The entire team proved that creativity does not rely on expensive cameras and just a mobile phone is enough to shoot, edit and render. Thumbs up and well crafted footage!
Henri Maire disruption comes slowly but year after year, the democratisation and miniaturisation of tech makes this disruption a reality. And I'm smart enough to know the difference between a Red or an Arri and a smartphone, but in a world where more and more, our youth is consuming everything on mobile with unlimited data plans, and year after year, the cameras on these things become more capable, there is one point in time when this disruption is a reality. I remember the days when you could only make a music video or a film with a 35mm film and it would cost you an arm and a leg. And when the 5DmkII appeared, I can tell you that the whole music industry reacted the way you are reacting. But the disruption in the music video industry happened and now with Sony A7s or GH4, the boundaries are pushed back every year. I'm not saying that a I can make a marvel movie with an iphone today, but if you don't stay on a defensive dogmatic point of view, you will see what I mean... I'll take a Red Scarlett anytime over 6+ or a galaxy S6 to shoot something, but the revolution is that those differences that us professionals love to point to are getting irrelevant to a new generation that are born in the youtube+mobile+internet+FCPX/Premiere days Now how many years before a smartphone reaches the image quality of a 5D? Still won't be a RED right? But how many people born in 2005 will actually see or care about the difference? It's just like telling me .wav is better than .mp3, I know, but the music industry still got disrupted because the listeners didn't mind.
***** I'm thinking about getting into film making but I have been into audio engineering for quite some time. You can say the same about audio. Years ago it was all tape and it was super expensive, now you can get great results with just software, a cheap interface and good mic. The problem is, it takes years to master a craft. It's not about the gear, it's the user. One of my favorite producers recently put out a masterclass. I purchased it and watched it from start to finish, I already knew the drill when it came to editing. I had every single plugin that he has, but why do my mixes not sound as good? My ears. With film it's your eyes. If you gave me the same apps that he used with his iPhone, I would make something mediocre since I just started researching this stuff. Put those same tools in the hands of an experienced craftsman and they can make something truly great from it. So long story short, stop being so butt hurt over the advancement of technology and learn to perfect your craft.
Josh Matotek I completely agree. I come from a time where I would go with all my analog gear to mix music from my Roland synths and akai samplers in a big expensive studio with glorious SSL boards. I have seen the advance in progress from performer, cubase, digital performer, pro-tools HD, logic etc etc... And now I mix and record at home with expensive gear but impossible stuff to own back in 1990. But my point is not that the gear will replace talent. Craft is essential in our work. I'm just saying that democratisation of the tools will just change the game. But none of these tools will work and learn and create for us...
This is truly amazing seeing that everything was done on a cell phone. I hope I can develop my skills well enough to be able to do something half as good as this on my Samsung Galaxy.
Really amazing what can be pulled off with just an iPhone and a few apps. The higher rate slow-mo, time lapse and even the 128GB storage phones are just going to increase projects shot on these devices.
Incredible, knowing that everything was done using an iPhone 6. :) 15 years ago, a powerful computer would have been necessary for something like this..
Elly Awesome OMG it's Elly! I love you! I just watched your Fruity Pebbles video earlier lol I was like, wait a freaking minute, I know that girl! It's Elly Fucking Awesome haha
Great work...amazing! Just wondering, knowing what you do about the iphone 6 and if you were choosing an iphone today...would you choose the iphone 6 or the 6Plus for your film/video needs/uses?
Thank you great tutorial and I love your movie. I'm trying to build and or do better with my youtube channel. I need to learn first how to do better with videoing & editing. I'm making the video and I'm in it most of time. My channel manly based off of fitness so there is lots of action. I even got expensive camera that I barley use because it is to much to hall around. So I use my iPhone mostly all the time Any advice on tips, tricks and what do I need to get it done or should I get to accomplish this Your help is appreciated
Can you do it again on a computer? I'd like to see how realistic you could make the dragon when you're not limited to iPhone apps. Good job though, considering the limitations.
Matt, Love your videos..will you please do a tutorial on how to use Efexio with iMovie on the iPhone. would be greatly appreciated. Keep up the great work.
I see these amazing editors on RUclips, my only thought is that there are amazing writers also, though they never want to collaborate to make something very good. Either have good story with crap edits, good editing with dull story. So on, though there is directing also but shouldn't be as hard unless you want crane shots and such.
Grant de Graf And I can do high shots like Peter Jackson. My point is people do these things because they want to be in the industry yes? Like I said whats the harm with collaborating? They might disagree but if you don't work out well and not finish then you are not fit for the business with so much complaints about it. Its nothing more than an experience and work more harder to possible big break. I'm having trouble alone with me and a few friends. One gave up while the rest are still going, their job is only acting and one couldn't do that despite what he wants to be. Now he's trying something else from one thing, better to know now before you regret it. I may be young and I don't know if this is wisdom. But I believe I speak the truth. Sure you can learn from mistakes but it will test your endurance and commitment. If you have what it takes.
Love it great job! I just wanted to know where you get the soundtracks from those typical suspense sounds any links? And whats the name of the background music you r using
Yes, hey! Don't you need a copyright for puting on ads on the video? I have also make some videos on my Imovie. Not good like this thoe. But it is fun to make videos, and I wonder if I should also put it on RUclips and put ads on it. It is music from Imovie. Can I still put ads on it, with out any trouble from RUclips? I try to contact RUclips. But could'nt come contact with them I hope you can answer my question! Thank you! And great video!
Matthew... Someone is stealing your videos! D: I forgot his name but I'll look it up if you want. But I told him to give CRED or take it down because that's wrong And btw EPIC VIDEO!!! Efexio isn't working for me for some reason D: XD
How did you make it like movie look cuts above and below sides ? Great video. I have an iPhone 5s I really like filming and editing. Why don't you start shearing with your skills by making tutorial videos
in the second 48 when rotating the chain is very sharp, was filmed at 24p or made with some software, the slow motion came after, but I do not care, this is how to do it, but the definition in the second 48 is fantastic whenIt makes a turn with the chain, if you could share thanks.
Matthewwww.. where are youuu?? =(( I miss your videos! =) Could you do a review of iPhone 6 and 6 pluss?! ;D Have you already released the results for the speakers' giveaway?!
Shows that u don't need tons of cash For a good film. Just good film making skills. Also that 6+ does some good stabilisation work if that was hand held
The entire team proved that creativity does not rely on expensive cameras and just a mobile phone is enough to shoot, edit and render. Thumbs up and well crafted footage!
That's what you call a video sample. Not the crap we do lol. Great job!

