Thank you for some of your ideas, i'm a real minimalist and always have been but always keen to learn how other people go about it in all walks of life. Love the bare feet touch too.
I need to get my digital clutter under control, and I need to unsubscribe from emails I no longer need or want in my life 😊. Thank you for all the tips. Feliz ano novo 🎉
@BeaMinimalista same here, but i have some awesome collections that arent going anywhere! great video, i follow most of these rules and couldnt be happier
I’m doing a ‘No buy year’ after taking inventory of a ridiculous amount of makeup, toiletries and clothes. I have items I may sell or simply donate to Charity. This includes deleting shopping Apps! Enjoyed your putting your house to bed comment- I so enjoy a tidy up before bed, getting clothes steamed and bag packed for early work start. I have recently started Rebounding and love the energy it gives me in the morning. It’s a year of self love, saying no and improving mental health as I navigate awful perimenopause symptoms and burnout from putting others first.
My husband and I have been living minimally for the past three years. We are continuously decluttering. Each year, we try our best to stick to certain goals not only to save and replenish our savings (due to moving and purchasing a new home), but we also want to have more money to dedicate to trips and any bills that may arise with our older cars, house upkeep, etc. We used to spend so much on materialistic items that did not bring us joy in the long run and only caused financial burden. Our journey so far has led us to really appreciate what we already have and narrow down items to what we really love and use often. Thank you for your channel and resources! Your channel is a great support tool for us.
i'm not a minimalist in terms of the philosophy or the awereness, but rather quantity of things makes me super anxious and triggered, that's why I get rid of ones I don't really need, and with each more step I realise not much is actually needed
I did not intend to watch this video, but I am very glad I did. Thank you so much Bea for your lovely voice, your happy face and your wonderful tips. You address a lot of things I wish I did better, but I can not find enough energy to make a real change in our home, life and relationships. It is kind of overwhelming to hear you talk about so many possible ways to do it, so I should digest your talk in smaller chunks to not get stressed. Still I am, again, very happy I found you and I will slowly let your tips sink in and hopefully do something about it.
I like mugs but honestly my daughter gifted me an insulated wine tumbler that came with a little sipping lid and I’ve been using it instead of all of my mugs for a couple of weeks now. I love that it keeps my tea and coffee warm and I can use it for cold and warm drinks all day. It’s also an aesthetically pleasing shape and shiny.
Instant follow. Storage bins = coffins for stuff. if It was all blown up what would I repurchase ??? mind blowing !!! I use 20% of my wardrobe, my kitchen , my garage hoard, all the favourites or read later on my iPad. Invest and have experiences. Thank you !!!
I love that you picked the best of the many, many ideas that span across all of the minimalist channels! You have a calming voice and great camera presence, too. I think the spontaneous combustion rule is the most impactful for me right now. I did a mental exercise just now and realized that a LOT of things in my house are things I just haven't wanted to make a decision about.
The 'no' list is what I loved the most from this video and is a key goal for me this year. Things like no screen time after 8pm, no charging my phone in the bedroom etc.
I love your channel! You are clear and concise - I can tell you have labored over condensing/simplifying/distilling your list. I've been a minimalist for years but am still a recovering materialist:-( it's been a gift to realize how distracting consumerism has been in my life...but it's a continuous process. Thanks for this video -- I will revisit and share.
I like tea :-) My favourite at the moment is Yorkshire Biscuit Tea - it’s like breakfast tea with a hint of digestive biscuit.. I have 4 mugs at the moment, mostly to cope with the vagaries of when we use our dishwasher. My focus this year is definitely on reduction - fewer clothes, less clutter etc… It’s slow going due to chronic health issues, but one step at a time!
That’s my favourite tea too 💜 I need to donate some mugs😂 now an empty nester I still have a matching set of four, a beautiful antique china cup and saucer set from my Nan (keeping these) but oh dear, the other 6 pretty mugs that people have gifted me need to go!! Hard to part with gifted items 😢 but they take up too much space.
This was GREAT! It was an exploration into what works for me and why / what isn't working and why. I don't feel lectured or belittled by my non-minimalist home, I feel inspired to create more intention and mindfulness moving forward, which naturally aides in the process of reducing clutter. Thank you!
