I'll also be changing the chain catcher and bumper spikes.
This is my second maintenance video of this saw but hopefully this video has better audio than the last one ;)
Light 04 bar: • Stihl Light 04 vs Roll...
I think the Stihl Corporation should hire you as their International Product Ambassador. Another informative and great video!
Thank you very much! I truly appreciate this
Absolutely. She explains things nicely and does things thoroughly. Incidently it's nice to see someone else that likes a "pretty saw". I take it as a compliment when I've been asked "Has it been used?" ..something relaxing about disassembling the entire shebang and inspecting each part.
Very thorough video and explanation
@@VK2FVAX Couldnt agree more. Love doing this to all my mechanical tools.

Another great informative vid . I already do this stuff on my saws but find myself totally captivated by the accent and this adorable girl! Imagine... a girl who shares our love for power saws and knows how to take care of them! Beautiful!
Your maintenance of your saws is a breath of fresh air. I only got into chainsaws and 2 cycle engines this past summer. Having come from technologies where dirt is a four letter word, plus lots of automotive work, it drives me nuts watching hours of rebuilds where precision bearings are 5 - 10mm away from clumps of MUD. You are a true professional and treat your equipment as it should be. I do stop short, however, at sunscreen on the saw on the beach ;)
The hole that is in the middle of the sprocket gear is made for a pointed grease gun to fit and lube the main drive gear bearing as are most chain bars (look for a small hole on both sides of the bar on the sprocket end, insert the grease gun there and push until you see grease come out of the chain slot). Grease both sides of the sprocket wheel as well as the main drive gear as often as you can to avoid premature failure. The grease guns are available from any chain saw dealer or repair shop. Arizona wildland firefighter and sawyer.
Thank you for the info !
I don’t know anyone that greases the bar nose
Husqvarna is hole grease for. Is 261 ?
Nice 👍 ... looks like the cat is watching for birds ! I use a cloth over the rim when removing e-clip , that way it doesn’t go shooting across the shop and I lose it !
Perfect thanks
@@Femalelumberjack You’re welcome smiley😁 ... If you ever desire more saw performance I can help ... Once you use a ported saw I’m certain you will not go back to stock - You seem to take good care of and maintain the equipment - this is good practice to get the best longevity and performance from a stock saw but is even more critical with a ported one! 👍
These saws really are easy to work on. I've been lazy, despite that. You've inspired me to to go and get my saws out, and get reacquainted. Thank you.
Been using saws on the farm for over 30 years, never cleaned them unless I'm changing the chain or something, going to clean my saw tomorrow now, thanks.
You waited 30 years a little late but it is ok
Glad you decided to clean them 😊
Another very practical and informative film material in your edition. I am glad that it concerns my favorite MS 261 C-M. As for me, I could use a video about the gloves you use in different seasons and depending on the type of work. Best regards from Poland and thank you for the smile of Mona Lisa :)
A video about calibrating the M-Trinic engine to temperatures below +10 ° C would also be useful. I greet you once again.
Thank you! I’ll do a video on my work clothes including the gloves
@@Femalelumberjack Thanks!
I love this! It's really cool to see how other professionals maintain their saws
Thanks
I too try to clean my saws every time I use them, which is usually quite often. The better you take care of them the longer they will take care of you!
Absolutely! Glad to hear I’m not the only one
Very thorough. Love your attention to every detail.
Thank you
Hi Felixia, I am pretty sure I have seen this tutorial before and as always I love to watch and learn from you. I found it again because I recently wound up buying 3 used saws and one is a 261. The other 2 are a 193 and a 201TC. My saws now range from the 193, 201, 026's, an 044, 660 and now this 261, and my 3 muscle Stihls, 051 and 2- 075's. Soon it will be time for me to prune about 10 trees and fell another 5 before Winter hits with snow, or Spring brings the new leaves. All my best to you and Merry Christmas.
First comment.... good to see some maintenance...many people don't bother...You have done a great job...I would recommend putting on a new brake band , they can get thin and fall in two in time....
Thank you
Beautiful! :-) I would like a video about the clothing. What do you wear and why. What shoes, what trousers, what jacket, gloves? And does it have chainsaw protection when you are climbing? Or not? Why? Also, how is the Courant harness? Do you like it better than the Notch Sentinel? I am now climbing with the Treemotion Evo harness. So far it's very nice. I tried Notch Sentinel, but the Treemotion is more comfortable to me.
Just did the annual cleaning on my saws for winter storage and remembered your video while doing it. I like to keep my saws in good condition like you do. Great video and very helpful. :)
As an American, the first thing I thought when you took the felling dog off: "surely she'll replace it with the larger dogs!" haha. You called that one pretty well :P I bought the dual, larger felling dogs when I bought my 261.