Wow, that's amazing! Especially considering that it was all hand shot too!
Evan Nakagawa Yeah, I was really impressed with how stable it looks.
Very impressive what can be done on a budget these days. Great work.
Just a perfect showcase of how far smartphones are disrupting the industry
Henri Maire disruption comes slowly but year after year, the democratisation and miniaturisation of tech makes this disruption a reality. ***** lol its seems like you're trying really to sound smart
YAY! Rose nah, just being detailed... lol

This is amazing! never knew that only with an iPhone, i can create an amazing video like this! :D Great job done.
This is truly amazing seeing that everything was done on a cell phone. I hope I can develop my skills well enough to be able to do something half as good as this on my Samsung Galaxy.

Incredible, knowing that everything was done using an iPhone 6. :)
15 years ago, a powerful computer would have been necessary for something like this..
That was amazing! Quality is top notch!
I'm guessing the dragon was also acting since everything was done on the iPhone

Good job, I'm learning from the best!!
This really impressive! I wonder how you made the slow motion part, which one of those apps did you use to make it?
Thank you great tutorial and I love your movie.
I'm trying to build and or do better with my youtube channel. I need to learn first how to do better with videoing & editing. I'm making the video and I'm in it most of time. My channel manly based off of fitness so there is lots of action.

what quality did you shoot this in? Looks epic
good shots of chemtrails
I thought the iPhone6+ had optical stabilization....
Fantastic job with the 6...
Great video! I have a question, what did you use for the slo-motion? Was it in iMovie? Or would I need to download an app? Thanks!
It's already built into the iPhone , it's an option!
Genius, well done.
Great job, love it.
That was a huge motivation!!!
Amazing Job Man, Loved It :D
What're the differences between shooting with iPhone 6 and iPhone 5c? I saw your iPhone 4S short and it really emboldened me.
Can you do it again on a computer? I'd like to see how realistic you could make the dragon when you're not limited to iPhone apps. Good job though, considering the limitations.
This is amazing.
Great film.
Wow that's awesome. Which one of those apps did you use to edit in the dragon?
TheCureThatKillz Efexio
wow, amazing!

