Respect to you Sir with the great work you do! I'm a painter and I must say to your commenters, it is the painters behind the guns along with the knowledge and skill set and willing to learn that make the vehicles look like this. Don't get me wrong, it's not hard work painting at least to me it isn't. It's following the directions for each step and learning as you go. I used the cheapest harbor freight purple paint guns that cost $14 on sale when I first started to paint years ago. I got the experience using it to where i painted HOK candy paint on motorcycles bicycles atv's and had no problems at all. No strips or blocheness. So like you said in the video this black widow gun is great for a harbor freight gun!! I was going to invest in another paint gun to paint my truck and your video confirmed my next purchase, because I was looking at Sata and devilbiss. Keep the good videos coming sir.
Thank you sir, I appreciate you taking the time out to leave a Nice sincere comment. You're absolutely correct You can achieve the results with any spray gun.
Best video of the Black Widow HTE on RUclips. Thanks. I have one but I'm a DIY guy so still struggling to get it to work right. All your suggestions are helpful. I'm anxious to experiment with it more. Keep up the good videos.

I haven’t done a pint job in almost 10 years so I’ve been doing some research and refreshers before jumping into another project. I had a devilbiss finish line 3 gun that I never liked. It leaked from day 1 and I couldn’t resolve the issue. After doing some research with different channels I have to give you major credit on this video and the presentation. The fact that you gave settings for each coat shows how detail oriented you are. Thank you for being so damn professional about it
Trigger you're awesome man. I know your channel is growing pretty fast but i can see you at the top and really soon. This is why the big RUclips channels won't embrace you, you put it in a way that all of us regular blue collar folks can understand and relate to. I have noticed that every cheaper gun that you use it's always on darker colors to give us a real idea of what we would be spending our hard earned money on, and that goes a long way for many of us thank you Triggerman for all of your lessons and laughs. 👍
🥴 thank you Miamigabe, all good I'm glad the videos are relatable for you guys. And to be honest it's ok if I'm not at the top as long as I do my part in helping guys learn a trade and feed their family I've done my part as a good human ♥️💪🏼
Tape the swivel up or take that part out and get a non swivel part to fit it or have someone tack weld it while its out of the gun body. Great showing!
I have two of them. One for base, and one for clear. They are great guns. I like you don't use or care for the swivel regulator. I use the round filters at the gun, and the regulator at the tank for pressure. I run a higher pressure than you did. Usually 30 on base and 32 on clear. But all in all, Great guns. Another great video from the "Trigger Man."
Thank you brother. That sounds like a great option regulator at the tank. And i figured there would be different pressure settings coming in from guys. There so many things that would cause us to need less or more pressure. And I agree great guns 🤜🏼🤛🏼
Triggerman thank you very much for all your video's advice on spraying base and clear coats. You are the man. I am just getting started on painting my own stuff because of disappointments from so called body and paint guys and friends I ask for help and get nothing or a shit job after I help them and do my best because I take pride in what I do. Like you do. Stay Frosty trigger. And thanks for this and all your video's.
I've always wanted to learn to paint. Finally I'm at a stage in my life I will be able to afford to screw up and start over again. I've been watching a lot of gun reviews on RUclips. And there are a few other guns that are cheaper with a reputable name. But I really like the idea of driving 15. Minutes down the road to get a replacement gun and being back at it in the same day. This is the second video I've seen on this gun. The other guy was very surprised by the way it sprayed. And went as far as to take it apart and compare it to last year's model. It's a much better gun than last years model.
Keep in mind That drive 15 minutes down the road you can only do for 90 days after 90 days if the gun breaks it's on you. Most quality guns give you 3-year warranty. So that's always something you have to keep in mind this is a higher price tag than the average "cheaper end" gun like the vevor. Those Vevor guns you can buy 2 of them and still have change left when compared to purchasing this gun. But if it's gone can hold up and last for years then it is well worth the money. I have no dog in this race Just things to keep in mind. All I do is simply show you guys if the gun has the potential. If the gun has the potential I can definitely get it out of it. 💪🏼✊🏽
I know this video is older than my comment. Just a DIY for anyone, I just bought one of these. Picked it up for 99 bucks, while looking they had 4 that looked similar. They had 2 with the side knob and 2 with the knob on the bottom. They came with a 1.3 or 1.7 so double check what nozzle size you’re looking for.
