I'll keep you guys up to date with changes to the pro, yep. My newest and biggest on RUclips tire test series is coming soon. We have a LOT of tires to test and these two will both be included :)
True enough, but it didn't seem to help! For what it's worth, I am familiar with these rocks and set the courses myself so I wasn't learning new sequences in the drives. But you're right, I should have mixed it up a bit. Cheers
You've given yourself a tough decision there Craig. My tought with the SCX10 Pro would either be longer rear shocks to increase the breakover angle and ride height or if you can adjust the rear ride height with shock collars. The only adjustment I'd make to your Injora rig is to runn more droop, mainly as it looks less stable sidehilling than the Pro. Best of luck during the comp, keep the great videos coming please. Your channel is definately one of my favourites. Cheers buddy.
I really like your video. Good job and great crawling location as well. Would like to see how it turns out with the longer shocks and a small droop. I’ve been thinking the same for my trx4.
No worries! There was a guy at our last comp who had the Traxxas Long Link Kit that comes with tut bigger shocks too, but he'd kept the 1.9 wheels and 4.6" tires. Had the shock springs as light as possible and it was something of a semi-droop setup. Seemed to work alright. Been thinking of trying that myself!
That break over on the pro has me concerned. At this point, I would take the Injora build. You seem to be more comfortable driving it. Great video! I am looking forward to seeing how the pro does with the upgrades. Good luck!
Thanks for the video, real interesting to see! I'm comping with mine for the first time this weekend, so we'll see how it goes. What I've found is that you have to use the lower CG to your advantage especially when it comes to ledges like the one you got hung up on, it seems like if you came in at angle, you might could've hooked the rear right tire and pulled it over without hitting the gate. The lower CG will let you pull lines like that a little easier without flipping over. I've found the belly and such slides really well once you get it over the hump, but it can sometimes hang up in the bend on the rear links also. Everything looks different on camera, though, so maybe not. I'll be curious to hear how changing out the shocks works out for you too.
I'd drive the rigs in the opposite order. Start with that you think is the best and finish with the worst. This way the experience you gain from running the courses doesn't affect the performance of the better rigs. Also helps people realize that if you drive a less built car enough, you can compete with a close to stock car too and do well.
Noticed you mentioned overdrive, and though it might be worth it to do an overdrive/no overdrive A/B testing as a video idea, just like your tyre one - The biggest crawler channel on youtube has done one, and the conclusion was OD actually harmed the crawling & climbing ability, especially on low traction surfaces (dust). Would be interesting to see the same test replicated on the terrain you use under comp rules, as his was just whether it could crawl up at all. He used a VS10-4 to switch OD on and off - your SCX10 pro has underdrive on demand either manually or via servo, so you could test that out.
Interesting, thanks for the idea! My short answer is that o/d helps on anything that needs the front to lead - turns, ledges and steps where you need to 'thread the needle' so to speak with steering and careful throttle; o/d harms on regular crawling as it hampers the rear from pushing the rig forward. Really, it depends on the terrain. I think I could make a solid demonstration of how it both helps and harms. Thanks again, I'll think on it as a video idea. Cheers
I would run the same course until you know the best lines......then run each truck several times to see which one you're fastest and most comfortable with. Cannot wait for my SCX10 Pro body to arrive so I can crawl with it. Best of luck on the decision making process and future comps!
U should see if u can find some curved link bars that will fit the gs02f maybe the axial links might fit and maybe try two stage foams in the tires to and see if it will help
Thanks :) Bent lower links would be helpful. I've tested 12 sets of tires on this thing before, several with dual stage foams. The GS02F is one heck of a performer for its class! I used it in my wet tire test last year and it was epic: ruclips.net/video/EtjboFfQsT0/видео.html

Thanks John, you're right, I could have done so. For what it's worth, at time of filming I had run 11 different vehicles through 27 courses total in the prior 5 days (I just counted!). We had a comp and I batch filmed several videos on either side of it, as I'm getting my channel prepared to run on its own for a month. This was the last of them. I drove with care but not without trying to keep the pace up - videos just get too long otherwise. For what it's worth, I was consistent with both rigs here, too fast or not, so the end result of getting a fair comparison is the same! (Or, it sounded good in theory anyway)
Hm, in both stock form and modded, they're similar in performance and potential. A little bit off topic, thoughts on best RTR 1/10 crawler?? The VS4-10 RTR and Sendero HD are my 2 frontrunners, tough choice. Great content as usual! One day i'll build a kit up from scratch
Best RTR crawler, if you're after crawling ability, is the Ecto or Base Camp, I think. I have videos for those, plus the two you mentioned. In a few days there's a video coming that compares the Ecto to the Sendero HD on two comp courses in the gorge nearby here. Trx4 Sport is popular for good reason also. This video will give you an idea of comparative performance, too: ruclips.net/video/psFjmvRa2Mc/видео.html

