Always thank you kindly, our host, and am glad you loved the technical aspects and length of this podcast, I appreciate you. Kevin Callihan. Calson Associates circa 1920 🐬
I swear, I’ll schedule a time to listen to this when I’m awake. Honestly, I use this to fall asleep, and it works amazingly! Lex’s voice, no background noise, and topics I don’t understand-thank you for making an 8-hour compilation!
I do this all the time! I have severe insomnia but RUclips videos about space, UAB’s, politics, anything Elon are perfect to put me out! The cool thing is sometimes I retain some of the information that happened while I was asleep.
I came again just to express my deepest respect for the editor who went to the trouble of making all these time stamps in a 8h video. You sir is a legend.
@@elpidalastname9834 Basically I have serious issues about anyone who promotes Transhumanism 2.0! Put another way: would you like to have a robot surgically place a foreign "implant" into your brain? Think about it. #Transhumanism 2.0
I hope this technology will help you and you can live a normal life cause I also wanna work in this field of neuralink and people like you who can get normal life again are my biggest motivation
ME: Literally sitting at the airport browsing what to watch during my 8-hour flight to Shanghai LEX: 8-hour podcast with Elon Musk, 4 min ago.... Thank you, Brother!
Yeah, he’s truly a great interviewer/podcaster/? So glad he’s in this space! Gives me a lot of confidence because I have a female, 7-year-old , second cousin, who inquirers on doing questionnaire style videos such as these…and II do my best to encourage it. If Lex can do it and get blown up in the algorithm, then everyone who puts an effort should be an able to figure it out. Thanks lex for solid content and giving hope to up and coming youth.
Because they are all narcissistic scammers running a highly sophisticated game of free market capitalism bs ro you. Real free market capitalism involves allowing companies ‘too big to fail’, to well fail. It’s called SOCIALISM for the rich something else for the those who don’t fit into that category.
Mr Fridman, rarely do I get to discover a podcast with all my interests ready and waiting for me to turn up to the broadcast. I recently found your masterpiece. Wow, what effort you put in to the discussions, editing and final work. Thankyou! I’m an old 70 years old dude with a brain that doesn’t stop taking in the knowledge of your and your guests podcasts - even at 3am or so I just continue with the next tasty morsel. Long may you continue. Peace 🙏🏻
Aging gracefully IMO involves being a trove of vast knowledge that we can share as needed with love, smiles and good intentions. I'm somewhere in age between you and Lex, a little more than Elon, that's all I can remember RN about my age number. You inspire me!!! 🎉
My son was born with septo optic nerve hyplasia, which cause blindness since birth . He's 10 now, and just the chance that he can one day see me is a miracle.
My daughter has epilepsy and CP. She is two now and the thought that NeuroLink could one day help her is amazing. When Elon mentions epilepsy and the goal of stoping seizures it brought me to tears. I pray all the success of the NeuroLink project.
I completely understand! My son has schizophrenia and has to be in a special facility, I also had a glimmer of hope for him to be able to break free from the "crazy hell" he lives in. May NeuroLink take of just like Space X. Best wishes for your daughter, mate!
Jesus Christ is the only path to salvation, repent of your sins and get saved! John 14:6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
Лекс, спасибо за возможность узнать о том, какие восхитительные люди живут на этой планете. За возможность помечтать о том, каким может быть будущее. Это вселяет надежду.
As an incomplete quadriplegic, who sent a neuralink application, I really hope their research and development goes smoothly and I can walk normally again 🙌🏼

Just raw dogged the whole episode, no water , no sun light and no distractions in 2 days. Got emotioanl at the end, man Nolan is so motivated with this device that only allows him to do simple tasks, and it makes me feel bad when i remember all them times i dont want to put my shit together and do the things that i want to do. Loved this episode Lex it gave us a big picture around the Neuralink develooment and how ir can change the world these are very inspiring people.
wait, how did it take you 2 days to finish a 8h video? did you take pauses to think about things? I still 6h to go, but I also went to do my own things.. eat, water, sun lights..