My friend, I’ve watched a few of your videos, and let me say, you are one of the best painters I have seen. You have immaculate technique and you work clean! Keep up the excellent work! What state are you in?
Bro, it has never been about the number of followers BUT the quality of content. I love you presentation, knowlede, which I can relate to!!! Sense of humour, which the Gunman, MP or PS do not have!!! Seems a good gun and if I did not have the 30 odd, SAT'A's Iwata's & Devilbiss in my stable. Trust what I have. So, if this has self adjustable seals, it should never wear out... Right??? Time will tell, time will tell. You are a good, clean worker, good gun control, with neat and tidy results. Stay blessed. Ameen
Thank you Sir, I really appreciate that. And I understand 😊 I just wish I had a bigger platform. I wanted to start this channel 8 years ago but was scared to start it because the shop I work at isn't one of those big fancy high end shops and I figured I wouldn't make it on RUclips then I finally snapped and said you know what fk it I'll embrace what I have to work with and my skill and see what happens. And it turns out it's working in my favor. So it was all God's plan. Now I'm climbing my way up and I have 8 years of makeup work to do. So we're going to be moving fast. I thank and appreciate all of you guys man. ♥️💪🏼
I bought one the other day cant wait to try it! I got used to the swivel thing. Because the sata 5500 has it.. first time watching your channel as well! Keep it up champ!
That fan pattern is impressive. Very even. Should be good for metallics. Can't stand those swivels. I have a Sata clone that had it. I took it off and used a regular fitting. Nice job as usual Trigger
I’m not a painter but I want to paint a motorcycle that i built myself but didn’t want to pay hundreds of dollars for a gun I probably only use a few times, thanks for this video
I like the idea for Valentine's day ... I'd probibly have to dump her and buy my own ... I was thinkin Vevor but now I'm not so sure ... nice job ... great video ...
I had mines 8 years ago still crispy And I bought a spare that I just use for prime only it’s also sweet for sealing u just have to buy a bigger can for paint the one it comes with is good for small projects but if your painting a car completely upgrade the painting can for more paint
😂😂😂 Damn Trigg when did the "Trigguh Troll" become "Hispanic" 🤔 😂😂 youza Foo Trigguh Keep them videos coming brotha very helpful and you on your way to becoming one "Big RUclips painters" 👊😎
IKright?!?..LOL...I was just kinda listenin then and was gettin sumthing in the room and I started hearing "THAT guy" and was like ....Subscribed! Least NOW? IK it ain't just me...Lol..... being a "goof painter" at times....Good stuff indeed
Wet the floor, you want to spray with a consistent overlap, at the bottom of the fender this back and forth again and again is basically loading overspray onto everything, 1000 grit between coats no no, get yourself yellow super assilex pads and wedge a scotch bright inside to give it some firmness, but that's for base clear you can't sand between coats get the dirt out later put three coats of clear if you have too wetsand later otherwise you're OK. Good job.
Just getting started. I have an a610 and it works chassis parts, and I may just keep it for that, but the last few tools I’ve gotten from HF have been really nice. I might get this gun. On my first few body panels with that a610 I couldn’t find a good setting for the clear.
Man this was actually my first time ever buying anything from harbor freight. I always thought it was just a little cheapy store with tools that break in a year. But I was surprised with the quality of the spray gun. Haven't bought anything else since but I wouldn't hesitate if I had too. The A610 is a little weird to dial in. I gave up on it.
@@thetriggerman954 They have been improving. Their inverter generators, floor jacks and torque wrenches are really nice. I’ll give this HB gun a shot until I have the guts to spend the big money. Great channel man, trying to soak in as much as I can before I color change my car.