YOU ARE AMAZING THANK YOU

Did the gragons at this time drop chemtrails behind them on the sky? :D
WOW. AMAZING.
Matt,
Love your videos..will you please do a tutorial on how to use Efexio with iMovie on the iPhone. would be greatly appreciated.

You can do crane with iPhone extensions.
Grant de Graf And I can do high shots like Peter Jackson. My point is people do these things because they want to be in the industry yes? Like I said whats the harm with collaborating? Good work!
0:06 - Airplane in the middle ages!
Yeah ı noticed it too but maybe ıts not middle aged
+Joe Blau Nah, man. That's not an airplane. It's the dragon coming in from 30,000ft.
So good!
Love it great job! I just wanted to know where you get the soundtracks from those typical suspense sounds any links? And whats the name of the background music you r using
Abdelkarim Amer I usually use Pro Scores from Video Copilot or Epidemic Sound.
+Matthew Pearce Can you please tell me whether this was shot at 60fps or 30fps?
CGI dragon could use a bit of work, but incredible nonetheless.
TheSkullArmyMC There's really no way to make it look better since it's a limitation of the app.
Which application did you use, by chance?
TheSkullArmyMC Efexio
Hmm... The exposure isn't very consistent. I think the video quality has also suffered due to a series of rendering? But overall still a great job!
720p? I guess you could blame Movie Looks for that. They didn't update their app for iphone 5, 5s and 6.
This is amazing!
Victoria M. Jørgensen Thanks!
+Matthew Pearce What did you use for the audio?
Dude this was awesome!!! Im trying to add a monster to my video but can't take out the background of the monster on my iphone plus.

And great video!
Si editastes en imovie como hicistes para anexarle los efectos de audio??
Matthew... Someone is stealing your videos! D: I forgot his name but I'll look it up if you want. But I told him to give CRED or take it down because that's wrong

Efexio isn't working for me for some reason D: XD

Nurzhigit Kukbayev I used Video Crop for the letterbox effect. If you check out my channel I have several tutorials on iPhone filmmaking.
He has another video explaining how and what app he uses for dragon animation
what gear did you use cuz i have a iphone 6 and i want to make short films
Awesome
Do a full movie
in the second 48 when rotating the chain is very sharp, was filmed at 24p or made with some software, the slow motion came after, but I do not care, this is how to do it, but the definition in the second 48 is fantastic whenIt makes a turn with the chain, if you could share thanks.
Awesome, Video! you done a great job bro...!
Seemed more like a trailer but still very good
Really cool.
This is awesome
Brian Dukes Thanks!
Recently shot a music video using the iPhone 6s plus, I really wish I had found out about filmic before I did the shoot :(
Excellent job! Why not spend a dollar for the stabilizing string?
"iPod touch 5g video stabilizer - THE LIGHT STRING "
you are didnt lock the exposure but honestly the film look great
This is not the dragon of the hobbit. Just kindding very cool vidéo
great video
Please do a unboxing of your iPhone 6
Legit.
did you shot in log on filmic pro app?
Nice one. Have a look at filmmaker pro for editing it's miles better than iMovie and you can use video crop to remove the watermark
Awesome!
Matthewwww.. where are youuu?? =((
I miss your videos! =)
Could you do a review of iPhone 6 and 6 pluss?! ;D
Have you already released the results for the speakers' giveaway?!
SKYRIM FTW!!! (Best game made XD)
I just wanna know how did they maintain the HD quality after editing?
creative !!! god bless u.
Shows that u don't need tons of cash For a good film. Just good film making skills. Also that 6+ does some good stabilisation work if that was hand held
I had no idea an iPhone 6 could do this.
Which app did the music and sound effects come from?
What filter did you use ? Blockbuster ?
Amazing job wow ❤️ but if you more people instead of the dragon, the video will be perfect 👌
AWESOME!!!!!
Yeah but with a kickass lens.