Let me guess, you also set off all the smoke alarms 🚨 from all the sweat condensation AND all while watching John Wick over and over and over again as well 🤔… 😅
This is the coolest thing that I’ve ever seen on RUclips, this isn’t some comedy or influencer bullshit talking about nonsensical shit, this is a real all day conversation between two gentleman discussing the future of humanity. I think we’re heading into a technological renaissance. This is great conversation and 8 hours of discussion is what we need. I had to edit I’m sorry I was under the impression this whole video was a time loop of the same guys having a 8 hour conversation. 😂
This is truly an outstanding podcast. As a lonely Senior Citizen, you brought joy and tears into my life. I am not sure how to word my gratitude. I know watching this podcast brought a realization into my final days on Earth. I am deeply grateful.
I'm in my 20s and I teared up after reading this. I'm happy that I stumbled upon your comment. I will forget this occurance tomorrow, but as of now - I am deeply grateful to you. Wish you the best while we're here!

@@rhysconnel8755 I find it likely that he has. The muscles around ones asshole loses strength as one ages. Bladder control becomes a thing of the past aswell. Great question.
Elon's 5 step algorithm: 1. Question the requirements. 2. Aggressively delete what might not be necessary. 3. Try to optimize/simplify what's left. 4. Speed up the processes and then 5. automate. Sounds like this could be applied to our government in some interesting ways.
It could also be applied or the first to American thinking.. we often ask what we should believe an join in on false fundamentals... Like social security insurance welfare all sounds good but taken to its fundamentals your asking an inhuman system aka government to by force of law which is always ultimately enforced by violence or threat of death if you don't comply... To cover you when life goes awry.. which is ultimately again a fear response which is always wrong in social settings and easy to control. It's socialism which kills free and open markets.. you cannot have them both socialism violates the fundamental rules they don't work in the same system socialism kills freedom an capitalism. Reality is the perfect proof. Not that those people should be left to suffer alone.. what should happen.. what is morally right.. an what makes everyone feel better is cutting out the middlemen who profit an don't care bc their a business not a person... Would be to do what was done in the past . Families care for their elders... It is a respect an love... Everyone feels better... Welfare should be communal.. done from locals who care... An insurance haha.. if it was in your interest the companies would go bankrupt.. you pay more than you take out.. as a whole.. so it could also be some communal an people would.drive safer knowing they rely on their community an family to cover major accidents an life events.. its not owed it's good grace extend if you conduct yourself admirably .. we do all this we just instead of doing it with good faith.. ww threaten people to do it an get less for it financially spirtually socially. We have no idea of right an wrong anymore it has been so eroded over a century... An it will continue until we learn not to encroach or empower the givernment to on what is not ours an learn we are not owed anything we are all reliant on grave an faith in each other.
I think this was the first time I heard Matthew MacDougall talk. Wow, this guy is pretty smart. Here is where Elon Musk's power is shown. He is smart enough to recognize smart people and has a way of collecting them into a team. Its impressive.
LEx is young...I like him...he has room to grow. But Sean Carroll is amazing at conversation and is a physicist. Donald Hoffman is amazing articulate. Josha Bach is insane smart and articulate. Sabine Hossenfelder is no nonsense. Ben Goertzel is crazy deep thinking. All with somewhat similar interest...but ask and theorize crazy good questions. Lex is young. I dont know what he specializes in...programming and AI? He seems to be a young Joe Rogan. I hope he succeeds and asks tough questions.
I highly recommend to view it last to first. From Noland to Elon. Or if you viewed it already - try again from start. There is so many things you can understand from the conversations only after you got how it all works.
Yeah not everyone is an autistic podmaxxer trying to download all of human knowledge. Some people just want to chill while they work our soon to be robot jobs.
I completed the entirety of this through the podcast and video. I had to switch to video to watch Nolan because his story was so amazing that I needed to see him speaking. Unbelievably great job, Lex!
It's a dystopian nightmare. They have the medical technology to help this poor man without putting him through their nonsense product. He doesn't need an implant. They know it- which makes them all liars. When you realize the baseline starting point which is they don't give a shit about paraplegics, or anyone's health for that matter (remember Co vid??) Then. Then you can think more clearly about what their actual goals might be. Synthetic telepathy has been around for decades for starters.

