I've been growing my hair out for about 8 months now, and while I'm enjoying having longer hair, I have to be honest: it's really inconvenient and annoying sometimes. Here are 5 reasons why I sort of hate having longer hairstyle.

The awkward phase can be so annoying...especially when you got THICC hair. I dig it, dude...refreshing to see something other than the faded undercut since most dudes like to rock that. I always have an innate respect when I see guys rock long hair lol

I’m in the awkward curly phase right now, but the only person to make jokes about it is my manager. He’s balding, so I believe he’s just jealous. I’m going grey, so I might as well enjoy having hair before I go bald too.

Hats are king when growing out your hair. I'll wear a hat for weeks if I can't make it to the barber or if I'm just lazy. I did the long hair thing while playing hockey and don't think I'll ever go back. I like my quick morning routine. But I do admire your dedication!

I have been growing my hair out for about 2 years now, started from a cesar cut. Now my hair is about shoulder lenght. While there are still some issues (e.g. if I am doing pushups, there are always [despite a ponytail, manbun or whatever] going to be some loose stands of hair flying in my face. However I would never trade my long hair back; it has so much styling options and it can look really cool. I am a big fan of the "Witcher" series and I really love it that I can style my hair in the way of the main character, especially because I am performing in an historical reenactment group.
Looking forward for the video with the reasons why long hair is awesome.
Btw: As a 163 cm guy (about 5.4 for US-Americans) I have to say that I absolutey adore the work you do, this is truly awesome.

For real, I'm 22 and I've letting my hair grow for a year and a half, maybe more, and I fucking love it, the only thing that bothers me is that I have 3C curly hair so it looks a lot shorter than it really is

Looking good man, I'm almost at the same point you're at with your hair journey. Hair creme and sea salt sprays (& hats) are my best friend 👍
The problems I face when I started growing out my hair:
The hair gets in your face as you’re eating food
Hair gets stuck in your lips or mouth
Longer time to wash your hair
That uncomfortable feeling when your wet hair sticks to your your neck or skin after showering (gets more tolerable when you get more used to it)
You can’t go outside in a windy day/place without your hair flying everywhere
This one is a bit personal but you get a lot of looks from people in public and it just makes me uncomfortable
Long hair doesn't suit for everyone. It depends on ur facial structure so yeah it sucks for some people!
Yeah I've been growing my hair out for about a year and a half-ish and these are all the reasons I'm cutting it. Probably gonna do something like a mullet. I love longer hair in the back and I like being able to open my eyes when im on a car ride.
Three years ago i grew my hair out to shoulder length, but there were more cons than pros, so i keep it short now.

Been growing mine for almost 2 years now and loving it. I started off doing a 1 year beard just to see how it would look and I trimmed it after the 1 year (I got a video time lapse of that), but decided to let the hair go long and I don't see myself going shorter. I'm 33 so figured I may as well enjoy it while it lasts. It definitely is more work, and I'm still experimenting with different routines and products etc.
I'm actually finding it easier to style my hair when it's longer. My hair is at about the length of yours in this video, and after I shower I just comb it and put it into place and let it dry and I don't need any products and it looks fine. I haven't needed to use products like I did with short hair.
Everyone has to endure that awkward phase. Press on. Don’t fold under pressure from the nay sayers. I have long, curly hair (8+ yrs - right at shoulders) and get way more compliments than criticism. Lots of women are jealous that I don’t have to pay for a perm! 😀 You look good with the long hair and I think you’ll look even better when it gets to shoulder length. 👍🏻

I’m growing my hair out too people think I look crazy but I’m on a one year no haircut challenge
I feel a bunch of these points. MY biggest issue with rocking the longer hair is the whole bother of sleeping. I either have to drape my hair over the pillow or put it up. If i don't then if i move, it will sometimes get caught under my shoulder/body. As for hair care, personally I just let my hair air dry and it's fine. I just maintain a steady wash and conditioning schedule and it works for me. I should probably go in for a clean up but right now, people are calling me aquaman so I think im good.

Man I have the exact same hair. Thick and wavy with some curls. It can be difficult to manage on some days, but it's cool because it's different from the more common haircuts these days
I agree with all of these cons since I was long-haired myself for 14 years (long hair like metal bands). My tip to any guys who want to walk the long hair road is to avoid it if they have low self-esteem issues. I had really low self-esteem for years, and the problem with long hair in men is that you get too much negative attention in public. Well, in rock concerts and bars you fit well but in any other place that demands some formality it's hard to manage the needs even if you style your hair with a formal ponytail. If you are insecure long hair won't help.

