodekar Lol Really?? The voice on the radio mentioned that the wife who was shot in the stomach was pregnant at the time. The sink fetus is a representation of the unborn baby.
That hallway lisa find is WILD! I never knew about that. My guess is that an animator had made a suite of anims for Lisa for Level Design to play with (animators sometimes have LOTS of free time in projects like this), and whoever was in charge of that sequence probably used the animation to properly sync the footsteps in a believable way, and I'd guess the easiest way in-engine to get footsteps like that to work is to tie it to a character's animations (which is why it's not animated any further than that, similar to how some video games will "cheat" and use characters for things they aren't normally used for, like a train)
Is it possible to capture footage of Lisa when you turn around and she kills you? I'm curious to see that whole sequence play out from a 3rd person perspective.
7:51 the way this is animated with her actually walking looking so real is honestly terrifying, Crazy they out that effort in but never wanted it to be seen
It’s still dripping with atmosphere and dredd , whoever made the final decision on binning this game shouldn’t ever be near an executive decision ever again .
That's a good majority of game executives, sadly. The sad truth is that many a game never see the light of day. Days, months, and even years of work and love are being constantly thrown into the trash within the game industry.
The top people of the gaming industry are all suit wearing 50-something year old men who don't give a shit about games, they just want a super popular game that sells well, they didn't see potential in this because how could they.
Her being actually behind us is very terrifying. The game developers could have simply just programmed the shadow and her breathing noises to happen and not actually have Lisa's behind us. However, they went above and beyond to actually put her behind us. That is dedication to their craft.
I thought it was weird they actually animated Lisa outside the bathroom even though the player can't see it but I think they did it so the sound design would feel more authentic. They wanted to get a good idea of her gait, how many steps it would take to get from the door to the bathroom. That's a really cool level of attention to detail.
Her walking is the creepiest thing I’ve seen in the game. Her other movements are glitchy to a degree. But her walking normally as she can is real creepy. And you don’t even get to actually see it in the game. Or the headless Lisa in the bathtub, that part would have been the scariest if they had left it in the game.
One thing I really appreciate about PT is how well the lighting works. It's one of the few games I've seen that actually understands how flashlights work, that while the light is brightest in the center of the beam, a large area around the light is still softly illuminated--it doesn't just turn your camera view into a circle in the middle of your screen. And all the lighting in the game is amazing, just a bit on the harsh end of realistic, to add to the creeping horror of the situation. The glow of a table lamp fades just a little too quickly from its source, the light hanging in the entryway has you straining to see just a little further down the hall... Every bit of this teaser was a masterpiece and I wish dearly that we'd gotten a full game.
@@SurrealiamPrime Which is so incredibly bizarre. I don't know that I've ever seen such long lasting and intense demand for a game as there is for a new Silent Hills from Kojima. Were Konami to actually let it happen, they'd make so much damn money and likely get a lot of public support again. It just doesn't make sense.
Even if it was true, Hideo Kojima doesnt want to do anymore of his old franchise stuff. He wants to move past Silent Hill and Metal Gear. I dont blame him because Konami really fucked him over ruining his own stories and creations at the very end... Metal Gear 5
The walking in the hallway was done to make sure the heel click was triggering in the proper locations, rather than just guessing at it. I think that shows good attention to detail and realism.
What about when Lisa appears outside, in the first window you see at the end of the first hallway? It's my favorite jump scare in the game and tons of people miss it completely.
God, the light in the hall casting the shadow of Lisa is so spooky and subtle - I know lots of folks who had no idea it was there. This demo was like a masterclass in horror gaming done right. Thanks so much for all your exploration into it!
Your discoveries have really changed the way I view the game - I never got to play it myself but have watched several let's plays of it and it always felt to me like Lisa was a villain, just one of the many specters haunting this house and/or the protagonist, and that the house itself was a villanous, alive entity as well. Seeing just how much Lisa is actually *doing*, walking, following the protagonist, physically closing and opening doors etc., made me view Lisa not as just another incidental evil spirit but as someone so hell bent on getting revenge and/or justice that she causes all the shit that happens in that house to occur. Like she's the protagonist, in a way. Which made the game even more memorable than it already was. Idk I don't really know how to phrase what I'm thinking but I just wanted to leave a comment to tell you how much your P.T. videos impacted my feelings about the game.
Lisa hanging out everywhere? Wow, don't like that. This is absolutely incredible, it's so hard to believe that this was all created even though it would never have actually been seen by players.
There is something very scary to get to see what Lisa was really doing while we were playing but couldn't see. I can't imagine the goosebumps you probably got finding her walking like this as we could only hear her before 😱 It's like finding hidden home ghost activities ! And now when we will replay it, we will know for sure she's coming at the door with that creepy walk 😱
You're work is amazing, dude. From any perspective it's nothing but comprehending how modeling, rigging and animating works as well as fiction and camera setting it's incredible to see someone not only developing this but someone going through with uncovering this detail. Thank you for working on this while showing us how developers put effort into this seemingly simple stuff which is actually extremely complicated.
I'm so intrigued that after all this time, we're still finding out things about it. Thank you so much for all your work analyzing and picking apart this demo.
7:50 That is the coolest shit ever that you can never see. This would make a great background animation, walking around places spooking your exploration. Also I never realized that she only has one high heel.
This game getting cancelled and P.T. being removed from the marketplace are both absolute fucking tragedies. It's such a shame no greater project will ever come from this teaser, and it sucks even more that the teaser itself can never be played again unless you have it on your PS4 already or buy a ridiculously expensive one that has it installed. Still, thanks to you we have at least some more content to experience from it.
At 9:00 when watching Lisa walk (limp?) down the hallway, the way she's holding her arms suggests she's either favoring a leg or is meant to be using a cane. It makes me think that she's using an animation that was created with someone else in mind that they attached to her just to time out the footstep sounds. Possibly a character that was cut or was meant to be in the full game and someone had done some work on them already? I dunno, I just love to speculate on a 30 minute demo from 5 years ago, it's absolutely amazing how much work and detail is packed into this thing.
That is so cool. The walk up to the bathroom door definitely surprised me. Lisa herself has such an ominous presence, it's easy to think of her as trapped within P.T. itself. And these small animations lend some weight to that little thought. Very rad!
Oh wow, this is absolutely breathtaking. So much attention to detail. Even on things that should by all intents and purposes never be seen. Amazing. Thank you.
The game that keeps on giving. Just when I though that this was it from this game with the city exploration stuff you managed to dig up even more cool stuff from it. Awesome work.
you're doing an amazing job ! I think developers knew that people like you would crack up the PT code and see the secrets, and that's why they put Lisa Scenes.
This game came out around the same year as the first FNAF game & Outlast, and I just remember these three being the main reasons I became so invested in the horror genre as a whole. Absolutely love this game
I would like to think because of your driven motivation to uncover everything there is about p.t. that will have a direct hand in its resurrection. Showing the suits that there is demand for a full release, given the amount of support for each video. This video in particular adds a whole other layer to p.t. incredible.
This game still scares the shit out of me until this very day, its the scariest thing I’ve ever experienced, the sound effects, having Lisa chase and haunt you constantly, not being able to do anything at all about it is just pure horror 😅
Just by listening to the baby crying and the background noise I felt scared all over again. It's amazing how this 30min long teaser was so frightening and had more impact in the horror game industry than a load of full sized - and even some AAA - games. Some people may not like his work, but Kojima surely mastered the art of game directing.
It's a damn shame that one of the best experiences this generation will be forgotten to time. The amount of amazing things this game did for the indie horror genre was amazing
Thank you very much for these insightful videos. This demo was a work of art and it still breaks my heart it may never be fully realised into a full game.
Always a pleasure to see the behind the scenes stuff you find, thanks for spending the time to discover these little things that most would otherwise never see!
This playable teaser has gone down in history as likely the best psychological horror videogame that was never released. I can't even imagine what the full game would've been like, given the forgotten but absolutely sublime concept movie that released in 2014. That one should be a benchmark for what horror trailers should be like.
OMG I never would've guessed that lisa would actually walk down the hallway and stand there like that. What makes this even more unsettling is she seems to be attracted to the cries of he child. She just stands there with her head down hunched over. It would've been cool if we got a split screen jump scare of her waking down the hallway and standing there while you're trying get out of the bathroom.
I completely applaud Kojima for standing up for himself and going off to make his own uninterrupted art. If ever given the chance for a Kojima and Konami to come back together to attempt to bring this back, or even a full version to life, I think that would be just a right as rain
Thank you thank you thank you! I love tour videos, especially the PT ones, so much is unknown and unseen and your videos bring them to light. Please keep them coming.

