I dunno what it is about this cheap crap you’ve been buying but these videos are really fun. Brings me back to teenager days back in like 2004 when I thought boss audio 2000W (probably 4x25) amp was the ducks guts

😂 haha that’s awesome. It’s funny thinking back, to looking at these in the magazines and believing their ratings and thinking they’re good. Did you see the eclipse at the end? I’m going to try that one out soon. If it works it should be a monster

You remind me when I was in my teens in the early 90's!! Just love car audio plan and simple.. I'm 49 now and I remember all these amps in my friends basement cuz they finally could afford RF or MTX and we just threw out the old stuff and look now it's actually pretty cool shit now that I look back lol I hope that makes sense Hehe

Looks like the typical amp that has been sitting for years, most likely leaked capacitors or oxidation.
Hyped for the eclipse and any chance we might be able to see the audiobahns in action in the future?

Fun video! I tested a similar looking amp and it worked, but no where near that rated power. Not like we expected any different, but just sayin

Probably an easy and cheap fix, if you got the will. Most likely its the OUTPUT FETS, if it powers on, but goes into PROTECT. (3-legged silicon transisters mounted under the clamps) heres what to do:
BTW, im NOT a pro technician, just a hobbyist with around 60% + success on busted car amp repairs. most of what i know, i learned from BCAE1 website, which I highly recommend checking out, if interested in repairing amps
1.) identify laser-etched model # on fets - super common, likely obsolete but modern substitutes will be listed if you do a search (mouser electronics, digikey, etc), probably TO-220 size NPN and/or PNP FETS that will cost $2 - $5 each **MUST replace all of 'em
    2.) order parts
3.) desolder components off board then get solder out of hole in pad so new component can go in ("through-hole" components, which im certain those are, as compared to "surface mount". be careful not to damage or overheat pads and traces. a desoldering pump or solder braid work good for this step
4.) solder new components onto board
5.) wire a car headlight (sealed beam halogen) in series with amp B+ to limit current from power supply on initial test
    SUPPLIES and TOOLS required:
    soldering iron
    tinning flux
    rosin-core solder for electronics
    solder braid or desoldering pump
GOOD LUCK if you decide to attempt a repair

I'm just trying to give you a tip to help you out because I really like your channel. I just discovered it. That being said I keep wanting to like your videos but they end up roughly. So if you kind of give a little outro let people know it's ending and actually like it before it ends they can hit the like button because I'm not able to it just abruptly ends and most people have autoplay on so it jumps to something else and then it's already too late to hit the like button. Most people will not hit the like button until the end of the video but with the ending abruptly without knowing it's about to end you know it's already on to some other thing because of the autoplay on RUclips so you don't even get the chance. So maybe just give a quick outro let people know what's going to end and give them time to know it's ending so we can smash that thumbs up button before it jumps to the next thing. I'm just saying it would definitely help with with the algorithm and help your channel grow.

Try cleaning the switches and dials. If it had a 2 ch 4ch switch it could be dirty. The crossovers could be dirty.

Hello, I have a question, I have Alpine S-S65 speakers in the front and Alpine S2-S50 in the back. And I have an amplifier Alpine BBX'F1200 600w. Is it not too weak, and what is the best way to connect it so that I play as well as possible and not lose ohms .?

That thump makes me think the fets are blown and shorted. Dude definitely knew it was bad. You should give learning to repair them a try. All the parts are still readily available, and the way most car amps are, they're easy to solder on, easy to test with a simple multimeter and find the shorted fets. I have a vintage Crossfire CFA302 I beat on with zero mercy even to this day, and it's had a few rounds with a soldering iron. Rather fix it than buy a chinese piece of shit that won't take a tick of the abuse my CFA has.

      @Bangbro4000  23 дня назад +2

Ohhh I bet that crossfire is a beast. I for sure need to start learning to repair. I’ve got several really good amps already to practice on. I think next time I’ll do, does it work? If yes it gets dyno’d, if no it gets destroyed in a funny way. Only on the cheap ones though lol

@@Bangbro4000 I haven't honestly had my crossfire running a sub in years now. I've been using it on the high level input, so I can drive it with my 86 cavaliers top of the line for the time stereo, to drive a pair of 2ohm 6x9s. Experimenting with car stereo gear is something I do constantly as my hobby, which is how I think youtube showed you to me.

Maybe that is Karma , it be kinda cool if you had the ability to troubleshoot the item, show what is causing the protect mode repair it then test it to see how it performs, But sadly like those people who randomly punch strangers or derail trains you must be looking for views not anything productive. I like to find bad (Non working as no power at all) pro amplifiers (Peavey CS Specifically) and test my ability to fix them, sadly I did all of those before I started a channel so did not record any of it. Just seems such a waste to take something that is working and someone may be able to use and be happy and destroy it just because. I clicked as I thought this may be a cool video but I was incorrect and will not make that mistake again.
