Thank you, very kind. I really think of the Moogs as musical instruments - as much as a piano or other traditional instrument. They are very expressive! - sorry for the late response.
Thank you, very kind! It surprises me, too. Moogs always seem very expressive to me but was surprised how I got comfortable with the small keyboard on the KeyStep.
Hi @TheEpiphonesheraton2 - it's a great combo - portable, sounds awesome, and with the sequencer and arp in the KeyStep there are lots of options. Thanks for writing!
Thank you very much Silverfox! I really love the sound of the Mother 32. I'm a big fan of the Moog sound and it always surprises me how the Mother 32 captures all the musicality that I find in Moog synths. It's a really cool instrument! Appreciate your comment and thank you for checking out the video!
Hi @Gunnarvestlund2729 - Thank you for listening, I keep trying to find new things to do with this set up and it is always a lot of fun. The Moog Mother is a fantastic synth!
Hi @ATJ-sTAt - I agree, hard to feel like what I do approaches the great stuff of the masters. But just sitting and playing that little Moog is so much fun, that's worth something in itself, I think. Thank you for listening! All the best to you!
This is beautiful. I instantly fell in love with not only your playing, but now I'm tempted to buy the Mother 32! Would you mind if I used this song for a project I'm making with some friends in the near future? You'd be credited! It's just for a school project and I feel like this song would be the perfect fit for an intro! Keep up the amazing playing! -A new subscriber
@@JimHegartyMusic Replica. It adds the magic (to filter strip interaction). Was very excited using it lots, now somehow forgot. It works the best with purity of analogue tones.
Hi @BJ-fj6jw all the sounds are coming from the Moog. There is some delay or reverb in the computer. The KeyStep doesn't make any sound. It is just a controller that sends out voltages that make the Moog play a note and change pitch.
I really have been going back and forth between this and the subsequent 37. I'm making a psychadelic/prog album and the VST's just don't cut it. Moog synths sound massive. Only problem is, every damn video is another arp sequence and nobody is actually playing a keyboard. This is what I needed to hear. Someone playing a lead melody and not a 15 minute video of the same sequence repeating over and over and over with the filter getting tweaked. So thank you.
Hi @lycosa2000! Glad this was helpful. A friend of mine has the Subsequent 37. I haven't played it but what he gets out of it sounds really rich and big and impressive. I like the Mother a lot and think for the money it is an incredible synth but with only one oscillator there are things it just can't do that might be useful to you like detuning or octaves/5ths. But for really soaring leads and bass the Moog sound is perfect and the Mother can do that really well.
The reverb is the Valhalla DSP Shimmer Reverb which I am adding in the DAW. So not totally hardware based. Thank you very much for listening to my music - I really love the Moog Mother 32. Amazing instrument. Best wishes to you!
Over read your video :) I'm getting into getting more gear myself (these 2 pieces) + a new MacBook pro :D I had to upgrade my whole studio // these 2 pieces should compliment eachother in my new studio :)
I understand the upgrade situation! Makes me reluctant to make the move to another computer. I would need to buy new audio interfaces and all new software. Yikes!
The Keystep Pitch out goes to the Moog VCO 1v/Oct to control the pitch The Keystep Gate out goes to the Moog Gate (near bottom left) to trigger the envelope The Keystep Mod out goes to the Moog VCF Cutoff to control the filter frequency Thank you very much for checking out my video. Sorry for the slow reply.
The delay is in the computer. It is Native Instruments Replika. It's part of the basic Kontakt package and I like it and use it alot. Thank you for writing!
Hi @gregory7572! I really like "Everything in its right place" too! The original is so cool I was reluctant to try it but back during the pandemic I made a piano/electronic "virtual concert" and did a jam on it. Not what you're looking for but yes, I have tried to approach that composition. I feel my piano version lacks the intensity of the original but FWIW here's the link. Thank you very much for listening and I apologize for the excessively long delay in responding. ruclips.net/video/MKpU2HpBYEA/видео.html
The M32 doesn't have any onboard fx. According to the description text, it comes from Native Instruments Replika, which "two professional quality delays and a powerful diffusion algorithm into a sleek, streamlined interface"
I bought the Valhalla DSP Shimmer Reverb. I thought $50 was a lot at the time but I'm really glad I did it. His reverbs are superb and the hype and all is definitely true. He has some free downloads, too, that are really awesome. Thanks for checking out my vid! Best wishes to you!
Finally someone actually playing the thing and not making a terrible house or trance or whatever other EDM crap with it. I've been wanting to see what it sounds like as a real synth, u know with a keyboard and notes being played. I hate that the main use for synths now a days is that electronic dance music shit. Thanks for this. I want one.
Thank you very much, I really feel the Moogs are true musical instruments. But they are also very versatile so people can use them in many different ways. As a keyboard player, I like to jam on it and it give back a lot of musical expression. That makes it really fun!
My least favourite Moog products. Im not a fan of any of these modules and have 8 of the damn things. The Subharmonicon is particularly useless. Trying to sell them but no one wants them. Understandable
Thank you @aaronhogg! The Moog Mother is an amazing little synth. So fun and inspiring to play. I was skeptical about the mini keys on the KeyStep and I still like full size keys but one benefit of these mini keys is that you can play really fast!
Nice to hear someone actually *playing the thing.
Yes agree its a real keyboardist awesome
Exactly.. Every time I try to find a demo of a particular synth, I just get people doing bleeps and bloops. So hard to find good content 😬

Fantastic, wish I had those skills. Does the m32 need retuning periodically? Thanks for the sounds
Yes, Mobo 32, is a synth, not just a techno-groove machine, as many people use it, and Moog does the demo...
Thanks - I agree, it is a performer's instrument as are all the Moogs that I've played. Very musical!