I am a Huge maximalist. I love Stuff, i love it when my things mach and Look unike, but i have Not thrown things Out since Kindergarden ( im 17) because i Like To remember stuff and i also dont Like To throw Out things i put so much effort to. But i think i have to learn to let Go. Even writing this makes me sad. Your tips are very helpful for me 😭❤️! Thank you!
Because you're only 17, you will find that you will only acquire more and more things as you get older, imagine how much stuff you will have at age 60. I'm 60 myself, so I have been decluttering like a maniac. I feel so much calmer.
I’m 31 and I used to be the same way when I was 17! I think it’s common when you’re younger, so don’t feel bad about it. You’re still figuring out what you like and don’t like 🙂
Really love the comprehensive and actionable collection of tips, I am motivated to act on all these now much more even though I knew some of these before! Loved the video thanksss
I have tea running through my blood not tea, I’m addicted. I have one mug that’s a favourite and a matching set of 6 for the rest of the family and when visitors come. Great video. Decluttered yesterday and feel so much lighter.
I feel weird recommending you to buy tea pots on a minimalist video BUT all I can say is that I can't judge. 😅 I find tea pots beautiful. Just make sure you use them all on a regular basis, otherwise you might need a bit of decluttering. 😇
It's rare that I have to pull out the notebook and start taking notes. 7 Pages later of writing/journaling, simply thank you. 1 - you rekindled a dark and desperate soul (I've been feeling out of control and overwhelmed). 2 - you helped remind me I love journaling with a fountain pen (I know, it's odd, but it's an intentional thing). 3 - All of your rules will help/aid my family in so many ways. Yes they have been said before by others, but you put them in such an approachable and concise context that I feel like I've relived many hours of listening to the Minimalist podcast and others in 15 min. So, in short, Thank You. Cheers! Edit - the one rule... All of them? Is that an option? No? Ok, fine, one it is! 25 - Progress over Perfection.... Many of us start, but almost all of us stop at some point in time. It's easy to get fired up, but loose hope because (X) room is not Pinterest ready. To your point, it takes time and effort. More than that, it's a lifestyle of intentional living. So if you're out there, started the process of decluttering your life, but you feel like you're loosing. Take a moment, look at your work and ask your self one simple question - Is this better than what I started with? I bet the answer is yes. Give yourself a pat on the back and listen to point 26, slow down, it takes time for change! Also, I'll add rule 27 - stop being so hard on yourself! You're making an effort to do/be better, and that is so much more than others around you can say for their selves!
Depends on type of the item. I have very infrequently used tools and equipment that I know I'll need again that I can't let go of. Like a spring compressor I've used a total of 5 times over 15 years to change struts on our cars, it saves $1000 per use and I'll need it again in about another 3 years.
Very good video, I am currently doing most of what you describe, and it definitely makes life calmer and more peaceful. As for mugs, well it's a very common souvenir item, and easily gets to be a pile that never gets used. I limit my mugs to one cupboard shelf. I only keep the ones that I really like and use, ones that mean something or were memorable from a place I went to. Along with that, certain pairs for if a friend stops for coffee. That's it. Mugs that just sit and are never used just take up space.
This video speaks to me. No, you are the one doing the speaking, so thanks! I'm a minimalist who fails often when it comes to decluttering, but I don't get unnecessary stuff. I'll get better with the getting rid of stuff part too 😉
If you are already aware of this, that's an amazing step! I'm definitely not perfect all the time but it's about learning with the mistakes along the way. I'm sure you're doing much better than you think. Thanks for watching!
I'm not a minimalist although I'm really interested in the lifestyle. These tips however are also very helpful seeing as I'm going to move this year which makes it a great moment to reevaluate my relationship with my belongings!
Before we had a dishwasher, we packed away all of our dishes except one of each for each person in the family of 3. So 3 plates, 3 mugs etc. The rest we kept in box out of sight so we had them for hosting. It freed up so much space in the kitchen and dirty dishes never built up. Now that we do have a dishwasher, we have more stuff out, but I have a limit of 10 pieces of each category, since that's usually the top amount of people we host. After that it's one in, one out. We host a lot and I love collecting cute dishes to set the table with so this works for us, but if u really only host a few times a year, I strongly recommend not keeping too many extra things - u can always ask people to bring a plate :)
I own less stuff now that I'm older and the kids are adults. At first the rooms looked almost empty to me (they are not, but less decoration). A good idea for me was to put more pictures on the walls. So not to much lies or stands around but it still feels cosy. And the things I/we still own are the ones we truly need or cherisch
Love the idea of turning the coathangers around to see what items you actually wear. I've done it and will be interested to see if my predictions are correct. Thanks.
