i often get criticised by my family and wife regarding the one meal a day thing. i've been eating this way for about the last 10 years, as i found myself becoming bloated, tired and drowsy at work whenever i tried to stuff food in my gut at midday. and because i work in customer service on the phones all day, i found simply having a couple large bottles of triple-filtered water would not only sustain me, but also keep me feeling absolutely great. i never once felt uncomfortable, nor did i have to take unnecessary toilet breaks other than to piss. now everytime i go beyond the one meal per day, my body automatically regrets it. moral of the story is, listen to your body. it speaks to you. it reacts and makes the decisions for you, you just need to be open enough to listen to it and adjust accordingly. Lex also touches on a good point in the beginning about food appreciation in general. after i switched to this mode out of necessity due to being at work all day, it also very quickly allowed me to appreciate what being and feeling hungry FEELS like. i now crave the hunger as much as i crave the food. allowing myself to actually get to a stage where i actively feel hungry is now a pre-requisite for me eating anything at ALL. and i had no guide or book or guru to advise me on this, i just felt my way through and decided to be more in tune with my own body.
Just started doing the same. I also had problem of bloating and end up over eating at times. It my 4th day of consuming 1 meal a day and i have never felt more energetic. I jumped on the intermittent fasting bandwagon, and I developed a (very mild, but detectable) case of reflux - heartburn. It took me a few doctor appointments before we figured out what it was. Eating large rmeals with lots of time in between is the textbook no-no if you have acid reflux tendencies: you're recommended to do the exact opposite to keep it under control. There's no one-size-fits-all approach when it comes to diet, and it should be kept in mind before you go for what is generally a rather drastic change of eating habits.

I have been doing this unconsciously for 5 years until I recently knew that it’s a thing, I only ate one meal a day due to procrastination…At the time I thought it’s an unhealthy thing to do, but I NEVER got sick in those 5 years, almost superhumanly resilient to illness where my best friend and I would go to the same places and eat the same food, if it was bad he’d be sick for a week and I wouldn’t have much reaction at all. It didn’t cross my mind that these two things are correlated, wow I thought it’s my genes.
Yeah, I’ve been eating like this for 15 to 20 years and like you… I never get the common cold or flu. Still have great energy and don’t really crave much of anything outside of the meal. The funny thing is, like you… I never really linked the two. I just thought I either had good genes or some sort of superhuman ability to suppress germs. LoL. You have to wonder how many people were killed by the food pyramid, either by sickness or over abundance of carbs and saturated fats, and all of the stuff that is not so good for you. At least, that is what they said for years and still to this day. Yet studies are coming out, now that are saying that moderate amount of saturated fat are actually good for you and help your body absorb nutrients. As I’ve said many times before, the US is the worst country on the planet, for allowing preservatives and additives that have been shown to be toxic to the human body. Almost every other country on the face of this planet, has outlawed these ingredients. Because scientific study has shown how horrible they are for the human diet and longevity. Yet, the US still allows these ingredients in bulk. Showing to me, that lobbyists are more important to our elected officials, then the people that elected them into office in the first place. The funny thing is, what these officials don’t understand… Is they are also consuming these things and making themselves and their families sick. So I think with our diets and anybody who eats one meal a day… We limit the consumption of these toxic ingredients, and therefore don’t subject our bodies to them… which I am guessing, is tainting peoples immune systems ability to produce antibodies and therefore subjecting people to more and greater sickness… knowing our politicians and government, I wouldn’t be surprised if this is in collusion with the healthcare industry. Because with less sick people, comes the need for less doctors and less hospitals, and therefore less money flowing into the pockets of everybody who’s in the industry. Essentially, supply and demand. Obviously, this is just a theory… But because these industries lobby, Congress and other elected officials… I truly wouldn’t doubt there is some sort of crossover. Regardless, I think you and I and people like us to limit their consumption of these ingredients… are thankfully, and luckily ahead of the curve, and it would be interesting to see where we are in years to come. To see if our ability to control our appetites leads to healthier and longer lives.

