As someone who daily drove a 32GB iPhone 6 from 2016 to 2021 (it came bundled with a Telstra mobile data plan from JB HiFi back in 2016); I honestly miss it for the simple function of the Touch ID to authorise things instead of double-tapping the power button and scanning my face with my 64GB XR (bought secondhand at Cash Converters in 2021) but otherwise I do NOT miss the panic attacks of if my phone is still in my pocket or not! Never had a "bendgate" issue as I was careful enough to put the iPhone 6 in a protective case right away with a screen protector so it wouldn't bend or break in usage - also I kept it in my *side* pockets and mot my *back* pocket when I put it away. I'm surprised people didn't realise *sitting on your phone* might be a problem...
Funny tho, my little sister managed to kill 3 phones (among the poor ones, a iPhone) just with sitting on it. I've told her countless times, if she wants to keep it longer, STOP putting in your back pocket... But she didn't listen, still to this day, she does that and i've told her to not roughly 5 years ago. It's totally fine to have it there but it's not fine to sit on it haha xD
Hilarious still, my little sister ingested her iPhone directly into her ass. No matter how many times I told her it's not an enema, we'd catch her in the tub covered in her own poop.
How did you manage to use an iPhone 6 until 2021? Mine in 2019, after iOS 12 upgrade, became painfully slow and unproductive. Plus, the battery was gone. Used for work and with loads of suff on it. So maybe that’s a reason.
Sometimes apple removes stuff so they have room to add new items or to safe space or money lol. I didn’t know but newer phones are becoming less packaged with important items like a adapter. I didn’t know the iPhone removed live wallpapers and I was lucky to get the iPhone 6s that was the last iPhone with a headphone Jack
The iPhone 6 is definitely one of the most memorable iPhones out there to date. I have a 6+ as a backup and I've had no problems using it when I can't use my 13, the camera, while worse, is still manageable, the battery life is bad but I've replaced the battery in mine and carry a small battery pack for it. However something like an iPhone 7 or 8 would be more feasible and useful in 2023.
I had an iPhone 6 Plus as a work phone from 2016 to 2021, it was hammered all day long in field service using specific apps, calls, texts, emails and Teams - it became horrendously slow and thankfully I got a 2nd hand 6S Plus as a replacement in 2021 after I dropped it...The 6S was just about usable by the time I retired from service in Feb '22 but it really struggled with Teams.
I got an iPhone 6s with 64GB for €25 (+5 shipping) second hand. It's cheaper than a new SD card of the same storage size but it came with a fully working unit of the best phone ever made. The 6s is an iPhone 6, but with 3 more iOS updates, 4K video, 3D touch and taptic engine, the touch ID is so fast it scans with a tap instead of press, it's the same thickness and it has a headphone jack. With double the RAM and a way faster SOC with a 90% GPU performance boost it's incredible and still usable for everything, 8 years later! App support is great for now, but won't last long as more iOS versions get released. The battery life is poor, but this happens to all devices of this age, Android phones too. The iPod batteries are the worst tho (nano and early iPod touch). I'm glad the batteries last enough for a day of use with a couple small charges during the day. If you switch to an iPhone 1-5s for a day, getting the big screen of an iPhone 6 is a luxury again. Just like when it was new!
I remember when I used to use one of these. I love how small it is and that's why I love the size of the iPhone 13 mini or the iPhone 8 which I mained. My friend still uses it and it seems to holdup.

I think just stepping up to the next year's 6S would be MUCH better experience. It got updates all the way up to iOS 15 and was much more technically robust as well so its performance holds up significantly better than the 6 as well. I still have a 6S with me and I could realistically still use it day to day if I really had to. Its insane that a phone from 2015 is still this usable 8 years later.
My J7 Prime from 2016 with laat update of Android pie (3gb ram/32gb rom) still working fine as I play mobile legends high frame rate and graphics smoothly and gta san andreas (im just a casual gamer) and just use it for fb, instagram, and youtube. And it's working very fine without lags. Tho battery maybe bad since got this phone since it release in 2016.