About time brother I use the hte version of the widow and love it and I like the adjustments. Your right the swivel sucks. Thanks for getting it and showing us who like myself like to see the settings the pros prefer!!
You're more than welcome in think this has been the most requested gun since I started the channel. I just couldn't see myself purchasing a harbor freight gun for more than $25. But man this thing is bad ass 🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽
I needed a new sealer gun and bought a black widow.I am very impressed with the gun for the price. The only thing I hate is the stupid swivel feature,it sucks!!!Thanks for the videos Triggerman
Thank you man, glad you Enjoyed the video. We need to write to harbor freight sign a petition with triggerman letterhead saying take this shit off we're going to return all of these guns on the same day 😭😭 thanks brother 💪🏼💪🏼
I have both (the clear gun version of the Black Widow). It looks extremely similar to the A610. I wish I understood painting better to offer some further info.
@@thetriggerman954 my personal opinion I think like with everything else it's a game these big name companies charging up to a grand for a spray gun and you have to have 6 guns to do your job I still have my black widow guns but I have since went to the 3M performance guns with interchangeable tip nozzle
@@rongamble9884 that's true to a certain extent. I know I have a few guns that are older than some painters on RUclips that I've beat up for almost 30 years and still spraying like brand new. I think the parts will last on most of the higher end spray guns. But then again it's not everyone plans to do this all day every day for the rest of their life so an inexpensive spray gun would be fine in that case.
@@thetriggerman954 hey that out of Dallas TX lives in moab UT now southwest rod and custom does D. I. Y auto school that dude still sprays with a binks model 7 siphon gun hates gravity feed and hvlp guns
I literally showed my girl the part about Valentine’s day😂. Awesome review my guy I have to get my hands on one of these. Can’t wait till you use it on metallica and f with it more. Thanks man
As usual great review. You gave some really good perspectives on a gun I wouldn’t normally consider but have always had a slight morbid curiosity for while buying cheap hf stuff. Thanks bother
I lost my good guns because of a sister selling the family home without my knowledge. I was forced to find something. I got the harbour freight gun. It was the older model. I did several vehicles with it that turned out car show quality
Thanks for sharing this, I have been looking around for a new gun and heard about these, best video I have seen on this gun, subscribed to learn more, appreciate your approach to show us what's up!
Thank you Mr. Bell 💪🏼 man I don't know what's up with that must be something in the clear that attracts them. Luckily it wasn't my last coat or I would have been screwed 😜💪🏼
@@thetriggerman954 When I saw you use the old trusty tape trick all I could do was shake my head.(Had Flashbacks) Don't you just hate when they lose a leg or wing in the clear?
Why was the owner there putting his car back together😂. That's odd, was he rushing you? My wife just bout me the black widow last week. I'm painting her car tho. Man I been painting with harbor freight guns since the 90's. I owned one expensive gun in the late 90's and it really didn't do better than the 20$ harbor gun. I just had to replace it often. The real work for me has always been color sanding in the end to make any paint look good. But I'm excited to try this new one out. After watching it BW spray, I might not need that color sand at the end any more. I only paint for myself or family. Nobody wants to pay for paint so I don't mess with it often. Nice video man!
Just found your channel new subscriber here, love your work brother I’m a apprentice spray painter 4th year hopefully one day I can be as good as you brother
Thank you brother welcome to the channel 💪🏼 with all of the different wonderful painters on RUclips I'm sure with bits and pieces from everyone you'll be a great painter sooner than later. Thank you again and welcome to Triggerland 🤎
That's an amazing finish from a budget gun there Trigger, I was always told that the Black Widow was just a glorified R500 but maybe I was told wrong as that finish is pure glass👌or is it the person behind the gun🤔our man Trig can make any gun look good💪🙏😅John Uk
Sounds like a good gun then, I know the old version of the Black Widow wasn't so popular but it seems this one is a winner, I always watch your videos Trig I just love them👌👍
just found your channel and SUB'd... man you made that look like glass. I've only painted 3 cars and its been a long while, i used the cheapo $20 HF gun, im gonna have to get me one of these after your vid...
