Wow, again and again I'm impressed to learn about new 'hidden' features inside the Keystep 37. Actually never used real-time recording inside the Keystep. Partly due to the limitations you mention and solve here, partly because it was simply not self-explanatory and I was too lazy to look it up in the manual... Once you get it, it's super simple and convenient. Otherwise you don't even notice there is such a feature inside the Keystep :D
My sync out was playing clicks every 1/16 per beat which is almost impossible to record to. In case anyone else has this issue you can open MIDI Control Center and change "Sync Clock IN/OUT Settings" From 1 step (Clock) to 1 pulse (korg) and it switches it to 1/8 clicks like in the video. Great Video. THANKS!!!

Be careful using the sync out directly into a speaker or amp. Sync voltage is generally 5 volts, audio amplifiers are usually expecting a maximum peak-to-peak signal of 2 volts. You could damage your speakers or amplifier like this. You could easily reduce the voltage to safe levels with a simple voltage divider or a few diodes in series if you have the possibility to solder a couple of components together. At any rate, I wouldn't recommend playing the sync signal on your favorite bluetooth speaker or a hi-fi system; earbud headphones will probably be damaged immediately.
@@truedanbo Do you know, can I play 2 sequences on two different midi channels at the same time? For example, having recorded a sequence for the midi ch1 will switch to ch2 and record it in another slot too?
@@montenote Hi Mountech, I don't think you can sequence two channels. However, you can have current sequence playing while using Kbd Play to play on top of that.

When I read the user manual and discovered we have to press a number of keys together to ERASE...the keys bear no resemblence to erasure. With a bit if forthought Arturia could have done this by hitting the SHIFT button and then the ERASE button! It should not have been that difficult to have designed the thing ti be user friendly. Shift is normally the one to hit first before anything is erased. Of course this is not your fault. Excellent work and thank you.
If a specific bpm value isn't needed, I think it would be easiest to simply use a loop pedal, activated with foot. But alternative methods (such as demonstrated here) are good to know.
The looper is good if you want to "burn in" the patch with the phrase. This technique is good if you want to manipulate the patch in real time with the host synth. Both are very useful to know.
You can also delete all steps by pressing record, rest, stop buttons one after the other while the sequencer is not playing. This sets it back to one empty step.

How about though, setting up a sequence from the bass thru the 37 but also a sequence on the bass itself, switch midi channel to the kick and play notes from it on the 37 at the dame time. Can that be done? Thanks.
Hi - So I've got everything syncing perfectly, the transport starts all the gear....BUT....I have one issue that I can't find a solution for - When I press PAUSE or STOP on the Keystep, ALL the clocks in the synths go back to their internal clocks instead of being controlled by the Keystep. When I press PLAY again, the clocks go back to syncing to the Keystep. So put simply, the Keystep is only sending clock when the PLAY button is pushed. Is there a way to avoid that?
Maybe you can check the midi control center software for options like Transport settings : Play/pause. If that doesn't work, check whether your synth setting has sync option to switch to MIDI/sync instead of internal clock?
@@truedanbo Thanks for the reply. Ya, its not the synth issue because that is already switched to the external clock source. Its the Keystep that stops sending clock when stop or pause is pressed.
