I've spent close to three years growing my hair out and the experience of dating as a guy with long was very different to dating as a guy with short hair.

For younger long haired guys who think they get a lot of grief, just be glad you're not 70 years old. Talk about standing out! I turned 70 this year and almost no woman my age wants to date a guy with long hair. I've had long hair off an on all my life going back to the hippie days. I'm retired so I don't have to adhere to any dress or grooming code because of an employer. One of the nice things about getting older is you no longer care what others think. And at my age, I'm glad I still have a full head of hair to grow.

Try putting in a bun, buns look great for any male with long hair. Maybe even braid it like a Viking to give you a very masculine vibe.
You seem to have very straight hair like I do and one thing I never do is go out with my hair just completely down because my hair is very flat and has no volume so I just end up looking like Jesus lol.

@@RicardoRoams no problem with that. However, I would suggest trying other hairstyles as well since you still have a lot of hair for your age, be versatile with it.
I love men with long hair, for me, it is just SO much more attractive. Only really gorgeous men look attractive to me with short hair. I think the bad reactions come from people who are very conformist and are bothered by long hair because it doesn't match their stereotypes of what a "real man" should look like. And it just annoys me so much when I hear people who automatically assume that long hair is "dirty"... (Especially if it comes from a long-haired woman. I'm like... Seriously, you're a woman, you have long hair, are YOU dirty?)
I think one thing I like about long hair is that first, it has more personality. Short hair is so common, and it kind of hides the specificity of your hair (the colour, the texture, is it curly or wavy or straight...). I like diversity. I'm sure some guys don't even KNOW what their hair is like. Also, it simply complements most faces in an advantageous way. Short hair requires a really pretty face, which most people just don't have (you do, you looked good with short hair as well).
I think what attracts me the most about long hair is that it shows how comfortable a guy is with their masculinity and who they are. It suggests to me that they can take the stupid criticism long-haired men get, they can have the confidence to look "unusual", and they can say "fuck conformity and silly social norms", and just be themselves, and that's really attractive to me. And yeah, maybe it looks more "wild" and more "sexual", I don't know... I wouldn't say it is the main appeal to me, though. And I definitely don't see long-haired men as less serious or reliable, on the contrary.
Absolutely love this comment. I can definitely say my personality, self confidence and individuality have massively improved since growing my hair. I really like your point about people assuming that long hair is dirty just because it's on a man, that is definitely not the case but I'd never considered that before
This was an awesome reply. Agree totally. I’m growing my hair at the moment (usually have it slightly longer anyway), but get compliments for it. Using lockdown as an excuse. I know how to style and look after it so that helps.
I think that more guys should experiment.
Long hair might get a bad reputation because some guys grow their hair and do nothing about it. There’s bad long hair styles and there are bad short hairstyles. It’s all about the person in the end and how you wear it.

@@alexorlandocross I have heard that our hair is like antennas that gives us a 6th sense, that's why we become as intuitive as women when we grow our hair. This could be related to our personality geting stronger. I used to have long hair(till the shoulders' length) from 16 to 19 years old, and I absolutelly loved it! Growing it back again at 21!

Much like how I have the unusual preference of women with body hair, it's not a deal breaker but I like people that are actually comfortable with their natural body.

@@lukasg9031 if it's the first time, you're seeing someone and you solely reject them, because of short or long hair, I wouldn't think it would have anything to do with the hair..... I personally think, it would go much deeper than that, psychologically that is, because it's just hair and why reject somebody, because the hair, is either too long, or too short..... To me, that's an excuse somebody gives themself, for either not talking to the person, or asking them out, or whatever it might be, for whatever reason and there are many, many reasons...
As a woman liking longhaired men, I honestly feel like: less competition around with those women who do not like longhaired men. All those women rejecting my boyfriend for not cutting his hair: I am gratefull to that. Just be yourself and you get the right match.

I was actually planning to cut my hair.. But this vid reminded me why I grew it in the first place. I did because I wanted. It was my desire and preference. People's opinions don't matter as long as we're being true to ourselves.

@@sauviel6296 about 2 months ago I finally decided to cut it. I've experienced having a long hair for half a year and also half a year growing it. It was one of the fulfilling decisions I've had in my life. It really boosted my confidence and now I know what my personal style is. If you've never tried it before, you should.

