Near Medaryville Indiana is a graveyard called Independence Cemetery about 3 miles west. There is a section of graves going back to the 1800's. The Methodist built a log cabin church early when it started but it burnt down. Then around 1860 they built a new church that is still standing. It's about 40 minutes from Valparaiso and you can find online info about the place. Hope you can visit this place.

I was watching my Big Screen 80" TV and stumbled across the video. The presentation is nicely done. As an aside, I knew a one Tom Gossett. He owned a grain elevator up in Durand, Michigan with another man. It was very successful. He told the story of growing up near Detroit. His father was a very successful executive with Ford. He said his father would come home with his Ford papers and has little time for him. I was raised on a farm and as a young teenager going with grain to the elevator listened to his stories.
He told of getting on a private airplane with some Ford sisters and told them he wanted to be a farmer. He said they had nothing but disdain for his thoughts of farming. 😂
He sold his half of the business and moved to Vancouver, Canada. I've never seen him since. I was told he stopped by the elevator years later. I'm near 80.
I'm a drafted, disabled, and 1968 Republic of Vietnam combat veteran. Our government is no longer a Republic. Just read the "Federal Register." All our states now have shameful Registers where the laws are now made. God bless.

Logansport, Indiana had a Civil War cemetery near the Eel River when I was a kid. They moved it when the land was being utilized for some improvements.

@@gloriamartin6261 I'm 68 years old we found the Civil War cemetery walking through the woods going fishing when I was 13. It had a wrought iron fence around it, surrounded by thick woods.
Many years later after coming home for good from serving as a Marine, I went to see the cemetery. But it was gone as was the woods, in place were office buildings ,apartments. I asked they said they moved it but never found out where.

I'm a Gunder by birth but most of my relatives are in Graceland or in Chesterton. Grandparents lived on IN 2 at the old Lake Eliza crossroads, across from the meeting hall. Grace was known as the Apple Lady, or the Christmas tree lady. Some family history around, but I sure have enjoyed and appreciate your exploring these lesser known and somewhat forgotten resting places. Thank you!