Haha I love that 😊
Boy did I luck out when I bought the same saw as you! Great video, and thanks for the help.
I definitely subscribed! I look forward to maybe a carb maintenance video in the future?
Thanks again for the really well made and very helpful video.
Fantastic video, you take exceptional care of your equipment! I don't think Stihl could have made a better maintenance video, keep up the great work Felicia the treeple can't thank you enough 👍👍💪💪😁!
I really appreciate this message thank you
@@Femalelumberjack thank you for the great content 😁❤️!
Love the content.
When do a full cleaning like you did I usually clean the exhaust spark arrestor screen as well.
However one thing I've forgotten for awhile is to check and grease the sprocket bearing cage. Thanks for the reminder.
hi there, dont beat yourself up about lighting, great video, help alot and great seeing great care into their saws
Thanks
That's a thorough cleaning job! I like it. Especially that you cleaned around the flywheel. Which helps the airflow to the engine and filter. Get yourself a 8mm open ended wrench, might be less awkward getting those lockouts off. Also, if you have the new HD air filter(white material), shine a light thru it after cleaning it and make sure they are clean. Blowing air thru them won't get all the dust out and you can't tell on the older style filters. Enjoy your videos.
Congratulations on your clean and tidy workbench. I have seen to often other videos where the place is a mess.
I cant remember if Stihl has it, but some says have a grease hole for the needle bearings. It’s the hole in the middle of the drive shaft. This way if you have been going hard non-stop. You can put pump a spot of grease in there without taking it apart. Just a thought. Thanks for sharing what you do. It’s amazing.
grease pump for the clutch needle bearing and roller tip, too. never bother greasing the roller tip, as I feel enough chain lube gets in there....
Audio was great. Injure, heal, injure, heal is part of working outside. Better than getting hurt doing Pilates. Stay safe out there.
Thanks.
You’re right
Chainsaw maintenance has never looked so good! Actually a very thorough video, but come on chaps, a beautiful woman that's into chainsaws, every man's dream! Stihl should employ this lady, I'd buy a chainsaw of her even if I lived in the desert!!
Thanks 😆
@@Femalelumberjack no offence meant but it was a very detailed video and you are a bit gorgeous!
Great video you can tell how someone takes care of their saws by the way they keep them clean. And your spikes are not to small. I've got a 261CM. It's a good saw .As always I enjoyed your video and take care and have a blessed week.
Super erklärt und gemacht! Wenn nur mehr so auf ihre sägen achten würden! !
This is like ASMR, I get the tingles when listening to you speak and service your chainsaw. Also you are adorable.
Maintaining your tools is a good idea. I just found 3 lose screws a fuel Leck and a cracked pipe on my STIHL bg86c.👍
😮
Thank you. I found this very helpful. I had never considered removing the pull start cover or cleaning around the clutch. Headed to the basement now!
love the extra effort with camera angles. another great vid
Thank you
There are people who just work with it and there ar people who love there tools. I am the same as you. Thank you for your videos. S. from Berlin(Germany)
A clean saw is a happy saw! Thanks for sharing your maintenance routine. Is that saw named Arnold ??? lol
It’s a company saw and yes my boss named it Arnold 😆
Nice video, great to see a girl that knows how to do it!! Oh, that notch in your clutch drum that you were lining up with the "thingy" so it would go into place is the drive for your bar oil pump🙂
Lol thanks 😊
Always a lot of thingies when I’m working 😆
@@Femalelumberjack I’m sure there is, I have my days when there is too😂
I just adore her so much.
hi,i just joined youre channel,i am a avid firewood cutter and love running chain saw ,you are a natural keep up the good work and be safe out there
greeting!! cleanliness is half health and maintenance is the other half. precisely and meticulously.❤️🙋🙋👍👍👍
Thanks
Very thorough. Dead on about the oiler and oil flow. Clean is good.
Thanks
Great video and info, cleaning side makes a big difference as I found out not long ago and forgot to check oil trans holes in bar!! Big expense, big learning curve.
You do great work taking care of your saws!!! If you get a few hand tools it would help out a lot. Great job!
Thanks. I didn’t have the tools I normally use
Very thorough maintenance routine. I like it. I'm wondering how often do you do this, e.g., after how many hours of saw operation?
This was great. Im the same I love cleaning down my saw when I'm finished work. The stihl braces are really nice..
Thank you 😊
You're VERY professional, nice work- thank you!
Thank you
Your orange chainsaw multi-tool looks neat! Can you identify the manufacturer or where you found it?
Once I heard you say us Americans want bigger spikes I had to subscribe! Looking forward to more videos.
