They are very lovely people, it was so nice to get to meet and talk with them a bit at the MTG summit. And such a cool surprise that they brought the original artwork with them (especially Animate Dead and Llanowar Elves, such classics!), that really made that weekend for me.
When you said you'd be opening a painted Anson Maddocks artist proof, my guesses were the following: Sengir Vampire, Animate Dead, Cyclopean Tomb and Pyrotechnics (the latter two being my favorite pieces done by Maddocks). Glad one of those was on the money! The painted back of the card looks fantastic and I'm glad you have another incredible piece to add to the collection! To your question of what my favorite old-school art is, is it even possible for anyone to have just one? I actually gave that some thought, and the best I could narrow it down to is a top 100 list. 😂
Ah nice, glad you were able to get it! He has so many classics, Disintegrate and Elvish Archers are two more I like. And glad Llanowar Elves was there on display too! I know what you mean, so many good ones to choose from! Especially nowadays. But if we’re talking early 90s, Anson definitely has a few of my favorites (if I were to pick like a top ten).

Thanks! I actually do have some original art (preliminary sketches) for a few cards that I got from different artists. Would those be interesting to show in a video sometime?
For sure...Story, Art and Card.... maybe do an Artist special over the years in Magic or even other ccg's. I know that is probably a lot of editing work, bit would be a nice change to all the "neg" lately. Have seen a few artist interviews, but that has been a while ago. there must be some awesome stories with the OG artists on how it all developed and came to be.... just a thought. Bet there are plenty ofv interested, coverage /content for everyone. Hope it goes Viral... but probably not 😅😂🤣😁
That is a good question...I don't see a signature on the art. But it kind of looks like a mox or signet, so best guess maybe Frazier? Maybe someone else can chime in if they recognize it.