Stepping up to the 7 is even better, you don’t get a headphone jack but you get stereo speakers, 1080p video recording on front cam, upgraded base storage to 32GB, IP67 protection, and higher brightness over the 6S
My daily runner is still an iPhone-7 plus that I’ve had from new. It’s had a new battery this year, and still runs all my apps perfectly. No plans to part with any hard earned cash to replace it anytime soon 😊
I got a "grade a" iPhone 6 two weeks ago from a friend. He thank goodness remembered the password (as opposed to the one of the ipad 3 he gave me, so sad) and I reset it. It's impressive how well that oldie still works.
I got my grandma's old 6 plus 128gb this year when she upgraded to a 14 pro max. Phone is in mint condition with a slight bend. I remember unboxing it in early 2015. The UI feels OK, screen recordings fail a lot, but apps like Telegram run horrible, it's almost unusable, the A8 is still kinda OK, but it's the 1gb of ram that kills the phone. I'm pretty sure the S5 aged better with a custom rom
I still use my 6S as a secondary phone and it is completely uncompromised. I picked it up in 2016 and it runs all the latest apps. I use it to play Among Us & stream videos from RUclips, Disney+ and Netflix along with web-browsing, Skype & FaceTime. All I’ve had to do is replace the battery a few times.
Man the iPhone 6 was the best iPhone I ever handled imo not the 6s but the original release skinnier one with space gray. Something about that phones simplicity was perfect for me and the quick tap to unlock made it such a smooth device to use as a daily.
I just ordered an iPhone 13 Mini to replace my iPhone 6 16GB. 😀 I don't think I will ever have a cheaper phone than the iPhone 6. I bought it used in 2017 for 130€ and replaced the battery for 30€ or so in 2019. Hurts a bit to pay 720€ for the iPhone 13 Mini, because I don't use my phone that much. But with phones getting bigger and bigger this seemed like the last opportunity to get something this small.
I have an iphone 6s which is hella cracked because I broke the screen protector. This iPhone works pretty well, cameras were pretty smooth ngl until there were a few problems with my iPhone 6. My touchscreen was not working properly and I only have limited data. It does look bad for now, but I decided to keep my iPhone 6 because I might save it for nostalgia and childhood feelings. Wait until the next 5 years this iPhone will look so luxurious that it is not even in sale, yet is pretty cheap. I have my iPhone 15 because I wanted an upgrade to use it permanently but i still keep my iPhone 6 which was lent by my dad in 2020. I don't want to sell or destroy it because I wanted to keep it like a decoration even with shit cracks on my phone.
Colours being 'washed out' can also be a camera module thing. I have an iPhone 11 and still prefer its images to the newer iPhones, which are just too aggressive in colour and contrast. The 15 is the first one that makes me go 'all right, I can live with this'. I refuse to pay that much for a phone though (they are way more expensive here in the Netherlands than they are in the US. I think it's 700 bucks there, it's close to 1100 here). So I hope mine will last for a few years, by the time the iPhone 17 is released I'm sure i'll be happier with the price of the 15 :D.
It's got an 8 megapixel iPhone 5S camera. 8 is just a 5s with a screen that has a resolution that is too high for it's specs You are right about the colors though, you just have to turn off every settings on the new phones, and 15 does not even allow that. My 6S did better with exposure.
My mother and father in law are still using a base iPhone 6 to this day as a daily driver. I mean, calls work, WhatsApp works, safari is slow but doable, they are not really power user as you can imagine. No complaints a part from the “small screen”, to them hard to read even on big characters without glasses.
I remember on the news the day that the iPhone 6 came out, there was a guy at the Apple Store here in Adelaide that dropped his brand new iPhone 6 out of the box. Being as you’re also from Adelaide, you probably remember that too 😂
I actually still use the iPhone 6 plus in 2024 and I don't have any plans to switch. It's good as is. Most app don't work but you can deal with it if it isn't important.
@@broskibrobro1278 Facebook doesn't work, error code 1, which means update, I haven't got Instagram but I'm sure it can run in the browser, RUclips actually works, on an older version, 17.39.4, I'm not aware of MySpace, and Discord works. Can you really complain?
No! Why did you update from ios 10, your phone was rare and one of a kind, you know devs are working there butts of to try to get a tetherd downgrade working to no avail, such a shame.
i have used my iPhone 6s since 2018 to now to this day still and havent changed, its so beastly, the iphone 6s model includes the pink color on the back, but besides that it had many updates, and las like 32 GB or storage, still works beastly and quite smooth, cuz of this, if i ever got a different phone, i wouldnt want it to be looking exactly liek the iphone 6s like my one, then it will look nice!