Nice job! I use the black widow original version. I like the gun! I also adjust the fluid down a bit. I like it so much I got the black widow 1.7 for high solid primers. Haven't used that one yet. Im sure itll be better than my $60 dollar gun.
Sounds like your Knocking out the hits like Dezzy Hollow my man! Hopefully will be painting the Lambostang next week. I hope it goes well! Its going to be a tricky one! @@thetriggerman954
sprayed great i gotta pick one up but i said that about the r500 and haven't bought that yet but since i got a little 29G air compressor can't use the higher end guns with but i have the HF 100 spray gun 1.3 HTE had it for two years still going strong it's last a while i wonder if they got rebuild kits for it
Yea if What you have is working No need to go out and spend the extra money for this It's not a miracle gun. But for those who are in the market for a new gun it will be good. I'm wondering how long it will last I will use weekly and see how it goes. Thank you for watching 💪🏼
Nice video trigger. I wish my compressor was big enough to use black widow but I got to stay with less cfm I got the Eastwood Lv1. It seems to be decent with low cfm. Peace.
I saw that fitting on Amazon for $30 😲 I bought like a pack of 10 for like $8 of an off-brand, a tad bit longer but I swapped out the swivel and most of my guns. Thank you for the tip though I appreciate it 💪🏼
Just bought a Vevor based on your reviews. Came across this video. Is the Vevor still as good or better than the Black Widow. I just can't afford to keep buying one thats better than the other. Love all your videos!!!
The vevor is a great gun I've been using that gun weekly for about 6 months now It has no problems pricewise the vivore is a better deal I can't really say spending an additional $100 is justified for this gun. A truthfully is slightly better but that's to be expected at a higher cost. I've got glass jobs out of that vivo gun You're good with the vivo brother trust me.
Tape &long reach thongz! 4 them critters! Been on your channel month plus. Digging it! Plus am a 305 boy. But now in GA. just cheaper! 1 thing i loove about RUclips painter's = it ain't like insta! Insta boy's & girls got all that fancy shitt! Double t. Prep decks to suck up sand, dustless sanding, UV , like 90 green mat for floor etc. All that is coool & awesome but not necessary.!! Seems lik bossman setup the weights. As a stress reliever. Go squat before shooting the fade. 1 time in homestead, some dude's just went outside threw hands. Drank a beer after, back to bodywork! Keep it up! 954 mane!!!
Dade County in the house 🤜🏼🤛🏼 and yeah man all that fancy stuff isn't needed. Some painters have all that and still can't get it right. If they had to paint in my dungeon they'd quit the trade an go do telemarketing 😅 Thank you Tony 💪🏼
Awesome spraying! There's no doubt the gun performs and I would definitely use it.... however, yeah here we go...😊 being a Harbor Freight patron and long-time Inside Track Club member, I do take issue with the gun's warranty and pricing. Part of the hype for the series excludes the high cost being that the total of $180 + tax + added warranty to go past a mere 90 days ends up to over $250. Admittedly, $250 isn't a lot for a gun, but that does placeit very close to tiers of better made and part supported guns like Devilbiss, A.N.I,, Iwata, Sagola ( Pro XD $192 comes backed with a 3 yr warranty). HF could really step it up by lowering the price to a point that's fitting to their reputation. Let the flaming on old Boss Hawg begin 😅
That Man said inside track club member you speaking a language I don't even understand 😂 yeah they did tell me 90 days and asked me if I wanted an extended warranty I'm like what the hell is this a VCR lol But I do hear your point on that. yeah if you purchase The gun plus the warranty You're almost up there at the lower end of the expensive line of spray guns. Good point BossHawg You always come through with a different outlook on things I noticed that and it's appreciated from me And I'm sure from other subscribers as well. Thank you brother ✊🏼
@@thetriggerman954 as a long time hobbyist and cheap ass, I have to keep it real. The Vevor you reviewed is one hell of a deal for a hobbyist. You can buy two, keeping one strictly for primer, and still come under the cost of a BW with a warranty. Hf does this across the board though, so buyer beware. Bring the price down to earth, expand and include a better selection of tips for versatility, and/or include a real warranty. After all, cheap hobbyists are their main supporters.
