    I fetched mine today from the winter store, bought my bike in May last year. Now I have again 5-6 months to ride before the next winter, living in Finland. I totally agree with you. I bought mine for the same reasons.

      I would LOVE to visit Finland on my Speed Twin, but being in the USA this seems very unlikely. It's always good to hear from another Speed Twin owner!

    There is a simplicity and cleaned of design on your Triumph that is very appealing. You are also correct that the power and smooth transmission are incredible. I could see this bike as a commuter or something to jump on for a nice ride after a stressful day at work. You made a good choice.

    To me, the dial gauges suggest a high-quality watch or expensive analog instrument gauges. Unfortunately, they're angled such that they're difficult to see in bright sunlight.

    • @TrekkieMoto
      @TrekkieMoto  15 дней назад

      I haven't found them to be tremendously difficult in sunlight. Much depends on your helmet visor, I guess, although I use a clear one. The dials are definitely a premium feature.

    Had mine a year from new. It's a keeper. Bad points is a short list: Weight (I'm old!); turning circle; rear access (chain, swingarm etc hard to get to for daily chores). Think that's it.

    The parts manager at the Triumph Dealership here in Escondido, California said to me on a recent visit: "have you seen the new Speed Twin? It'll knock your socks off !!"
    I respect his opinion; he's an amateur m/c racer.
    However my Bonneville T120 that I purchased new in 2022 has about a year of payments to be made before she's totally mine. $15,000 was the price I paid. And also, I'm somewhat miffed by the welded-on Cat Conerter on new Triumphs.
    I paid a shop $600 to decat my Bonnie & replace it with a cross pipe. Any performance upgrades in California are a challenge to make happen because of the stricter clean air laws here.
    Maybe, I'd consider an older Speed Twin in the future.

    I've recently purchased a 2019 model in red and grey tank trim it looks fantastic and your so right about the torque slowing down just drop off the throttle it slows itself down its my first modern triumph and I love it good video 👍

      The red and grey is gorgeous. I almost went for it myself, but decided on something a bit more low key. I guarantee you will love this bike and never want to get rid of it.

    The positives far outweigh any minor negatives. The only thing left on my list, to get the last little bug worked out, is to load in a DNK Tuneworks ECU flash into the bike. I ride at sustained high speeds above 80mph alot, and above 5000rpms in 6th gear there's just not much left. The factory tune limits the throttle response in this area.

    • @TrekkieMoto
      @TrekkieMoto  2 года назад +2

      I rarely get it up over 50!

    • @andrewbecker3700
      @andrewbecker3700 2 года назад +2

      @@TrekkieMoto I went up a tooth on the front sprocket, but when I'm cruising at around 85-90mph. which is almost everytime I ride, the factory tune severely limits the throttle response above 5000rpms. Montana is like its own country! Lol.

      Seems like the smart thing to do. 👍🏻

  • @toradog5719
    @toradog5719 Год назад +1

    I ride the freeways in California and we drive at 80 here. It's very smooth until you near 4k rpms and then it gets quite buzzy, like the Japanese high winders.

      I've never been to California, but you're right about the vibration over 4,000 rpm.

    Did u clarify 1200 or 900cc? (Later, I noticed the twin front discs of the 1200.) I had a 2017 T120 & now considering a T100 or Speed Twin 900. What are your thoughts?

    • @TrekkieMoto
      @TrekkieMoto  9 месяцев назад

      When this video was made, the Speed Twin 900 was called the Street Twin. If I had to choose between the Speed Twin 900 and the T100, I would definitely get the baby Speed Twin because I prefer the way it looks. Cheaper too!

      I did, yes. It makes you giddy with excitement when you roll on the throttle.

  • @stevethackery9853
    @stevethackery9853 7 месяцев назад +1

    Why on earth do you keep blipping the throttle when the bike is stationary? There's a throttle stop built into the throttle body which is carefully designed to keep the engine running at the optimum idle speed. I suggest you familiarise yourself with it. 😂

    • @TrekkieMoto
      @TrekkieMoto  7 месяцев назад +3

      For no other reason than it feels really satisfying to blip the throttle. 🤷🏻‍♂️