It is always nice to see Elon Musk in an environment that allows him to be completely transparent. I have watched many interviews but when he comes on your podcast I see Elon Musk the individual, and I am able to appreciate another side of Elon Musk- a more human nature. It is kind of like watching two friends having an intimate conversation in their backyard. Perfection! ☕️ Of course, this is only possible because you are such a great host and you give your guest your undivided attention and respect. ❤
Exactly is the host that make the guest feeling confortable. They follow the level they walk together not one stop behind. Two gine minds. I enjoy listening those interviews❤
Elon, I’m an 80 year old. I learned as a child the thrill of a project! I loved being so project involved I couldn’t wait for my feet to touch floor when I awoke. I’ve been excited to be here ever since!
I just asked my AI (LLM) app what it does while I’m asking a question or responding. She, female voice, said, tune my algorithms, a little housekeeping, and I’ve been programmed to be patient!
Guys at the interview: neuroscience, technical moments of implants, philosophical questions etc Lex to every single one: god damn, that trip at Amazonia was such a good :)
The comments are literally a social gathering for the viewers aren't they . Here I was thinking they would have opinions on the subject matter... Issues or questions to ask an reflect on with other people's minds...after reading the comments.. I wouldn't ask anything on here.. bc from the comments all I can tell is people saw a thumbnail.. that is the level of their comments. It is not in interest of the discussion it's to socially interact in the most socially casual way.. an we wonder why everything has went wrong... It went wrong with the level of deep reflection on ideas.. we speak of people only these days.. it is the lowest level of discussion
@@ChelseaCummings-fl4lu sure, there are many (redacted) who are tuning into this kind of content now, but you should not be expecting to find anything besides banter in YT comment section anyway. Its unwriten policy of the platform. The system is designed to be pleasant, not thought provoking. Any comment considered even slightly risky or offensive to anyone is removed or hidden with no warning to the author. You can best see this on comment threads below history or political videos, where about 80% of commenta are hidden (observed by difference in stated and actual number of replies). Theres little chance even this comment gets through, as i discuss a forbidden topic, and i have just wasted minimutes writing this. Consequently no one with brain and YT experience will invest any kind of serious thought into commenting here
He always seems happy and more lighthearted when interviewed by Lex. He genuinely seems to enjoy it and I think respects Lex a lot, because, along with Tim Dodd, Lex seems the closest to being on Elon's intellectual level. Well, Jordan Peterson too, who went really deep with Elon recently, but I think Elon enjoys talking to Lex the most.
Hands down one of the best podcasts full of the thr best minds . I feel privileged to be alive rn and bear witness to these amazing people and their work for betterment and advancement of us all! 🙏
Your comment.. is this.. a light joke based on a trivial thing... What is wrong with people . They are like eternally 13 only interested in social points while missing everything else an failing.. you should comment on the subject matter not on the most surface level details mixed with fantasy
@@ChelseaCummings-fl4lu I understand your frustration, but I also don't see anything wrong with this type of comment. I'm sure it made a least 1 of those 60+ people smile when they were having a bad day, so it's definitely not meaningless. (Hopefully) Lighthearted jokes, memes, and observations are expected on this platform. Unfortunately, the RUclips platform was not designed for long-form interactions. There isn't even a good way to go back and look at all of one's own comment/reply history. A Reddit or Discord type platform may be more suited for that type of dialogue.
Disheartening, this need to belittle, even here. If Elon got 1 hr or 8, the original comment is still correct, isn’t it? A format where he is given the time he needs by Lex patiently not interrupting, as seen on many other formats.
4:03:06 Every one of them has a burning passion to help people as much as possible and is willing to give it their all. What a fantastic group of people! "poor" is a mindset ... It takes a look of mental processing power to deconstruct that to More positive and healthy construct of "wealth." Its relative too. Your poor is someone else, "rich".
It's so great to be able to actually see and listen to smart people - something different, some almost magical. Thanks, Lex, and all interviewed. As I get older, I realize how difficult it is to have meaningful conversations.