This looks like it sprays nice. There is a company in PRC that makes an inexpensive gun thar from the reviews I've seen sprays like a sata or iwata. Look it up. Porphis prd 625 and a 715 I think it is.. they use to make them for others to put they own name on but now starting to sell direct to customers
The DV1 base gun is probably one of the best base guns I've ever sprayed with. This gun is really good but I'd be lying if I said it was comparable to the DV1. Can still get the same results but the black widow will require a little more effort.
@@thetriggerman954 thanks trigger man but they’re so expensive oh well have to save them pennies, have you done clear with the base coat gun mate can’t say I’ve seen a video and I’ve seen loads of yours dude 👊🏻👍🏻
@@user-paullynch Yes I actually have sprayed clear coat with the base coat gun and it sprays clear awesome. So really the gun is capable of spring base and clear coat all in one gun. So even though you're spending a little more you get two great guns in one
Oi... fuckin AMEN! I hate them swivels. Even on my satas. Have you heard of a new air cap and fluid tip for the DV1? A+1+ ? I'm trying to find out what it's meant for but no info. I'm so glad you're pumping vids out again lol
Maybe that air cap is because everyone complain about how slow the DV1 is. I had two of them I sold one I'm only holding on to my one DV1 with hopes that they come out with a faster cap the entire industry complained so I know they were listening maybe that cap will be a lot faster and turn the spray gun into a turbo booster. Thanks brother Glad you enjoyed the video
I pulled the trigger on one if these..pun intended. It is not as good as what it copies. You just don't get the fluid control as you dial the fan back. Also it is a material pig. All in all though not a bad gun for under 200 bucks.
Cant get those guns in the uk we have the equivalent going by the name of sealey seen some horror jobs shot with the purple and the green howd you find that one ?????
I'm not gonna like I tried with a big adjustable wrench and it wouldn't budge. I didn't want to break the gun in half . I switched it out on the vevor gun and I love the gun without it. But I really put force on this and it didn't budge. I'm going to try again this week. I have bunch of non-swivel joints to put right in there and it would make this a flawless gun.. so we shall see 🥴
@@thetriggerman954 someof them iwatas have glued in fluid nipples. I was watching the repair videos. Your may have to put a little heat on it to loosen🤷🏽♂️

Thanks for the heads up on the paint guns,, yeah no seal at the bottom of the doors on the booth
No problem
I know this video is older than my comment. Just a DIY for anyone, I just bought one of these. Picked it up for 99 bucks, while looking they had 4 that looked similar. They had 2 with the side knob and 2 with the knob on the bottom. They came with a 1.3 or 1.7 so double check what nozzle size you’re looking for.
Thanks for the review I'm looking at a new gun currently and this one was on my list it looks like it works good
Welcome brother. Glad the video helped. 💪🏼

That fan pattern is impressive. Very even. Should be good for metallics. Can't stand those swivels. I have a Sata clone that had it. I took it off and used a regular fitting. Nice job as usual Trigger

@@rongamble9884 that's true to a certain extent. I know I have a few guns that are older than some painters on RUclips that I've beat up for almost 30 years and still spraying like brand new. The real work for me has always been color sanding in the end to make any paint look good. But I'm excited to try this new one out. The vevor is a great gun I've been using that gun weekly for about 6 months now It has no problems pricewise the vivore is a better deal I can't really say spending an additional $100 is justified for this gun. Keep it up! 954 mane!!!

Maybe that air cap is because everyone complain about how slow the DV1 is.
