Have you ever heard of the phrase 'spend your money where you spend your time'? It's something I keep in mind at all times as a minimalist. I spend eight hours a day in front of a screen so although it's on the expensive side, the Apple Studio Display is totally worth it for me. On the flip side, I don't spend much time in the kitchen so I'm happy with cheap cookware.
One of my favorite items is my JBL speaker. Every night, before I go to sleep with my dog, we listen to relaxing music with white noise in the background, and it helps us sleep better. Additionally, the dehumidifier improves the atmosphere, providing better sleep quality.
Some of my favorite things are: 1. Forever 21 pants. Perfect stretch and fit 2. Water bottle 3. Pocket notebook 4. Pot filler (it makes me feel fancy… haha) 5. Not owning a TV (kind of opposite but hey) I enjoyed this video, it’s a little window into your life.
For me this would definitely be my water boiler as i am a tea drinker and my water boiler always provides me with boiling water very quickly! Second will be my 365 day’s ticket for the public transport in my city as it allows me to jump on any public transportation all year round without bothering to buy a ticket! My library card giving me access to nearly everything I would like to read without taking up any space. The pre-loved backpack that i inherited from my brother. Because i can put all my work related stuff in it plus my lunch, a water bottle and a book and carry the weight on both of my shoulders when I walk to my office. A giant oversized and absolute cosy hoodie that was gifted to me by my husband. I literally live in it during the fall and winter season! 😊
Definitely agree with the AirPods. Never would have spent the money on them. Wife surprised me with them two years ago and use them everyday. Also a good pair of leather boots is a must, I wear them 6-7 days a week and use to go out of cheap ones once a year. I’ve had these red wings for going on 2 years now and still good.
Before I've read all the comments the guys wrote, I'll write my list of fav items 1. It's my iphone 15pro - perfect device for photos, music, scrolling etc. Just enjoy it every day 2. It's airpods 3 - also I carry almost everywhere with me especially for reading in noisy places 3. Belkin stand charger 3-1, Spent around 200$ but use it everyday and it looks stylish 4. I can say it's my macbook air 2020 - perfect device as with mu phone - enjoy every second using it 5. I guess it's my car - love driving everywhere, listening to music and exploring places 6. Adidas all sz black hoodie - just love the material. i'm very picky in it
I'm so cheap when it comes to clothes, but just recently had to borrow a nice shirt from a friend and realized that there's a reason to buy some nicer clothes if you can afford it, and I've started doing that. They're more comfortable, last longer, and make me feel better about how I look, which historically hasn't been something I've given much thought to. I still need to bite the bullet and get some heavy-duty winter gear though. I've had medium-weight stuff for years now and have been too cheap to invest in really good stuff, but like you say, living in the northern Midwest, it's a worthwhile investment to be comfortable and not miserable every time you go outside.
I've often waited for late January here for winter stuff to start getting discounted before making winter gear purchases. I got my mittens and jacket for half off.
Great Video idea. Had to think of my most loved items: 1. Barefoot shoes 2. A good kitchen knife (+ big, wooden cutting board) 3. High quality, teflon free, frying pan 4. Electric Toothbrush 5. Greenhouse Cabinet 6. Tropical houseplants (my weak spot, own 8 times more plants than T-Shirts 😅) 7. My self-sewn bag for work 8. A good fitting pair of Leggings
I’m minimizing a little bit every day. Just donated of all my leggings and everything else that is polyester, nylon, recycled plastic, rayon, etc. our skin absorbs the toxins. I had already donated most of my belongings. Still more to go.
I really like the minimalist aesthetic but my problem is after I clear everything away I don’t have anything to replace it with. Just this feeling of emptiness. 😔
Some of my favorite things are: A good pair of walking shoes A notebook I enjoy writing in and a pen that feels good on the paper A comfortable spot to sit and read
Your clips are informative and essential for a stress free life. Minimalism is the way of all biblical prophets and the Japanese have perfected the art of minimalism. You have seen the light.
One of my current favorites is the Anyday dishes. They are glass dishes with lids for cooking in the microwave. When I cook, I want it to be quick and easy with as few dishes as possible to clean up. Anyday is perfect for that.
Hi Nick. It's Minus 7c in Montreal right now !! I splurge on my Winter jackets when necessary. I bought a really cool quilted "Outdoor Jacket" brand jacket this year, to replace my battered "Canadian Quilt Jacket" I've had for years. With a base thermal layer and the jacket, I am quite toasty. Then if necessary, I can pair it with any of my hoodies from my collection, and they work great, one or both, depending on the wind, as you said. I don't use ear buds, but I do have a really nice pair of wireless/noise cancelling headphones I travel with. As a former DJ booth Lightman, I need the whole "headphone" experience when I listen to music. I also swear by my water bottle as well, mine has the same list of requirements as yours does. One thing I find is also very important is (when necessary) to make sure you prep with nice, warm, boots. Last year I purchased two pair. A short pair, and a tall pair, of military issue black boots with the waterproof zip closures along with the laces. They are life savers for quick on/off, are warm, and stay dry, even in the snow we get here. Toques and gloves are the other Must Have necessities for Winter. (They must work with a touch screen phone) I have a minimalist wardrobe, of things I wear daily, I have a collection of base layer gear I wear around the house, and if I go out, it is a base layer and a pair of jeans. I purge the closet and dressers every season, and jettison stuff I no longer need. I crate seasonally, and that frees up a lot of useful storage space since I live in a very spartan apartment, with very little available storage in it. That kind of dictated for me a minimalist lifestyle that just works for us.
This is a phenomenal list - I feel ya on the whole headphone experience. A huge part of the job I left in April was as a front of house engineer, and let me tell ya, the Airpods do no do music justice.
Your videos are always very nice to watch. Could you ever make one about how you make your videos, your setup and why you started this channel? Excellent content, take care friend!
Hello. Where do you live? In which area/country? Thank you for your great RUclips channel and your friendly personality. I'm from the Black Forest/Germany. I also live a minimalist lifestyle. My favorite things are my backpack, my bullet journal, my pens in a pencil case and my earrings. Best wishes
It absolutely is. The only reason this purchase made sense for me is being able to rent it to productions I'm on - so it actually paid for itself pretty quickly. As for recommendations - I'll actually let the expert do the recommending, mics are so dependent on your personal needs - Check out Curtis Judd's channel. He's an industry pro and has tried most of the professional mics out there at all price points. His testing methodology is the most consistent I've seen out there.