😉
First video I've found that delved deeper into the cleaning process. Augezeichnet! Vielen Dank.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Good maintenance video, there's something very satisfying about cleaning a saw! I'm interested in the multi tool you were using , is that a piece of kit from Stihl or aftermarket, its something I would definitely buy for its size etc. Thanks again!
Thanks yes it’s very satisfying.
It’s a STIHL multi tool.. comes in two sizes
your such a cutie, and i also love to keep my saws spotless and i learned a bit off of you, keep up the great work! your the best
also try getting a cordless impact driver with a star hex bit, it makes pulling apart your saw 10 times quicker ;)
Thanks I didn’t have the tools I normally use 😆
Thanks so much for sharing. Great to keep your saw in tip top shape. Your cat didn't seem to care too much. LOL Take care
Thanks. She disappeared when I started blowing the saw 😆
Thank you Felicia for all the great videos. Just about to collect my new MS 261 and very excited. Have you done a video on a before use checklist...out in the field and about to use your saw....hand brake on, correct chain tension, fuel, oil, etc?
Keep up the great work and stay safe.
Nice presentation! It was my first video !! Very impressed to be honest and a bit jalous(:
You change my mind for ever about this job. Big respect!!
I just found a new tool that you might be interested. Have you heard about the smart connector of Stihl? The little device calculate how many hours your machine ran. It also send you notification by Bluetooth on your phone for maintenances!
Keep the nice work and great editing video!
I never SAW more beautiful female lumberjack than you ! 😅😊 hard work+Beautiful woman! What else i need ? :) 😂
Thank you great video, useful content. However I was surprised to see you of all people using waterpump pliers instead of the correct spanner, then I realised that they were metric water pump pliers ;-)
I didn’t have the tools I normally use 🤣
@@Femalelumberjack Don't worry only teasing ! Is that a 7 point RIM sprocket you are using ?
It was an easy-to-understand explanation. Thank you.
Felixia
Thank you
Hey Good job do you used semi chisel or full chisel chain?
Nice to see I am not the only one that uses a tooth brush on a saw
It’s perfect for chainsaws 😆
Sooo Funny, Love your Out Takes. Great Info as Always. I was taking Notes. Hope your Hand Gets Better Soon. Always Stay Safe, Blessed🙏🏾 and Sweet ❣❣❣ Peace☮ and Love💕‼
Glad you liked it 😊
We loved the tool you used to assemble and disassemble the saw. The little one with all the different ends on it. What is is called, who makes it? That would be so handy in the woods while trying to adjust something on our saw. Thanks for a great video. Very informative and helpful.
I think it’s the Stihl multifunction tool or some variant.
@@bpdp379 Thanks!! I will be looking for it the next time we visit our Stihl dealer.
Great detail. I think I will clean my saw like you did. Thanks for the video.
Thanks! Awesome 😊
hi from scotland and a very good video .do you just run one bumper spike on all your saws and have you tried two
Hi,
I’ve got two on the 661 👌
great video. i have that saw and use it a lot, and am useless with any engine so THANK YOU!
Hey, where'd you get the black cat? looks identical to one we had go missing at my home in connecticut USA two years ago... :)
I am with you. You take care of the saw, it will take care of you.
Exactly
Hi Get an air compressor that can 10 bar air pressure to thoroughly clean your saw! :) (I do too) if I stubbornly use the dirt brake cleaner ... It washes out the dirt in hard to reach places! For example, for the part under the clutch I like your videos 👍😁
Nice video. How is your hand?
Speaking of spikes, have you considered adding one to the clutch cover? I have a older 026 and l installed a 044 clutch cover spike and hardware. It’s functional and looks deadly cool! 🇨🇦
I am a subscriber and I live near the Stihl manufacturing facility in Virginia Beach, VA. However, I bought an Echo CS590 for bigger needs on my property with my Stihl MS170. I just started the saw for the first time and didn't cut with it, but now the clutch is locked without the chain brake applied. I know the saw has a 3-5 year warranty but I wonder if I screwed something up after following the directions.
I don’t know that saw. Sorry
I want to say that I really appreciate that you do so thorough a job. Well done! Thanks! SUBSCRIBED!
Top Video mal richtig erklärt wie,wo,was man reinigen muss 👍👍👍👍👍👍
Danke
I had one of those and the clutch fell apart the first time I put it to wood. I'm now a Farmertec dealer. Life is funny!
Your experience must rate at far less than 1/10 of 1%.
Stihl saws etc for 20 years. Currently over 20 machines. Never had an issue like you mentioned.
A great video as always. What product did you use to get rid of the sap on the crankcase?
Varioclean
Hi there,loving your content.
Just bought an Echo 2511 to replace my Stihl 194T for trimming and prunning .