Out of all the iPhone's i've ever had, (6 Plus, X, 11 Pro Max, and now my 14 Pro,) the 6 Plus had to have been my favorite iphone i've ever had. It was so simple, and loved it.
I remember when I used this... ten minutes ago! I'm still using an iPhone 6 that I inherited from my daughter about 8 years ago, LOL! I changed the battery once - cost about 60 bucks, and it's due for a new change, it just gets old. Every few months I download my pictures to my desktop, that's the biggest storage issue. Lately, though, I'm getting locked out of many app updates (apple doesn't let you upgrade past IOS 12), and it hurst a little not being able to open youtube, to be honest. (I don't care about twitter or FB) Great for productivity though! =) I just can't get myself to pay for a phone more than what I paid for a gaming desktop. Thanks for the video!
As a third world country enthusiast, you would be surprised at how many people are still using the 4S, 5S, 6, 6S.. I am privileged enough to buy a 3rd gen SE, because that is the maximum that an average person can afford.
Thanks for a good review of the iPhone 6 in 2023 - one of my friends sent me an iPhone 6 a while ago which requires a new screen and battery. I might just fix it up and use it as a test phone. P.S. I do not rate Apple's newer phones due to the lack of basic features required (such as a headphone jack and fingerprint scanner - even the Galaxy A50 has an in screen fingerprint sensor) and the severe lack of repairability to 3rd parties, including end users.
my cousin still uses this phone , baffles me that she’s able to do pretty much anything (at face value) that an older iphone can, not including hardware and quality ect
I used a hand me down Iphone 6 from around 2017-2020. The phone did everything it needed to flawlessly and i only considered replacing it because of the battery was having problems. The final straw was when I was sitting on the toilet and I accidentally dropped it on the floor face down, needless to say the screen was completely obliterated
I can literally imagine how it would look after the display being shattered into crumbs because clearly a friend I know carries one with them despite the damage.
I had this phone when it was new back in 2014. And I remember knowing that it was super reliable when it came out but as time went on, the battery was horrible and the screen was way too dim to use outside. Even at full brightness. Now I basically use it as an iPod. I did get the 32GB and it’s still works. I changes the battery, not that hard, and it is next to my desktop connected to my Spotify car thing in order to have my primary phone charging or updating. Sadly I’m not sure how long it will continue to surviving on ios12 but it still works even after 9 years
My dad gave me his old iPhone 6 when he upgraded to a newer phone. The battery life on it was absolutely atrocious. A full charge would last me half an hour to 45 minutes. An hour if I was lucky. Came to a point I had the phone plugged in pretty much every time I was using it. I would take the phone to school with me and I'd have to bring the charger with me. I would have to charge it at least a few times a day. I charged it to 100% one morning before leaving for school and less than an hour later, I was in class and the phone was already on 20 something % just from me listening to music with it on the way to school. It did not hold a charge at all. Ended up upgrading to a Samsung Galaxy S7 and that phone was a lot better. It's laughable how bad the battery life is on the iPhone 6. I've had iPod Touches as well that didn't have great battery life and even those had better battery life than the iPhone 6.
@tomjardine100 Yeah, the batteries on those phone's aren't good. Even with incredibly light usage, mine wouldn't have lasted a day. Came to a point where I'd mostly have the phone plugged in when I was using it. I would have the charger for the phone with me anywhere I went. I upgraded to the Samsung Galaxy S7 afterwards and that phone had much better battery life.
@@riley1733 I have the 14 pro max now, and what a difference. It lasts easily a full day. I charged it up to 100% at 10 am and by 10pm it only dropped to 75%

My grandma still uses her iPhone 6. I googled some things on it for her and it was weird how random apps and websites don’t work but otherwise the phone functioned perfectly since she didn’t need it for much more than a flip phone that sometimes took photos
Bendgate lol. Never seen one bend in real life usage, extremely overrated problem. It's really unlikely to happen if you actually value your possesions and don't treat them like shit
I upgraded from an iPhone 6 16 gig to iPhone 12 mini 32 gig. I loved it but after 8 years, a lack of updates made me upgrade Touch ID and headphone jack is what kept me from upgrading for a while

I still use my 6s and it's the only phone I've used since I purchased it in August 2017. I chose it over the iPhone 8 because it still had an auxiliary port. It's still a reliable great phone. But I think I will soon purchase an iPhone SE 3rd gen because my speaker phone is not usable, battery is not great... and I just got it replaced for the 2nd time in March. Speaker isn't good anymore, and some apps are slow. But it's still usable! It's pretty amazing to me.