I've been eating one meal a day since I moved out of my parents house at 17 - I'm 35 now, and never saw it as a big deal, it wasn't even by choice just by necessity of what my body seemed to crave for. Everyone else thought it was crazy that I didn't eat breakfast or lunch and would eat for the first time around 8-9pm every-day. What's funny, is that everyone calls me 'peter pan' and says I never seem to age, and when they ask me - the only thing I can think that I do differently to all of them, is eat less. Also every dietician tells me I need to eat 1800 calories per day just to maintain my weight, that's just nonsense - I eat less than 1000 calories per day and have maintained the same weight for 18 years - infact I'm just half a stone heavier now than I was at 17, so I've magically gained weight
Because you’re eating less than 1k calories a day, you have low metabolism - which is why you aren’t gaining or losing any weight. When we eat less our body reduces our metabolism to match that level of eating .
I've eaten 1 meal a day for 20 years now. No complaints here! I thoroughly enjoy and appreciate the 1 meal I do eat. And I prep and cook homemade dishes.

Eating once a day isn’t really that difficult, at least not for me. Fasting for 18 hours is a breeze, then I think of food not because I’m hungry but simply cause it would taste good or I’m bored lol. I’ve done several 48 hour fasts and not felt legitimate hunger until after the 36 hour mark. It can be more difficult to sleep when hungry but otherwise the mental clarity etc is really nice.

You can eat one, three or six, even ten meals a day. Doesn't matter, as long as you receive enough amount of energy, you will be fine. It is just convenience that makes it better to split your food into several meals a day. There's no inherent nutritional advantage in any of the way.

You can get the same type of feeling from avoiding all refined sugars, it also makes learning to meditate easier, I suspect that by having one meal a day, you are doing a very similar thing
Fasting is a great thing. After you master that the next step is to "fast" from talking about and focusing on and building your identity on how much you do or don't eat - when you do or don't eat blah blah blah. The best diet is one that starves the ego
Haha I know what you mean, but really a lot of people do that whenever they change diets. Vegans are probably the most notorious, but even the carnivore people do too. Most people eat the "socially accepted" way, so whenever they break out of it, whether through fasting, carnivore, keto, vegan, whatever, and find that they feel absolutely incredible, I can't blame them from wanting to shout it from the rooftops. That said, many can be insufferable with it
I’ve been eating one meal a day for easily 10 years. I may have a snack once in the day, but it’s never anything big. But I eat one decent meal and that’s it. I think it’s a good way for anybody to go because it gives your body time to essentially use all of the nutrients and as you said, makes you appreciate what you eat more. The good thing is, because you want to eat that one meal a day… You only get X amount of cholesterol or fat that your body can burn throughout the rest of the day. So you’re not continuously replenishing those things that you shouldn’t have a lot of. Which to me, is what I would consider a very healthy way to live. Because you’re never oversaturating your body with too much of anything.
@@smokinghighnotes Hi, for whatever reason, I have always had an excessive amount of energy regardless of food intake. Regardless of sleep, also. it’s just an odd thing with me. Obviously, every day isn’t the same. Some days I eat more than others, but for the most part I would say five days a week or more will be spent with one meal a day and maybe some odds and ends of snacks. I rarely get the common cold or flu, maybe once in a year or maybe as long as two or three years. knock on wood. Maybe luck of the genes that allows me to do this? I’m not sure. regardless, I feel blessed that I can. I I’m an entertainer and when I entertain, I am very high energy and essentially bouncing off the walls. But for whatever reason, my style of diet works. I also take a multivitamin along with, that is all natural. so maybe that helps. again, this is just my thing. I don’t know how it would work for other people unless they were looking to diet. Though I would imagine it was something that they would have to get themselves used to… if they could at all. I think once you get yourself used to anything, it becomes habit and therefore you don’t think about it. I think the body adapts to almost any situation to try to keep itself alive. making me wonder if there shouldn’t be constant adjustments to the food pyramid and calorie intake based off of height and other circumstances. I can’t say whether what I do is as healthy as eating three meals a day. I just think that if the body isn’t subject to all of the added ingredients in food and the fats and oils that it doesn’t need… Then, again to me, I would think you would be living healthier as a result of The lack of intake of these things. Though, with the lack of those things… You can have the lack of nutrients needed, also. But that is also something that varies from person to person. Obviously, if you feel good doing what you’re doing and have the energy to get things done, whatever you’re doing may be working for you. this is just what has been working for me. For better or worse. Lol.
Fasting really works as an overweight person. I had GERD, Gout & High Blood Pressure but after doing 2 smalls meals a day usually brunch and dinner at 5pm. It changed my life all my diseases were gone and I never felt this better plus I lost 15KG in just 3 months. This my life now and this better
I’ve been doing intermittent fasting for 9 years now after transitioning to a plant based diet. I eat two meals a day, 11am and 5 pm. I also fast a few times a year. It’s amazing what your body can accomplish when you don’t task it with digesting food.
It always makes me laugh when I listen to rich people talk about their diet and eating habits. “Oh I was doing this before it was cool.” No, it was never cool, it still isn’t cool, and there were people doing it before you. I was eating one meal a day way back in 1989 when I started kindergarten. It’s called my family is poor, and I don’t have any money, and my mom doesn’t send me to school with a lunch. Or even this whole vegan and not eating meat thing. Yeah, we did that too, only it was called “meat is expensive and that’s why we don’t eat it.” As an adult, I will never understand people who purposely starve themselves or purposely avoid eating certain foods.
For people who know what a hard day of work feels like...you must eat at least twice a day..for people who don’t do much physically..then you don’t have to eat much because your not burning enough energy
I feel like it's also possible with one meal. You just need to maintain your digestion system to process enough fat and proteins in combination with fruits and veggies that are dense in nutrition. Black coffee in the morning, then you take a huge shit and after that you're good to go for the rest of the day lol

