Rags didn't do the Dragon Age comparison justice. Untrained mages run the risk of being a demon's skinsuit. Demons are a destructive force that will fuck over humanity. They live off of causing suffering. For the greater good mages are oppressed in that world. Is that fair to the mages? No, but when some people are walking nukes you don't get that luxury.

Connor and Uldred are two perfect examples in the game of how volatile the magic issue can get. The son of Arl Eamon and a high ranking mage both quickly drag their entire environments into death and chaos within mere days of possession.

      @taddad2641 2 месяца назад +11

There is sitll debate on whether or not the environment they are put into IS what leads them to being possessed more easily or not, but its true, they can be possessed by hostile creatures that will cause as much trouble as possible.

@@zachrohler1047100%, but the question isn't if they can, but if the environment pushes them to that extreme.
Is the circle a good means to control the mages, or does it push them into such extreme oppression that they start to see the Fade and demons as a possible alternative?
Or would a balance of freedom and training ensure that there isn't any pressure to look towards demons as a means of quick power at the cost of not being able to follow a mages every move and prevent a possession before or soon after it happens?
As far as I'm aware, the demons don't have the same power over people as in the Warhammer universe where they can force a possession onto a psyker if their guard is down, mages have to actually let the demon in for the possession to happen.

I never want to hear "people are starving around the world," from someone who made hours of videos roasting every aspect of the prequels years after those movies were relevant. It's fine to not care about these things, but Mike is the last person in the universe who gets to play that card.
The way they portray a lot of the fan backlash as crying manbabies is disingenuous as hell too. Yes, some people are taking it too seriously or just farming the controversy for views, but there's nothing wrong with criticizing or mocking something as bad as The Acolyte.

I just don't get why people are getting all soap opera about the RLM guys (who constantly and consistently say that they aren't particularly invested in Star Wars anymore and are more concerned with being entertained) being merely apathetic rather than frothing at the mouth spending tens of hours a week on every individual episode-- even with the Star Trek stuff they are pretty self effacing and would group episodes together and themselves point out that what they're doing is niche and mostly pointless.

@@roaringsteelmedia I mean they are more Star Trek fans than Star Wars. I don't even think they ever like Star Wars to begin with.
But hey I'm a Star Wars fan that has opinions that run counter to the general consensus of what constitutes as a "Star Wars fan" like viewing Empire Strikes Back as overrated.
Despite liking the Battle of Hoth as a kid, coming back to it as an adult that has jumped into understanding military tactics and vehicle engineering in WW2 (you know that one inspiration for Star Wars) I find it one of the worst action sequences ever and why Star Wars can't seem to do a good ground battle outside of the Prequel era, and even then the Prequels are gimped because where Hoth sits chronologically.
And of course I really find most of the cutaway scenes to Han, Leia, Chewie, and C-3PO before they get to Bespin boring.
Now a reminder that the definition of "overrated" does NOT mean I think it's awful. It just means that I find its value not the same as everyone else, who just happen to be the majority. Empire on its own if you take it away from A New Hope and Return of the Jedi is just an okay film. And ironically I do find secondary material like the Radio Dramas help add more to them. But I figure RLM have issue with the Radio Dramas too considering their track record.
They [RLM] are as Normie as you can get for a Star Wars fan's perspective. Especially when half their criticisms for the Prequels can be equally applied to the OT, which makes sense considering both Trilogies had the same Creator.

They really turned out to be massive hypocrites and access media all along. It's utterly baffling for the to take this stance when the only reason anyone has heard of them is the "toxic" multi hour deconstructions of the prequels. It's a shame they won't do the kind of deep dive into dialog, writing, characters, etc. for any of the post sale SW stuff. A lightsaber is an omni-directional cutting tool. The blade has no weight as it is plasma channelled through and given form by a Kyber Crystal. The Kyber Crystal is imbued with the Force through lengthy meditations beforehand. These are the final steps a Jedi Knight takes to become a Jedi master by constructing their own lightsaber from scratch.
(P.O.R: Episode VI. Luke's green saber)
Lightsaber blades having weight was introduced as a concept by Disney and frankly misses the entire point of an omni-directional cutting tool. They've completely ruined lightsabers.
The reason normal people couldn't wield lightsabers used to be because the blade had no weight. The user would use the Force to enhance their senses and reflexes in order to track where their own blade was. If you lost track of that blade, you'd easily lose a limb.
Edit: Disclaimer. I am fully aware that this is not the case anymore because of the post-2000s canon and then again after Disney's acquisition of the I.P.

By that logic these guys should sell off their huge video warehouse and gigantic DVD/VHS collection and send the money to African kids. How the hell can they justify that video where they melted down all those rare Star Wars action figures in acetone when they could have sold them and sent the money to the starving african kids?
Everyone who preaches to you about how *your* opinions and your hobbies don't matter and that *you* need to be doing more to help with issues they care about- all of those people, if you dug a little deeper, have their own opinions and hobbies that *they* care about at the expense of more pressing concerns. We very quickly end up in fucking Bat Country once we try to argue that charity of time, money and even *opinion* is a moral necessity that's required of you rather than something you choose to give out of your own extravagance, without being pressured and prodded by moral elitists into doing so. I think one of the issues with RLM is how their worldview was so heavily influenced by the old Star Trek, where one of the bizarre notions of the Federation is "our standards of cultural acceptance are so low, we will tolerate basically anything". A people who obligate everyone to get killed as soon as they reach the age of 60? No issues with it, not even going to try and propagate our view on things. A culture of such strict adherence to law, even trampling a flower patch is a death sentence? We will subject ourselves to their legal system and risk the death of a child.
This is why they are so quick to accept the idea of "the Jedi are imposing standards" and "the witches have done nothing wrong". Because to them, in their Star Trek-influenced worldview, the idea of basic human rights is absent, and any cultural practice must be excused and accepted. They've got that Prime Directive stupidity.

Seriously though, they do that moral relativism crap that I see in Gen Xers and it's more than just stupidity; it's a sign of permitting evil. Which we see in their hypocrisy like in their Picard season 3 video. The reason why they liked that season is because of memberberries like the Enterprise D doing a Death Star trench run, which is what they make fun of Rogue One for.

1: They have already died on the hill of the prequels being the worst thing to ever happen to Star Wars, and don't want to acknowledge that they're largely responsible for the attitude surrounding them and the approach Disney have taken when it.
2: They actively refuse to engage with the cultural reasons why most modern media - including Star Wars and Star Trek - is trash now, as a result they give superficial reasons as to why it's "kinda good" or "kinda bad" whilst spinning their wheels in the mire of corporate-approved excuses.

Most of the time these overpaid fan fiction writers try it, it fails. The absolute gall! They trashed the prequels for things like allegedly contradicting Yoda's character, even though they didn't (the OT established that all Jedi have lightsabers, building your own is a sign of completing your training, Jedi know how to use their lightsabers, and if Obi-Wan & Anakin fought in the Clone Wars there's no reason Yoda couldn't have as well), but then they act like The Acolyte suddenly making Ki Adi Mundi several decades older & arbitrarily turning him into a liar regarding the Sith is no big deal, and if you criticize it you're being ridiculous!

RLM has fallen off hard. IMO it's because they're trying to cozy up to actors and other potential guests currently working in Hollywood. Ergo why they're merciless when it comes to bad old movies but so hesitant to cut into new releases the same way.