I recently bought a restored 6S with a new battery with the intention to use as my daily device. I used it for a day and then went back to my modern android phone. It was simply too slow and painful to use. It also got super hot and drained battery very quickly when I was actively using it.
I have the original 6 Plus when it first came out and still use it here and there. Still a great phone. Got a dozen of the 6 a month ago and they all got sold in 24 hours after posting them on ebay and Mercari. So people still buy these for spare phones or for nolgastic reasons.
0:07 "If you had one of these, you were pretty cool" I did have one of these and I clearly remember people thinking mine was fake because I was using iOS 9's lower power mode and my battery symbol was orange. This was still new so it wasn't a known thing that an orange icon meant lower power mode back then HAHA
These phones are still great, I use a 128gb iPhone 7 as a "music and smart home" phone, basically an iPod with my music library and apps for my router and such. Still very capable of running the current apps. And so small and nifty you forget how phone manufacturers used to focus on designing them small or slim.

I still have a 6S with me and I could realistically still use it day to day if I really had to. Its insane that a phone from 2015 is still this usable 8 years later.
A 2015 phone isn't old, but technically software wise it's obsolete
@@Matty12333 in tech terms a phone from 2015 is ancient lol. There are no other phones from that year that are still usable reliably today.
@@alolanstarboy I phone XR from 2018, seems to work great but still no doubt classed as old
My J7 Prime from 2016 with laat update of Android pie (3gb ram/32gb rom) still working fine as I play mobile legends high frame rate and graphics smoothly and gta san andreas (im just a casual gamer) and just use it for fb, instagram, and youtube.
It's aged so well considering anything below A5 chip only lasted like 4 years
64 bit cpu magic 🤓 👌🏻 (Apple A7 and later)iPhone 6 has Apple A8
6:15 as a iPhone SE 2 daily driver I can confirm I plug it in all the time because of the small battery and only charging to 82
I’m 17 years old. And I love my iPhone 6 from when I was 8 years old. It still works great for me
I still have my iPhone 6 from July 2017. Works awesome.
My daily runner is still an iPhone-7 plus that I’ve had from new. It’s had a new battery this year, and still runs all my apps perfectly. No plans to part with any hard earned cash to replace it anytime soon 😊
The fact that he updated that rare iPhone 6 on iOS 10 to iOS 12 😭😭😭
I got a "grade a" iPhone 6 two weeks ago from a friend. He thank goodness remembered the password (as opposed to the one of the ipad 3 he gave me, so sad) and I reset it. It's impressive how well that oldie still works.
Bro, my only phone is a iPhone 6 and I had it for 5 years
I had iPhone 6 16GB until 2020 with iCloud storage and it’s biggest advantage was that a local backup on iTunes was done in 1 minute ;)
This sponsor aged poorly 😂😂😂
😂
why
The screen protector is made to break on impact
It protects your screen
Also it is much cheaper to get a new screen protector
@@siddhantd5427 no it was because casetify was in hot water for stealing Jerry rig everything and dbrand’s design for a case.
Telegram runs fine on mine
@@Elroy03 Weird, i think it might be my battery, the phone doesn't even warm up unlike my 6S that is an induction cooker
i still using my iphone 6 128gb in 2023 and i think i would be still using it for couple of years more i love it haha
I used a 32GB iPhone 6S Plus up until earlier this year. It served me very well ever since high school, definitely a great phone.
I don't think I will ever have a cheaper phone than the iPhone 6.
Also 6 isn’t secure anymore you did the right thing, 6 can be easily hackable
@@allaboutwwe9269 There is no security, but he has become a turtle
you can always just buy few years down the road
So nostalgic that was my first iPhone back in 6th Grade. Im surprised that it still runs as it first came out the box besides the degraded battery :(
I have an iphone 6s which is hella cracked because I broke the screen protector.