@@RCTNT that’s awesome. I have two and enjoy the heck out of them. They have give me two first places in the last six months in a field of almost 30 competitors. Good rigs!
It really depends on what you want to do. The scx10 pro is very good, as is the TRX4 Sport - but they're very different. I guess that's why I make all these videos. Have a look at my reviews for the various ones, you can see how they drive on the same course, how they handle, etc.
It would be interesting to see the TRX4 sport with heavy wheels and without the roof rack. Off course it won't be as good as the comp rigs. But it would be fun to compare. :) Nice video, I enjoyed it as always. 👍
@@RCTNT thanks 👍 my curiosity was actually aimed at if the TR4 sport would get closer to the comp rigs with heavier wheels and less top weight. :) (Perhaps it wouldn't, but it would still be interesting to see how much it could improve with those simple mods. And to see the difference between a 'regular' build with minor upgrades does vs a 'true' comp rig) :)
The gmade GS02F may be a reasonable stand in here then. I didn't notice until I was on location that the GS02F had 440g in wheels under it - similar to giving the TRX4 the same - and we saw that it got closer to the comp rigs. The gmade has built in overdrive and is less durable but more technically proficient out of the box (or after being built, electronics being equal) than the TRX4. And for what it's worth, the gmade also was running the same electronics as the Sport in this video. In short, these rigs can get close. The more serious comp rigs leave the more regular rigs behind in that last 10 or 15% of performance. The value isn't anywhere near as good as the cheaper kits and RTR options, as your cost steeply jumps when you start getting specialised, but the distance is definitely there! Cheers :)

It needs a little more weight, is that what you meant? Interestingly, the winning rigs at bigger comps I've attended are typically 1.4kg to 1.6kg total. The scx10 pro is 1.8kg in the config I've posted here, though that heavy FOC system could be replaced with a lightweight outrunner and lighter ESC for 0.2kg+ weight saving. I'll keep tinkering with it this year anyway and we'll see where we end up!

Absolutely, yes, not unbiased. The GMade GS02F had 440g in wheels under it. I had the Sport in stock form - no weights or any advantages added to it. I added it out of interest and for a rough comparison only. This video is really about the SCX10 Pro and how it compares to the others. If that sounds interesting, you can check it out here: ruclips.net/video/psFjmvRa2Mc/видео.html Thanks for watching, my friend!
Was not trying to be mean I just think when I am watching these VS videos that all trucks should be set up the same all stock or all custom but having a truck in half droop , one full droop one no droop one stock rtr is not not a true comparison sorry
Ah I see! For what it's worth here, the Sport and GS02F are fully stock, no changes to either, except I didn't notice the GS02F had 440g under it in wheels until I already was at the gorge. I was filming 3 different videos that day and it was just too late to charge that. The scx10 pro was also fully stock, all three of these kits were built to specification in the manuals. That's a fair comparison from that point of view, aside from the GS02F having weighted wheels, which is regrettable. The yellow rig is built from many parts. It's not a kit, though the axles are from the raw builders kit. It's included here as a reference, after all the work recently getting it overhauled (video links in description). I do actually have a number of balanced, fair comparisons of stock rigs on the same course, such as these: Sport vs GS02F ruclips.net/video/-yfV3vBZFbY/видео.html Sport, Ecto, Base Camp & Pioneer ruclips.net/video/psFjmvRa2Mc/видео.html
I used to think that too, but it doesn't make a huge difference, I've found: ruclips.net/video/hizKVssLFyw/видео.html Really this video was about which of the two comp rigs to take north, but with better cog the Sport is undeniably a performer, as we all know :)
lol thanks, though I broke no less than 5 of them at ECCF late last month, Australia's biggest crawling event for 2023. Didn't break everything though and came home with a podium finish for one of the two classes where I didn't have a failure, but geez P/Scale was rough in particular! Busted the INJORA Custom rig here and then did the rear diff in the SCX10 Pro! Rough day in the office, that one. Video round-up from the comp coming soon, I've only been home from the trip a few days :) Great time though! Cheers
I hope you make a video of the pro with the changes you're going to try. I'd also like to see a you test the landmines vs trenchers on the same rig.

I do actually have a number of balanced, fair comparisons of stock rigs on the same course, such as these:
Sport vs GS02F ruclips.net/video/-yfV3vBZFbY/видео.html
Sport, Ecto, Base Camp & Pioneer ruclips.net/video/psFjmvRa2Mc/видео.html
You need to take all that crap off the top of the sport, not a good comparison with the other 3 not having any... Good video though.
I used to think that too, but it doesn't make a huge difference, I've found:

Really this video was about which of the two comp rigs to take north, but with better cog the Sport is undeniably a performer, as we all know :)
@@RCTNT Yes sir.. I think the basecamp did the best overall, but it was definitely real close! Good luck which ever one you take!!!
No base camp in this video! The pro you mean? In either case it was sure close! I think I'm spoiled for choice really. Thank you!
You have some really nice crawlers…keep up the good videos..
lol thanks, though I broke no less than 5 of them at ECCF late last month, Australia's biggest crawling event for 2023. Cheers
@@RCTNT do a video of that event ECCF that would be cool! I want to see how Aussies crawl lol