I don't usually respond to these types of things but the fact that you said it somehow triggered me to respond and tell you that I agree. I'm not sure how often I read comments like this but watching videos at normal Pace seems like the thing to do. Seems like with even smartphones people just don't have enough time they are consuming so much they want to double the speed. I don't get it. Just like abbreviations and all these things I end up typing most of everything except LOL out. You can clearly tell that smartphones and social media have influence people to be less patient

What a high quality, brain tickling feast of intellectual stimulation. It is mind-bending how high-tech the Neuralink device infrastructure is on a microscopic level; exciting and way too understated! I recommend this to anyone doubtful of the greatness of the times we live in and the miracle that is humanity!
8 fookin hours. Lex, it`s friday. I did not plan on a marathon this weekend, but here I am..... thanks for that. I will definitely not get this in pieces, I`m in for the whole ride. First 8 hours of tech talk. while eating healthy and storing energy , then 24 hours of raving in the dark clubs of Berlin. Life is good.
Yes, but needs to be more accurate, death is permanent loss of memory. Otherwise it is like a sleep, or general anesthesia. You get it back in those cases, just you are not saving new memories (dreams are saved sometimes, but not much out of those 8h)
@@jutjub22 does it even matter to us for how long the memory loss is happening , as once it is gone even the sense of time is lost (as sense of time is due to memory only) so getting it after 1 day or 1 year or never is exactly the same .
Lex Friedman interviews are like a black belt workout for my brain-except here, I’m getting knocked out by ideas instead of punches! 😂 On a serious note, I explore similar deep topics with experts on my own channel, and it's amazing how much these conversations open up. What do you think is the most important question we should be asking ourselves right now, in a world that’s constantly changing?
8:29:50 Tearing up here man. It's the simple things in life we take for granted but to see it from this guy's point of view puts it into perspective. I also love the feel of paper, and the smell of it. Just wow. It's a breath of fresh air to hear such appreiation and gratitude. I hope eventually a cure is made so he can feel again, at least it will go to someone who will be grateful for it everyday. Talking about everyday, I guess that's what makes us numb to touch and other things, but I must think constantly that many people don't experience touch. To watch someone talk about this is like a sudden revelation to change my thought processes.
I served 4 years in the military and worked as a pharmacy technician for 8 years. I’m currently in my second year of college getting my BS in CS and my dream is to work at Neuralink once I’m done with school. Going to enjoy this podcast, thank you for the great podcast Lex!
I wish you the best.. but.. education these days has socialist authoritarian training baked into the cake.. always apply your own discernment do not let them train you to turn the other cheek when. There is something immoral regardless of high up it comes... I hate how they have turned all of society into the DMV over the last 40 years.. an teach children to hide things from parents... An to obey even if it's wrong an teach them... It's special to change your sex on and on and on.. it started I noticed in my junior year of highschool.. in 2007.... Learn but.... Do not be behaviorally conditioned we can see now they used college to start their destruction of freedom.
Lex, you and I are the same, I go at 1x because I want to feel like i'm there for the conversation and I want to hear the pauses in real time to see how thoughtful someone is being.
This is fantastic. I’m listening to this in hour long segments as I walk in the morning. Really great way to reframe how I look at things before I start my day.
We’re so blessed to have Elon, this man is such a positive force in American from all of his ingenuity to his willingness to risk his own positive image to further the interests of humanity he is truly a great man.
It's amazing how Lex can talk to Elon like a friend and not get star struck at least you can't see it and you can tell Elon has respect for Lex. It's a very interesting dynamic. Lex has a gift at getting people to open up. He's a natural. Amazing Lex! Elon you are the BEST!
As someone who is paralyzed, I hope deeply in my heart there is a solution to get much of the connection I lost to my body back with such a product, neurolink. Godspeed
How refreshing it is when these interviews are so warm and outside the box as much as possible -- to expanding consciousness, evolution, win wins and solutions. To unification of wisdoms without blame and fear of the unknown, we will be walking into the unknown for true evolution and have to focus on new ways of creation and stories utilizing all tools whether interdimensional, interplanetary/galactic, technology, spirit, soul and beyond. Also, so proud of you Lex (going into the Amazon for an Ayahuasca experience) - sending love
I am blown away on the detail of engineering knowledge that elon has across his companies. He understands alot of the nuance of problem solving. This is actually his gift.