Only thing i want to know is what is inside that swinging fridge in the hallway above you
Are you sure?It sounds like a screaming baby.
@@johnnycage4878 i would of thought the screaming baby noise would be coming from the bathroom 🤔

For some reason, seeing Lisa just fall backward into the floor after the window drop scene kinda scared me. How bizarre!
Get on floor
Walk the dinosaur
That made me laugh, cause all I could think of is the rig going *plop* 😂
It's such a horridly inhuman movement... I find twitchy/warped/unnatural movements like that and pretty much all her movements the woooooooorst.
The strangest thing was the way she showed her leg while falling back.
watching this in 2023 about a game that came out almost 10 years ago. great video!
Her being actually behind us is very terrifying. The game developers could have simply just programmed the shadow and her breathing noises to happen and not actually have Lisa's behind us. However, they went above and beyond to actually put her behind us. That is dedication to their craft.
It's actually easier to put the model there so the lighting naturally casts a shadow on it than to try and fake the shadow
@@AbominableToast Ah. I didn't know that. I guess you learn something new everyday. Thanks for correcting me on that ^_^
@@MadamGlitch I work in games so I have a bit more insider knowledge, I really like your positive attitude :)
@@AbominableToast Thanks :D I like learning how things work in games.
@MageBurger very true
It's insane that a demo for a game still ha such an cultural impact, years later and people are still digging through it
I really hope the rumors about Sony buying the Silent Hill license from Konami is real.
Officer Flat Foot they weren’t sadly

Lance, you're a frigging maniac. This is amazing work. Sony should hire you.
The way she walks at the end, horrifying
I still get scared of this game even when I have seen it so many times lol
Cool, more PT videos to further deepen my depression.
I thank you for taking the time to share. I love the radio speaker when he comments "looks behind you" at 6:34
7:59 she looks like she's gonna pee😂 but she forgot the keys to take it with her.
That's why it's called PeeT lmaoo
That is so cool. The walk up to the bathroom door definitely surprised me. Lisa herself has such an ominous presence, it's easy to think of her as trapped within P.T. itself. And these small animations lend some weight to that little thought. Very rad!
You're the man, Lancelot.
The part with the light revealing Lisa’s shadow is genius
you're doing an amazing job !

To this day, a slightly opened door terrifies me.

Just by listening to the baby crying and the background noise I felt scared all over again. It's amazing how this 30min long teaser was so frightening and had more impact in the horror game industry than a load of full sized - and even some AAA - games. Some people may not like his work, but Kojima surely mastered the art of game directing.
Thank you so much.

I can't even imagine what the full game would've been like, given the forgotten but absolutely sublime concept movie that released in 2014. That one should be a benchmark for what horror trailers should be like.