Had long hair since I was a little kid, right now my hair reaches my waistline, fucking worth it, the biggest reason it sucks imo is it is really damn warm, it's like constantly wearing a warm hat.

My hair to grow out and tie into a bun and it’s been 1 of the biggest pain in the ass of my life, with the awkward phase, takes forever to clean, gets in way and tickles, itches, sometimes wind ruins it and I look stupid and ugly, it’s dry frizzy and hard to tie after shower. All for that one moment of looking cool and edgy and distinguished. Can’t wait to get out of this phase and back to med short easy hair

I generally love longer hair. One of the reasons is that i have thick latin hair and getting a buzz cut is just wrong. I like to keep my sides and back short (Not a fade just short) while the top very long. It's long enough to eat lol. I do have to style it but I don't have to worry about hold as people like when my hair gets a little messy or worn down after a long day of work. The only time i need to keep my hair perfectly up is when i go to a formal event

It's odd you thought your hair was straight. Even while short, the thick waviness to it is just so obvious. MY hair is wavy and it's no where near that thick!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Regarding the topic on hand, I beg to differ when it comes to long hair I love my brown with/natural highlights hair, and yes I feel fortunate to have so much hair at 40yrs. old. Furthermore, let me explain I'm sporting my hair all the way down my lower back which I keep in a pony-tail. Having said that, my hair is as thick as yours but I have less forehead. On the other hand, when I'm at the facility where I work in several occasions I caught several doctors starring at my mane with a little envy in their eyes, plus some of my colleagues even say with a malicious manner "isn't time to get a haircut" which I respond by undoing my pony-tail and flipping it as I walk away. I work in the anesthesia department which allowed me to grow my hair to the length is now, since I wear a cap all day. Moreover, I wash my hair and I let it dry naturally as I drive my motorcycle to work. However, the best part is when I'm charting on one of my patients chart, some of the nurses like to braid my hair or just play with it and I LOVE iT. Lastly, every 6yrs or so I donate my hair to Locks of Love.........Abrazos

I hate that weird awkward stage of growing. When I was younger I grew my hair out whenever I could. The part that sucked was when I washed it, it looked too clean and was harder for to do anything with it, especially since I had curl in the front.
I am litterally now in that stage (also my hair tends to curl toward the ends)!! Could you give me some tips or tricks you might have learned during that time? ^^
pikasfed323 I just lived with the curl because at that time I didn’t know how to style my hair, I just let it hang down a lot. What you can do is use that curl to your advantage and use it to help style your hair. Try parting your hair and push your hair towards the back if you can, invest in a styling product that you like to help hold your hair in place. The main thing is to brush your hair out of your face while it’s damp and let it dry, you will need assistance in a product like sea salt spray to help keep your hair in place. Hope this helps.

I miss my long hair. I grew it past my shoulders. I had fun with it while it lasted.. for about 3-4 years. I had to shampoo it everyday because it gets greasy.

Yup that’s why I’ve been cutting my hair for the last 2 years. Sure I do look nice with long Afro hair but the upkeep is time consuming. So now I’m enjoying the shaved head and barber visits for awhile. People are upset every time when I cut it, learning not to respond and just nod 😐

Only reason I can't do long hair is because of my hairline. It's a bit receded on the sides, and I think longer hair makes this more prominent. I also can't just style it all back because of my hairline. Honestly I don't think it's so bad that other people even notice it, but it's just 1 thing I cannot stand about myself.

You DON'T need to use more shampoo with longer hair. The correct way to shampoo is to massage your scalp thoroughly and as you rinse, the shampoo with travel down your hair and that will properly cleanse your strands. Actually massaging your ends with shampoo will dry your hair out.

IMHO you definitely need a strong facial features to pull off long hair. I have a ton of hair but a round face and it looks hilarious when I grow it out. Yours looks good long.

It doesn't take more time to shampoo - literally just shampoo, rinse, and put conditioner on the ends, and rinse. I find that rinsing out GEL from short hair is much harder. However, you're 100% right about drying.. .its annoying as hell how long it takes to dry. It seems to be exponentially longer, not linearly, due to volume of moisture held in the hair increasing faster than the surface area. I'm at 8 months and same as you in this particular video.
Started growing my hair out some 14 months ago, it's curly/wavy, but rather thin/fine, so i got basically the worst combination possible for awkward phase, especially considering it grows super slow (started from a buzzcut, now it's chin length when stretched). I always had weird cowlick in the back, but ever since it grew out, and i got a middle part, it feels like there is a lot of hair missing. Should i buzz it off? I am 19 years old, i doubt it's balding, my hairline is perfectly healthy, but i just feel super self concious about it.