I don't have any other saw for removals(just an 271),and the 194 is underpowered sometimes.
Yesterday i sold the 194 to a coworker and i'm looking to buy a 201TC ....but found the 261C at the same price.
Would you recommend buying the 261 for using it in the tree(for removal),or buy the 201TC?
I know ideally i should have both, but i don't have the money now,and I'm not a full time arborist....i'm a full time rope access technician which also does tree work when necessary.
Thank you.
Great video. Any tips for removal of old dried up sap? Nothing seems to phase it.
have you tried Varioclean?
I picked up a used one last week in the states. Tried it twice. I like it. Do you use the yellow dot chain (aggressive) or the green one (low-kickback)?
Nice. I thought I was the only neat freak . Happy tool, better tool.
..very good presentation...professionaly...and she look nice and cute..
Clean saw = happy saw.....great video and well done.
💯 thank you
Thanks for this video, need to do that like you do , greets from Belguim, Evelyne 🙏😇😇😇😇😇😇
👌
I love the cat in the background.
Your video have been fantastic in helping learn so much. Thank you
I´m impressed with your way of keeping working tools clean :) However all gunk doesn´t always come off easily so do you use other than house cleaning liguids?
Hot water and if it’s really messy I use varioclean
I always clean up my saws when I get home even if it is late so I know I have them ready for morning I have an air line speeds things up alot
Good to hear I’m not the only one 😊

I think I'm a bit OCD keep your videos going I really do enjoy watching you work your good at your job and hey you're very pretty 😊
Wow this was a SUPER detailed video! Thank you so much for uploading this. Have been looking for an informative video to show how to properly clean and maintain these chainsaws. Great stuff!
How often do you clean your saw? Great clip. Cool cat. Whats its name?
Thanks for the great video. I've had an MS261 for two years now and I love it. It was a step up from my MS 250 and well worth it. Can you tell me what the brown circular part with the recessed center does? It's located below the chain sprocket and toward the rear of the saw. There's also a curved wire in that area that I'm curious about too. Thanks.
That's a cushion/isolator that keeps the crankcase assembly from banging into the handle/fuel tank assembly. If you push on the pull starter side of the saw and watch that area you can see how it just acts as an isolator. The curved wire is the end of the steel band that grabs onto the clutch drum for your chain brake system.
@@StephenPaul1160 Thanks for the info. I'm amazed at how the handle is isolated from most of the vibration. More so than any other saw I've used.
do you put the choke on so it closes the carb so no muck gets in?
Great video. Clear and concise.
What did the chain saw eat for dinner today a lot of wood
Great recorded video !!!!!!! Is that how you shoot Husqarna 572 XP?
I do the exact same thing that you do on my ms 271 that is so cool that someone else does it to
Awesome
New follower here! Love your videos. I agree with keeping it clean. i always completely clean and maintain my saw after any use. Easy way to spot any issues before they cause a problem as well. Keep up the great work!
Good to hear!
Thank you 😊
Great video. I recently just climbed a pine and there was sap everywhere and now its all over my unicender rope chainsaw my lanyard. How would you clean your gear? Thanks
I don't know if it of use, but you could try a product for car washing, specific for sap
@@taobaibai7647 yeah ill give it a shot. I know hand sanitizer works amazing for when you get it all over your hands and its basically just rubbing alcohol from the drug store. But i dont think i want to use that on my ropes especially
Ok let me know in case
What do You think about using Electrical /Battery Chainsaws ???
Do you a product called" Muck Off"?
It's great for getting rid of resin. They use it for cleaning bikes but as said great for chain saws.
I miss Denmark and Danish pork ribs, beer and Tulip Bacon. What is your favourite Danish meal to make and eat ??
You should call your self LumberJill ;-) - and nice video!
What dou you do to keep the auto lubrication up to par? Avoiding saw dust into the oil tank all together is a challenge and eventually it will go in there and perhaps obstruct the oil flow.
btw, out of curiocity, have you taken your 'advanced tree climbing' course yet? (foreing viewers may need to know that for an arborist in Denmark this course is mandatory)
Yes of course I have. I’m an educated forest and nature technician - arborist from Skovskolen.
G'day FLJ, I enjoyed watching your maintenance video. May I ask the part number for the braces you're wearing ? They're not in my 2020 catalogue down under and I like the black look.
The orange pair I have are getting a bit long in the tooth👍.
Sweet, I just bought one of these for around the house. Edit - what is that multi tool?
Just a suggestion get a ratchet and socket and wrench for your bolts and nuts it will make it easier for removal and installing.
Thanks I didn’t have the tools I normally use 😆
Damn now I have that song in my head! Thanks