Me who is using a iphone 6 plus in 2024
Bro, upgrade it or smth 💀
Says the one who has been banned on Twitter I also use an iPhone 6
Me too

@@Talha69420 well dear talha69420, unfortunotely, i am in poverty! Hope this helps haha
I agree.
iPhones before iPhone 7 doesn’t capture in P3 Wide Color. That might be the cause otherwise the camera in daylight is still pretty good
It's got an 8 megapixel iPhone 5S camera. 8 is just a 5s with a screen that has a resolution that is too high for it's specs
You are right about the colors though, you just have to turn off every settings on the new phones, and 15 does not even allow that.
Being as you’re also from Adelaide, you probably remember that too 😂
Pretty sure I saw that on the news!
@@psivewriyeah, did you get to keep that 15 Pro as part of the sponsorship?
I actually still use the iPhone 6 plus in 2024 and I don't have any plans to switch. It's good as is. Most app don't work but you can deal with it if it isn't important.
Damm social media still works right?
@@broskibrobro1278 Facebook doesn't work, error code 1, which means update, I haven't got Instagram but I'm sure it can run in the browser, RUclips actually works, on an older version, 17.39.4, I'm not aware of MySpace, and Discord works. Can you really complain?
Why would you update it!? That was such a bad choice you should have kept it on iOS 10
No! Why did you update from ios 10, your phone was rare and one of a kind, you know devs are working there butts of to try to get a tetherd downgrade working to no avail, such a shame.
It's mildly annoying that you updated from iOS 10 to ios 12 which is kind of sad
The possibility of a jailbreak… GONE. I don’t think you can jailbreak iOS 12.5.7.
@@SA2180yes you can
What a waste
@SA2180 you can, but it takes a lot of patience with trial and error
iOS 10 wasn’t its native iOS anyways 🤷🏼♂️🤷🏼♂️ iOS 12 at least made the phone significantly faster.
i have used my iPhone 6s since 2018 to now to this day still and havent changed, its so beastly, the iphone 6s model includes the pink color on the back, but besides that it had many updates, and las like 32 GB or storage, still works beastly and quite smooth, cuz of this, if i ever got a different phone, i wouldnt want it to be looking exactly liek the iphone 6s like my one, then it will look nice!
I still only have an iPhone 6 because I kinda spent my money on bikes which I think is way better than a phone but I still need need to get a new one
P.S. I do not rate Apple's newer phones due to the lack of basic features required (such as a headphone jack and fingerprint scanner - even the Galaxy A50 has an in screen fingerprint sensor) and the severe lack of repairability to 3rd parties, including end users.
for around $30-40 usd this is a great deal ngl.i'd consider this over an android phone that costs the same (for phone calls and social media apps)
Miss this phone era. 6 edge was so beautiful too, Galaxy Note.
my cousin still uses this phone , baffles me that she’s able to do pretty much anything (at face value) that an older iphone can, not including hardware and quality ect
I am still on iPhone X purchased back in 2017, still running smooth and amazing.
My first iPhone was the 6+ and I loved it. Now I am on the 15 Pro Max :3
I still use an iphone 8. It got upgrades until now. Great phone.
Same here, I have a 8 Plus since 2019 💪🏻😎🔝
I used a hand me down Iphone 6 from around 2017-2020.
You shouldn’t have updated it from iOS 10
it hurts sm to see an ios 10 iphone 6 get upgraded to ios 12 :/
I had this phone when it was new back in 2014. And I remember knowing that it was super reliable when it came out but as time went on, the battery was horrible and the screen was way too dim to use outside. Even at full brightness. Now I basically use it as an iPod. I did get the 32GB and it’s still works. I changes the battery, not that hard, and it is next to my desktop connected to my Spotify car thing in order to have my primary phone charging or updating. Sadly I’m not sure how long it will continue to surviving on ios12 but it still works even after 9 years
Battery was horrible on the 6 but, always was reliable
@@riley1733 Mine could last maybe a day, with incredibly light usage.
