I remember my mom making us Banquet pies back in the 60's and they were really good then. All food brands have lost their quality, compared to 50 years ago. Fast foods included.
These companies are using cheaper items, in these products and they are not as good, for example, using cheap margarines instead of butter, leaving sugar out of many cereals, etc and the list goes on
As a newlywed, I kept two pot pies in the freezer. If I wanted to eat out, Id tell my husband we were having pot pies for supper. He refused to eat them. Hello restaurant!
I just had one of these tonight for supper. I have NO complaints ! Crust ? Tender, flaky and briwned top and bottom. Veggies ? Plenty of everything. Gravy/sauce ? Not to thin and not to rhick....ideal. Will I buy this again ? As soon as I can get to the stoe. Thank you Marie Callenders for making a VERY good product.
Kfc pot pies are so good that I eat 2 of them with a Pepsi and a chocolate chip cookie for dessert , pot pies are my favorite food and make me feel comforted !!!!! Which is why I can’t lose weight !!!!!
Eating 2 at one time is a big flash as to why you may not be able to lose weight. As one pot pie lover to another, controlling portion size helps to lose weight. Its not about calories. Its about portion-control
Back in 1968 when I was 10 years old my mom would shop at Winn Dixie every 2 weeks. Banquet pot pies were 4 for a $1.00 every day price and some times on sale 6 for a $1.00. How the times have changed.
yep---they sure have gotten pricy---$1.29 at my supermarket. I will try to save up and then treat myself. I also try to serve them on Christmas day if possible but we usually split them into 4ths because of that excessive price.
Sometimes I will throw a few banquets in the basket for backup. Had one this week, taste good, almost zero nutrition, so I counted the $1.29 gave me 4 peas, why because peas are cheap and could add nutritional fillers to rave reviews--if you seriously like them for kids sometimes, have a bag of frozen peas handy and at mid-bake, fork split the top and spoon in some, comes out great.
Having grown up eating Banquet pot pies since the 1960s, I can honestly say they are the best for the money. I have never eaten them regularly but one every now and then reminds me of those old times.
It's because they have weak minds and were brainwashed into being a vegan. They really want meat. But are too stupid to realize that a little meat is very healthy for an overall diet.
My Grandma was just saying she used to enjoy eating Horn and Hardart's beef and chicken pies years ago. But that company went out of business a long time ago she said. Does anyone else remember these pies that Grandma is talking about?
I liked the Swanson and Banquet ones as a kid as a grown-up I make them myself. Leftover chicken, pork, turkey or beef from a Sunday roast or grilling is best. In a pinch use a rotisserie chicken. I make the gravy from my own stock but purchased can work too. I admit I use Aldi's Belmont frozen crust. It's tender flaky and so easy. I add a frozen mixed veggies pre cooked potatoes salt pepper Dill Parsley to taste. Frozen ones will taste like cardboard in comparison 😋
A couple of our local churches still make pot pies that can be frozen and cooked later; They are not precooked. They contain only chicken and white sauce. That is how pot pies were made when I was a child…no veggies.
I concur with your rating of Boston Market Pot Pies being the best. If you can catch them on sale, you will have a bargain. KFC is good too but they can be a little dry if you eat all the crust like I love to do.
And once again, I'm reassured that I have excellent taste LOL. But seriously, the Boston Market chicken pot pie is definitely the best supermarket pot pie. I have not yet had KFC though - I hear those are to die for.
I watched this video just to see if Boston Market's Chicken Pot Pie made it to the top of your list, and there it is! It's not as widely available as Marie Callender's, but it's worth searching for. It's also slightly less expensive than MC's.
My favorite chicken pot pie is from Achatz! It rhymes with "jackets." It's the best one I've ever had. I love mine with shredded cheese and Mrs Dash! 😍😎 They also have fruit and dessert pies!!!💯
I grew up with banquet chicken and beef pot pies and they were more filled than todays pot pies. I tried some 10 yrs ago and I was disappointed. I don't buy them anymore.
Once you've been exposed to meat pies from English bakeries, you won't be able to stomach this junk in the frozen food section of American supermarkets. An English meat pie is super flavorful, filling, and has plenty of good stuff inside the crust. American pot pies have thick crust and very little inside, and the little that's there has no flavor. Just say no!
I've often said it's a shame that meat pies never really caught on in America the way they did there. Or even like the steak and cheese pies from Australia. It's a damn shame we just don't have any real good option other than making our own.
No mention of the best pot pies made.Tthe Brand name is BLAKES. It's crust is puff pastry. There is a chicken potpie and a beef pot pie. The meats in both are large chunks. Definitely not minced. The beef reminds me of a beef wellington . It's that good.
I remembered when I was a kid, my parents had gotten some frozen dinners and pot pies from this old company called Morton, which happened to make an actual, decent pot pie. The Marie Callender's pot pies were my absolute favorites, a long time ago too. 😋♥️🫓🍗🧅🥕🌽🫑🍅
Banquet pies had the best flavor of chicken, veggies and gravy and crust, but they were too small unless you ate 3 of them at once. All the Banquet dinners were the best for the money, but those too you had to eat 2 of them to feel full.
My Mother fed us 6 kids and Dad "Swanson" chicken pot pies before a long drive from NYC to Chicago. We all got botulism. Used a Holiday Inn bathroom as a vomitorium... In the tub, in the sink, all of us at once. Good times.
We prefer the Costco chicken pot pie. It's not one of these tiny thing that takes 2 to fill you up. It's huge, and will easily feed a family of 4 for 2 days. About $22.00 to $24.00 by the way. Well worth the price. Plus they aren't frozen & takes about 45 minutes to cook. I'm hungry just thinking about it.
Always ate Swanson growing up. Still my choice. May not be the best but takes me back in time. Liked them better in the aluminum pans….these should not be microwaved.
I agree. There is just something about the flavor of BM CPP that I don't like. I tried various flavors of MC, the only ones I like are chicken and turkey. The beef chunks feel weird and rubbery.

Don't forget the beef flavor! I was practically raised on Marie Callender's pot pies. 😁🥧

Marie Calendar's traditional chicken pot pie is OK..where it's at is the beef stew pot pie!! Sooooo good!! Big chunks of beef too!

Blake's all-natural chicken pot pie comes in both regular and gluten-free versions. Good especially if you want no weird chems & preservatives.

Using artificial coloring and seasoning to make it look like meat is very weird.
Because they are vegans for certain reasons, ethics or health, but they still like the taste of meat.
Because over 11 billion animals have been slaughtered this year alone.
Many of us don't dislike meat, we just hate the brutal treatment and slaughtering of beautiful beings, so many of us just cannot support it🥴