So many great pieces of advice! My only criticism is that this video is so packed with info, it might have been easier to take in were it lengthened and broken up into 2 or even 3 videos. But I'm not complaining. 🙂
Oh, hi fellow minimalist! 🤗 I recognised your picture. I discovered your channel a while ago on your "I got rid of it all" video 😊 So cool to see you here. Thank you for stopping by!
Haha! mugs... the sweet spot is: enough to last until the next dishwasher cycle! (I guess I could get rid of these ugly ones at the back of the cupboard... but they come in handy a couple of times a year when we have a big dinner party!)
I can relate to a lot of these ideas. How many mugs do I have 6, hope thats ok? 😂. Thanks for the great content really thought provoking. That thumbnail pic is so hot ❤ x
1 mug lightweight because I have arthritis in my hands and I can’t hold cups. I have the cluttered in the last four months so much stuff out of my spare bedroom that I finally found the floor and I miss none of it and I’m still getting rid of stuff. I feel like I can breathe again and have space move in my home. And I have no guilt in getting rid of anything. I’m just so happy. I don’t have to worry about it anymore.❤ some people have a hard time getting rid of memories I did for a while, but you always have the memories in your mind. You don’t have to have the item let someone else have a memory for as long as they need that memory you can also write down your memories and keep them in a book to refer to without having the item to look at
I'll be following "why" rule. I have 6 mugs (can be used as soup plates, too) and only 1 handbag! Black Kipling shoulder bag is all I need, rest can be put to backbag or cotton bag I store in my handbag. I used to have lot of handbags and shoes, and dresses for office work. I truly wonder why, just few basic items are enough. I donated a lot, but nowadays, to reduce buying even more, I ask myself: Let's get creative, can I use this in some other way? Can I fix it? Can I wear duplicate jackets in winter months instead of buying a new winter coat? Could my old, torn leggings make a good hair band?
I understand minimalists, cause my sister is, and i live with here, BUT my Room MUST be a mess cause my Brain can’t function otherwise. I eat in dining room, and sometimes i spend hours with her in living room, but im in my room most of the time cause i just can’t see that minimalist lifestyle. I dont have nothing against it, dont get me wrong, its just i can’t do it. Example: i never have or will make my bed in morning cause i love the shape of the bed “mess” after sleep and when i go to sleep i just have warmth in my heart knowing that i now continiue to make more “mess” with each sleep. When i go to Hotel for example i hate to go first night to made bed cause it feels soulless. Also you should see my working/relaxing desk. Its Full of Papers, books, items, tools etc. And granted some i didn’t use for like 3/4 months but they need to be there otherwise i can’t concetrate and i love that mess and all colours, and also i love looking for things on my desk or 4 drawers that comes with it. Just the other day i needed ink for fountain pen, and i was looking for maybe even 20 minutes (probably less) but i enjoyed that journey digging ink from all that mess, and the thing is that i know like 70% cca of things where are they in my room but this 30% is a beautiful journey. There is a lot more examples etc. but me living with my sister i just dont think ill ever switch to mini cause it does not feel warm and cosy from my stand point of view.
after organizing my wardrobe and shoes, I found out that I have 9 pairs of shoes and A LOT of clothes that I don't wear regularly, and this made me think twice before buying any new stuff, because its either buying clothes that I won't wear (if I wear them then I won't wear the ones I currently have) or saying a big NO to any advertisement. I figured out that deleting Facebook and Instagram and also using an ad blocker for chrome and youtube made my life way easier. Most of the purchases are impulsive or seasonal or on sale items. If you remove the ads and the places where ads come from you can start having the feeling of "of I don't need this shit to be happy, look at those fools who believed that an item will make them happy and bought xD" hahaha
thanks for all the advice! :) about the mugs - good question! i think the amount of mugs depends on the person, but when it comes to "needing", i think most people probably have more than enough? i counted my cups/mugs and i use 6 different handcrafted japanese yunomi teacups. i love drinking from all of them and they feel very different to me compared to other teacups i've tried, so it sets the right vibe for me, haha. i don't think i "need" 6 teacups but i get a lot of value from them and they look nice together. :) i'm curious how many cups you've stored away! i use the same method too with boxing away stuff for a period of time. cheers!