As a woman I personally am highly attracted to men with long hair ,(and as a conservative woman)
A man can be a 6 but if he grows his hair out he automatically becomes a 7-9 for me
Sometimes I even ask men I'm talking with if they ever want to grow there hair (witch is probably bad)

You're so right in all aspects of this topic. It's very attractive when a guy makes a decision on his own because he wanted to do it instead of growing his hair just to attract women. Hello, I am a man with long hair. I did not find a woman who wanted to marry me. If there is a woman who wants to marry me, a man with long hair, welcome.
I had long hair for a decade, then cut it 5 years ago when my first child was born. The reactions/comments I received when it was long, both positive and negative, were often extreme (once had a guy try to start a fight with me in a pub because of my long hair)
I’m growing it back now, I’m about 10 months into the process. It came down to the fact that after I cut it I felt like I’d lost my identity, my individuality. Sure enough the ‘when are you going to get a haircut’ comments are back 😂, but I really couldn’t care less. I’ve not been this happy about my own appearance for five years.

I've got hair nearly to my waist and it's very healthy. This guy just reenforces what I've known for 30 yrs. The women that are attracted to me are more fun and more real. And I'm usually the only long haired man In The room . If there is one woman that digs hair ,shes on me. It's worked for me.
I'm glad I found your video. I'm 58 years old and a widower. My wife was my best friend, she's been gone almost 7 years now. She was a very free-spirited woman. She saw pics of me as a kid in the late 60s & the 70s w/ long hair and told me to follow my heart. Because of her encouragement, I started my first business, got my pilot's license, and yes, regrew my hair out!
I've not dated anyone since she passed because I felt like it was cheating and maybe somehow disrespected her memory. Maybe I will date someone someday, who knows, but I'm not going to sweat it. It's good to know if I do "attract" someone, she'll is more down-to-earth like me. They say the average age men die at is around 75. So if I don't find someone- or more correctly, if they don't find me, it wont be a long drag .

I have grown my hair long in the past and I regret cutting it short..it probably would be down to my waist by now..don’t ever let a female tell you to cut it off..that will never never happen again..the long hair is here to stay..besides you stand out from the mediocre and show your virility.

Since growing my hair out and updating all of my pictures on dating apps showing off my long hair, the number of matches and type of women has actually gone up. Could be that I live in San Diego and seeing guys with long hair isn't so uncommon, but its been working great for me. Great video, you made great points.

After completing my gig in the Navy, I grew my hair to my waist, and have had it there since. Idiots in the medical field, I was a medical professional, harassed me until I quietly spoke to H.R. and offered to arrange a meeting with my lawyer for slander and harassment. I worked in southern California for forty years.
Going through the same thing right now. I actually love the polarizing aspect of it, gets you more dates! Fitting in to the mold does nothing for you, but make you blend in with the rest of the world.

12 months in my journey and loving it, there are tons of different styles to choose from with longer hair compared to short hair. I think your body type plays a big role too, example if you are muscular or not in terms of how others view you

I think the majority of men we try to grow our hair out because we like the look,including me because long hair perfectly suits and compliments my face,especially when I tie it up,I instantly look more attractive and It gives me so so much confidence.I think it is a very minor issue when it comes to dating because hair is such a superficial thing and if you find that a particular girl does not like your hair it is her problem and not yours because at the end of the day you want to feel satisfied with yourself,that is all that matters!!

Hi, Im from Chile and im growing my hair for over a year now.
So, today i have this weird chat with my dad about my hair (he hates it), the thing is that when a person close to you says things believing that they are right or trying to help you, it just gets tiring after months and months of the same discussion.
Im no mad at them, it just that i don't like to explain why im doing what im doing, people with short hair doesn’t explain a shit, do they? The most hate I get as a man with long hair is from bald guys. But honestly I couldn’t care less because I am growing my hair for someone else. Decided to grow my hair out when I graduated in 2019, and now I’m like 20 or so months in, and I’ve been told by a lot of people that long hair suits me much more. I’m in my freshman year of college (I took a year off), and almost everyone I meet calls me Thor lol. The confidence long hair has given me is off the charts