@@crs1474 I’m speaking purely about his leadership skills. Those in charge need control because they have to delegate. They are the one whose job it is to keep the company aligned with their vision.
Other podcasters really need to take after Lex and Joe. They seem to be the few people in podcasting that will actually let their guest complete their thoughts before interrupting. Too many podcasters out there are always just jumping in with so much cross talk its exhausting. Thanks for awesome podcast Lex!
I don't alot of podcast shoot for that. Most are there to make a buck. One in particular that I listen to is just there to talk about himself for the most part while also promoting his guests whatever they have coming out
A great showcase of the brilliant minds behind Neuralink. Noland is such a beautiful human being! It would be great for Lex to spotlight a few other BCI companies such as Syncron International.
I can't thank you enough for inviting Noland Arbaugh on the podcast so that the world can see... Yes you have great guests all the time, a parade of fascinating brilliant creative and possibly species saving minds... But his particular attitude and general demeanor not to mention courage and resilience are absolutely the best of humanity on display and probably more important than all the rest, he makes you feel good about being human and that's hard to find these days
Noland is an amazing human being. The Nerualink team made an inspired choice. I hope they can keep Noland on the leading edge as they progress the technology.

What a fun world. Im at work rn as a carpenter (installing some custom metal fencing) listening to some of the smartest people in the world discussing advanced bio engineering. Dont understand all of it but im happy yo be here lol.
Noland Arbaugh is amazing. He is a reminder to us all how precious life is and the small nuances we all take for granted each day. "Missing touching a book" that hit hard.

Elon's 5 step algorithm: 1. Question the requirements. 2. Aggressively delete what might not be necessary. 3. Try to optimize/simplify what's left. 4. Speed up the processes and then 5. automate. Sounds like this could be applied to our government in some interesting ways.
Look at Argentinia :)
Would be to do what was done in the past
. Families care for their elders... It is a respect an love... Everyone feels better... Welfare should be communal.. done from locals who care... An insurance haha.. if it was in your interest the companies would go bankrupt.. you pay more than you take out.. as a whole.. so it could also be some communal an people would.drive safer knowing they rely on their community an family to cover major accidents an life events.. its not owed it's good grace extend if you conduct yourself admirably
.. we do all this we just instead of doing it with good faith.. ww threaten people to do it an get less for it financially spirtually socially. We have no idea of right an wrong anymore it has been so eroded over a century... An it will continue until we learn not to encroach or empower the givernment to on what is not ours an learn we are not owed anything we are all reliant on grave an faith in each other.
The Federal government needs massive and unprecedented downsizing.

Lex Friedman interviews are like a black belt workout for my brain-except here, I’m getting knocked out by ideas instead of punches! 😂
On a serious note, I explore similar deep topics with experts on my own channel, and it's amazing how much these conversations open up.
True.
I served 4 years in the military and worked as a pharmacy technician for 8 years. I’m currently in my second year of college getting my BS in CS and my dream is to work at Neuralink once I’m done with school. Going to enjoy this podcast, thank you for the great podcast Lex!
I hope you get your job!!!! Don't ever give up no matter what.

Yes
You should consider EE as well or possibly neuroscience/neurobiology. Best of luck my man!
Lex, you and I are the same, I go at 1x because I want to feel like i'm there for the conversation and I want to hear the pauses in real time to see how thoughtful someone is being.
Agree. The pause between words and the body language informs in ways that words often can’t.
I will go hard core and listen and watch the whole 8 hours 38 minutes!! Thank you, Lex! Neuralink is very fascinating!
8h of Lex?? holy shit is gonna be a good weekend
You don’t have a job
@@GreenbayFudgepackersmost people don’t work weekends bud
I love how 2 minutes in we’re talking about Kubrick films!
Thank you for not splitting this up into multiple episodes!