"japanese yunomi teacups", so this is the term for the teacups that I love the most in terms of aesthetics 🤭 Thanks! I have 4 in the box and... I think 5 or 6 in my cupboard :)
I dislike tea but I did read it. If only I could get my wife to get rid of mugs she has collected. For me I need two, maybe three. That is enough. Cleaned out my wardrobe last year and donated 80% of it. Got through the entire year without buying any more clothes. My phone was only £100 and a lot of apps will not run due to the older OS. No plans to upgrade it until the big three apps I use stop working (WhatsApp, Waze and Internet banking).
Let me know, which Minimalist Rules are you following this year? 👇
all of it
#11.... just not sure where to take my clothes to actually give them a good second life...

@@alchjj Lovely 😍
becoming a minimalist is the best decision i've ever made in my life.
That's wonderful! Same here ☺️
@BeaMinimalista same here, but i have some awesome collections that arent going anywhere! great video, i follow most of these rules and couldnt be happier
So true! Thats my goal ❤
I try to do without it
Imagine how easy it is to move to a new location when you don't have a lot of stuff.
I’m doing a ‘No buy year’ after taking inventory of a ridiculous amount of makeup, toiletries and clothes. I have items I may sell or simply donate to Charity. This includes deleting shopping Apps! I agree storage containers are clutter coffins! If u aren't using it, get rid of it 💜

Awww 🥰 Comments like this make my day. Thank you so much ☺
i'm not a minimalist in terms of the philosophy or the awereness, but rather quantity of things makes me super anxious and triggered, that's why I get rid of ones I don't really need, and with each more step I realise not much is actually needed
You definitely don't need to be a Minimalist to live simple :)
Thank you for watching! ☺
I did not intend to watch this video, but I am very glad I did. Thank you so much Bea for your lovely voice, your happy face and your wonderful tips. Uh... I didn't know this existed. o.o I'm always letting my tea get cold. It's a constant battle here 😅 Thanks for watching Anastasiya
I've watched several minimalism videos, but this one is gold. Great advice after another. Thanks for sharing your insight :)
I have done a no buy January. Successful so far. Also my phone is 5 years old and counting :)
I love this video. It's minimalism in a nutshell. And I also love the bag from Prague. :)
It's a really powerful one, isn't it? :) Happy to read your comment. Thank you for watching 🥰
These minimalist rules are so practical and can really simplify life. Even if you're not all in on minimalism, these tips are worth trying
Thank you for the kind message. You seem to be on a nice track. Keep going! Wishing you all the best 😊

If you're only 17, you're still learning what works for you and what doesn't. Good for you seeking learning more! 👏 You've got this!
@ thank you ☺️
Because you're only 17, you will find that you will only acquire more and more things as you get older, imagine how much stuff you will have at age 60.

Great video. Decluttered yesterday and feel so much lighter.
That's lovely to read! Thank you for watching ☺️
I like tea, and I definitely have to drink more tea!
Maybe buying a beautiful tea pot will help me get more teatime...?
I feel weird recommending you to buy tea pots on a minimalist video BUT all I can say is that I can't judge. 😅
I find tea pots beautiful. Just make sure you use them all on a regular basis, otherwise you might need a bit of decluttering. 😇

Another tea drinker here. I'm sensing a trend ;) Mindful eating and decluttering.
Eheh definitely 🤭
And mindfully drinking 🫖🍵
Thank you!

Love the idea of turning the coathangers around to see what items you actually wear. I've done it and will be interested to see if my predictions are correct. Thanks.
One of the bests videos i’ve ever seen! Thank you so much for the tips! ❤️
Aww 😊 Thank you so much for watching! 😍
I have a no buy list in a monthly basis to make it doable… almost in the end of January and I think I can do it 😂😂😂
So many great pieces of advice! My only criticism is that this video is so packed with info, it might have been easier to take in were it lengthened and broken up into 2 or even 3 videos. But I'm not complaining. 🙂
Really useful video, good job, full of energy and good ideas, new info. One of the best video in this ("declutter")category
I like tea too! 😊
I have only 1 mug...yay!
Do you never have guests?
