Remember the first Captain Marvel movie where they forced rotten tomatoes to not accept reviews and forced theaters to only screen CM to bump it’s numbers and they “donated” tickets to youth groups to fill even more seats and then it still bombed so badly that they couldn’t even call Captain Marvel 2, they needed 2 other characters to pad out the main character, because she is that insufferable.

That's also because most of the money Captain Marvel made wasn't earned due to it being a good movie, but rather because it's sandwiched between two of the biggest movie events in cinematic history and the marketing falsely claimed it connects to Infinity War and Endgame.
That's why once that artificial element boosting it was removed in The Marvels is bombed hard like everyone predicted.
If you put The Room there and falsely claimed its somehow connected to Infinity War and Endgame it would have propably made as much money as Captain Marvel 😅

They actually had two not bad ideas. First, Danvers is really powerful, but faces the question of how to use that power. By killing the Supreme Intelligence she killed the whole Kree government and caused a civil war. Once she realizes that was a mistake, she has to wrestle with the question of how she uses her power.
The second way to raise the stakes, is to give her a villain with as much power. The Bangles could have given the villain enough power to defeat Danvers (if the writers made that decision)
Interestingly, both Danvers and her enemy were acting in a desire for revenge, that gives it some nice symmetry.
They had the ingredients for a good story, they just didn't use them properly.

Honestly, as bad as The Marvels is, I would say that Eternals has a worse script. I don't think anyone proofread that script (Either that or were too bored to notice due to its disastrous blend of art house and the MCU formula), because the implications it raises are nothing short of horrifying. You have godlike beings coming planet to planet, advancing the intelligent lifeforms inhabiting these planets to new technological heights...all to incubate and hatch a celestial being that will destroy the planet and annihilate all life on said planet to bring life to a new universe. Their main goals seem to be helping intelligent lifeforms advance to their own demise while also fighting the Deviants who are the result of Robot Space God (I can't be bothered to remember their creator's name) being an idiot. As learned from the horrible mountain of exposition and info-dumping, the Eternals have done this millions of times over. They just don't remember it because Robot Space God erases their memories afterward so they're fresh and free of guilt to continue their genocides. Now, Earth is next.
However, it gets worse with its implications. The Celestials that destroy these planets can only hatch when they gain enough power from the advancements of the lifeforms on these planets and population. The Earth has billions of people...only now is the Celestial about to be birthed. The only reason it hasn't beforehand is because of Thanos snapping half the population out of existence (This is specifically mentioned, by the way). Now that those people are back, this being is about to hatch and destroy the planet and all its inhabitants. This seems to imply that not only have the Eternals destroyed millions of planets of intelligent lifeforms ("Intelligent" is also specifically mentioned, which leads to further horrifying implications), but each of these planets potentially had billions of exterminated sentient beings apiece. The numbers are mind-boggling to think about.
But wait...there's even more. Remember Thanos, the big baddie of the first three phases? Not only do the Eternals make what he did look like child's play by comparison, but in the process inadvertently turn his plan into a blend of Sophie's Choice and Watchmen multiplied to universal levels. No wonder he went mad. To save the universe, he had to erase half the population and sacrifice his adopted daughter. And even then, it would be only a temporary fix against the evils of the Eternals in their never-ending quest to exterminate life to create more life to continue this hideous and evil cycle. The film attempts to brush away questions about these sorts of things ("We can only intervene if the Deviants are involved"), but not only does this not begin to explain away their evil, it all turns out to be nonsense, anyway. Turns out, they can intervene without Deviants being present.

@@TyshaggyGaming Indeed. I couldn't help but scoff during a scene where Sprite (The perpetual child character. I'm surprised I even remembered her name) suggests maybe they could become the new Avengers. Almost everything post-Endgame can be written off. It's like Marvel took a look at the jumbled mess of the DCEU and took it as a challenge to create something even more disparate and disjointed. Now it's one-offs (Like Eternals or shows like the god-awful She-Hulk), holdovers (Guardians of Galaxy Vol. 3), too little too late projects (Black Widow), ill-fated follow-ups (The Marvels, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania), nostalgia bait (Spider-Man: No Way Home, Deadpool & Wolverine), focus on D-list/fan-fiction characters (How's that Ironheart show coming along, Marvel?), and effects from real life calamities (Chadwick Boseman's death and Jonathan Majors being fired and convicted for domestic violence). At the rate they're going, I don't think they'll make it to the next Avengers film.

      @TyshaggyGaming 4 месяца назад

@@keenansullivan2380 Sadly GotG Vol 3 fits directly into after endgame perfectly, without any screw ups. But from what's being spread around, Deadpools "supposedly" going on a *MAJOR* retcon spree. Not that Didley's Marvel is going to improve on the things they write themselves. Remember, Ryan Reynolds co-writes the deadpool movies, and he's being give Iger and pals and hard time, especially with the leverage he holds with this movie.

Dumpster fires provide adequate warmth. Also to prevent this sort of insult to humanity from occurring again we must discuss it. Those who forget history are doomed to repeat it. Plus as I alluded to, it’s fun to analyze

So a decade of films and fun should just tossed aside in a couple of years?
Maybe you should stop trying to destroy EVERYTHING.

For someone who doesn't care, you REALLY had to let everyone else know how much you don't care when you saw this on your feed this morning. 😅

To be fair, despite its flaws, there's a lot more to salvage in Multiverse of Madness than this movie.

I remember shills saying that The Marvels was successful because it made the most money out of all films directed by a black woman.
Considering how fucking abysmal this film is, so much so that it didn't even manage to make its money back, then what this sorry attempt at celebrating the film is saying is that, since this is the highest height of black woman cinema, then black women haven't made good films yet. Of course this is stupid, because success doesn't make good rat, but that is what is being said by them. They are celebrating the best black women cinema has offered to us as of yet and it's total garbage, which hints at their belief that the rest of black women cinema is on the same level, if not worse than The Marvels.
Additionally, the celebration of this sort of milestone is incredibly racist and sexist. Filmmakers shouldn't be separated by gender or race but solely by their ability to make good or bad movies.

OMG Rags, stick to comments like "It's the diabetes" and stop with the forced "stories." How can you not be aware of how funny your amazing real-time commentary is, and how awful and cringe you are when you are on the meth, droning on and digging ever deeper into your story-telling. My comments are done out of love and a REAL appreciation of the humor you are obviously capable of. 🫡