I'm growing it out too, so many people asked me when i will get a haircut. Once through the awkward stage I received the first positive statements on my hair. At first I wasn't sure if it will suit me or if it will look feminine, bc I have bright blonde hair so might be.. Now I'm loving it, I definetly won't cut it xD

I feel this too. Cuz if covid I decided to grow my hair out since I’ll be inside mostly anyways. After lockdown and some family would come to visit, they’d always ask when I’m getting a haircut 😩. It made me feel so self conscious cuz I thought they’re saying that cuz maybe it looks bad. Then as time went by and I went out a bit more, I started getting compliments and that was something I never really had before. Interesting experience I’d say.
Great video. I would be interested to hear about the response you’d get on the dating app if you only posted long hair photos. By posting short hair photos, you’re not likely to get responders who really like long hair. People who like longer hair wouldn’t even approach you. The responders you did get probably felt like it was bait and switch when you sent your new photos. Some women really don’t like facial hair either (I don’t recall if your long hair pics have a beard or not). In any case, thanks again for the video!
Yes definitely. There was definitely a switch ha ha. Facial hair I’ve not seen too much of a problem with but there are definitely some women who don’t like it. I’ve also got my nose pierced and arm tattooed so there’s a lot to dislike lol

This really boosted my confidence in the choice I made four years ago wanting long hair I get both sides of the coin some like it some don’t some of my guy friends want my hair short just like some girlfriends like to see me with short hair as well but I think for the men is that they don’t know anyone with long hair and for the women I feel like they feel less feminine because my my hair looks better than them or I get more compliments than them not to sound cocky lol I do get pressured to cut it off and also to keep it but I wanted long hair because of me what you want matters and that’s the end of it.

I’m almost exclusively attracted to long-haired men. The exception is, ironically, bald men hahaah I guess I just find the common hair length for men very boring. Personality matters the most and people should look however makes them happy, but men with long hair make the world more beautiful.
I am at the other side of the mirror :) I am a man with long hair and the only look that I also like and would be happy to go for is very short buzzcut or no hair at all. I think it's because long hair and super short hair (or no hair) have one thing in common : simplicity and wilderness. I love love love a man with long hair. It makes them look Bohemian at times. And that appeals to the side of me that loves nature. Then it times they can look Suave and that appeals to the side of me that loves fashion. And at times it can look Rogue and that appeals to the grungy Rockside that I adore. Got my long hair over lockdown uk decided to keep it :). A found that it brings something out in ppl around you it shows you ppl who love you for you and don't mined it or don't care and ppl that say aww cut that. First, awesome seeing people stand up for the long hairs. Good video. The only question I have is: Are you using hairspray? lol. It would look fantastic naturally with almost no products except a defrizz spray etc.
I’ve tried virtually every hair product. Don’t use hair spray too often though
As a metalhead , in the metal scene , I have long hair and I notice that , if you have short hair and you're a metalhead you dont get taken as seriously than a long haired guy.

They like our long hair because it looks better than them , but it doesn't mean they will date .
I'm 41, i started growing my hair when i was 15 because I was possessed by heavy metal at the time haha It definitely hasn't made dating easy, some women love my long hair, some don't at all. In the end all that matters is that I love it. Maybe i'll cut it one day when i feel it's time to change but i'll never do it to feel more attractive to shallow women no matter how hot they can be. To me it has always been a good filter because i never wanted anything to do with people that are so judgemental because of a hair cut (or lack of in my case).
Last 5 years I’m growing my hair and cutting into the shape where possibly I can make pony style , I felt that I’m getting more hits by girls compared to short hair .
I’m turning into 30s and I got married recently who she likes my hair so much , still I satisfied of my hair and you get more eyes everywhere.

I have found that I am NOT necessarily better looking with my long-ish hair than I was with a traditional haircut but man, do I stand out like I have never before!
Right now my go-to look is Russell Brand's do, not the one you showed but his current one which is a tad shorter and a tad tidier but still rock n' roll enough in my eyes. Also Bradley Cooper's in A Star Is Born is the bomb, I rock that one after a third day post-shampoo (when my hair is naturally that little bit "greasier") with facial hair complimenting both dos of course.