I have two mugs. One for coffee and one for tea
Same here!
Any for guests or family?
@@lisa34478 nope, we meet out for coffee rather than going to each others houses
I also have two mugs, but because I'm clumsy and have the tendency to break glasses LOL
Excellent advice! Thank you.
Wise advice! Thx so much . Follow most these rules ! Works well for me !
Such a wonderful video for 2025! Thanks.
These are very good tips now hopefully I can actually put them in action 🙈
It's in the small changes.... yes!!! ✨️
Oh, hi fellow minimalist! 🤗
I recognised your picture. I discovered your channel a while ago on your "I got rid of it all" video 😊
So cool to see you here. Thank you for stopping by!
Small mug, big mug. Same in sealed insulated mugs for personal use. 4 small mugs for friends who visit. So 8 is my perfect number.
Thank you for this great blog
I like tea :) and it was a great sentence about quantity ! :)
Just subscribed
Really helpful Thank you ❤
Happy new year 🇦🇺👍
Happy new year to you too! 😊
Haha! mugs... the sweet spot is: enough to last until the next dishwasher cycle!
(I guess I could get rid of these ugly ones at the back of the cupboard... but they come in handy a couple of times a year when we have a big dinner party!)
great vid!!
I have the deepest sympathy for the home owners who lost everything in the fires ... but a time for renewal...re-start and re-evaluation 😢😢😢
Hi Bea! Such a great video! Can you please please please tell me the name of the screen time limit app with angry grandma? Its on 9:23
tenho curtido os vídeos, são realmente bons e informativos! super inspiradores, tbm. parabéns!
Very helpful thank you
I like tea !! and your videos !!
As a minimalist, I choose to not use any of these rules 😂
Seriously though, great video. Thank you 👍
love you channel!!

Definitely agree that the memories are not in the things, are in us 🥰
The 90/90 rule is insane. Some things are seasonal. XD
Brilliant, diolch!! Luv n respect, Hwyl, Taffy Nige from South Wales 🤘 ✌️ 🏴
Thank you so much 🤗
Great video thanks
Awesome Video :)
Great video ❤
I will not need those winter tyresd in the next 90 days (it's summer). First snow all: "oh my, what have I done!"
Well, yeah, that rule shouldn't apply to your winter tires.😂
I need 2 mugs for hot drinks, 1 drink glass for water and 1 small drink glass for juice per person!
I loooveeee teaaa!!!!!😂❤❤❤
🫖🍵 I love tea as well 🤭
We got same bike!🥰 About rules...I'm born like minimalist. All books, videos, etc. didn't teach me anything new. 🤔
Very educational video. Thanks
So nice of you to say that 😊 thank you!
I cant do the 30 day rule when i am abroad.. how do i do this on vacation ?🥺
after organizing my wardrobe and shoes, I found out that I have 9 pairs of shoes and A LOT of clothes that I don't wear regularly, and this made me think twice before buying any new stuff, because its either buying clothes that I won't wear (if I wear them then I won't wear the ones I currently have) or saying a big NO to any advertisement.
I like to work towards equipping my vehicle to live in if need be, anything beyond that will be going soon, in the next three months.
Excellent❤
Great thumbnail!
Great rules!
Thank you! :)
Youre pretty. Nice vid
I'm not sure why I'm commenting, but I like tea.
Ahah 😇 I like tea as well! Cheers🍵
Great video! Beijinhos do Brasil
Obrigada! 😍🥰
thanks for all the advice!
I like it! Thanks
Glad you like it! Thanks for watching 😊
Aunt told me Grandma said ' when you buy 1 new pair of clothing, THEN donate 2 items.
That thumbnail! 😍
I like tea 😁
I like tea as well 🫖🤭
I dislike tea but I did read it.
I l❤ve tea and the video!
Thank you so much 😊 I like tea very much, as well as comments like this 🤭
@BeaMinimalista 😁
I think im a minimalist but my jam-packed house says otherwise.
Capo and a guitar pick but no guitar for the next day?
She is beautiful!
I like tea but I just use the same mug every time since tea stains the inside of it.
One mug per person 😊
I like tea ❤

I have a big family so I have about 12 mugs so if everyone is here at the same time they don't need to bring their own 😁
That's great! I have like half of that and I'm just one 😅
4 or 5 mugs
