      Someone did ask about the card edges. This is something I looked at during my research, but didn't think it was a great/definitive way to identify fakes. But that being said, fake Enchanted edges do look a little different than the real ones. The fake ones look like two distinct layers and you can see the split in the middle with your naked eye, while with the real ones it's much harder to see the different layers unless you look specifically at the corners of the card. This is another quick way to see if you need to take a closer look at the card using a loupe, but I wouldn't use it as a definitive way to say the card is a fake.

      @@TheNinjaTCG Have you looked at card weight to see if there is a difference? Right now it is looking like enchanted cards all have the same specific weight (which potentially allows scammers to weigh packs as well).

    Nice video, learned a few tricks with the jeweler loupe
    On top of it, non-enchanted fake cards are very very light on the color used, just look at the color difference on the 2 beast, the left one is the fake
    This is also true on the back side with the yellow lines, fakes are way much brighter (also true on enchanted)
    Enchanted weights differ if they are fakes (1.85g vs 1.96-2.03g range for real)

    • @TheNinjaTCG
      @TheNinjaTCG  8 месяцев назад +1

      You got it, the left one was the fake. You can really see it when comparing the legendary symbols. The fake one looks more like copper than gold. And thanks for sharing the weight differences!

    Thanks for the video. I had purchased an enchanted from TCG about 6 months ago and this video ensures me that it's real. I also pulled an enchanted myself that I used to compare and o-boy even using a jewelry lense its hard to focus. I had to use 90x magnifying on both cards to see the grid lines.
    Note: make sure to remove the cards from the toploaders (makes it much easier to see)

      I’m glad you got a real one. Seems like it’s pretty safe to get enchanted cards from tcgplayer as long as it’s from a reputable seller with a lot of transactions and good reviews. I got a real one from tcgplayer as well. Glad the video helped you out!

    Most impressive. Thank you for the breakdown and analysis. Similar in identifying the fake MTG cards. The jewelers loupe is very handy. It’s astounding and unfortunate that fakes have already made their way into the Lorcana market so early into the game. It is good to give the community knowledge in understanding and identifying these to hopefully weed out and keep out these fake cards.

    • @TheNinjaTCG

      Thanks for watching! Yes it’s unfortunate, but luckily the fakes aren’t as good as the Magic ones yet. I’m guessing part of it is because all the real Lorcana cards have been printed in the USA as far as I know. The printers in China haven’t quite figured out everything yet. I didn’t go over it in the video, but even the surge foil pattern is fairly different if you look closely.

    Inconsistency in the printing process makes a lot of these 'sure fire' methods of determining if a card is fake inaccurate.

    • @TheNinjaTCG
      @TheNinjaTCG  8 месяцев назад +2

      Definitely. And that’s why I really wanted to go through a few methods with a jeweler’s loupe that will stay consistent even with the printing inconsistencies.

      I was opening product with a store owner and we both noticed cards with different card stock! The saturation, cut, and feel were different on legit cards. I do not trade or buy unless I see the card being open or its my close friends.

    So I pulled a genie enchanted first chapter first wave pre release booster box (record it) the illustrator's name and Disney trademark are both holo it dose have the grid pattern inside both numbers and lore but the lore dot pattern is not unified also have a Elsa that is first wave with the same traits and I have a Aurora enchanted first wave coming that's the same too makes me wonder if this is how you can tell the difference from the first print to the second just a theory

      Just got an enchanted Genie online and it has all the signs of being the real deal apart from the dot pattern in the lore symbols. So it's a relief to know there are genuine cards with the same issue.

    Thank you so much for this, I have owned around 40 enchanteds, recently I bought 2 that dont feel right. everything checks out though when it comes to shine, artist name, and the artist symbol. Just bought a jewelers loops to confirm the grid in the lore and ink cost, thank you so much! However, could you do me a quick favor, can you check the weights? @@PimpPharaoh89 hi, i got the same idea. Normal Lorcana cards are around 1,83g. Foil and none Foil.
      But enchanteds are exactly 2.00g!! this might be another good indicator. For my next buy, I will carry my fine gram scale, some money (10x50€) and just in case a small bag of oregano.

    Any tips when looking at cards on eBay or Facebook MP when your potentially buying based off pictures?

    • @TheNinjaTCG
      @TheNinjaTCG  8 месяцев назад +1

      If possible I’d ask for at least a picture of the symbol in front of the artist’s name. They should be able to zoom in 10x on their camera phone so that you can clearly see from that symbol if it’s real or fake. Otherwise sometimes I can tell from the surge foil pattern (more subtle and swirly for real Enchanteds compared to jagged and less subtle for fakes) if it’s fake, but that’s not a great way to identify fakes from just a picture. Video or zoomed in pics would be much better.

    The real fact, and the real problem, is that we can't know how much they can do better in the future this fake cards. This is only the beginning, and no one can say if in the future, with some of very exepensive cards, they can arrive to a level that is impossible understand wich one is real and wich one is fake. That sounds not good for collectors and in general for people that spend their money in this world

    • @TheNinjaTCG
      @TheNinjaTCG  6 месяцев назад

      The fakes will definitely get better in the future, but I think there will always be ways to tell the differences as well. If you look at the fake cards in Magic, they’ve had over 30 years to perfect the fake cards, but you can still tell the differences if you know what to look for (for example using a jeweler’s loupe). So you’re right, the fakes will get better. But I really believe that we’ll always find ways to be able to tell the difference.