Have had short hair all my life (0-28 years old) always had a buzz cut or skin fade with a grade 2 on top. I used to get it cut every week because my hair grows rapidly. I always said I’d grow my hair ‘once in my life’ and 2 years ago I got my first grey hair and I thought I need to do it now rather then when I’m fully grey. I’ve been growing for 2 years and 3 months but my hair is a lot longer than yours as I mentioned ealrier about how quick it grows. I have super thick dense curly hair and I have to say even though it’s took me a good 18 months to get used to not having short hair I really love it in my own way now and have to be honest I get so many compliments on how beautiful, thick and curly it is I don’t think I’ll cut it any time soon. I have a son 3 & half year old son and we have identical hair. I love this also. Great interesting video mate

I started growing my hair long in 2002 and found out that it was really curly… my niece was born in 2003 and called me “Uncle Simba” because of it… when I donated my hair in 2010, she threw a fit.

Metalhead/rocker here, quite an insightful video here! I obviously grew my hair out because I am very passionate about the music I listen to (always have been).
In terms of my dating life, funny enough my last relationship was with a very free spirited woman who out of all the women I have been involved with was the most like myself. I definitely think for sure it narrows down your dating pool, but at the same it makes you stand out in a crowd and many times I have been noticed/hit on by women at parties and bars. So it's not necessarily that I've become more attractive but as you mentioned having long hair exudes confidence and naturally more eyes are on me, therefore my chances seem better. In terms of radiating a sexy vibe, I've definitely been told that too haha.
I feel much more free having my long locks, confident and more masculine as I having started working out much more than before when I had short hair as well.
There's just something about being a guy with long hair isn't there. You definitely stand out, sometimes that's good other times less so.

Well I am in my early 20s so narrowing the dating pool I don't think is the smartest option haha. I do agree that the women you do attract have more in common with you - like a diamond in the rough.
In terms of masculinity, it's definitely the confidence aspect I mentioned before, women will respect you for being yourself even if they're not into you as you mentioned, and that's apparent everywhere.

stick to it victor, i shaved my head new years 2018, have not cut it since - hair down to just past my mid-chest , every day the hair is different, i love it, the hate has been real, but I get more compliments and approaches now than when short , but besides that - i love that my hair reflects my mood , and people leave you alone or interact , all my choice in the am , mid am , mid pm and pm lol

I think it's not harder to get girls, but your pool is reduced by half (66% in my case). This video helped me so much hearing it from another person with long hair.

I don't get the greatest responses on dating apps and well hate apps. But IRL as long my hair is straight and shiny women actually do like it. A female friend told me my hair is pretty. Women at work seem to dig it too.

I would never cut it for anybody’s reasons or opinions, i mean look at the history: the vikings, in the french revolutionary or the samurais in japan many man‘s had long hair so nobody should put guys with long hair in a pot with just vegan heavy metal or yoga. Maybe it is true or not.

I'm growing my hair out now and I'm curious how this is going to affect getting a job. I'm studying product design and soon I'll be applying to jobs. My suspicion is that long hair will make me more memorable and seem more eccentric which is not necessarily a bad thing in a creative field. Any insight into other peoples experience with job applications and long hair would be great!

From my experience it is definitely a polarizing statement when you have long hair no matter what field you are in but it should not effect your job prospects as long as you keep it somewhat neat. I am a High School teacher with long shoulder length hair and a beard and some visible tattoos, it is not looked down upon at all by my administrators/bosses. When I was hired 4 years ago I had very short hair. I grew it the past couple of years and my students love it I am the cool (not so young) teacher! To be honest tho, I am looking to change school next year a bit worried how I will be judged by the Principal interviewing me but I plan on keeping it up in a bun or styled so it looks neat and not unkempt. Unfortunately there are a lot of people who judge you but I think as long as you keep it neat looking you will be fine! I hope you find an amazing job and are able to keep that mane long!

I started growing out my hair since quarantine and now im in the awkward stage but the thing that bothers me is that many long haired guys have beards. Im 18 and im nowhere close of growing facial hair so I don't know if it will suit me because i don't have facial hair.

Do also have experience with long hair but without the beard? I'm a pretty guy and can't really grow a beard so I'm worried long hair will make me look too feminine. Add to that I'm not in shape at the moment so also can't compensate with muscles