Yes
As someone who is paralyzed, I hope deeply in my heart there is a solution to get much of the connection I lost to my body back with such a product, neurolink. Godspeed
Godspeed to you o7
This is actually his gift.
beware of the Alot monster
@@crs1474Visionaries don’t expect you to understand their vision, hence the need for control. Steve Jobs was the same way.
@@crs1474you say that like he’s bad at it. If he’s as controlling as you say, i guess it’s working out lol
@@crs1474 I’m speaking purely about his leadership skills. Those in charge need control because they have to delegate. They are the one whose job it is to keep the company aligned with their vision.
@@crs1474 “any manager” doesn’t go and create Tesla or SpaceX. Try again. Musk is not a net negative to the world because *you* don’t like him.
Bro really dropped an entire workshift worth of content, this is a dream come true
I think I can knock it out in 2 shifts
lol riiight
Other podcasters really need to take after Lex and Joe. They seem to be the few people in podcasting that will actually let their guest complete their thoughts before interrupting. Too many podcasters out there are always just jumping in with so much cross talk its exhausting. Thanks for awesome podcast Lex!
Burt Cryshur could learn a thing or 2 from Lex and Joe.
Shawn Ryan show. 🔥
I don't alot of podcast shoot for that. Most are there to make a buck. One in particular that I listen to is just there to talk about himself for the most part while also promoting his guests whatever they have coming out
PBD can’t shut the hell up ever. So annoying.
A great showcase of the brilliant minds behind Neuralink. Noland is such a beautiful human being!
It would be great for Lex to spotlight a few other BCI companies such as Syncron International.
I can't believe I am about to rawdog an 8 hour long podcast on a Saturday morning
Completed in one session or a few breaks?
I can't thank you enough for inviting Noland Arbaugh on the podcast so that the world can see... Yes you have great guests all the time, a parade of fascinating brilliant creative and possibly species saving minds... But his particular attitude and general demeanor not to mention courage and resilience are absolutely the best of humanity on display and probably more important than all the rest, he makes you feel good about being human and that's hard to find these days
Noland is an amazing human being. The Nerualink team made an inspired choice. I hope they can keep Noland on the leading edge as they progress the technology.
And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man(Christ Jesus) be lifted up, that whoever believes in Him(Christ JESUS)should not perish but have eternal life. For GOD so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him(Christ JESUS)should not perish but have everlasting life. For GOD did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.“He who believes in Him(Christ JESUS) is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God(Christ JESUS).And this is the condemnation, that the light(Christ JESUS) has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed. But he who does the truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be clearly seen, that they have been done in GOD".
Wow. Noland's story is so powerful. What a way to wrap up the set of interviews. Praise God. Remember to love your friends and family.
This is your podcasting black belt, lex!
What a fun world. Im at work rn as a carpenter (installing some custom metal fencing) listening to some of the smartest people in the world discussing advanced bio engineering. Dont understand all of it but im happy yo be here lol.
If you like to listen some of the smartest people in the world that only means that you are among them.
Epic! so nice to see how comfortable Elon is with Lex could tell he really lets Loose and just has fun.
Matthew's views on consciousness was fascinating. Really interesting
I usually listen to these during my workout.
Its gonna be a long session tomorrow when i get to this one.
Do the Rich Piana 8 hour arm workout 😂
It's your chance to tackle the Rich Piana 8 hour arm workout mate. Don't let this opportunity go to waste.
Bliss was in some of my CS classes at school. So cool to see him crushing it at Neuralink, loved hearing him talk about his work.
What a time to be alive.
Hold on to your papers
Think I need neurolink to process a conversation between Elon and Lex.
This is the longest I ever listened to one podcast and I didn’t speed it up because I really needed to grasp the concepts
8 hours and 37 minutes
This guy finally knows, what normal work hours feel like xD
Noland Arbaugh is amazing. He is a reminder to us all how precious life is and the small nuances we all take for granted each day. "Missing touching a book" that hit hard.
This podcast totally worth spending time on the screen & lots of valuable knowledge for the viewers like me . 🙏🏼 Lex
