literally the only good thing to come out of _Multiverse of Madness_ was that it exposed "wanda did nothing wrong" as _completely_ indefensible lunacy (despite briefly trying to defend it)

@@jeremyusreevu237morally grey doesn't mean good though. From the start she was portrayed as a traumatized person that does both bad and good things. Cannot talk about the series because I haven't seen it but yeah, her being morally grey so kind of evil, kind of not evil was always the point. Compare her to Tony who is morally good after Iron Man 1 but messes things up constantly.

Sheesh, I can't even overlook the way the movie tried to do it though. The way it was written into the script, even Benedict's reading felt like they wanted to get it out of the way as fast as possible. I'd take a retcon (looks like we're about to get one anyway for the entire villain concept) over defending the indefensible any day.

Someone else has probably brought this up before but there's an episode of Star Trek TNG where Picard and some other people get kidnapped as an experiment by some aliens. At the end the aliens say they didn't injure their captives so they did nothing wrong. Picard throws their argument in their face by trapping them behind a forcefield for a few seconds and watching them squirm in discomfort.
It sounds like Wanda is those aliens.

You know, the whole "Wanda tries to steal another woman's children" plot in the film should have pissed people off when they remember she's supposed to be Magneto's daughter. So, ya know. Jewish.
Waldron accidentally made blood libel canon in the MCU.
It gets insane when you realize that the comics versions of the kids were actually created by Wanda using a shitload of magic to make herself pregnant, then stealing bits of _Mephisto's soul_ to give those homunculi souls, and then giving birth. All of which being an accident, btw.
So in other words, Comics Wanda had the ability to actually create new children outside of the hex. Granted, both versions would vanish if she cut off the magic animating then... But _the comics versions would reappear whenever she stopped using her powers for other things._
Meaning that, if these are analogous, MCU Wanda should have been able to simply recast her hex and get the kids from Wandavision back.
_Meaning Multiverse of Madness is even stupider than it was when we just looked at the MCU canon._

I'm a huge fan of wanda maximoff aka the scarlet witch. I liked her in the comics, I liked her whenever she was in an Xmen show, and I liked her when they introduced her to the MCU. Hell Elizabeth Olsen is like my celebrity crush and she could step on me for all I care lol
That being said....... what she did in Wandavision and MOM was absolutely disgusting and she needs to either go to jail or be put down. I may be a fan but even fans should have standards. She is a monster and she should suffer the consequences of her actions. Put her in magical Alcatraz for all i care
I am simply baffled at people who defend her actions. They sound like victims of an abuser. "No she didn't MEAN to hurt people! She was just having a bad day"
Having a bad day doesnt justify hurting thousands of people and threatening thousands more for your selfish reasons

I honestly believe that Agatha All Along did more damage to the fanbase than people are aware of.
Imagine it. The first Disney+ MCU show focusing on a major character from the movies. Hype was through the roof and the community was buzzing with excited fans discussing fan theories. The show was beloved by fans and critics. Everything looked rosie.
Then, the show literally told the fans that their theories were stupid, and to top it off, Paul Bethany (Vision) said in an interview that he thought the show was stupid and people who actually liked it were cringe.
Next thing you know, the channels posting and discussing theories had to deal with their own fans fighting in the comments about whether or not theories were cringe or not and... A lot of people just left the fandom. People loved making theories about what would happen next and hyping up their friends, but Marvel literally told them to stop doing that and made them feel bad for it.
I think that really cooled down the fandom for the MCU. The fact that afterwards they continued to have those "The MCU fans are so cringe," things in their shows definitely didn't help.

Its crazy that they even tried comparing what Peter did in NWH to what Wanda did to the town.
For one, while neither case was exactly a good look on Peter or Wandas part, erasing the worlds memory of who Spider Man is doesnt really harm anyone in any way, life continues on like nothing happened. In Wandas case, people are actively being hurt and enslaved, some even wishing for death. This is also ignoring the fact Wanda was selfishly driven while Peter was doing it believing he was helping his friends
For another, the whole asking for concent thing doesn't make any sense in either case. Of course the evil witch lady was not going to ask an entire town of it was ok to enslave them just so she could deal with her own grief in an unhealthy way, who would say yes to it? In Peters cas, how would it have been possible to ask THE ENTIRE WORLD permission to just erase their memory of who he is. Either no one agrees to have their mind wiped, or they get their mind wiped so no one would care anyway.

This idea of Wanda being a tragic character, a truly abused and hurt woman, is senseless. It simply does not make sense. She subjugated many innocent, normal people (children and families included) to her own subjective, dark dream-scenario. This was all for her own ego, and inability to move on from the death of her lover. Her children were not even real people, but projections of the mind. Emotional harm is real, but the moment we become emotionally unstable and harm others, it no longer is suffering but rather the cause of suffering for others. Wanda is no longer tragic, but a villain. If someone commits a homicide at a venue, we may investigate motive and past - but no one should or could paint the culprit as a "tragic hero(ine)" or something similar. Instable, is the only word for it.
I think the attempts to defend Wanda - in both MoM as well as WandaVision - are for the same reason that Disney created those shows and the writers wrote them: to prop up the idea that a person who commits evil is justifiable or even heroic/deserves sympathy because their subjective emotional "reality" was not put under control. Now, if she did all of this, and they casted her in a clear negative light, perhaps with her realising her instability and rectifying it, I would have appreciated it more generally. But, the very magnitude of what she did is inexscusable. Many innocents kidnapped and controlled, many of Strange's allies brutally eliminated, etc. are evil actions.
As for many MCU (and Disney projects as of past 5-6 years) there were other paths, and better writing ideas, to continue the stories of characters such as Wanda. They are willfully ignorant and malicious. It is hard to believe that human beings can be this inept.

Anyone who has been a longtime fan of Scarlet Witch, or even anyone who was a fan of MCU Wanda, would never accept what they did to her at the end of WandaVision or MoM. They completely massacred her.
What she did was wrong. We can say we hate this direction but if everyone in the show treated her like the selfish "villian" she was turning into, I, at least, wouldve been a bit more on board with whatever arc they took her on.
Wanda quite literally did EVERYTHING WRONG 😂