i often get criticised by my family and wife regarding the one meal a day thing. i've been eating this way for about the last 10 years, as i found myself becoming bloated, tired and drowsy at work whenever i tried to stuff food in my gut at midday. and because i work in customer service on the phones all day, i found simply having a couple large bottles of triple-filtered water would not only sustain me, but also keep me feeling absolutely great. i never once felt uncomfortable, nor did i have to take unnecessary toilet breaks other than to piss. now everytime i go beyond the one meal per day, my body automatically regrets it.
moral of the story is, listen to your body. it speaks to you. it reacts and makes the decisions for you, you just need to be open enough to listen to it and adjust accordingly.
Amazing to hear how popular opinion can change like that. I wasn’t aware it was a new thing and that I’m one of the new people joining the trend. People who know the least often have the strongest opinion.

Fasting is a great thing. After you master that the next step is to "fast" from talking about and focusing on and building your identity on how much you do or don't eat - when you do or don't eat blah blah blah. The best diet is one that starves the ego
PureHeart ego aside, people need to hear this stuff.
That said, many can be insufferable with it
He’ll eat when he’s told in jail.
But how will you grow strength, by doing this lets say for eg. Your job involve high amount of stamina, endurance and strength.. ?

@@smokinghighnotes Hi, for whatever reason, I have always had an excessive amount of energy regardless of food intake. Regardless of sleep, also. it’s just an odd thing with me.
Jack Dorsey is the most powerful person in the world.
Dorseys monotone and cadence makes Lex sound so peppy 😂
I find OMAD 4-5 times a week, then a 48 hour fast once a month to be optimal for me
it's much easier to manage being hungry for a couple hours once a day than an hour before every meal.
Jack Dorsey is a lunatic.
Apart of everything, they guy’s skin is so glowing and smooth
Jack Dorsey, the uncrowned king of censorship
For people who know what a hard day of work feels like...you must eat at least twice a day..for people who don’t do much physically..then you don’t have to eat much because your not burning enough energy
I feel like it's also possible with one meal. You just need to maintain your digestion system to process enough fat and proteins in combination with fruits and veggies that are dense in nutrition.
Black coffee in the morning, then you take a huge shit and after that you're good to go for the rest of the day lol