That's a phenomenal concept. I think that's one of those things that I've subconsciously applied in most areas of my life.

The library is so underrated!

Love this! I feel you on the car - there's just something about driving and listening to music that's so calming.

I was also thinking about the good kitchen knife and a big wooden cutting board!! That an excellent one!!
What's your teflon-free frying pan of choice? Our cheap one is totally warped from years of use, so half the pan doesn't even sit on the burner.
I’m minimizing a little bit every day. Just donated of all my leggings and everything else that is polyester, nylon, recycled plastic, rayon, etc. our skin absorbs the toxins. I had already donated most of my belongings. Still more to go.
But a Dyson cordless vacuum. You will NEVER go back.
So I've heard.
High five for carrying earbuds everywhere for sanity! Thanks for the video!

A good mattress is critical

Love this! Shoes are SO important.

i do that too. it helps make sure that i drink a plenty of water everyday. and you don't have to fill it every time you want to drink.

The Stanley water bottle is great 👍🏻

I love that your number one is your water bottle! I am obsessed about how my water bottle must operate. Haha thought I was the only one
Thanks goodness I'm not the only one!

I'm in the Northern Midwest of the US. I would love to visit Germany one day!
What a beautiful voice(over) this presenter has, or it must be the mic, either way sounds great 💖
Hello! What is the name of your water bottle? Thanks 👍
Oh i found it. Its blender bottle! Thank you.
Sounds great, but That’s an Expensive microphone! Can you suggest something more affordable?