I charged it up to 100% at 10 am and by 10pm it only dropped to 75%
People hunt down eBay and other sites to finally get an iPhone with a rare iOS version and you just casually updated it from iOS 10 to 12.. Well that was painful to watch :D
as a bakcup / secondary phone, i still have an iPhone 6 Plus (64GB) which I purchased as a "Used phone" back in 2016.. and until now it is still usable. and the battery was never been replaced since it was purchased by the first owner back in it's release date.
watching you update from ios 10 was painful
kinda weird to think back in 2014 i bought a original iphone for $60 and now today these are worth that much felt like yesterday i bought that damn thing still have it too
I used one for a month last year while on vacation in Cuba because I didn't want to bring my 12 and it's still very usable
it kinda hurts seeing an iphone 6 on ios 10 being updated to ios 12 making it slow
Such a shame, was one of a kind
My grandma still uses her iPhone 6. I googled some things on it for her and it was weird how random apps and websites don’t work but otherwise the phone functioned perfectly since she didn’t need it for much more than a flip phone that sometimes took photos
my mom still uses one😅, bought brand new in 2019, the 32gb one. whatsapp is no longer updated, so is netflix and other apps
The form factor is elegant. I have my 6s with OS 14.5 and new battery. So slim and light.
I still love this design. They could make a version with AMOLED, a bigger battery and a new processor.

The iphone 6s is my favourite phone. It was my first phone, second-hand from my Dad. Now I have a galaxy s6 edge plus. I'm sticking with the classics
Don't forget the notorious "Bendgate" issue with the iPhone 6. Hopefully, yours won't do that anytime soon 😅
Dont sit on your phones
It was a problem with the plus version more than with classic
Bendgate lol. Never seen one bend in real life usage, extremely overrated problem. It's really unlikely to happen if you actually value your possesions and don't treat them like shit
Too many Fat azzes is the problem ;)
I upgraded from an iPhone 6 16 gig to iPhone 12 mini 32 gig. I loved it but after 8 years, a lack of updates made me upgrade

I still have my iPhone 6. Mine is a 64 GB model. It still works. I have replaced the battery twice. It's still at 100%.
I Had Mine Since 2014. I Still Have It With Me, But I Now Use 11 Pro Max Which I Got For My B-Day Back In 2019 BC Apparently My Older Sis Told Me I Needed An Upgrade, Lol. Crazy How I Only Had 2 Phones, The 6 & The 11 Pro Max.
I recently bought a restored 6S with a new battery with the intention to use as my daily device. I used it for a day and then went back to my modern android phone. It was simply too slow and painful to use. It also got super hot and drained battery very quickly when I was actively using it.
YOOOO I LITERALLY JUST USED AN IPHONE 6 WHEN THIS WAS UPLOADED
Video starts at 4:36 btw
Thanks
I have an iPhone 6s that I still use as my secondary
why'd you update it?! it's so hard to find iPhone's on older versions of iOS like the one you have (iOS 10)...
Take 5 from the basis that it is impossible for the system to exceed 10
I had the IPhone 6s plus in Middle School, I still remember that being the coolest phone (IMO) that came out before the IPhone X
I have the original 6 Plus when it first came out and still use it here and there. Still a great phone. Got a dozen of the 6 a month ago and they all got sold in 24 hours after posting them on ebay and Mercari. So people still buy these for spare phones or for nolgastic reasons.
0:07 "If you had one of these, you were pretty cool"
I did have one of these and I clearly remember people thinking mine was fake because I was using iOS 9's lower power mode and my battery symbol was orange. This was still new so it wasn't a known thing that an orange icon meant lower power mode back then HAHA
Had one in early 2015. It was so smooth on its original iOS 8.
one thing that i dislike about new iPhones is that i find the pics very washed out compared to my vibrant 5
Uhh i still use it 💀💀
how is the battery life??
As someone born in 2014, I feel old.
I just had to put a new battery in my SE2. The battery life with the ifixit battery is a lot better. I’m very happy with it.
I can’t believe you updated it :(((
I´m glad to see not only android phones from 2014 struggle greatly these days.
But running android 13 on a HTC One M8 definitely is fun
sorry for the random as hell comment but Aldi does mobile in some countries???
These phones are still great, I use a 128gb iPhone 7 as a "music and smart home" phone, basically an iPod with my music library and apps for my router and such. Still very capable of running the current apps. And so small and nifty you forget how phone manufacturers used to focus on designing them small or slim.
